Their arc just goes to show that what matters most is you stay. Despite everything, in spite of anything.
I don't know what to make of the fact that he likes Eris and he likes Roxy for as they are. Yes, he also likes Sylphie but what sealed her deal was what she could give him--the cure, the company, the security, the fail-safe route. I don't say it's a bad or wrong thing. I just think it's kinda sad for some reason.
To think she even carry this kind of insecurity.
EDIT: Someone said in the replies that this is not insecurity but more like trauma from the teleportation incident. Point taken and I stand corrected heheh. But there are parts of her that exudes lack of self-confidence and that awareness the Rudy is just like that, just like his father hahahah

FFXIV Write 2024 | #30: Two Heads Are Better Than One
3rd Umbral Moon, 24th Sun, 1577 6UE
Had the chance to speak with Minfilia on the way back from Ul’dah - for the first time since before Titan, since Livia sas Junius wiped out the Waking Sands…
All things considered, she’s holding together stunningly well; I expected naught otherwise (which might not be the fairest weight of expectation, now that I think on it…), but it’s still relieving to see. She poured some tea and we chatted about nothing in particular for a little while before she thanked me for the rescue. Somehow…that made me feel worse about all the missteps it took to get here. My ears still burn and ring damnably when I think of how furiously I accused Longhart (gods I have to get used to this) Mia of selling us out to the Empire in the aftermath of the raid. They still burn as I think about how Lahabrea wore Thancred’s face - which led me to suspect Thancred of having been a double agent all along and saying so to Minfilia’s face, not realizing he’s been there for her for most of her life. He was even the one who dubbed her Minfilia.
It burns because… it’s been something like four, five moons I’ve been with these Scions, and still I cast suspicion about me like a fishing net. Like I haven’t already given more of myself to these people than I ever expected I could, after six years of trauma and pain and mistrust on Pearl Lane - like these people haven’t done so, so much for me. Like Lily hasn’t been the kindest soul, sweet and deserving of whatever protection I can give her. Like Yda and Papalymo didn’t recognize whatever “potential” I had and believed in me enough to invite me into this circle. Like Y’shtola and, yes, Thancred haven’t been invaluable wellsprings of knowledge and political savvy, and pretty good in a scrap to boot. Like Alphinaud—brat that he is—hasn’t still managed to steer me true in a time where we felt powerless and afraid.
Like Mia hasn’t taken massive wounds and blows in order to protect me as I cast my white magic, in spite of all the venomous words and blistering arguments we’ve thrown at each other.
It made me wonder if perhaps that was why Minfilia never sent me out on a mission alone, always under an Archon’s supervision and always with Mia or Lily at my side. I asked her, after moons of waiting to do so, why she had kept pairing me off with them, seeing how often we got in each other’s way and butted heads with each other.
She had simply smiled in that manner that makes me slightly punch-drunk and said, “I won’t say I knew all along, but I always believed there was potential in the partnerships and relationships you were forming ever so reluctantly. Seeing the way you worked together so seamlessly to free us from the castrum…I believe my faith has been rewarded.”
She really pierces to the heart of something that has been bothering me ever since my time on Pearl Lane. After I woke up in Raya-O-Senna’s sickbed in Gridania, I still closed myself off and refused to let myself draw close to anyone - even Sylphie, whom Brother E-Sumi entrusted to my care, I kept at arm’s length. I would be a fool to deny I did my absolute damnedest to do the same with the Scions of the Seventh Dawn - and I’ve failed utterly. And maybe that’s not such a bad thing.
I’ve found myself a part of something, an effort larger than myself, and that’s actually pretty amazing. And none of us would be here if it weren’t for the efforts of each and every one of us - I couldn’t have hoped to weather such a storm alone.
So maybe I should try trusting in others and working together with them to—for instance—fight back against the XIVth Legion, destroy its Allagan superweapon, and free the Eorzean Alliance from the tyrannical grasp of the Empire. Can’t do it myself; two heads, indeed several, are better than one. And we’ve got a fair few good heads around here.

Sylphie and Rudeus equally down bad. A match made in heaven lol. Sylphie imagining how many kids Rudeus would want to put in her while laughing nervously had me crying man. She’s innocent and cute.
If your friends don’t gas and support you like Ariel supports Sylphie with the Rudeus situation, get new friends. Ariel’s got the whole situation back in her kingdom to deal with and her main priority right now is making sure her friend who has been loyal to her for years is happy. That’s so real.
Sylphie keeping the storm clouds together as she and Rudeus walked, in order to trick him into setting up camp in the cave, was just as funny as I’d imagined it when reading. They did cut from that scene a bit where Sylphie imagines buying Rudeus in a slave market. They kind of teased it because she goes “buying Rudeus” internally, but in the LN her thoughts were more explicit.
The “please undress me” scene is probably the most original and intimate confession I’ve seen, at least in a very long time. The parallels back to episode 3 of season 1 in which Rudeus undressed Sylphie and learnt that she was a girl, now doing the same and learning that Fitz is his Sylphie is so perfect. One of the many examples of why I love this series. You just don’t usually see this type of attention to detail in a fantasy LN.
Took a lot of courage for Sylphie to go through with this plan and it never would’ve happened without Ariel’s help so shoutout to her for reuniting two lost friends lol.
Bind delivered in this episode big time. Quality and faithfulness to the chapter(s) were immaculate. If you don’t speak Japanese or didn’t pay attention to the episode titles you may have missed the last 2 episodes titles “Kono kimochi” and “anata e tsuetai” combine to mean I want to convey these feelings to you. Just very beautiful. Well done Bind. Only omissions were Rudeus enjoying Sylphie calling his staff thick and playing with it and the aforementioned sex market stuff

*clears throat* *pulls out pitch pipe* why do I only wanna draw you when you CRY
I can’t believe I’ve never completed a full picture of Amoré & Agatha, since she’s another NPC I tend to yoink for AUs a lot.
Anyways, this is the first addition to the character scrapbook that I never got around to drawing when it happened in session.
Amoré has a really complicated relationship with her (great 10x??) Aunt. She didn’t even know she existed until her parents sent her off to get some magic items appraised by a reclusive relation that lives in the woods.
Within half a day of being there, she got hit with the knowledge that this woman now has full guardianship duties over her. Despite the fact that Amoré had only seen her parents as a convenient but minor annoyance for many years, it still completely blindsided her that they could make this decision at all. And without her finding out until she was already out of the Estate.
This woman she barely knows somehow holds all the authority to strip her of her family name & status. She declares that Amoré has failed to perform well on a task she set for her, bringing into question her worthiness as the next heir to the Bellridge Legacy. She suspects that Amoré has lost her connection to her Angelic Guide, & is forcing her to face the reality of it.
Also…she stole two highly trained Bellridge staff & gave her Sylphi as collateral, which Amoré did not hesitate to make it known she found it to be “not a fair trade.”
After their first night in Agatha’s home, Amoré’s old nightmares begin to resurface after a few months of deceptive peace. And now she is torn between shoving away this woman who pokes mercilessly at her most tender wounds, & leaning on her as a source of support as the only person who could probably guide her through her broken Guide connection.
Too bad Amoré is allergic to asking for help ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Forgive me for firebombing your good day with more Mushoku Tensei bullshit, but there's a moment in today's episode that pretty well encapsulates why this show is such a failure. Short version, Rudy gets caught with a bag of stolen underwear that his catgirl servants forcibly took from other female students without his knowledge (don't question it or we'll be here all day) and he has to clear up to everyone what happened. And once he's proven his innocence, Sylphie is relieved because, in her own words, "I was worried I wasn't enough for you." Not a word about the girls who were forcibly stripped and violated; their feelings might as well not even exist. All that matters to Sylphie is whether or not she's fulfilling her wifely duties acceptably, because the only way this is a "problem" in the eyes of the show is that it makes her feel bad for not being enough of a submissive, compliant sex dispenser for her husband. Mushoku Tensei does not give a single flying fuck about the feelings of sexual assault victims and it doesn't see why you should either.

more job quests
paladin: mylia got friendzoned and solkwyvewrbjn didn't shwo hsi face. a good day. wow they totally pretended the paladin quests just didn't exist (tbf they were bad)
warrior: did we ditch curious gorge who going to be stuck on a ship to the far east for who knows how long. is it me or have the warrior quests gotten progressively more goofy like the maurader ones were pretty serious.
dark knight: esteem totally wrote that letter. are we going to end up in whitebrim? was gundobald one of the one's to witness one of the pc's very public mental breakdowns? *slaps roof of wol* this bad boy can hold so many personalities. fray/esteem, myste, ardbert, the reaper demon, im forgetting someone
monk: oh yeah wasn't widergelt revealed to be a secret prince or something. "please wait for me half way on the other side of the continent" huh weren't they going back to ala ganna anyways. hi lyse. i thought we were setting up a provisional government. how's that going. YES YES YES I am so happy about this, was a little disappointed this didn't happen in sb but i guess it's the structure of the quest system. these are made to be done after 5.0 those were meant to be flexible enough to be done during 4.0. rhalgr's reach is THE temple of the fist of rhalgr and the Resistance is there and I wanted widergelt to go there so badly.
dragoon: baby orn kai
ninja: there's no way this works. karasu better not fake his death a 3rd time. or well tht could be pretty funny actually. spiderman meme. uhh i choose underpants boy. eyyy got that one right i wasn't sure. and the adventures continue. nin is different in that way in the others so way have been about wrapping up loose ends or more like an encore.
samurai: i forgot this storyline.
white mage: a alaqua the worst job questline in the game. what do you mean she wasn't able to take down a treant wasn't the whole thing about how powerful a mage she was. also e sumi still sus af for letting sylphie roam around and take charge of the gatty situation. sooo we're not gonna talk about her dead family at all?
scholar of all jobs is the only one to have combat. i forgot about setoto and h=may have gotten her confused with surito carito
astrologian: so between 3.x and 5.x is less than a year. i'd say this is a deviation from all the politics of 30-50-60 but this did all start with janne's crush on her dad. my aro queen. wish this had more to do with sharlayan as that shows up in 6.0 but well she did fake her death. hope grandpa is ok.
machinist: hilda! I wanted to her to show up in a mch quest. oh hey i have to kill something again remember the bad ol' days where ever job quest was to go kill something
black mage: i feel like the game usually forgets dewlala exists
did the writers forget that cocobuki is like half yayake's age. i don't exactly remember but buki's like 27 and yayake's in her 40s. because buki was never this rude.
summoner once again continues to be the most msq relavent job despite never being featured in the trailers. smh and with the ascian saga ended with ew the devs lost their chance for a summoner meteor. that is the question someone is born (or made in foldora's case also offies zenos also has that implanted echo) to do something well, should they do what they're good at or not?
red mage: still think arya should have minmaxed into thaumaturge/black mage. wow how come its all the magic jobs that get combat. what's to stop other tomb robbers?
wow we really did tell the whole realm that there's multiple worlds and we went to one.
did you know that if you rotate your character near a wall at just the right angle you can see that they are empty inside except for the floating insides of their mouth?
role quest capstone
doing the job capstone. see this is a weird take because up until this point we are led to believe that it was the decimation of the First's native dark aether that unbalanced the shard to light. but here the shadowkeeper is revealed to be from another world (the 13th?). yeh 13th, wasn't that like thousands of years ago tho, well source time who knows about 13th time but that doesn't explain how she's still alive. ah she's echo'd too and friends with unukalhai wonder how he's doing..
these 2 statements seem to contradict each other. is Cyella talking about a symbolic radiance because she was trying to lose. instead of Cylva's death the Flood was triggered by by ardbert killling mitron and longhrif. im assuming cylva was the bait so that the ascians could better control the flood and bring the shard "to the brink" instead of over it as she puts it. ardbert and co then killed themselves and jumped shards. ascians got vauthy to transform the party's corpses into cardinal virtues. time continues to be a mystery. why is she alive. huh her goal was to kill them... uggg i nned to think this over
hmm but the lightwardens didn't have that thrall effect. but then again everyone who came close died. cant tell if sin eater conversion is related or not. oh his dialogue predicts going to the first. should have talked to him earlier woops

8, 9, and 10 for Sylphie? Since she’s been resurrected for D&D vibes 👀
Ooh this'll be interesting. I haven't really thought about her in a good long while, and even in the story she didn't actually sneeze lol. I'll see what I can do.
8. Does your OC have a "pattern" to their snz? Does that pattern ever deviate for any reason?
I wanna say Sylphie mostly sneezes in singles, usually with the single long silent breath type of buildup. For anyone not accustomed to her sneezes or actively looking at her this means likely being caught off guard when she suddenly explodes. And I feel like the only time she'd deviate from this is if she gets sprayed right in the face with something that makes her sneeze, in which case she'll have a little fit of maybe 3-5 sneezes, with the last one being the biggest and having more of a perceptible buildup.
9. What does your OC's pre-snz face look like?
Going with the long, mostly silent buildup, Sylphie's pre-sneeze face starts off as a bit of a snarl, mouth open unevenly and one nostril hiking up above the other. From there, she'll tip her head back and fully scrunch up her face as she slowly inhales, eventually ending up with a really desperate expression, brow knitted and 'fangs' bared and all that. She doesn't actually have fang fangs but she'd have that sort of look with her mouth wide open lol.
10. Does your OC have an "aftermath" to a snz, such as continued sniffling, nose rubbing, or something similar?
Definitely depends on the sneeze and the circumstances. I can picture her having a few different common variations though lol.
In a casual setting she might end up with a goofy "that felt really good" smile on her face. If she's in a bad mood she might do an annoyed little huff. And if she's in the middle of fighting someone, she might not acknowledge it at all.
Thanks for the asks! These were fun ones.

Day 7: Trial
The trials of the conjurer are never made to be easy, but Sylphie's came with a unique difficulty. How did it get so bad that a true and proper voidsent took up root? It's a good thing we were there...

The next day, Sylphie and Ernastral brought Lenar over to Gatty and Sanche's hut in the woods. Gatty greeted them enthusiastically, while her mother regarded the elezen accompanying them with obvious suspicion.
"This is Lenar, one of Ernastral's friends," Sylphie explained. "He's not a conjurer, but he's a skilled healer."
"I figured it might be worth it to have a proper healer look you over and treat you, if that's alright with you?" Ernastral said, looking right at Sanche. "And Lenar's the best healer in the world!"
"I'm not sure I'd go quite that far, love," Lenar chimed in, bashfully fiddling with his cane. "But I will admit that I've garnered something of a positive reputation even as far off as Sharlayan."
The woman's gaze flicked between Erna and Lenar, suspicion writ plain across her face. Gatty tugged at her mother's tunic, giving her a look somewhere between hopeful and concerned.
"Please, mama? If there's a way for them to help you..."
Sanche's expression softened as she ran a hand through her daughter's hair, mindful of her horns. She sighed and turned back to the group.
"Alright, fine, I'll let you have a look at me."
"Thank you. I advise the rest of you to stay outside until we're done."
"But..." Gatty cast a worried look towards her mother, suddenly unsure of the very course of action she just advocated for.
"There's nothing to worry about, love," Lenar reassured her. "It's simply that I may need to ask your mother some embarrassing questions in the course of the checkup. Things that a young girl wouldn't want to hear about her mother, such as her bathroom habits."
Gatty's face scrunched up into a look of obvious disgust, eliciting a laugh from her mother and another affectionate hair ruffle. "Gross!"
"Alas, healing is often a very gross affair," Lenar said.
"Come on, let's get this over with," Sanche said, turning and leading the way into the hut. Lenar dutifully followed behind her, Sapphire dashing ahead to help lead the way. As they entered the hut, Sanche lowered her voice. "You aren't actually going to ask about my bathroom habits, are you?"
"If we were dealing with a stomach upset, mayhaps," Lenar murmured back. "But not for a heart condition, no."
Lenar's questions were thorough, and touched on things that Sanche never would have otherwise thought to bring up. She had to admit that she was impressed by this fact. Lenar may not have been willing to admit it, but Sanche was fairly certain there was quite a bit of merit to Ernastral's praise.
"So," she said as the questions wound down, "what's the verdict?"
Lenar fell silent for a moment. He'd taken a seat, laying his cane across his lap while Sapphire sat on the floor beside him. He twirled the cane a bit as he gathered his thoughts.
"...To be blunt, not good," he finally said. "I gather that your heart condition has always been a degenerative one. Even with the best of care, you likely would have had a significantly shortened lifespan."
Sanche lowered her head and nodded, despite knowing he couldn't see the gesture. "Aye."
"And you have spent the past twelve years without any sort of proper care. 'Tis frankly astounding that you've lasted this long. That all being said, I fear my ability to oversee your care is limited. I cannot halt the progression of this illness."
Sanche let out a heavy sigh, leaning back on the bed. "I suspected as much."
"I'm sorry," Lenar said, voice soft and quiet.
She shook her head. "Don't be. Like you said, I've always known my time was limited."
Silence fell over them for a few moments. The only sound was the sound of the carbuncle scratching behind her ear, and the gentle tinkle of the fairy's light.
"How much time do I have left?"
Lenar's lips pressed into a thin line. "At the rate you've been going... I'd say a month."
"It's that bad, is it?" Sanche said quietly.
"It is," Lenar replied. After another moment's pause, he asked, "what would you like to tell your daughter?"
Sanche raised her head, frowning at him in confusion. "What do you mean?"
"Do you intend to tell her of your prognosis? That you do not have much time left?"
Sanche glanced away. "I'd... rather not."
"It's your decision," Lenar assured her. "Personally, I would advise telling her. Losing her mother will be awful, but... giving her some time to prepare would be better in the long run, in my opinion."
Sanche stared at the ground, one hand gripping her pants leg. He had a point, she knew that. But... "I don't want to burden her."
"I understand," Lenar said gently. "She is just a child after all. This is an awful situation for the both of you. But as I said, it's your decision and I have no intention of undermining that."
"Thank you," Sanche said. She quietly wiped away a tear. "You know, you're a lot more reasonable than the conjurers."
"Oh?" Lenar said, looking surprised. "How so?"
Sanche's gaze briefly wandered towards the window, where she knew her daughter was waiting. "How much do you know about... my daughter's situation?"
"I was mostly informed about your condition and that you and your daughter have been living in the woods for most of her life." The carbuncle lifted her head and gazed curiously at Sanche. "If there's more, then Ernastral neglected to inform me of it."
Sanche's eyes widened. "Huh... and here I was, worried she'd gone back on her word." She shook her head. "Since you aren't a conjurer yourself, and don't seem to be associated with them, I'll tell you the story."
She took a deep breath before launching into her tale. "My daughter is a Padjal. She's been chosen by the elementals to convey their will to the people of Gridania."
"A significant honor, I'm told."
"Aye," Sanche said, some bitterness creeping into her voice. "By Gridanian law, the conjurers had the right to take her from my arms to teach her how to be their servant."
"What?" Sanche glanced up to see the look of shock and horror on Lenar's face. "Wait... As a newborn?"
"As a newborn." Sanche grimaced and looked away again.
"Fury preserve, that's..." Lenar grimaced. "All other concerns aside, taking an infant from a loving mother seems far too cruel."
"As I said, it's their right. But I had lost my husband, and she was all I had left. So I took her and fled."
"I cannot say I blame you," Lenar said, quietly. He let out a sigh. "So that is why you have gone without medical care for the past twelve years. You fled the law so that you could raise your child in peace."
"And now my selfishness has put us both in danger," Sanche said darkly. "She lacks control over her power, and now it's attracting wandering voidsent."
"Which I'm sure has done wonders for your heart condition," Lenar said dryly. "Joking aside, there's no reasonable way you could have foreseen this. You simply wanted to keep your child safe and by your side. There's nothing inherently wrong with that."
"...Thank you," Sanche said. She shook her head. "But what's done is done. I'd like some time to think things over."
"As you wish. I will not tell Gatty of your prognosis, as you requested. Is there someone who has been overseeing your care so far?"
"Aye, the younger conjurer. Sylphie's her name, I believe?"
"I shall share my findings with her, then. She needs to know in order to provide proper care."
"Don't let her tell Gatty."
"I shall ensure she doesn't." Lenar stood up, dusting himself off. "With that, I shall leave you to it."

"Were you going to ever tell me?"
It was another trip to the ward, another trip to see her father in between routine checks from the Chigureons.
At this point it'd become a routine of it's own - every few moons he'd push himself a little too far, or his legs would give out on the field and something would crush him underfoot. Never anything as bad as the time Hardin attacked, but on rare occasion it came close.
This moon was one of those occasions.
Hardin struck again, maiming his left leg into disrepair and still scarring his right. Typical of the man to strike where he knew it'd permanently impact her father.
O'dhael remembered the look on Urianger's face when they brought him in. The way Thancred went from a playful jest with Alphinaud to chilled worry. O'miz couldn't even stand on his own two paws, blood caked all over his legs, mangled left leg twisted at an off angle, with the knee bent.
And yet all she could do was freeze. Stand there as memories flooded in of when she found him herself with Sylphie, groaning on the ground with a foot in the grave and the other on it's way. Her heart plummeted as she stared, and it sank moreso when she saw the guilt on his face - the knowing.
He was rushed to the ward, and once they were allowed to stop by, there was an achingly long talk about how he needed to step down, lest he perish. He was stubborn insistent that he hold the position, before reluctantly coming to a compromise. He'd retire Eleos, but still follow round as a healer.
Sighing to herself, she pushed the door open. Part of her knew the conversation to come - though his agreement to step down had been several sunrises ago, she knew Yargui stopped by some bells ago to carefully drop more news on his awaiting lap.
She knew the question waiting on his tongue the moment she saw the look upon his face.
"Were you going to ever tell me ?"
There was pain in his weary eyes, mixing in with the twinge of fear in his voice. She knew he was just as his father; fear of losing his child crushing all else.
"You know of my Echo," she started, stepping closer to sit by him and place her tail over his hand, "my plan, for several summers, was to step up and take the World upon my shoulders should you ever take it off yours. That time has come."
There was already blood on her hands, she wanted to tell him. She wanted to tell him she heard all the whispers of her being some 'secret' warrior of light, or that some people almost expected her to take the torch. That the fact that she was his child - the heart she was bestowed to by him was bound to this.
She took it in stride. She wanted to help, since she was a little miki'tten, and this was how she decided to do that.
O'miz seemed near frozen as he tried to speak again. "Dhael. . . I - are you certain of this ?" there it was again, that fear dripping from his lips. "You know it's a taxing task. . ."
"I promised Yargui several summers ago. I'm not inclined to break it."
"But you were just a child when you made it ! Surely she'd understand if you changed your mind !" a poisonous desperation joined the fear, as he pushed himself up slightly, gritting his teeth when pain shot up his body.
Speaking through clenched teeth now, O'dhael did her best to keep composed. "Young as I was, I was certain on my decision, just as I am now."
He opened his mouth to speak and then closed it again. It was clear his mind was rushing as he tried to figure out what to say.
"I already know of all the toils to come. Who wouldn't, if they've also seen the pain you went through ?" her voice cracked as she mentioned it - the memories of her father's torment were always too much- but she knew she had to reassure him she knew what she was getting into. . . somehow. "I've seen so much of it, Papa."
It was agonizing, watching how quickly his desperation turned to defeat. Seeing the echoes of a father just wanting to keep his child safe at all costs just as his own father did, knowing it fought with the need for acceptance that she had already left the nest and was more than capable of this. A whine escaped his throat as he fought back the tears, laying a shaking hand on her arm.
All she could think to do was place her own onto his and cast healing spells under her breath passed down to her from her fellow white mages.
She always knew this was inevitable, but she never prepared for the swift defeat - or the pain of it.
#This takes place several years into the future ! Dhael's in her 20s here#The prompt just reminded me of her telling him she was gonna take his position i guess is the best way to put it ?#wol!dhael. . . .#o'dhael miz#o'miz tia#emil drabbles#raynshyu

Ranking arr class quests from lamest to coolest
Ff14 has a lot of jobs. And we all love them for different reasons. One of said reasons often includes the job quests, which help with contextualizing the flavor and place they have on the land of eorzea as a whole.
But what about the first step before achieving said job?
Today, im going to rank all the class quest plots in a realm reborn, from what i consider to be the most poorly executed, to the best story in this batch of content. This includes every starter combat job from levels 1 through 30. So no hw jobs who start in arr territory nor crafters or gatherers.
9.- Gladiator
The most boring of the class quests by a mile. The whole guild feels like a bunch of wannabee heroes who stick out their heads in places they shouldnt, and aldin, the focus character, kinda steals all the spotlight from the guild and the wol, even in the final lvl 30 duty. Mylla is cool otherwise and seeing every single gladiator sent to do plot things being near death in an obvious trap is something hilarious to me. And the plot to poison the sultana is funny on hindsight cause its not going to be the first time it happens.
Overall kinda boring, and still, it was better than dealing with paladin after hw
8.- Archer
Xenophobia: the class quest. While it is a good story that contextualizes the systemic issues thst gridania has, the main conflict between Silvairre and Leih isn't entertaining to watch. And the fact that the elezen's shittiness isn't really adressed and leih just kinda puts up with so they get along. And the whole "subduing the vil poachers" feels off when you consider the lore of the keepers of the moon in the twelveswood and their whole "actually living in peace with the elementals and being branded as poachers by the gridanians" all ends up leaving a bad aftertaste in ones mouth.
7.-Lancer
Drk isnt edgy as Dragoon is, and its predecessor is also quite edgy at times. Lancer quest focus character is Folques, who is yet another victim of gridania's aggressive culture towards outsiders, except he is a murderous bastard who thinks that getting stronger via murder is cool. So we prove he's wrong as we become stronger by killing him instead.
Overall kinda meh story about a rude rival that foreshadows some of the themes of revenge to occur in heavensward and stormblood.
6.- Conjurer
Weird how all gridanian class quests are relatively low.
However, conjurer is one i genuinely enjoy. Sylphie is sn amazing character and the explanation of the way conjury works is so good. Reason of it being a tad low, is because e sumi yan is a bad teacher, and sylphie is a terrible student. Other than that, im happy they returned for sb whm quest, closing a book on conjurer in a really good way that ill speak about later.
5.- Arcanist
Our favorite custom officers are a fun quest for beginners, fitting as summoner is the easiest job in the game. I particularly love k'lyhia's energy, as well as how the job includes aspects of its future job incarnations and its own core with her. The power of the summoner and the strategic might of the scholar.
Only complain is that i miss k'lyhia, and i need to see her in dawntrail.
4.- Marauder
You kinda just break rocks and chase after a big animal for 30 levels. Which is to say, they make work with what they had, and had to set in the conflict between beast and man to follow up with Gorge in warrior. Its not terrible, but its obviously just there for the warrior set dressing.
3.- Pugilist
Slapstick plot. The most hilarious class quest solely because hamon is such a riot to be with, abd his solo duty when you kicks his ass and he starts to level up is the best gag in all of a realm reborn. Besides that, the quest isnt particularly memorable besides the average ul'dahn crime sindicate plot.
2.- Thaumaturge
The cocogang is just shadow wizard money gang if it was real. I really love their whole "evil priest that do shady things in the shadows" except the shadows are 2 feet away from the place they do burials and stuff. basically they are all chunnibyious and im all here for it. Plotwise is really cool; it introduces voidsent and also adds some fun conflict in the form of the youngest -and magically deficient- of the coco brothers, and it ends with all of them broadening their horizons. whats not to love about this gang of arsonists?
1.- Rogue
The last addition to the basic classes, also is my personal favorite class plotwise. The rogues guild is full of character and so fun to have around. The whole concept of them being the actual people who punish pirates for their heinous crimes is genius, and the dumb rivalry they have with the yellowjacket captain is hilarious in the same way that lupin the 3rd does with inspector zenigata, and that one gag of Jacke being hanged in the hooks upstairs because he ate a sandwich is hysterical. couldnt expect less from ishikawa.
if i had to nitpick, is that the job loses me a lot aesthetics wise when it becomes ninja instead.
Will make a ranking of the arr job quests later when i feel like it. hope yall understood the weird ramblings of my mind

Thank you BIND for this masterclass 🙏🏾 people in the fandom may complain about small details being left out of the season, but there’s always going to be complaining when you go from one medium to another. Very happy with the love and care that went into this season.
This finale was a beautiful encapsulation of Rudeus’ growth. Apologising to Sylphie and explaining his ED issues is a total contrast to how things went with Sarah. The two of them holding hands and reminiscing was just as intimate as sex, anyway. So many things to catch up on
But of course, Sylphie isn’t content leaving things there. As we found out last week, she’s just as down bad as Rudeus and wants to make their relationship official. Best wingman Ariel is committed to getting Sylphie her happy ending, again, everyone needs a friend like Ariel.
The biggest shock in this scene is that Luke who is normally totally subservient to Ariel actually speaks out and criticised her opinion of Rudeus. Which is a big step for him as that’s the first time he’s ever really done that, hence her reaction. Just shows how much of an impact Rudeus has had on Luke in the short time they’ve known each other.
And on to the climax of the episode and season overall. Beautiful scene with Rudeus and Sylphie. After 3 long years of internal turmoil and suffering Rudeus is finally able to get over his ED and spend the night with Sylphie. The Man-God came good on his promise. Very intimate and emotional scene and Bind did a really good job of conveying the relief of both Sylphie and Rudeus.
Now the biggest change in the episode is here with Sylphie not being next to Rudeus when he wakes up as she was in the LN. Not sure why they changed it as it weakened the emotional impact of the scene in my opinion. This and the cave scenes are supposed to be contrasts to Sarah and Eris. Sylphie being there is a massive relief to him. One of Bind’s few misses tbh. But they included Rudeus’ proposal so it’s all good. Balances out I guess.
No mad dog Eris :/
Spring can’t come soon enough

When Amoré sees a group of low tier noble girls picking on Sylphi at this party and her first reaction is,
“Where is the PASSION, where is the VISION…you’re all a disgrace.”
*casts Ray of Frost & makes them all eat shit*
“If you’re going to make fun of her Fluttershy looking ass, then at least put some effort into it. You’re making the rest of us look bad.”
Honestly in retrospect Amoré probably killed at least one of these NPCs with their 3 hit points. At least one of these girls had to have fallen on these ice spikes & those fluffy dresses only cushion them so much.

red mage: so basically arya should be a thaumaturge or black mage. she's really really good at the destructive magic and terrible at the restorative magics. why find equilibrium when you can min max and be a nuke.
have you heard of ... blue? or perhaps... green?
I really like x'rhun, great character
given x'rhun's history in the ala mhigo im disappointed the 60-70 storyline isn't going there, ah well time to see what idyllshire has in store.
I was just thinking at the end of the level 60 quest if X'ruhn is in his 40s then lambert probably is too and arya looks to be a teenager, wouldn't it be be messed up is she was his daughter or something. the only reason i didn't quite believe it is because lambert said he's been in a magical coma for many years.
fake memories? artificial humans? many possibilities.
i think its pretty interesting that despite its reputation it is not black magic that is the successor to void magic, it is red magic. and this is despite both black and void magic originating from mhach.
irony that the swashbuckling aesthetic class ends up being the demon summoning dark magic storyline.
wait that coffin is why witchdrop is haunted??
hey i happen to know a certain kitty cat that is a mhach specialist. too bad the questlines can't be interdependent.
hmm even the red mage writers get conjury and white magic mixed up
sorry arya but the 50=60 stuff was far more interesting than the 60-70 stuff
dragoon! ... orn khai just ate like 300 times his body mass in flesh
ninja: ok so we got a bunch of hingashi pretending to be from doma to smuggle a scroll out of garlemarld? I'm just waiting for karasu to be involved somehow. wait wasn't the house of sticks dude murdered like at level 20? there's karasu!
2nd? 3rd? time the game has said the doman rebellion was 1 year ago. the other time I remember off the top my head was right after doma castle when you talk to the blacksmith.
I feel so sorry for Akagi. we sent him on a goose chase to the literal opposite side of the planet.
Why is Karasu so focused on Oboro. he cares more about messing with him than literally anything else.
hey if zakuro is a mercenary we could buy out her contract.
oh that's interesting. yomei and all the shinobi we have met implied that ninja are from yanxia. but hanzo is saying that its from hingashi. then again all the shinobi we talked to were domans talking about their specific ancestral villages.
I totally do not remember who master sasuke is. and i don't think karasu is dead (again). oh master sasuke is the founder of oboro's village
whm: castrum oriens is an odd name given how it means east but is situated in the WESTERN part of the garlean empire
huh you can tell who is a padjal at birth. i remember reading in encyclopaedia eorzea or something that children only find out they're a padjal when the horn start growing in at like 10-15.
uh sylphie aren't you like 14. letting at 14 year old run the show and keep secrets from the conjurers guild while void sent are running around sounds like a recipe for disaster.
why not relocate both gatty and sanche to gridania. sanche would get better medical treatment, gatty would remain with her mother, there would be more conjurers on hand to deal with voidsent incidents, and there would be padjal on hand to tutor gatty.
the writers did this to keep sylphie's importance to the plot but this is a massive plot hole that e-sumi is having sylphie be gatty's teacher. first because as e-sumi himself said sylphie is still learning as an acolyte herself, she might have powerful instinctual magic but her learned knowledge isn't that good. second she wouldn't know white magic or padjal specific stuff. this is such a bad decision. also sylphie is still a kid has shown to be overwhelmed by the scale of this problem and having to take care of and be responsible for another kid. i guess the excuse is that it's technically the wol who's suppose to be doing the teaching but we all know that the player isn't going to be doing anything.
uh she jsut summoned a voidsent you sure she doing need more training its been like a couple months at most

God, I'm just now realizing that like 80% of the alien species in space opera came about because I was extremely married to mediocre jokes and built a Type of Guy around those.
#ya girl#untitled space opera#the fraquilique are a prime example of this in that their number system could resemble loss.jpg#i wanted the baggage joke for the sylphi#barbett hill for the greys#apparently my protip for worldbuilding is bad jokes first people later

I kind of just feel bad for the series since the manga gives time for the MC and Sylphy's interactions to breath in between Cool Moments before even introducing another recurring character into the mix, but by episode 2 it kind of shows that they have to introduce Everyone in its (likely) 12 episode runtime so into the bin (and everything else) goes
there's an entire subplot running in the background where the dungeon association is quietly investigating the MC because of the aftermath of Sylphy's first Full Power attack essentially wrecking an entire section of the dungeon but there's nil from that so far (and the said dungeon wrecking because no one wanted to animate that I guess) despite showing that the show will get to a point beyond that subplot
on one hand, there's an unlicensed light novel to this so maybe the pacing really is Like That there and this is all just the manga embellishing stuff
otoh, there is Seriously A Lot of stuff missing from the manga in it's four episodes so far, like big lore stuff like "Where Does Sylphy Go While Unsummoned". it's kind of nuts, tbh
i kind of cant get over how completely different the tone and presentation of this series is between mediums 💀
(not even getting into the pacing changes because the manga has the goblin fight before even the other girl gets summoned. i'm just sad they took out sylphy's huge gauntlets, she definitely has a different silhouette compared to the anime [sans the bust design but yeah])
