Hey! I’ve been trying to identify this tea set that my mom got at an antique mall. I’ve been combing the internet but I haven’t come up with anything yet. I was hoping you might have better luck :)
Thanks!
-Duck
WOW this is a gorgeous service!! Right off the bat I was thinking Limoges, and it turns out that isn't too far off!
I am getting some conflicting information on the studio itself, but overall I believe this was produced by the company Bawo & Dotter. Some databases online are connecting this backstamp to their studio in Austria, some are connecting it to their New York studio that imported and painted Limoges pieces. Regardless, this service would be around 90 to 100 years old, so long as the backstamp is authentic!
Unfortunately I don't think the company would have named and documented all of their patterns, especially not from the Limoges studio. They've got a Replacements page, but I didn't find this set in it, and Replacements is far from the end-all-be-all of everything a company ever produced. Still a beautiful service though and very reflective of popular styles coming out of Europe at the time!
#ceramics#submission#i also believe this is a coffee service rather than tea! from what i know of coffeepots they're taller and have a straighter silhouette#with a spout positioned higher on the body to prevent any stray coffee grounds from pouring out#coffee cups have straighter silhouettes as well! and are generally larger than teacups#of course they can be used for anything lol but i think the standard styles came about because coffee was easier to obtain at the time#so the pots were bigger and taller as compared to the smaller shorter teapots#coffee pots were also sometimes used for hot chocolate as well#sorry for the umm actually in the tags here fksfhg i just love coffeepots and their unique silhouettes

I'm looking to get into making enamel pins, do you have any tips for someone just starting out that aren't mentioned in the Pinlord page?
Hmmm there's a lot I could say Anon! Maybe one day if I have time I'll make my own enamel pin guide. But for now here are five things not mentioned in the Pinlord article:
Buy other makers' pins. You can look at pictures sure, but holding the pin in your hand and looking at it in-person lets you see how techniques, sizes, platings, and flaws actually look. I have learned the most about pins simply from collecting and looking at them.
Always include a backstamp. I learned this lesson early on and my biggest regret is not putting backstamps on my early pins. Once people toss your backing card they have no way to remember who made the wonderful pin they just bought. It's a great way to get customers if your pin is sold secondhand. And it differentiates your pins from bootlegs.
Do your research on pin techniques. Pinlord says you can't do shading with enamel pins, but you can look into UV printing or screen-printing to mimic it. I have used lots of different techniques in my pins, you can check my catalog to see them.
Pin grading. It's expected these days that you grade your pins, that is sort them into standard grade or B/C grade (flawed, greatly flawed). Or otherwise you should let your customers know you sell mixed grade pins.
Buy a Pantone book. The monitor colors do not match the actual enamel colors. The manufacturer can pick colors for you but they may not be exactly what you want. A Pantone book and a thermal label printer are the two best investments for pin makers.
Hope this helps! If you want an example pin proof I have one on my Gumroad. Good luck Anon :))

Carte de visite of a young cadet, c. 1860s. On the back, there is a very intriguing handwritten poem:
Cher Paul, objet de mon amour, Objet que j'aimerai toujours, Daigne accorder à l'avenir A ton ami qui t'en supplie, Dans ton coeur, dans ton souvenir L'heureuse place qu'il envie.
Which Google Translate turns to:
Dear Paul, object of my love, Object that I will always love, Deign to grant in the future To your friend who begs you, In your heart, in your memory, The happy place he desires.
Followed by a signature which might read "Ed Charruau" but I have difficulty making out the handwriting from here on. For that matter I am a little unsure whether that's really a "Paul" or a "Saul" or some secret third thing.
And below that, there is a note in a different, much messier hand that is largely illegible to me apart from a few tantalizing words—"amour" (underscored!), "admissible," "nécessités de la" (...what??), "toujours," "après"—dated 1884.
I can say with some confidence based on the style of the photography, the uniform, the photographer's backstamp and the card itself that this cdv dates no later than 1870, which means it is twenty-some years after this love(?) poem that someone writes this addition and I am absolutely dying for even a guess at what it reads! What happened? Did things work out for Ed and Paul(/Saul/?aul)??
Or... is this possibly actually all much less romantically charged in French actually (oh the irony), just guys being guys composing bro poems of platonic duditude to each other, as they do? Or less gay—could Paul/Saul/?aul somehow be a girl's name/nickname?
#or is it “cher GAUL” is our friend Ed pulling an Enjolras and declaring his feelings to France itself#tumblr please help me in my hour of need#the need to spill this long dead tea#19th century#1800s#1860s#1880s#19th century fashion#historical fashion#men's fashion#fashion history#military fashion#uniforms#19th century photography#cdv#carte de visite#gay interest#ephemera#poetry

Hi there! What do you think is the duty that Akane had to fulfill? Do you think maybe it's related to Tsukasa believing that the yorishiro is in Akane? Have a good day 🩵
I like this idea a lot! And I do think the entire trial was related to the Clock Keepers' yorishiro. Finding out who stopped time = finding out the person who wants to destroy the yorishiro. Which Tsukasa just freely admitted to, lucky for them.
To be clear, I fully believe that "fulfill your duty" was related to Akane being forced to backstab (backstamp?) Teru and drag him to court.
But Akane's duty is probably just serving the Clock Keepers in general. His price for saving Aoi was to work for them. And they must have a lot of rules surrounding that, including ones about protecting the yorishiro.
And if Akane does hold onto the yorishiro, if it is inside of him, in his pocket, or just somewhere unmistakeably related to him... maybe that yorishiro is his most important duty of all?
Besides cleaning the clocks, of course;;
Anyway... I'm not really sure if Tsukasa thinking the yorishiro is inside of Akane is related to his duty or what not, since as far as we know Tsukasa wasn't privy to any of that. Especially since he aimed for Kako first, not Akane. The way I see it, it's more like Tsukasa is exhausting every single idea that floats into his head rather than making any serious deductions here... (that said, I do think he's finally made a breakthrough.)
But thank you for the ask! I think it was quite interesting to try and answer. I hope you found it satisfactory.
