anti slash shippers will just be telling on themselves fr cause i posted some fanart and this guy’s like “i hate that when two men share a close bond and people imply they’re gay”
so i said “dude i didn’t even say anything about them being gay this is literally a redraw of a canon scene from the show”
and he was like “oh i didn’t mean you were implying they’re gay i was talking about the SHOW implying it,” LMAOO

hey so i’m new to the community fandom and i really love trobed. i was wondering what was your trobed centric episode masterlist like? or if it’s possible, is there a way to send me the post? sorry i’m new to tumblr so i’m still learning how this app works. if you see this, thanks :)
hi, welcome! I've found that community tumblr is probably my favorite fandom space I've ever been involved in, and I hope you've had a good experience so far. I totally get the New App Learning Curve thing, I'm historically very shit at learning how to use new apps, even though I'm "young" (20), but I eventually got it and you will too, Trust 👍👍👍
anyway, Yes one of the first things I did on here after joining was make a trobed-centric episode masterlist for someone who was asking lmfao. since it was one of the First things I did there's some formatting and other things I'd do differently now, and I've actually been looking for an excuse to go ahead and get that done, so. here we go.
the trobed-centric episode masterlist (revamped)
1x05: advanced criminal law
plot B
abed takes the "friends mess with each other" rule too far; he creates a whole fake language and spends a lot of money on trying to convince troy that he is an alien
"from now on, abed, friends don't mess with each other"
(this is the first time they do their signature handshake)
1/5 gayness, pretty platonic
1x10: environmental science
plot B
it's the "somewhere out there" episode what more do I need to say
3/5 gayness, something's happening fs
1x11: the politics of human sexuality
plot C
abed keeps beating troy in athletic competitions, making troy feel threatened. he eventually admits that abed is the better athlete and they make up
2/5 gayness, pretty platonic but it has its moments
1x22: the art of discourse
plot C
troy and abed work to complete abed's list of quintessential freshman year of college experiences list
2/5 gayness, they repeatedly put completing the list above looking cool in front of women
1x25: pascal's triangle revisited
plot C
troy is moving out of his dad's house and wants to move in with abed, but abed says no because he's afraid being that close and spending that much time together will result in constant annoyance, and will destroy their friendship
troy realizes that "too much of a good thing can be bad" and instead agrees to move in with pierce
1/5 gayness
2x02: accounting for lawyers
part of plot A
jeff gets sucked back into his old life as he reconnects with alan, a coworker from his old law firm. troy, abed, and annie try to gather proof that jeff's friend is the one who got him fired in the first place
more trobedison centric, and is actually the first episode where the three of them are established as a Trio™
"all I heard was suck" "YOU CHLOROFORMED THE JANITOR" "I usually have one foot out of reality and even I'm freaking out right now"
1/5 gayness, pretty platonic. they're the sillies ever I love trobedison
2x06: epidemiology
part of plot A
it's the zombie episode, come ON
trobed have coordinating costumes but troy bails during the party because he doesn't want to look lame and nerdy in front of women, which hurts abed's feelings
abed sacrifices himself to save troy once they are the last two standing during the "rabies pathogen" breakout
"I love you" "I know" (oh my GODDD sedate me)
5/5 gayness. you get it.
2x09: conspiracy theories and interior design
plot B
the original blanket fort 💯💯💯
2/5 gayness, just guys bein silly (and in love???)
2x15: early 21st century romanticism
plot B
troy and abed fall for the same girl and decide to take her to the valentine's dance together, after which she can decide which one of them she wants to date
she picks troy, but troy gets upset that she didn't pick abed (because why wouldn't she pick abed, he's so cool) and breaks it off almost immediately
I"happy valentine's day" "it is now"
5/5 gayness jesus christ this one is INSANE
2x18: custody law and eastern european diplomacy
plot B
britta likes troy and abed's new friend, lukka, who she finds out is a literal war criminal. she keeps this information from troy and abed because she doesn't want to ruin their friendship with him, but they find out eventually
2/5 gayness they're attached at the hip in this one
2x19: critical film studies
random moments
this episode is more focused on jeff and abed, but there's a lot of classic Troy Gets Jealous™ moments so I decided to include it. plus the end tag is them randomly having dinner together at the fancy restaurant (a date 😔)
basically troy is afraid that jeff is a cooler friend to abed than him
3/5 gayness even though they barely interact, troy is so silly
2x20: competitive wine tasting
part of plot B
I almost didn't include this one, and it's not even on my original list, but whatever
troy pretends to be traumatized, originally to seem less shallow in his acting class, but he keeps it going in order to attract britta. he tells abed about it and abed Does Not Like That At All
"troy. nothing good can come of this"
I wouldn't call abed being jealous a Rare Occurrence but he generally conceals it way better than troy does
2/5 gayness, could be interpreted as abed just worried about relationships forming under false pretense, but to Me he's jealous
2x22: applied anthropology and culinary arts
plot C
pierce buys the rights to troy and abed's handshake (a la Indecent Proposal) which "corrupts" it
"pierce tainted our special handshake with his blood money and now we can't get the magic baaaack :((((("
eventually they do indeed get the magic back
3/5 gayness idk there's something about the way they interact in this one that is inexplicably gay to me lmao
3x01: biology 101
plot C plus random moments
"speaking of figuring things out, me and abed have an announcement" "..." "troy and I are living together :D"
cougartown gets moved to midseason, then cougarton abbey ends after 6 episodes, abed's routine keeps getting thrown off, and troy is just extremely supportive and protective throughout
4/5 gayness troy loves him a lot!!!!!!
3x03: remedial chaos theory
random moments
(I know this ep is listed as 3x04 on streaming services but in canon it takes place here and on the dvds it's listed as 3x03. there's a joke about it in the episode too if you didn't know. anyway)
"troy and abed's new apartment!!!" "bienvenido a la casa chez trobed!" "wanna stay up all night talking in our bunk beds?"
all their pictures on the wall and their matching suits lol
the end tag "evil troy and evil abed" & troy's soft "what's wrong :("
3/5 gayness they're lowkey married your honor
3x05: horror fiction in seven spooky steps
random moments
troy's whole story he tells where they Literally become attached at the hip
"my partner"
troy dancing while abed's humming daybreak
2/5 gayness
3x06: advanced gay
plot B
troy deciding whether he wants to do plumbing or air conditioning and deciding all he really wants to do is watch tv with abed
gay symbolism? gay symbolism? gay symbolism?
4/5 gayness mostly for the conversation at the hawthorne wipes gathering. I could write an essay on just that
3x07: studies in modern movement
plot A
annie moves in with troy and abed. very trobedison centric
"kiss me woodsman troy!"
3/5 gayness once again casually in love they're soulmates your honor
3x09: foosball and nocturnal vigilantism
plot B
annie breaks abed's $200 special edition dark knight dvd set on accident, trobedison shenanigans ensue yippee!!!
"awww is that the grappling hook I got you for christmas???"
3/5 gayness for the same reasons as before
3x10: regional holiday music
part of plot A
literally putting this on here just because of the christmas infiltration rap (and baby boomer santa)
3/5 gayness it's glee club what can you do
3x11: contemporary impressionists
plot A
(once again, I know this episode is listed as 3x12 on streaming services, but in canon it's supposed to chronologically be here, and is listed as 3x11 on the dvds)
the study group helps abed pay off his debts to a celebrity impersonator website by playing characters at a bar mitzvah (after troy scolds them for trying to ground abed in reality)
they have an argument at the end ugh
3/5 gayness troy loves abed a lot and abed doesn't realize that he's doing something wrong
3x12: urban matrimony and the sandwich arts
plot C
(see the above disclaimer about episode order)
troy and abed decide to be normal for shirley's wedding rehearsal
troy and abed being normal 🤝
4/5 gayness they blow off a girl to be weird again
3x13: digital exploration of interior design
plot C
blanket fort: redux (oh god)
vice dean laybourne escalates what started as a minor disagreement in order to drive a wedge between troy and abed. it works
5/5 gayness, if a sitcom doesn't have the two codependent fanonical gays go through an unnecessarily dramatic "break up" then I don’t want it
3x14: pillows and blankets
plot A
🎶troy and abed are in conflict🎶 *cries*
pillow fort vs. blanket fort
they eventually make up but not before they hurt each others' feelings a Lot
5/5 gayness the dramatics jesus christ
3x16: virtual systems analysis
random moments
so this episode is more focused on abed and annie, and troy and abed actually don't Technically interact with each other very much at all, but. you know
abed kinda freaks out when troy and britta go on a date because it "messes with the fabric of the group" (🤨 I know what you are)
troy calls annie to "check on abed" boy you are on a date with a woman
4/5 gayness just from subtext you get it
3x17: basic lupine urology
random moments
troy and abed play detective as they try to figure out who sabotaged the group's biology project
"we can't both do the zinger"
4/5 gayness no explanation
3x19: curriculum unavailable
random moments
the study group is expelled from greendale and abed gets arrested for spying on campus, so he's supposed to have a psychological evaluation
troy is just very protective of him in this episode, plus the flashback clip where he and Annie are comforting him as he's freaking out about daylight savings
"our adventures are VERY manly"
4/5 gayness
3x21: the first chang dynasty
random moments
oof baboof with you two! (all the plumber shenanigans are hilarious)
mostly putting this one on here for the goodbye scene at the end of the episode, though. god
"he said, 'I know you hate when people do this in movies.' sorry I got emotional"
3x22: introduction to finality
plot B
abed "goes crazy" without troy (who's off at a/c repair school)
when troy comes back he prioritizes abed over britta (who he supposedly has romantic feelings for)
"I miss abed so much" "you're afraid you'll go crazy without troy"
4/5 gayness one could say they're a little codependent
4x03: conventions of space and time
plot A
troy gets jealous of (read: goes "psycho girlfriend on") abed's new inspector spacetime superfan friend toby
britta, even as troy's literal girlfriend, calls abed troy's boyfriend and supports troy through the whole thing
"for the first time in my long history of being locked inside things, I knew someone would come" let me just put my head through my wall really quick
5/5 gayness even though troy has a whole gf. that's how gay this episode is
4x11: basic human anatomy
plot A
troy and abed pretend to switch bodies, like in freaky friday, in order to help troy process his feelings about his relationship with britta
5/5 gayness holy SHIT y'all. I could write thousands of words on this episode. it is so hard to justify troy's actions in this one without reading him as a closeted gay person not lying
5x03: basic intergluteal numismatics
random moments
including this one because of how abed comforts troy and pushes him around in a wheelchair for the entire episode
3/5 gayness it's the casual married-ness again smh
5x04: cooperative polygraphy
random moments
this is another one I didn't include on my original list but I decided fuck it
the bit uncovering the actual origin of their patented handshake is so funny "I can't even look at you right now" "then you should know I'm crying"
also just the. look on abed's face when troy agrees to go on the trip at the end. "cool. cool cool cool." "that's a lie" UGHHHHH
4/5 gayness again. so typical
5x05: geothermal escapism
plot A
do I need to say a word
ouch ouch ouch OUCH
5/5 gayness especially the deleted dialogue from the last scene (I've posted it before but lmk if you don't know what I'm talking about. disclaimer it makes me want to launch myself off the empire state building)
alright. there it is folks. I was going to make another subsection of other random iconic trobed moments and cite the episodes they're from but basically every single episode has at least one, so that list would be Way too long to qualify as a supplement to this one lmao. however! if you have a Trobed Moment™ stuck in your head (or any Moment for that matter) and you can't remember which episode it's from feel free to ask me, I'm confident that my internal community database will be able to Remind You. anyway. hope this was helpful. bye

Okay, I'm completely into Community because of one (1) Abed Nadir and just saw a fic that had both Abed and Janet (The Good Place), and BOOM.
Oh. My. God.
The Good Place AU that nobody asked, but I just got completely obsessed with.
Tumblr media
Annie as Tahani. And maybe Shirley as Tahanni too. Both think they were, respectively, a great student and a great christian and, therefore, deserve to be in heaven. But Annie's competitive and selfish and Shirley's an hipocrite and passive-agressive, so their good deeds don't matter, because they didn't mean it and they made life hell to people around them.
Tumblr media
Jeff as Eleanor. I think that's self-explanatory. Jeff knows he doesn't deserve to be in the Good Place, he was a swindler: forged his diploma, acted as an lawyer for the rich and the bad guys for money, didn't have any friends and didn't care for anyone but himself.
Tumblr media
Troy as Jason, of course. He is not stupid, what good did he do to deserve to be in the Good Place? He faked an injury to run away of his problems, he is irresponsible, some people might say he is childish (he's not, thank you very much). In high school, he was a bully, didn't care about anything but parties and is a closeted nerd (who is ashamed of being a nerd, so he beats them up to make himself feel better about it). The one thing he isn't is a monk, though. He is definitely not a monk that practices the vow of silence, so he probably shouldn't be in the Good Place. But he is CERTAINLY not fond of going to the Bad Place, especially not once he finds the best friend he could ever have in the Good Pace.
Tumblr media
I think Britta would be Tahani too, actually: she is an activist that doesn't vote, a rebel without a cause. She is always talking about the time she helped a homeless guy, but hides the fact that she actually just gave him 25 cents and ONLY because she saw an ex-boyfriend leaving the store across the street. She can forgive racism, but draws a line at animal abuse, and so many other things. Just like Annie and Shirley, her motivations weren't in the right place. Also, she is the worst.
Tumblr media
Abed is Chidi and you can't change my mind. He isn't a bad person. He isn't, okay? He is just too sincere sometimes. Too smart, doesn't know how to express and read emotions, maybe a little bit too direct. One could even say that he could drive everyone a little bit crazy when he did homages of series and movies, or when he went full meta and treated life as a movie. Maybe he made people cry once or twice when he got a little bit too honest, you know? There was even this one professor that went crazy because he thought Abed was too spoiled (that professor is in the Good Place too, because he was disrespectful and full of shit, completely intolerant and ignorant of Abed's autism, by the way). But, if you ask Abed, he would say he is adorable, so everything is cool. Cool, cool, cool. The thing is, Abed may not be the greatest expert in human mind, but he is an expert in television and cinema, so he gets by. And, honestly, if you were to choose ANYONE from the study group, he is the innocent one, the one that could teach them how to deserve to be in the Good Place.
Tumblr media
Frankie as Janet? Frankie as Janet. Frankie is a problem solver. She is cool, she solves problems. Maybe, just maybe, she can be a little bit snob, but she knows EVERYTHING, so she also has the right to be a little snob, actually. Also, as she gets to know and befriends the group, she gets more and more human, and she loves them more and more.
Tumblr media
I thought about the Dean as Michael, but I didn't really buy it. Maybe, we can make it different this time: the Dean as a Michael that thinks the "Good Place" is actually the Good Place. He thinks he was good, so he got promoted, from devil to angel and his (Community College?) "Good Place" is legit. The one running the experiment is the City College Dean, somewhat like Shawn, but they are not partners, I think.
Tumblr media
Chang as Vicky? Actor, self-centered, a bit of an idiot and always ready to try and carry out a coup d'etat. He is a betrayer, that's what he does. But he gets to know the study group and grows to like them, so he always comes back to them and is ready to do crazy shit for them (even if he still back-stabs them once or twice, but it's not serious, okay?)
Tumblr media
Elroy is a second Janet, okay? Calm, patient, he is somebody that also tries to solve problems, even if he's not half as efficient as Frankie. But the Dean leaves him to deal with white people, because he's a compulsive "white-people complimenter" (I don't think this is a word, but you get what I mean).
Tumblr media
White people like Pierce, who is a piece of trash that thinks he is the best person ever. Racist, homophobic, sexist and a certified idiot. I can't think of a character equivalent in the Good Place, so Pierce will be another person that is "in the wrong place", but he never realized that. Not a single time in the 109.857 times the group realized they were in the Bad Place actually. Also, in most of those times, he was one of the reasons why the others realized they were in the Bad Place: if the Good Place let people like Pierce enter, well... Would they meet Trump there too? It didn't make sense.
If I ever do write this, it'd be Jabed or Trobed, because Abed is my baby (and I hate Jeff/Annie), and of course I'd make him the main main character.
That's it, folks, thanks for coming to my ted talk! (For now hehehe)

intro to valentines
I really wanted to finish this episode-style Valentine’s Day fic by tomorrow but that’s NOT going to happen, especially because I wrote the last scenes first and now have no incentive to write whatever leads up to it. But I liked the end scene and wanted to share it because idk holiday spirit and trobed love and all that <3
General plot idea (none of which is actually in this scene lol): Abed is chock-full of grand gestures for Valentine’s Day but has no date, so Shirley and Annie set out to find him one. Jeff demands Abed tell him how he’s so good at wooing women (and men, for that matter), and Abed gives him all his grand ideas for the holiday. Troy is weirdly, inexplicably livid at the idea of Abed getting a date for the holiday, and Britta helps him work through his feelings.
MUSIC CUE: “Greendale Is Where I Belong” by Ludwig Goransson
Troy approaches Abed, hands in his pocket and posture stiff. He smiles nervously.
TROY
Hey.
ABED (equally nervous, hands fidgeting at his side)
Hey.
  TROY
So...that valentine was pretty cool.
(beat)
Was it supposed to look like one of those giant valentines you always see in cartoons? Because -
  ABED
(knowing exactly what Troy is going to say)
Because you love when things look the way they look in cartoons, yeah.
  TROY (smile growing)
Yeah, I do.
The boys smile at each other for a moment before Troy glances down, shuffling his feet.
  TROY
So I, uh...I never really had a Valentine before.
  ABED
Neither have I. And TV holiday specials usually end with the acquisition of the Valentine, so I don’t really have a script for what comes after this part.
(He pauses for a beat, then, more quietly:)
But I really like you, Troy.
TROY (a soft, looking-at-Abed expression on his face)
You do?
Abed smiles and nods.
  TROY (quietly)
I’ve never dated a guy before.
  ABED
I know.
  TROY (after a deep breath)
But if there’s anyone I trust to be my first boyfriend, it’s you.
  ABED (eyes wide)
You want to be boyfriends?
  TROY (foot in his mouth)
Uh, no!? Not if you don’t want that! Did I say boyfriend? I meant, uh, koi friend. Like, we could be friends that just chill out by koi ponds together, and -
Abed puts a hand on Troy’s shoulder comfortingly. Troy visibly relaxes.
  ABED
Troy. I really, really want to be your boyfriend. It’s why I orchestrated this whole thing.
Troy gestures to where Jeff is frantically lighting a fuse that connects to his entire firework display.
  TROY
So the whole firework show...even though Jeff is setting it up now, that’s still for me?
Abed looks over his shoulder, as if surprised to find the rest of the study group still there.
  ABED
Oh, that? No, I think that’s going to be a total trainwreck. I’m not sure those fireworks are even legal.
  TROY (eyes wide)
What!? Then why did you give them to Jeff!?
  ABED
Because I needed everyone to be distracted so I could do this.
Behind them, Jeff’s fireworks erupt in a cacophonous, disastrous-sounding symphony. Onlookers wince and cover their ears. One misfiring firework veers sideways and launches itself directly into a garbage can, the contents of which immediately burst into flames. Jeff runs to the garbage can, panicked, while Britta doubles over in laughter, Shirley’s hands cover her mouth in horror, and Annie shrieks. The onlookers are in various states of disarray, some calling 911, some screaming for help, some running toward or away from the fire in panic.
In the midst of the pandemonium, while everyone is distracted, Abed gently cups Troy’s face in his hand and leans in to kiss him softly. Troy gasps, then melts into the kiss, his hands coming up to grip Abed’s arms. After a moment, Abed pulls away.
  TROY (eyes even wider now)
Woah.
  ABED (smiling, almost in disbelief)
Yeah.
(beat)
Before, when you said first boyfriend, is that because you’re already planning on having more boyfriends in the future, or -
  TROY (emphatically)
Uh, absolutely not, you can be my forever boyfriend if you’re going to kiss me like that again. That was awesome.
Abed smiles wider and pulls Troy close for an even deeper kiss. When he pulls away, Troy is looking at him like Abed put the stars in the sky just for him.
  ABED
Want to go watch movies and probably make out a lot?
  TROY
Get out of my brain, dude. That sounds amazing.
They perform their handshake, then Abed grabs Troy’s hand with a shy smile. Troy looks nervous, but then grins and nods. They walk toward Abed’s dorm, away from the pandemonium in front of the library, hand in hand.
  END TAG
Troy and Abed are sitting next to each other on a couch in the library, just as they are in the end tag of “Spanish 101” (season 1 episode 2). Abed beatboxes and taps out a rhythm on his textbook with his pencil.
TROY (rapping)
¿Dónde está la biblioteca? Me llamo T-Bone, la araña discoteca.
Cut to: Jeff, Shirley, Annie and Britta are watching. Shirley looks bewildered, Britta looks bored, Annie taps her foot impatiently and Jeff checks his watch.
  BRITTA
Come on, guys, is this really what you wanted to show us?
  JEFF
Yeah, we’ve heard this stupid rap already.
(Troy and Abed ignore their friends and continue rapping.)
The rap ends. Instead of waiting for applause, Troy and Abed just grin at each other and lean in. Abed grab’s the back of Troy’s neck and pulls him in for a loud smack of a kiss.
  SHIRLEY
Oh, Lord have mercy…
  BRITTA (laughing in disbelief)
Woah!
  ANNIE (gasping)
Do you mean you two -
  JEFF (with a shit-eating grin)
Well, I’ll be damned.
Abed smiles at the group. Troy can’t pull his heart-eyes away from Abed.
  SHIRLEY
Well, you two better treat each other right, you hear me? I’ll kick both your asses if you do anything to hurt each other.
  JEFF
Shirley, look at them. I think they’re gonna be fine.
Troy slips his hand into Abed’s, while Abed’s smile grows.
  ABED
Happy Valentine’s Day, everybody.
  FADE OUT.

The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince - an essay - Part 1
Because of reasons (it all started with Parasite) I rewatched „Coffee Prince“. To be honest it is probably the third or fourth rewatch and it was the second K-Drama I have ever seen. It has been a few years since the last rewatch and this time it was something special.
First of all I knew I loved it, but I didn’t expect THIS amount of feelings I got. Probably because the protagonists are now around my own age and I myself had some character growth. And because I realised a bit about my own gender identity. So I’m gonna try and divide my observations into several parts.
 Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6
1) The actors.
This time I came back to Coffee Prince because of Lee Kyun-Sun.
He’s been in Parasite and I was surprised how well he had aged. His acting was amazing and so I came back to Coffee Prince. Which is now why I need to watch Parasite in Korean again. His voice is so nice to listen to!
Generally speaking the whole cast is amazing! They really had a lot of stars in it and drove this Drama forward. The cast actually is the reason the drama is amazing as it is. There have been several remakes and the girl-disguises-as-guy-Trope was really popular back then. Coffee Prince still stood out! Looking at the main actors makes it clear very soon. Gong Yoo and Yoon Eun-Hye are amazing actors and have an outstanding chemistry together!
Gong Yoo has an amazing range of emotions. I’ve seen him in several dramas and movies till now, so I know what he’s able to do. Still, only in this one romance drama he shows so much! He’s the cool and charming guy who’s in control. The guy who’s unsure of his own future and the guy who actually likes to play with toys (another part I really enjoyed - a grown man unapologetically loves to play with toys and to create his own universe!) and is emotionally immature while at the same time openly caring for his mother and grandmother. You can see his inner conflicts thanks to the way Gong Yoo portrayed him, can see the way he kind of doesn’t believe anyone actually loves him. Or as if he thinks he doesn’t deserve to be loved like that. He’s unsure and drawn back while still being able to laugh and cry. And holy shit, he cries and laughs. Gong Yoo is perfect at acting very subtle and completely overdramatic. He can make me bawl my eyes out and laugh so loud I can’t breathe just seconds apart. The way he portrays the desperation, the love, the humor and the anger of Choi Han-Gyul is outstanding and I have my highest respect for him! He isn’t afraid to cry and smile this damn smile. You know which one! Also the way he portrayed Han-Gyuls inner conflict when he realises he’s fallen for this little devil is perfect. You feel with him, feel his helplesness and how his whole world has fallen and broken and he tries desperately to make some sense out of it, which is why his emotions and decisions change so often. More on that later ...All in all, Gong Yoo is the perfect cast and I love this man. He’s talented, he seems funny, he’s not afraid to jump genres and he’s so damn hot! His attractiveness gets even bigger with all those smiles and open emotions he shows.
Yoon Eun-Hye ... wow ... I mean she’s an amazing actress, I adore her! She and Ha Ji-Won are my favourites, which is probably because they starred in some of my first K-dramas. And because of their roles, but they act very well. As I have said there were a lot of tomboy-disguises-as-guy-dramas and movies around 2010. It was almost like a disease and it’s a problematic trobe as well. Most of the times the „tomboys“ were either trying to behave like a guy (Hana Kimi, You’re beautiful) or looked very much like women (Sunkyungwan Scandal, although I love Park Min Young and she did a good job, but she looked still very much like a woman, so ...). Yoon Eun-Hye as Koh Eun-Chan was something different. Her character had to be the breadwinner, but when we saw a flashback to the time her dad was still alive she was already very much a tomboy wearing a tie and being quite wild. And she still is. Even the way she dresses in her daily life and the way she moves and behaves, are very much nonbinary. She’s full of life, but doesn’t conform to any expectations about sitting like a girl or even a boy. Her legs are always up somewhere, she can’t sit still, she loves food and has no hesistance to tell her opinion or to yell when she’s angry and to laugh and jump around when she’s happy. She’s very slim and with the clothes she wears, her hairstyle and the way she seems to wear no make-up, make her actually seem like a guy. Yoon Eun-Hye portrays this nonbinary person so well with the way she walks and holds herself, her whole mimic as well! And damn, she’s good at emotions as well! At some point she was tearing up in almost every scene and it made me cry as well. Her laughter and her emotions were portrayed so raw and pure, I couldn’t but feel with her in every scene. I fell for her Eun-Chan while at the same time ... I wanted to be her. More about that later. All in all, Yoon Eun-Hye acted very well in this drama, giving Eun-Chan a very unique, authentic and beautiful life. Outside maybe from Ella Chen I’ve never seen someone portray someone nonbinary (or of another gender) so beautifully. It wasn’t based on cliches or over the top. I would have loved to be friends with Eun-Chan and Yoon Eun-Hye did this.
Lee Sun-Kyun portrays Han-Sung very well. He’s perfect for this collected and calm guy, who’s full of emotions but is very much in control of them. I loved how he portrayed Han-Sung as a succesful man who was in a grown up relationship and who was able and ready to get face masks with his girlfriend and being emotional available without making him seem ridiculous. While Gong Yoo’s character shows his anger and sadness openly, Lee Sun-Kyun was able to show Han-Sungs emotions very subtle. He played him very passive and only when he was completely desperate he kind of exploded, hating himself for it. I think he did it well, especially the cute scenes with Eun-Chan when he smiled happily and you could see he was at ease with her, enjoying their time. Well done, Mister Lee Sun-Kyun.
The same goes for Chae Jung-An. She played Han Yoo-Joo as this responsible grown-up who slowly loses control because her world turns upside down. She’s the beautiful one, but one can’t help and like her. Almost fall for her like Han-Gyul did. I really liked her character even when she slowly started to get angry about Eun-Chan, because it made her whole world fall apart. Which was, to be honest, revolving around her. Even when I was of another opinion as her character, Chae Jung-An portrayed her conflicted feelings very well and made me believe her inner turmoil and her fears and her love. And the way she acted with Lee Sun-Kyun? Beautiful! Those two had such an amazing chemistry, it was wonderful! They were so much at ease with each other, showing those easy and cute interactions realistically as well as those moments of doubt and anger.
Everytime I watch Coffee Prince I get very sad about the loss of Lee Eon. He seemed like a nice and wonderful guy, who had noch fear of laughing about himself, but who portrayed such a genuine, innocent and cute character. Thank you, Lee Eon!
And at last because I won’t do everyone: It’s been nice seeing Kim Jae-Wook again. Here he portrays such a cool and chill character with ease, making me fall for him as easily as all those girls in the drama did.
