Arms are open for baby to move and snaps are at the shoulders. Also, snaps are at the bottom to make diaper changes easy and allows you to leave open as baby grows. The length from shoulder to feet is 23 inches which will fit a baby from 0 to 6 months and with bottom snaps open even longer than that. The only exception is the purple sack which is 20 inches long so with the bottom closed, it will depend on the length of your baby, how long it will last.
