Names turn out to be a big hit among the clones -vod’a, they call themselves, to Jango’s eternal chagrin- and pretty soon no one remembers that Cody was the first one of them to hold a name between both his hands.

Some vod’e name themselves, while others are named by those around them. The Kaminoans are vexed by the phenomenon and even have them all tested, but finally seem to decide it’s harmless enough, and no none gets decommissioned.

Not that Cody doesn’t worry about that--he sleeps with an eye open every night for a fortnight, certain he’ll be dragged out into the yard and shot, or maybe dropped into a vat of acid. Yet when it doesn't happen and life resumes as usual here in their little kennels in Kamino, it feels--he doesn’t know.

“Anticlimactic,” Jango tells him as Cody puts together a bomb with dextrous fingers.

There’s others in the testing room, but Jango always seems to circle back to him. Bly and Colt are nearby having the time of their lives making more and more destructive explosives under the instructor’s proud but slightly horrified gaze, while Bacara seems to be crafting what looks like a sonic charge. Everyone gives her a wide berth.

“The opposite of climax, or lacking climax,” Cody muses, slotting wires carefully. Frowning, he looks up at Jango, “I don’t get it,”

Jango gives him a considering look, “It means you were expecting a big fallout, and nothing happened, and that somehow--disappoints you,”

Cody doesn’t scoff-his self control is too tight for him to be giving away so much- but his finger twitches. He stares at it.

“I’m not disappointed at not being decommissioned,” he says finally, softly as not to be heard by the others. The very thought seems idiotic.

Jango shrugs. "Perhaps you're disappointed that something so important to you doesn't mean much, in the great scheme of things,"

Cody doesn't reply, and Jango lets him be.

The great scheme of things should note matter much, to a clone, but Cody thinks maybe he's built diferent.

Maybe each of them are.

not something that you put to bed: my first foray into soft wars! lmao, i was super nervous with this one lol but I do still like it more than i usually like my fics! And i was happy with how this one came out. It’s Edee squad centric, specifically Neyo and Fox interaction and yeah, there’s a reason i joke that my brand is trauma recovery dkjfskjdf.

don’t break the bottle: my second go at soft wars and I do still like this one, it’s Cody and Neyo centric, around Cody getting Neyo’s pledge and dealing with leftover stuff from Priest’s training. There’s things i’d def try and do better but, its nice and not as bad as i feared nkjdfjnd.

sins of the father: this is a second person Boba Fett character study and I do actually still adore it. it kicked off it’s own series actually, that I cowrite with @graaaaceeliz and has expanded far past what i thought would be just a tiny little oneshot to put my boba and jango feelings. It was a fun adventure into writing in a writing perspective i dont use much and helped me get a bit of a grasp on both Boba and Jango

and the whisper in your head goes quiet: another 2nd person Boba fic, made people mad at me jdfnsjkf. Includes the hc that Boba had a chip and it malfunctioned and Jango had the Kaminoans remove it.

the hum in the air (and the gentle love): was really nice to write and i do still love how soft it is,though there are things i’d def change. It’s a soft little codywan oneshot with poetry.

gentling the edges: Neyo and babies, im just...so soft, there is so much soft

little darling: Fox and babies, because i am so soft still over babies and the older clones okay.

you will be alone, always: was a fun one, made some people cry lol. Obi-Wan centric, canon compliant, with hints of QP Codywan.

love or the lack of it: Bly and Neyo centric, lots of fun to write lol. Soft wars, and im still quite pleased with it. a bit heavy, heed the tags.

the art of the mind: Soft wars, Jet and Bacara Centric. i loved exploring them more honestly, i kinda wanna do something else with them.

setting fire to our insides for fun (to distract our hearts from ever missing them): in which dick is sad, bruce is gone, and dick really just wants his dad, his sleep-deprived mind decides to be kind, because the world is not, this one made me sad

i have tried to hoard your love (and found it slipping through my fingers): a look at Jason and books, and the complex thing that is a childs need to be loved

fault lines: A fic about recovery and the difficulties, or; Dick Grayson and trauma, recovery, and his siblings. Something’s wrong with all of them but they work through it, eventually.

this one is a rough ride, still a WIP and it deals with a lot of heavy topics, flashbacks, trauma and discussions of the trauma, deaths, injuries, rape, broken relationships and dysfunctional ones, borderline abusive behaviour, talks about all of the above, and the healing process. Tread lightly with this one as it deals with heavy topics in it’s quest to say fuck you to certain dc writers.

note: we all know we’re okay with this kind of shit because cody fern is basically a shapeshifter who looks like a different man in every character and it’s fucking hot. anyway, I started writing a little something about Michael’s sexual awakening, search for a partner, and also just dirty sex. he meets Duncan Shepherd (a dark!Duncan for sure) and it’s basically game over for both of them - lots of tension, lots of introspection, lots of manipulation, and lots of sex. this is a little excerpt from the middle of what i’ve written so far; any comments or suggestions would be appreciated! and as always, if you ever have any requests for xavier, michael, or duncan fics, hit me up. 

"One June, he found himself in D.C., a city he’d visited once before that fascinated him endlessly. There was so much power, money, and, most deliciously, corruption flowing down every street in the city. Sometimes he would spend most of the day sitting within comfortable viewing distance of the White House, daydreaming about having so much power. He very well knew he was technically more powerful than any fucking world leader, and that, if he really wanted (and if it wasn’t such a dumb idea) he could easily walk right in and seize control. But what stopped him (more than the fact that he hadn’t exactly worked out a plan for the apocalypse yet) was that there wasn’t as much fun in just storming in and getting what he wanted without any strategy or finesse. What really drew him in was the idea of earning the office – any position of power – under a sweet, god-fearing guise, tricking a nation, the world, and then slowly destroying things from the inside out. Just thinking about it gave him a rush – he’d be lying if he said he didn’t think about it sometimes when he got off at night.

Fifteen days into his stay, at an uncomfortably ritzy bar downtown that he was having a hard time navigating – for all his sexual prowess and worldly experience, sometimes he still felt like just a boy who wasn’t clued in to the world of adulthood in the slightest. Around 10:30, he happened to look across the room and lock eyes with a man that made Michael feel like he was staring straight through him.

Michael flashed him a teasing smile, bit his tongue the way he knew drove people crazy, and turned back to his beer that didn’t quite taste good but at least made him look like he knew what he was doing. A few minutes later, he felt hot breath on his neck and a whisper of stubble brushing it.

“You’re quite a flirt, huh?”

Michael shivered as the man sat across from him, leaning back and crossing his legs casually. Honestly, the confident look on the man’s face was making him angry. He was supposed to be the smug one, not the people he went home with. Even if Michael was submitting to someone else, it was because he wanted to, because he’d decided it was what he wanted that night. He wasn’t supposed to feel flustered around some asshole at a bar. But as quickly as the anger came up, he swallowed it back down. Maybe this was a good sign, he told himself. A more level playing field, maybe.

“And you're quite the predator.” He took another drink and tried to hide the grimace on his face at the taste.

“What’s a young, innocent thing like you doing out here tonight?” The man laughed - presumably at the absurdity of what he'd just said - and Michael huffed and rolled his eyes.

“I’m not young, and I’m definitely not innocent.”

“Oh, yeah? You don’t look a day over 20 and you can’t even get a – what is that, Yuengling? – to go down easy.” The man smirked, and Michael considered throwing his drink in his face and then maybe slitting his throat with a shard of broken glass. “How old are you anyway, sweetheart?”

Michael hesitated. There was an official number on his ID, but that was nominal – he knew he’d grown up too fast, too unnaturally, and he was never quite sure how old he actually felt. It varied, sometimes week to week, someimes day to day, sometimes minute to minute; it was fucking exhausting. But he went with the official, government issued number. “I’m 23.” He took another drink of his beer, giving the man a pointed look as he forced a straight face again.

The man hummed. “I’m 30.”

“Good.” It was out of his mouth before he could stop himself, but it was the first response he felt he could confidently back. And apparently it was the right answer – the man hissed in a breath and shifted in his seat.

“Yeah? You like that I'm older?”

“You like that I’m 23.” He gave the man a steely glance, raising an eyebrow ever so slightly. The man didn’t respond, just hardened his own gaze.

“I’m Duncan.”

Michael couldn’t help but laugh quietly. “What are you, a fucking farmer?”

A murderous look flashed through Duncan’s eyes – a look Michael had seen in the mirror many times himself – as he straightened, then smiled coldly. “And what’s your name, you little brat?”

“I’m Michael.”

“Do you want to leave with me, Michael?”

Michael almost shivered. Sure, this guy was really pissing him off, but at the same time he’d never felt so painfully drawn to someone. There was darkness, real darkness, emanating from Duncan that Michael could practically smell. It wasn’t the satanic, human-sacrifice, blood-ritual, world-ending darkness that filled Michael from head to toe. It was something else – something manipulative, calculating, and dangerously emotionless. Michael’s darkness burned red hot, was the color of fresh blood and fire, but Duncan’s was cold and black. And Michael wanted it.

“Yes.” He stood slowly, eyeing Duncan the entire time. “I haven’t paid yet, though.” He flashed an innocent smile, and Duncan stood, slightly taller than him and looking down with an amused look on his face.

“Don’t worry about that, baby.” He kept eye contact with Michael while he pulled a few bills from his wallet and turned to hand them to the nearest bartender. “Come on, I’ll call an Uber.”

Now, he has to fly his least favorite Jedi on a dangerous mission, and things take an early turn for the worse.

Bloody Escape by Sulis57:  4k, Gen, complete Summary: Obi-Wan Kenobi and Asajj Ventress barely escape with their lives after a dangerous encounter with Darth Maul and Savage Opress. Trapped together in a small shuttle, these one-time enemies must put their differences aside in order to find their way back to civilization. Things get complicated when Ventress realizes Kenobi has been gravely wounded. Will he survive the long journey or will his blood be on her hands?

Banthas and Metaphors by lajulie24: Oooooh ok this is so so cute and I can’t stand it! These big dorks are so unsure around each other but so tender and caring, and Leia’s biting sarcasm throughout, and both of their insistence that the OTHER one not put their life at risk for the cause, but when THEY do it, no, of course, it was logical and okay, it’s just so telling and Han and Leia taking turns patching each other up put a big goofy smile on my face. So much love to this little ficlet.

Broken by Revenge by Pandora151: DECEPTION ARC FEELS!! Oh, the scene with the medics before Obi-Wan knocked out was so potent, poor baby, he gets so much hurt and deserves none of it. So much careful detail is put into this fic and it really shines. AND THEN there’s Anakin and Ahsoka, and poor Anakin still reeling from the emotional roller coaster of losing Obi-Wan and then almost losing him again, and being torn between relief and anger and Obi-Wan just doesn’t GET it which I think is really in-character, it’s so easy to see it through each of their eyes, and how these horrible, destructive decisions seemed logical at the time and how they reveal the faults within the Jedi Order itself. Everybody is so human and fallible in this story, it’s really well done and packs an emotional punch both emotionally and physically for Obi-Wan.

Dangerous Territories by Plodder: Ouch. Just ouch. Major props to this one for not shying away from the medical details and making sure we’re all VERY AWARE of how much pain poor Obi is in (and love note to the part where Cody comments, shit, if you’re admitting that you’re injured it must be serious because honestly he’s right Kenobi). I liked the awkwardness of the relationship between them, because in this AU they never really got the chance to work through all the TPM issues, and their first impressions of each other are all they really have moving forward and I loved this unique take on their relationship in the wake of that. Also Anakin taking care of him even when they don’t know each other that well (and hello, BLANKET SHARING) was uhhhhh-mazing.

Bloody Escape by Sulis57: I’ve never recced a fic starring Ventress before!! This is definitely a step off the beaten path as far as hurtcomfort stories go, and it was so interesting to see these two characters thrown together and how awkward it is for Ventress to be thrust into a role where Obi-Wan’s life is in her hands, and poor Obi is in so much pain but still manages to banter with her which is so him, but they are both really aware of their awkward enemies-to-tentative-allies relationship. I liked the introspection about the crossroads Ventress is at in her own life at that moment as well as all the sweet, wonderful hurtcomfort <3

Young Sheldon /S01\/E01\ Pilot Airdate: September 25, 2017 @CBS Ratings: 16.57 Million :: 3.7 18-49 Demo Share Score: 6.75/10 @SpotlightSaga @CulturePit *************SPOILER FREE REVIEW************* Oh, what a shame... Did we miss the party? You know, I’m not really sure who the demographic is that is giving ‘The Big Bang Theory’ all of its monstrous numbers... Ok, well, I have an idea... But I’d hate to get ahead of myself like my other half, Cody Cole. Besides, everyone is allowed a handful of ‘Guilty Pleasures’, right? I sure as hell know that I’ve got mine. Even tho I don’t use the account anymore, I used to have a Spotify Playlist for songs that appeared on the UPN turned CW Series ‘One Tree Hill’. And yes, that’s embarrassing, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s very much true. I love ‘One Tree Hill’ and I cried like a little baby in S9 when (of course, you know I’m not going to reveal any spoilers, right?) the culmination of the main story arc that started the show off, came to one of the most tearful & satisfying conclusions ever on television. Yes, I love that show that fn’ much, ridiculous, I know... I pretend that S8 didn’t happen... But hey, when you run 9 Seasons of 20-25 Episodes, you’re bound to get some bad ideas some of the time. Now’s when you breathe your big sigh of relief... Judging by its pilot, ‘Young Sheldon’ doesn’t appear to fall in the category of ‘Guilty Pleasure’. Quite the opposite, actually. Remember how we all felt after the 1st Season of CBS ’Life In Pieces’. That hopeful, feel-good spirit was attached to something uniquely constructed with a powerhouse cast, something that didn’t normally happen on CBS, at least in such high quality... A Single Camera Sitcom. While ‘Young Sheldon’ may not look completely unique at first glance, its admittedly giving off a ‘Goldbergs-Mature’ vibe, and that’s hard to deny... But what originality it lacks within the walls of its narrative construct, it more than makes up in a fresh, restrained approach. The normal, tv-family chaos is still there, but at the epicenter of the organized madness, we have an observer... He’s not exactly a reliable narrator in theory, but he is in character. You see, Sheldon tells it like it is... And since this is something that pretty much all human children are known for... Famed Co-Creators & Co-Writers Chuck Lorre & Steven Molaro make sure that Little-Man, Iain Armitage (YS), turns up the awkward observations, just like his very own grown version and narrator, Big Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) from TBBT. I’m not so sure Young Sheldon is meant to be abnormally cute, or likable for that matter. The show approaches normal, southwestern families in the 80s with a pragmatic point of view. It’s existential in nature, and feels like a show that could also feel right at home on a Streaming Network like Amazon Prime. Lorre & Armitage also know that since this is from a child’s POV, the world is scary is nature... Even to the smartest, brightest minds around. Rarely do we cover CBS Sitcoms, although we’ve been known to indulge in Bear Claw Heaven with Kevin James on ‘Kevin Can Wait’, and we’re basically almost there with the aforementioned ‘Life In Pieces’... It just had a rough S2. You see, CBS has been gearing up; polishing up the CBS All Access Network, of course TBBT is always a Network Focus, reshooting entire episodes of Star Trek, and making sure Big Brother #768 (or whatever season its on) keeps steady numbers... It’s strange when you think of all the factors that can have some sort of snowball effect on the finished product of a Big 4 Network TV Series. It shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone that clearly the Network Giant’s focus has also very much been on this show as well. It’s clear, crystal clear, that CBS is very much behind ‘Young Sheldon’. To say this series was handled with care is an understatement. It’s polished, introspective, and brushes off chances to pull cheap laughs... Everything a normal CBS Sitcom doesn’t do. Even the placement of its pilot’s timeslot, garnering such big numbers off of the Season Premiere of its parent show, TBBT, has never really turned results in such spectacular fashion as it did here... Holding all 16.5 Live Million Viewers from the first half hour and keeping the mass majority of its coveted 18-49 demographic too. I guarantee they nurse this bad boy all the way through an ungodly amount of episodes. Why not? Honestly, it works. ‘The Goldbergs’ are growing up, right out of the 80s, and AMC’s ‘Halt and Catch Fire’ is heading into its 4th & final season. There’s a niche and it needs to be filled, and it looks like we have our first guest. Many of us have a deep connection to this era the show is set in, but none of us have seen it through this kind of lens. The big question isn’t the quality... You know CBS, it’s about money and longevity, because longevity not only brings in a steady supply of money, it also gives them something to brand... But that’s kind of why it’s so surprising that ‘Young Sheldon’ isn’t coming right out of the gate trying to push anything other than its own value. I have a strict policy when it comes to Sitcoms, whether they’re multi-cam or single-cam, doesn’t matter... Each series gets a fair shake... And a 21 Minute Episode built off a general idea will not tell you how far a show can go or how good a show will be.... Theres just no way! All kinds of shows out there start slow and then end up turning out relentless bangers on a regular basis, a few episodes, or even a season or 2 down the road... And then there is the exact opposite, where we see a show start out red hot and straight up fizzle out like a fading star right before our very eyes. I think it’s important for everyone to not judge this one too quickly... Maybe ‘Young Sheldon’ isn’t for that same ‘TBBT’ audience, maybe it’s meant to strike a different chord.
