He steps closer—slow, deliberate. The heat is unbearable, his skin screams, but he refuses to flinch.

“Tch. Look at you,” he sighs, stepping closer, ignoring the flames curling around his uniform. “Terrifying, destructive—you’re lucky I like dangerous women.”

“You’re so dramatic, you know that?” His voice is steady, unwavering. “What, are you going to cry next? Maybe throw in some evil laughter? Go full villain for me?”

The flames pulse, waver. His eyes narrow.

He doesn’t hesitate when he sees the burns on your arms. His jaw tightens, his hands clenching at his sides.

But then—his fingers graze yours, barely a touch. His voice drops.

When you don’t respond, he taps your forehead lightly—just enough to snap you out of it. “Hey. Did you hear me?”

His usual smirk is gone. His gaze is piercing, serious.

A new Tododeku AU idea for you!

First bit of background for the AU:

Turns out OFA is not the only quirk that can be passed from person to person. In fact, some transferable quirks don’t even leave one person when they transfer to another, instead potentially spreading to more and more people as time goes on. One such quirk: Lycanthropy.

Since spreadable quirks often come with severe drawbacks (like turning into a literal wild animal every full moon), and there is seemingly no limit to their spread, they are of great concern to the government. Typically governments will detain and separate victims from the populace at large to prevent additional spread.

Enter the Midoriyas:

Hisashi Midoriya had the great misfortune of being bitten by a lycanthrope while working abroad. Before his condition was discovered and he was tracked down and detained by the Japanese government, his wife, Inko became pregnant. Nine months later, Izuku was born! A few weeks later, during the full moon, her baby boy became a baby wolf.

Already devastated by the forced separation from her husband, the last thing Inko wanted was her son to be taken away as well! Besides, he has nipped her several times without her contracting the quirk, so being passed to one’s offspring seems to have disrupt the usual method of transfer somehow. Inko resolves to hide her son’s condition so she can keep her son with her and free from imprisonment.

As he grows up, Izuku doesn’t develop his own quirk (he still has the toe joint) but he discovers he can actually transform himself into a wolf at will, and retains his human intelligence when he does so. While he’s not allowed to transform where anyone can see him, he and Inko find that his full moon ‘pure wolf’ self is much more mellow and manageable as long as he undergoes frequent willing transformations to bleed off some of his energy. Izuku starts roaming around the local forested area as a wolf some nights.

Enter the Shouto:

Shouto, like in canon, is prevented from making friends and is isolated from much of his family. After he is burned and his mother is sent away, he starts sneaking out to the back of the Todoroki estate at night for just a little bit of freedom.

One night, Shouto comes across this cute, green ‘dog’ in his back yard. He’s never been allowed a pet, but surely it’s okay to talk to and play with the stray as long as nobody finds out, right? The ‘dog’ visits him frequently, cuddles with him, listens to his troubles, and is an all around excellent companion for the lonely boy.

What Shouto doesn’t notice is how slowly the ‘dog’ ages (human boy slowly), how clever the ‘dog’ is (he picks up on commands incredibly fast), that the ‘dog’ is never around during the full moon (Izuku is stashed away at home then)… or that it’s actually a wolf! He hasn’t really been around many dogs, and has only gleaned little bits of information from the internet and various media, so it all seems perfectly normal.

From there, canon more or less occurs, but Izuku must hide his lycanthrope secret and do his best to support his best friend, who still thinks his wolf self is a dog. Shenanigans ensue!

Example shenanigans:

After human Izuku and Shouto become friends, and Shouto wants to introduce his new friend to his ‘dog’…

Shouto shows off pictures of his ‘dog’ to his classmates. (“Uh, Shouto, that’s clearly a wolf.”)

Shouto meets an actual dog and is distraught by how ‘stupid’ it is. (He doesn’t know most dogs are confused by commands buried in complex sentences… and that it takes a while for them to learn new things.)

Shouto confesses about his newly forming crush on Izuku to his ‘dog’ who seems weirdly embarrassed about the whole thing (covers his nose with his paws).

Omg this is amazing, the possibilities are endless! I love it! 👀👀👀

Also, Shoto not knowing what a dog looks like is killing me 😭

Ok, so this really is just a baby wip. I've just jotted down notes and things I want to incorporate.

Basic Idea, All Might and Gran Torino realize that the successor needs to be quirkless and through some amount of shenanigans they learn that Endeavors second son is quirkless. Knowing how strong and driven Endeavor is he seems like a natural choice. Natsu will get OFA at the same age that Izuku got it, so by the time the events of S1 begin Natsuo is on his way to the top ten. It's also going to be a quirkless!Izuku in the hero course. It's probably gonna end up being a big screw you Endeavor fic.

Natsuo will be the protag but we'll see glimpses of our class 1-A once Natsuo's a pro hero and Shoto is in UA. Izuku will have made it in being quirkless and I don't really know where I'll go from there.

I know it would be an adjustment but I would try so hard to support them and be understanding I love my step babies 💕
