Bollywood Movies Part CLII
Surya (Prithviraj Sukumaran), a demolitions expert, joins his adopted brother Ajmal (Neeraj Madhav) and family friend Gayathri (Divya Pillai) to get revenge for the deaths of his family and her brother.
Oozham does have a cliched story, but it’s well acted and well directed. I enjoyed the narrative structure quite a bit. My favorite performance, aside from the main characters, is that of Rasna Pavithran as Surya’s sister Aishwarya. The movie did had some bits that still don’t make sense, like the end, but I enjoyed it. Favorite song is Ee Yaathrakal (no subtitles).
Jai Verma (Sidharth Malhotra) has misgivings about his imminent marriage to Diya Kapoor (Katrina Kaif) when he begins to jump forward in time. He witnesses many events but his jumps always prove a learning curve, and Jai learns things don’t turn out the way he truly wants.
Baar Baar Dekho is an interesting movie that would have been much better if it ended ten minutes earlier. As it is, Jai’s journey through time is fairly interesting, although the movie is a bit long and drags a times. Overall an okay movie. Favorite songs are Kho Gaye Hum Kahan and Teri Khair Mangdi. Neither song has subtitles.
Ayan (Ranbir Kapoor) and Alizeh (Anushka Sharma) meet in London and become friends, and Ayan falls in love with Alizeh. Alizeh doesn’t return his feelings and gets married to her off and on boyfriend Ali (Fawad Khan). Ayan meets Saba (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) and hooks up with her, but uses her to try to make Alizeh jealous.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is about a man who can’t deal with being friend zoned. I loved everyone in the movie except Ranbir Kapoor as Ayan. The actual plot was really stupid and the movie was too long. Shah Rukh Khan has a great cameo as the person Ayan should have been but was not. Favorite songs are The Breakup Song and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (english, lyrical).
#the great venture into Bollywood#becomes the great venture into malayalam cinema#oozham is malayalam#oozham is also rasna pavithran's first role#baar baar dekho would have been a lot more courageous and a better story if it ended 10 minutes earlier#i understand that ayan is a karan johar self insert but he's so stupid#i really liked that alizeh's ideal relationship was platonic#oozham is my favorite of these
