Ok I know some people who understand law follow me. Why do you have to pay $5,000-$30,000 to become a notary public in the state of Illinois. Does your employer cover it if you need the certification for your job. What if you are unemployed and just want to be a notary for fun and profit
UPD: I am going to pay $15 and become a notary in the state of Illinois. I just want Certifications. I am Cambridge certified to teach English as a foreign language. I am B2/C1 certified in Polish. I just like having paper that tells people I'm competent because I do Not project Competence. I project "guy who would buy dick pills at the gas station"

Are you ever asked to just have a paid conversation with a 16 year old namesake so she can prepare for her Cambridge Certificate B2 a little better and you're not even a native English speaker?
Just me?

Collocations with TAKE
Collocations with TAKE In this article we are going to learn the main Collocations with TAKE that are very useful for a B2 level of English.  As you probably know, B2 is an upper-intermediate level of English that will help you get certifications like: the B2 First Result exam from Cambridge University, or other international exams; for example, TOEIC, TOEFL or IELTS. Collocations with Take 1…

Starting again thoughts
In the few months since I last made an update (August), several things have happened.
I went to China in late September for 2 weeks with family, and spoke predominantly in Mandarin to extended family and some friends. I found that most of the time I could fumble my way to express everything I needed to, even if it required some effort on the part of who I was talking to
I signed up for Chinese classes and found them mostly quite boring, although they revealed the degree to which (even in October and November) my listening and speaking skills exceeded my reading and writing skills. I realised that I didn't like the Chinese classes, although I found them more stimulating and interesting than the German ones because progress felt more tangible, and in some ways, easier to maintain because of my phone calls with my parents.
I realised I'd rather be a documentary linguist (linguist who visits communities and documents their language for them, and produces archive materials) than be an interpreter. It not only means I would get to work with language when I do fieldwork, but it also means I would be taking an active part in preserving endangered languages, and by extension, different cultures and their ways of being. I'm aware it would be collaborative and potentially exhausting, but I will have a long time to decide if it's for me
I've made concrete plans for 2024. I want to do a CELTA (Cambridge English Language Teaching for Adults) to get that bread and butter, and to have a fallback. This would be sometime in the first half of the year. Then in the second half, I'm going to do a graduate certificate in linguistics. I'd work in English language teaching for an indeterminate amount of time, and then do a masters in language documentation if I still felt the calling.
So where does Chinese fit into this? (Or German, for that matter?). Well, I'd like to do language documentation work in Taiwan, particularly for Aboriginal Formosan languages. And to be honest, this isn't an academic interest at this point, it's because I'd like to live in Taiwan for a while (and work on my Mandarin). I like the idea of a place that's similar to yet totally distinct to a world that I've gone back to time and time again to visit family (Mainland China). I'm aware this might be a bit of a dual goal, though.
To be totally honest, I'm not sure where I'll end up in 5 years' time, whether I'll be in Australia, Taiwan, China, or Germany or even Portugal. Although I am fairly sure now that teaching English, rather than interpreting between Mandarin and English, will be my bread and butter. I would like to visit both Taiwan and Europe before making bigger plans, though. This will probably be not until next year (2025).
All the while, I'd like to express more mature opinions in Chinese to my parents, and to relatives. That feels like the immediate goal. And it would still be cool to write articles or short stories in Chinese too, if that ever becomes possible for me. It would also be incredibly awesome to read short stories and eventually novels in Chinese - there is a book at the library that has unabridged contemporary Chinese short stories with an English translation on the other side, which seems like a great goal for this year or even beyond.
As for broadening the scope of this tumblr to include German (and even Portuguese maybe), I'm hesitant because I feel that it might take away from the Chinese learning. But I will probably be taking Portugueses lessons next month for 10 weeks, just to see whether I like learning the language, and if I do, then I might pivot over to doing Portuguese + Chinese. As for German, I am toying around with the idea that being able to speak, read and write German at a C1 (or even B2) level might be helpful if I want to conduct research or study in a German-speaking country. I don't know. There are a lot of ideas floating around and I don't feel wholly convinced by any of them, not even for Chinese to be totally honest. I need to think of this as a reset and a reevaluation of my motivations.
I'll make another post in the next few days to set up plans for a routine (for studying language at work hehe). I have ample time at the moment because the job is going very slowly, and I anticipate that it'll be like this for at least 2 weeks. I'll have at least 2 hours per day to study (not including the lunch break) - more if I power through my tasks quickly and learn how to master listening + writing as a study method.

RANT INCOMING
WHY do i need to prove my college that i can speak english just to get my degree? And at a B1 level at that! ME! B1! Come on now, I haven't been learning this language for as long as i can remember and practicing it since the fourth grade to be asked to PROVE that I have a level that is WAAAY below what i have. I'm clearly a c2!! And the fricking cambridge one is allllll the way in europe and the oxford one only reaches B2!!! B!!!! TWO!!!! Unacceptable, and ridiculous, uttely ridiculous. I spoke with the foreing languages counselor/coordinator and he said that i don't need a certification, and i was like "yea, buddy, i know" but you know who needs me to have that piece of paper? my college that settles with a b1 certificate!
"I could give you the b1 test right now and you'd be done with it in 5 minutes, but what good is it going to be?" his words, not mine.
And like, WHYYYYYYYYYYY. It's going to take me AGES to find a place that gives a c2 test near me, or, you know, that isn't in another frigging continent!
Just to get my degree? Seriously?!

Normal Saturday
My saturday in two words: Study and videos
I studied for almost 7 hours and I watched video for the other 4 hours, I fell productive and useless at the same time. I watched a lot of snl videos (expecially Timothee Chalamet ones) and some Gorillaz music video. I also watched the Netflixes live on instagram and I used Drive and Listen that always relax me. Strange thougts came to my mind for all the day, I love autumn but summer is too far and I lose hope more frequently when i thought that I have to live like this for a lot of months. Ok I'm being too dramatic, there is a few things that I like: autumns parks, hot chocolate, cinnamon in everything, rainy days, fireplaces and warm places.
P.S. I didn't tell you why I decided to write this blog in english, it's because I want to do the B2 First Cambridge Certificate, everyone tell me it's difficult, but I can do it, I just have to improve my english doing things...like this.

📢 Proposal: Enhancing the Business English Program for Business and HR Students 📚
Dear Team Leader,
I hope this proposal fins you well. As we continuously strive for excellence in our educational programs, I'd like to present some insights and suggestions for the improvement of Business English courses 1,2 and 4, catering specifically to our Business and HR students.
Positive Point:
Relevance to Real-World Scenarios: The Business English program currently does an excellent job of integrating real-world scenarios and business contexts into the curriculum. This practical approach helps students connect theory to practice, making it easier to implement the knowledge within internships (year 3 and 4). We should definitely continue this strong point.
Points for Improvement:
Interactive Learning Tools: To further engage our students, we should incorporate more interactive learning tools, such as online webinars. This tool can make learning more enjoyable but also enhance practical language skills. We could explore partnerships with language learning platforms to provide access to these resources.
Diverse Assessment Methods: Instead of relying solely on traditional exams and Tumblr essays, we should diversify our assessment methods. For instance, introducing practical assignments like much business presentations, simulated HR interviews, or even case studies in English would better evaluate studies' real world abilities to apply language skills in their future careers.
Stimulating Students Investment:
To encourage students their could be a implementation of actual Cambridge English certificates, hereby motivating the students for a widely excepted degree. Instead of our current CHE marking lvl's for B2 and C1. It not only motivates students but also provides them with tangible proof of their language skills. enhancing their employability.
Thank you for considering these suggestions.
Warm regards,
X

What is the qualification for speaking English?
Tumblr media
Qualifications for Spoken English classes near me, in the context of language proficiency, typically refer to the level of competence and fluency a person has attained in the English language. There is no one-size-fits-all qualification for speaking English, as language proficiency can vary widely among individuals. However, several widely recognized language proficiency tests and frameworks are used to assess and certify a person's English speaking abilities. These qualifications can serve as benchmarks for English language proficiency:
Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
The CEFR is a widely accepted framework for assessing language proficiency, including English. It divides language proficiency into six levels: A1 (Beginner) to C2 (Proficient). Qualifications based on the CEFR may indicate a person's level of proficiency, such as "CEFR B2 in English."
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
TOEFL is a standardized test that assesses English language skills in reading, listening, speaking, and writing. TOEFL scores are used by universities, colleges, and employers to determine English proficiency. Qualifications may include TOEFL scores, such as "TOEFL iBT score of 90."
IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
IELTS is another widely recognized English language proficiency test used for academic and immigration purposes. IELTS scores are reported on a scale from 0 to 9, with bands indicating proficiency levels. Qualifications may include IELTS scores, such as "IELTS Band 7."
Cambridge English Qualifications
Cambridge English offers a range of qualifications and tests, including the Cambridge English: First (FCE), Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE), and Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE). These qualifications assess different levels of English proficiency.
ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Certificates
Some institutions and language schools offer ESOL certificates to demonstrate English language skills. These certificates may indicate the level of proficiency attained, such as "ESOL Entry 3."

Is the Duolingo English Test a good substitute for IELTS?
Introduction
IELTS is one of the most popular English tests in the world and it is also accepted by most universities as a requirement for admission. Duolingo English Test is a new online assessment that promises to offer an alternative to IELTS without having to go to a testing center. So, is this test a good substitute for IELTS? Let us find out.
Tumblr media
What is the Duolingo English Test?
The Duolingo English Test is a test of English proficiency. It's a free, online test that can be taken on Duolingo.com. The test is available in many different languages and it's designed to help you improve your English skills by measuring them against those of native speakers from all over the world.
What is IELTS?
The IELTS test is a standardized exam that measures your English proficiency. It's used by universities and employers to assess your ability to use English in an academic or professional context.
The IELTS certificate is recognized by more than 9,000 organizations in over 140 countries worldwide. The following are examples of organizations that accept the IELTS scores:
Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP)
British Council
Canadian Immigration Services - CIC
UK Visas & Immigration
IELTS vs Duolingo
The Duolingo English Test is a good substitute for IELTS if you are looking to study English, but don't have the time or money to take the full test. The two tests have some similarities and differences.
The biggest difference between the two tests is that there are fewer questions on the Duolingo English Test than on its more expensive counterpart: only 25 questions compared with 40 on IELTS. It also takes less time for students to complete their exams--about 30 minutes for Duolingo versus 50 minutes for IELTS (or 60 minutes if writing). In terms of scoring systems, however, they're quite similar: both use bands ranging from 0-6 points per question so that results can be easily compared across different languages (e.g., French vs Spanish vs German).
Duolingo vs IELTS Which is Better?
Duolingo is a good alternative to IELTS because it is free and easy to use. The Duolingo test is also an official IELTS alternative, so if you are looking for a free online English test, then this might be what you need.
There are many other websites that offer similar services as Duolingo but they may not be as reliable or accurate in their results.
IELTS vs Duolingo Which is Easy?
If you're looking for a free online English test, Duolingo is a good choice. Gtprep. in offers various exercises and practice tests to help you improve your English skills and get expert coaching for Duolingo Test. It's especially useful for beginners who want to learn basic vocabulary and grammar rules before taking IELTS or TOEFL exams. However, if you already have some experience with learning languages and want to take the more advanced test like Cambridge Advanced Certificate in English (CAE) or Business Communication Standard Level B2 Test (BCS), then it's better not to use Duolingo because it questions are too simple compared with other tests.
Duolingo English Test is an IELTS Alternative
The Duolingo English Test is an IELTS alternative.
The test is easy to understand and can be taken in just 15 minutes. It's a good substitute for the IELTS exam because it tests your listening, reading, and writing skills in English. If you're looking for an easier way to prove your proficiency in English, then the Duolingo English Test might be right for you!
[Read More: How to Plan For a Stress-Free IELTS Preparation?]
How to convert Duolingo Score to an IELTS score?
The Duolingo English Test score is converted to IELTS scores based on the test taker's performance. The conversion is done by comparing the test taker's performance to the average score of other test takers.
The conversion is based on two factors: how well you did on each section of the exam, and your overall score.
Is the Duolingo test a good substitute for IELTS?
The Duolingo test is an IELTS alternative. It's easy to take and you can do it for free, so it's a great option if you don't have money to pay for the official exam.
The test consists of 26 questions that cover reading, writing, and listening skills. Each question has 4 options with 1 correct answer out of 4 possible answers (A-D). You need 60% or more points on each section (listening, reading, or writing) to pass the exam and score high on IELTS successfully.
If you want to convert your score from Duolingo into IELTS scores, there are several tools available online that will help calculate this conversion automatically based on their data sets collected over time:
Conclusion
In conclusion, the Duolingo English Test is a good substitute for IELTS. It is cheaper, faster and easier to obtain than the original test. You can prepare yourself for it with a few hours of study per week on average.
