Hi, hopefully I have my memory straight. I’m writing an intro to college piece about both good internet friends and bad internet friends. I feel like a while back someone sent you a pizza on here? Was the a internet friend? I want to write about some of the good ones more than the bad

That's so great!! Hopefully I can be of some help. My friend that sent me the pizza is @b0ys-cry-t00 ❤️ He and I actually met through Tumblr about...8? 9 years ago? I was roughly 17. We grew extremely close, and he's actually one of the most amazing people I've ever met in my life. Once, when I was 20, he actually sent me $300 so I could make my rent; otherwise, my roommate would have kicked me out, and I was already at a really low point in my life. He's sent me gifts, both big and small, and has never asked for anything at all in return. He also donates food and water to shelters, and helps recovering addicts gets off the street and helps them find jobs. He's really just a pure soul. Even after all this time, we still talk at least once or twice a week. He's always there for me, and my husband adores him, too!! We're even in each other's phones as emergency contacts 😂 I can definitely say that most of the people I hold dearest to my heart, I've met through the internet. I hope you're able to find enough positive stories to show that for some people, it helps us find true friends that we'd otherwise never meet. ❤️ Good luck, sugarplum, and have a great week!!

What the fuck is with these people’s fascination with you and your friend? Am I just new here that I don’t get the appeal?

No, you're right, there is no objective appeal. This has been going on since Bear and I first became friends in 2010, and I still have no idea why it's a thing at all. Bear is an amazing person and dear friend— But other than singing his praises in the occasional post (a thing I do with a lot of friends), it's not like we make a big show about our friendship. Why anyone else even cares is beyond me. At this point, @b0ys-cry-t00 and I just laugh about it.

I'm sad and angry and hurt. I should be used to this by now, and usually I can brush it off, but that person trying to trick @b0ys-cry-t00 into thinking they were me? It just really messes me up.

Uhhh, the best thing this site has ever done for me is that it introduced me to @b0ys-cry-t00, and then @shift-shaping, @tel-abelas-mofo, @silent-of-spirit, @wrenbee, @galadrieljones, @thevikingwoman, @the-emerald-halla, @fadedforyou, @bonsquiggle, @hansaera, @elfsplaining, and bunch of other people, as well as allowing me to follow some personal heroes (like @destinyapostasy, for example).

The worst thing is that, when I was younger, it allowed people (more specifically, one person I know of for certain) to take photos I had posted of myself and create blogs that used my face to catfish and emotionally manipulate other people under a false name. To this day I get strangers contacting me, telling me stories about how they thought the person they had been speaking to for years was actually me. Also, it briefly allowed people to emotionally and psychologically manipulate me during a particularly low point in my life.
