WHATS EUROVISION

A song contest that some European countries (and Australia for some reason) take part in! Every country submits an entry, then the contest begins. Atm it's the semi-finals that air before the big final that most people tune in for airs on Saturday evening! It's basically a big gay event with campy, unusual acts, some ballads and some generic pop entries, but overall it's a 10/10 experience to get drunk to and watch.

This year, Iceland's anti-capitalist, BDSM industrial band have my vote. I love them. My all-time favourite was probably Ukraine 2007. I also adore Finland 2006 and Austria 2014. You should definitely tune in, it's highly entertaining! 😂🏳️‍🌈🇪🇺

Tumpeng time

y’all see these majestic golden towers surrounded by colourful deliciousness? these are of course, ✧･ﾟ: *✧･ﾟ:* Tumpeng! *:･ﾟ✧*:･ﾟ✧

With its signature yellow rice cone in the middle and various Indonesian vegetable and meat dishes surrounding it, Tumpeng is a classic for communal gatherings and feasts, most commonly in Java, Bali, and Madura! A traditional Javanese tumpeng’s side dishes would have a set, balanced list of dishes, but nowadays, a host can put anything they’d like. They are also eaten on other celebrations in the modern day, such as birthdays. Kinda like an Indonesian birthday cake.

Traditionally, the tumpeng is a symbol of gratitude. The top of the tumpeng would be cut off and given to the most important person in the slametan/syukuran ceremony. They may be the leader, the oldest person, or the most beloved one. Then, everyone else enjoys the tumpeng together.

The signature cone, “mountain” shape refers to old Hindu traditions where mountains were regarded as sacred and how the Hindu people honoured their Gods. When Islam is introduced to Indonesia, they adopted the tumpeng tradition as well in the context of their own faith, to honor their God who has authority over all of nature.

Some people say that the origin of the name “tumpeng” is an acronym derived from a Javanese phrase: ”yen metu kudu sing mempeng” which means something like “when you do something, give it your all.” or Wonderful Indonesia’s more elegant translation: “Make it count when you step out.”

my new fave fruit is officially keranji. they're so goth! the shell is so black and pretty while the flesh is so so so so soft. they also taste so fruity and bright!

Keranji (Dialium indum)

These black fruits are native to Java, Kalimantan, and Sumatra. They are often compared to the tamarind (asam jawa), but with a sweeter taste.

Perpustakaan Umum Daerah Provinsi DKI Jakarta is a public library located in Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jl. Cikini Raya no. 73, and opens every day from 9 AM to 5 PM.

It’s a very kid-friendly library and a great place to take your children to. It has 3 floors (not counting ground floor): The first floor has the general book selection as well as public computers with internet connection. The second floor has the children’s books selection, an entire playground (only for children of 5 years old and below), and a supply of puzzles and educational toys for the children to play with. It’s also all completely free!

The third floor contains the reference books, magazines, and newspapers. They are unable to be checked out, and can only be read in the library.
