Curious on your thoughts on how you would change ACOTAR if you could, like character paths and story beats and plots and what not, what would you change?
Ohhh interesting question! Thanks!
I would keep all the characters gray. Especially the male characters, such as Rhys, whom SJM tries to make a cinnamon roll. We fell in love with the dark and diabolical Rhys, and many others. Let's keep them that way. Nothing is being added to the story by making them 'good'.
MORE MAGIC. For a magical world, there is barely any magic and it's jarring at times.
If someone is 'the most' ANYTHING, I would need to show their The Mostness. You cant say that Rhys is the Most Powerful High Lord in history, and the guy doesn't know about a C-section and can't daemati the crap out of some people who deserve to be daematied. Also, stop asking for 'permission'. He didn't ask Lucien for permission. Why ask Bryce? Stuff like that is pretty illogical.
Not sideline Feyre. It's nice that she is painting and doing things with kids, but it's very 'First Lady' kind of a position when she is supposed to be an active ruler. Again, going back to the magic thing--make her consume and absorb huge amounts of info, history, traditions, customs and politics and actually understand the people that she is ruling over.
Resolve that ridiculous thing with Mor, Az and Cassian. Enough already.
Go back to the sisters and rework their origins. Nesta was 'angry' and Elain was 'lazy' isn't enough. Show what they've done when Feyre was hunting. Make them robust, multi-dimensional characters. Show their struggles. Show different paths of how they chose to deal with poverty and social fall.
Make the sisters --aka all 3 sisters--work with each other. It's nice to have friends. It's nice to have great friends. Nevertheless, they have each other and I need to see more from them. Less 'big gestures' and more genuine love and care.
Only Emerie reaches the top of Ramiel and wins the BR.
By now, we need to understand way more about the next villain, why he is so scary and what the stakes are for everyone.
Rework the Nessian relationship. Make it more substantial, emotional and supportive. Make Cassian more multi-dimensional. Show his struggles in regards to his relationship with Nesta and with Rhys and the difficulties of balancing love and duty, history and desire.
Set up Elain in HOFAS. Make something of her Seer abilities. Have her warn that something is coming from a different world. Make her a part of the whole story.
The pregnancy plot was ridiculous. Scrap the whole thing.
Execute Madja for high treason.
Give everyone freaking NAMES: LoA, mom and pop Archeron, nameless Vanserra brothers, Rhys's parents. Anyone who plays an actual role should be named.
Finally, going back to magic: make it consistent and sensical. What is High Fae? What is lower Fae? What differentiates them? Why can Lucien winnow a bit, the incest twins can't winnow at all? What powers do they all have? How do they manifest? What is Truth? What is 'fire'? Is all magic naturally given? Do they need to learn any magic? What is 'snapping' of the bond like? If you are a High Fae are you automatically born with certain powers and certain magic? How do you acquire it? Is there cardinal magic? How does healing work? Who can do it? Why?
Keep track of how you age people and don't be all over the place with teens and 75 year olds and 500 year olds and 900 year old all acting the same way. It doesn't make sense.
Take the readers to different Courts and make them interesting. Like why does Day have a THOUSAND Libraries and Dawn has literally only one palace and nothing else?
How do you keep your capital city a secret for 5,000 years? When there is actual trade and ports and all that with other parts of Prythian?
Why did Amarantha want to model UTM on the Night Court?
Please deal with the Illyrians already.
I can go on, but I think this is a good start.

Is Getting Certified in Microsoft Azure Worth It?
In todayâs technology-driven world, the demand for cloud computing expertise continues to grow. Microsoft Azure has emerged as one of the leading cloud platforms, providing various services to businesses worldwide. For IT professionals, the question often arises: Is getting certified in Microsoft Azure worth the time, effort, and cost? Letâs break down the benefits, career opportunities, and long-term advantages to help you decide.
1. Rising Demand for Cloud Skills
One of the key reasons to pursue a Microsoft Azure certification is the growing demand for cloud computing expertise. According to industry reports, the global cloud market is expected to grow exponentially in the coming years, with companies increasingly adopting cloud-based solutions. Azure, alongside Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud, leads this shift.
Companies are seeking certified professionals to design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructures. Whether youâre working in system administration, development, or DevOps, an Azure certification signals to employers that you possess the skills needed to help their businesses migrate to and thrive in the cloud.
2. Diverse Career Opportunities
Microsoft offers a variety of certifications at different levels, including fundamental, associate, and expert tracks, depending on your experience and career goals. Hereâs a look at some popular certifications and how they can benefit your career:
- AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals â A great entry point for anyone new to cloud technology. This certification demonstrates a basic understanding of cloud concepts, Azure services, and security.
- AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator â For those managing Azure environments, this certification covers virtual networking, storage, and security, helping you stand out in roles like cloud administrator or systems engineer.
- AZ-400: Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer â Focused on continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), this certification is ideal for professionals involved in software development and IT operations, providing an edge in the DevOps field.
The Azure certification path allows you to align your learning with your career aspirations, whether youâre interested in cloud administration, development, data analysis, or architecture.
3. High Earning Potential
Azure-certified professionals are often well-compensated due to the specialized skills they bring to organizations. According to research, cloud professionals with Microsoft Azure certifications earn competitive salaries, often surpassing those without certifications. The salary range for certified Azure administrators, developers, and architects can reach into six figures, depending on location, experience, and the complexity of the role.
For example, a certified Azure Solutions Architect typically earns a higher-than-average salary due to the advanced skills required for the role. Additionally, professionals who hold multiple certifications or expert-level credentials (such as Azure DevOps Engineer or Azure Security Engineer) are positioned to earn even more, as they are able to handle complex, high-level tasks.
4. Comprehensive Learning and Skill Development
One of the most valuable aspects of Microsoft Azure certifications is the structured learning path they offer. Each certification covers a specific set of skills and knowledge areas, from cloud basics to complex architectures. This ensures that candidates are not only studying for exams but are also building practical, real-world skills that can be applied on the job.
For instance, preparing for the AZ-104 (Azure Administrator) certification involves learning how to deploy virtual machines, manage Azure identities, and implement storage solutions. Similarly, studying for the Azure DevOps Engineer certification helps you master automation, version control, and CI/CD pipelinesâskills that are highly sought after in modern development environments.
By pursuing a certification, you are ensuring that your knowledge is up-to-date with the latest Azure features and services, and that youâre prepared to solve the cloud-related challenges businesses face today.
 5. Recognition and Credibility in the Industry
Microsoft Azure certifications are globally recognized and respected. Whether you're applying for a new job or seeking a promotion within your organization, having an Azure certification adds credibility to your resume and sets you apart from other candidates.
Employers value Microsoft certifications because they are a proven benchmark of skill and knowledge. Being certified demonstrates your commitment to continuous learning and professional development, which can be a decisive factor in hiring and promotion decisions. Moreover, Microsoft Azure certifications are tied to rigorous exam processes, making them highly trusted in the industry.
6. Cost vs. Return on Investment (ROI)
While Azure certifications come with costs, including exam fees, training materials, and the time required to prepare, the potential return on investment is significant. By obtaining a certification, you position yourself for higher-paying roles, more career opportunities, and greater job security.
Additionally, many companies and employers are willing to invest in their employees by covering certification costs. If youâre currently working in IT, consider approaching your employer to discuss the potential benefits of Azure certification for both your personal growth and the company's success. This may open the door to financial support for training and exams.
7. Future-Proofing Your Career
The cloud is not just a trend; itâs the future of IT. As more businesses move to cloud environments, the need for professionals with cloud skills will only increase. Obtaining an Azure certification helps future-proof your career by ensuring that youâre equipped with the skills needed to thrive in a cloud-first world.
Azure certifications also keep you current with emerging technologies. For example, Microsoft regularly updates its exam content to reflect changes in cloud services, ensuring that certified professionals stay at the cutting edge of technology.
Conclusion: Is Getting Certified in Microsoft Azure Worth It?
In short, yesâgetting certified in Microsoft Azure is worth it. The benefits, including improved career opportunities, higher earning potential, and the chance to develop in-demand skills, far outweigh the costs. As the cloud continues to dominate the IT landscape, an Azure certification can help you stand out in a competitive job market and future-proof your career.
Whether youâre new to cloud computing or a seasoned professional looking to enhance your skills, Microsoft Azure certifications offer a valuable way to validate your expertise and grow your career.

The groundwork of all technology work, whether it's in software engineering, marketing, product management or on-call operations, is understanding the fundamentals. Getting a solid foundation in which to build a solid career upon requires some work to fully understand the basics. To understand the pervasiveness of the cloud in 2020 is overwhelming. From your Wal-Mart order for produce to the information on your favorite sports team, the cloud is part of providing the networking, storage and compute to power many parts of your daily life. Just to provide you with some of the financial implications globally of the cloud, this article in Feb 2020 shows the power of companies selecting cloud services:
Microsoftâs cloud services experienced the most significant growth, with revenue increasing 27%. Revenue in its business and productivity division, which includes LinkedIn, rose 17% to a total of $11.8 billion
The cloud, what is it?
Microsoft defines cloud computing as: the delivery of computing servicesâincluding servers, storage, databases, networking, software, analytics, and intelligenceâover the Internet (âthe cloudâ) to offer faster innovation, flexible resources, and economies of scale. You typically pay only for cloud services you use, helping you lower your operating costs, run your infrastructure more efficiently, and scale as your business needs change. The cloud comes with a number of major benefits that provide a leg up over traditional datacenter deployments. With a datacenter, you're relying on the operational overhead handle many of the big tasks that come along with reliably deploying services for your customers. I really like this definition of what I mean by overhead in this context:
Overhead (computing)
In computer science, overhead is any combination of excess or indirect computation time, memory, bandwidth, or other resources that are required to attain a particular goal. It is a special case of engineering overhead In the context of a datacenter, your overhead is the time and money spent on buying equipment, installtion, support, maintenance and security of your gear. You'll need to consider if you're going to rent a colocated space or building your own. Are you ensuring redunancy in your application? Does that mean you need a disaster recover location to handle failover? What about backups? Who ensure these are happening? Then there is compliance, are you beholden to GDPR, PCI, or any other external regulations? These are all things that Information Technology professionals have had to do to ensure their applications are always available. Seems like a ton of work, doesn't it? Well the reason people use the cloud many times is to offset this overhead to their vendor and spending more time on what their business actually does. If you're an e-commerce business, you want to spend your time improving your store, adding features and ensuring performance for your customers. The business is to sell people products, not to install computing infrastructure.
Top Benefits
Cloud computing is a big shift from the traditional way businesses think about IT resources. Here are seven common reasons organizations are turning to cloud computing services:
Cost - Rather than make a purchase up front for your datacenter gear, licenses and support - use a credit card and pay for what you need, when you need it.
Global Scale - Access to resources in datacenters across the planet. No installing, racking and stacking. Storage, compute and network resources whenever you need.
Performance - Use various types of CPUs, GPUs, enhanced networking and more to provide the best experience for your users.
Security - Remember all that compliance? That's done for you. Ensuring firewalls are configured by default, patching of Operating Systems and managing your secrets - all done in the cloud.
Speed - The ability to build, move fast and fail fast! If something doesn't work the way you want in your application, you can quickly spin up new resources. A Linux Virtual Machine is an example of a resource you can have available in just minutes.
Productivity - Focus on your business's needs - not the needs of a datacenter. Offset your IT tasks to managed services and reduce your overhead!
Reliability - The cloud comes with the knowledge, the tools and global datacenter availability to ensure that whatever you invent, it's invented with purpose. Reduce downtime, improve reliability and keep your app users happy!
Management over manual
Using the cloud means you have the ability to select managed service over those you need to maintain on your own. ****Managed services* is the practice of outsourcing the responsibility for maintaining, and anticipating need for, a range of processes and functions in order to improve operations and cut expenses.*** In the context of Microsoft Azure, there are so many managed services to select from. Let's say that you have a new CMS driven website that you are tasked with getting running. You could just set up a Linux VM, install a LAMP stack and then get Wordpress running, but you are assuming some risk here. By doing this without some managed services, you're reducing your ability to withstand many of the common problems with unmanaged servers. You may have MySQL, PHP and Apache all running on one single VM...what do you do when MySQL runs out of memory? What happens when your website is no longer available due to running into swap memory? More than likely you're going to spend some time on this once your pager goes off letting you know the site is offline. What if you could take away a lot of those headaches and still keep the CMS website online? Azure provides managed services for much of the common tasks you would associate with running a website like a Wordpress CMS. Azure provides a service to help you install, backup and maintain this service long term. By visiting the Azure Marketplace you'll be able to find this Wordpress app install. Rather than installing a MySQL server - we can select the Azure Database for MySQL managed service. Azure Database for MySQL provides fully managed, enterprise-ready community MySQL database as a service. You'll have backups, scalability and security you need for your database without having to configure it yourself. These are the tasks that can keep you up late or take a while to ensure you can automate. By using a managed service, you get all these feautres right out of the box.
What about my Word docs in the cloud?
Sure. there's a place for you. SaaS (software as a service) helps provide you with many of tasks like word processing, calendaring and email all in the cloud. No need to set up your own email server or a storage array with shares for your company. Select a SaaS like Microsoft 365, and much like our web service for our apps, we reduce overhead. Microsoft 365 is designed to help you achieve more with innovative Office apps, intelligent cloud services, and world-class security. SaaS solutions aren't just limited to productivity, you use them almost every day with tasks like signing documents, saving your files or even talking to a friend online.
Security first

The number of managed services Azure provides is tremendous, over 200 at the time of this blog. You have access to AI, IoT, DevOps tools, and so much more. You can get a view of the entire list of products by checking the Azure Directory of Cloud Services.
Sure there's tons of companies using the cloud... what about me?
Starting with the foundations to help you invent with purpose are there. By learning how to build applications, manage resources and more can help you get the most out of the cloud. Here are some great sources to begin using many of the things I discussed in this blog post:
Microsoft Learn
Master core concepts at your speed and on your schedule. Whether you've got 15 minutes or an hour, you can develop practical skills through interactive modules and paths. Learn has a number of learning paths to help you get your start. You can get the fundamentals down first and then move on to your certification showing your proficiency. Exam AZ-900: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals is great to show you know how to use the foundational products that make up the cloud and Azure.
Docs
Discover comprehensive documentation for consumers, developers, and IT administrators through tutorials and code examples. Docs on subjects like Visual Studio Code, Microsoft 365, Azure and even gaming! The docs website contains tons of information, reference guides and even quickstart how-to's that can help you understand how to use the services described. One of my favorite quickstarts is Create an Azure Cosmos account, database, container, and items from the Azure portal. It's a perfect first step into understanding the global NoSQL database service, Cosmos DB.
