Paramount Announces Official ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK Release Date
New Post has been published on https://nofspodcast.com/are-you-afraid-of-the-dark-release-date/
Paramount Announces Official ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK Release Date
As we previously reported, a film adaptation of Are you Afraid of the Dark is in pre-production over at Paramount. Until today, we’ve had very little word on the project, only that it was being developed.
But, looks like 90’s kids have more news to satiate their AYAOTD hunger; Deadline reports that the release date for the big screen adaptation of Nickelodeon’s, Are You Afraid of the Dark will be October 11th, 2019. Gary Dauberman, co-writer of IT and Annabelle: Creation, has been enlisted to write the script with Matt Kaplan is set to produce.
Are You Afraid of the Dark was originally a Canadian series that was picked up by Nickelodeon and aired on Saturday mornings between 1992 and 1996. The show chronicled the weekly meetings of The Midnight Society, a group of teenagers who would gather in the woods, around a campfire, and tell scary stories. The original series boasted cast members Ryan Gosling and Neve Campbell.
If you are unfamiliar with the show, you can check out Nightmare on Film Street Contributor Cameron’s Top 10 Scary stories from Are You Afraid of the Dark.
Dauberman told The Hollywood Reporter,
The show is about the shared experience of telling stories — especially scary ones. We’re going to celebrate that with this movie and honor the darker, scarier tone of the show, which was really groundbreaking for Nickelodeon at the time. I hope the Midnight Society approves.
Dauberman is also attached to the upcoming films, The Children from New Line, as producer and The Nun, as executive producer. This is in addition to writing the script for the upcoming, highly anticipated sequel to It. Stay tuned to Nightmare on Film Street as we keep a close watch over all things Are You Afraid of the Dark.

Are You Afraid Of The Dark? Movie Sets October 2019 Release
Credit: Nickelodeon
The first show that I would watch under cover of the blanket and through one was Are You Afraid of the Dark? It was something that started a fascination with scary stories. Even though I am an admitted wimp and can only watch them in bursts of courage followed by pausing in fear.
Needless to say, a major wave of nostalgia washed over me when I heard that Are You Afraid of the…
