you smiled widely when you noticed jeongin entered your hospital room with a huge box and a bouquet of flowers.

“hi honey,” he said softly, placing everything on the table by the window and rushing to your bed to hold your hand and place the gentlest kiss on your forehead. “how are you feeling today?” he added, looking at you fondly.

“i’m okay, just really tired,” you giggled, closing your eyes for a moment.

you’d gotten sick a few weeks before christmas. you were sure everything was okay but the doctors told you that you had to stay at the hospital for a while, which worried you. how were you supposed to spend christmas in the hospital?

“did the nurses give you medication?” he inquired and you nodded. “even that nasty pill that you always complain about?” you giggled, nodding again. you looked at him with a literal heart in your eyes - never in your life would you think you’d find someone as caring and attentive as jeongin. he was a definition of perfection in your dictionary.

“what’s in that box?” you pointed to the table, earning a grin from your fiancé.

“it’s your christmas gift, silly,” he answered and you turned youe head to the side. but it wasn't christmas yet, right? jeongin must’ve sensed your confusion, because he raised his eyebrows, letting out a little huff. “honey, it’s christmas eve today.” you pouted at his words. when did you get lost in the days of the week?

“i forgot to buy you a present,” you mumbled, your cheeks growing warmer. you felt like you failed him.

“don’t worry about it, you’re already my gift as you are,” he whispered, kissing your cheek. “merry christmas, honey.” you smiled, squeezing his hand. it wasn’t your perfect christmas, but with jeongin by your side your worries went away as you two softly sang christmas carols, holding each other as close as you could.
