what if Kenichi had a secret crush on Leo from the time he saw him but didn't know how to approach it cause he's in denial about being into both genders, which is why he said the odd fruity stuff to Leo in the tree scene
He is prob jealous that Usagi got the ninja and also using "HE'S A FILTHY NINJA, I HATE THEM AND I HATE HIM" excuse to not justify his feeling, he most likely did that with Usagi when they were younger and when he found out that Usagi had a crush on the girl (forgot her name) he was sort of heartbroken. BUT he didn't really know because he is IN F ING DENAIL and he don't know how to deal with emotions towards the male crush
Like really, imagine BOTH your crushes got together that's emotionally painful lol
Mikey's the one with the power overload *wink wink nudge, nudge*
and what if leo got mystic power a bit similar to Mikey in a way
wow this is LONG way longer than expected, and are we allowed to post fan theories and write different outcomes of what if cats ate dogs and dogs ate rats you know?
Okay so Kenichi just missing Usagi’s crush on him as a kid is actually hilarious.
I think he just wants whatever Usagi’s has. Usagi was interested in Mariko so Kenichi started pursuing her.
Yes he hates ninjas. Leo also embarrassed him. Then to catch Leo and Usagi together, Usagi once again had something he didn’t.
You can totally read this as Kenichi thinking leo is hot. (He defiantly was okay having Leo’s company for the whole festival.) I honestly find that to be a fun interpretation.
I will not reveal who has the power overload. Y’all will have to wait.
If you want to write fan theories or your own ‘what if.’ Or continuation. Go for it!!!!!
I would love to see that!!!!!
Just tag me so I can read it!!!!
I honestly would be so honored.

@thenerdywitchofthenorth @furiousjellifish
Oh hello, sorry life’s been wild.
Okay so let me build and reshape. I love what we got going on.
First off. Love the idea of legendary hero’s. Maybe each has to lead their own quest to earn that title, or maybe they earn it as a team.
BUT I feel like we are missing something for a while in this au. @thenerdywitchofthenorth brought up the idea a little bit. It’s the idea of the afterlife. Most mythologies have a concept of afterlife to them. Be it a the Greek with different levels of punishment/living arrangements but everyone goes to the same place. Or the Norse were there are different places depending on how you died.
I like Nerdy witch’s idea of story telling helping to keep their memories alive. This does tie beauty into Usagi’s arc and the way he changes Leo’s own godhood through his story telling.
Maybe they can visit passed loved ones on a special Holliday but only as long as their memory is alive. Usagi can see his friends again each year as long as their stories are remembered.
————————————————————————
Now idea 2
Usagi’s friends representing different stages in his life.
First I love it as it leans into this idea of myths always teaching a lesson. Usagi’s story is constantly teaching lessons.
To do this you need to really understand your themes. And you need to be specific in the order he gains them in.
What do you want Usagi’s character arc to be? We have him being cursed to lose his loved ones. We know the climax of this curse is him meeting Leo, falling in love and losing him. But what about the lead up to it?
Do you want Usagi to have friends before meeting Leo or after? It’s hard to say that these characters were lessons learned along the way and already have them there.
Here is my pitch and it can be ignored.
Katsuichi has to be first
Usagi had know of this curse his whole life. I haven’t put some of this into AWOSAN yet but I do have him losing his mom at a young age. That will work great here as well. He knows the people he gets close to are destined to die so he blames himself for all their misfortune.
You can also have people like Kenichi who blame Usagi growing up for any hardship that befalls their village.
So Usagi leaves when he’s pretty young. He wants to defy fate by protecting those he cares about. There are two ways to do that. 1) become strong enough to fight god and 2) don’t have any connections until you are
Maybe he picks Katsuichi to teach him because the man lives all alone and doesn’t want students. He doesn’t seem like the type to for attachments Usagi could learn that from him.
What he doesn’t expect is for Katsuichi, after learning about his curse, to treat him like his son. The man loves him so much and Usagi can’t wrap his head around it. To love Usagi is to welcome death and misfortune. He so scared to from that attachment back.
Maybe he tried to run again but Katsuichi follows and reassured him. Katsuichi is strong enough to protect himself and Usagi is deserving of love. He doesn’t get to decide what other people feel for him.
He is the first person in a long time Usagi allows himself to be attached to.
Lesson: he is worthy of love
From here on out Usagi has met these people before Leo but does not form a relationship with them until after
Gen is second
He meets Gen when his family is on a bounty hunt. Gen is blunt but kind in his own way. Usagi is stand off ish, while he might except that he is worth of love that doesn’t mean he wants to get close to people.
The get along but go their separate ways
The next time he meets Gen the boy is traveling all alone as he has lost his family and is on the quest for revenge. Usagi can sympathize with that as he has also lost loved ones and has dedicated himself to defying fate. Yet Gen is so angry and he is walking down a dark path. Maybe Usagi tries to help him see that but the two separate after and argument.
Then he meets Leo.
The two bump into Gen and help him. This will need to be fleshed out. But he joins their little group. Usagi’s on edge about it. Things have been going his way everytime Leo pops up but that doesn’t mean he wants people close to him. But he learns a lot from Gen
Maybe at one point while helping Gen, Usagi’s has to pull him back from his rage at the people who took his family realizing his own rage at fate for taking his love ones.
They are both rash and impulsive teenagers and Usagi recognizes that. The two eventually learn how to call each other out when they are acting out of anger or impulsiveness.
Lesson: don’t let anger guide you
Kitsune third
Again he meets her and her thief family before he mets Leo. I don’t think he likes her to much in the beginning. Maybe she robs him.
They run into each other here and there with Usagi always chasing after her and her family. But when he catches her he never harms her he just takes back what she stole and let’s her go.
After the Mets Leo and Gen starts traveling with him.
They run into Kitsune and her family, but her family leaves her behind to take the fall for their crimes. She scared and aware that the people of this town could really hurt her. When she sees Usagi she run to him to turn herself in. She know he won’t hurt her.
Usagi is baffled at the decision but when other people come to take her he doesn’t let them. He asks for the items back but she doesn’t have them, her family took them and left her behind.
Maybe it was a sacred artifact. Tied to a forgotten god of fame or to a new god of the harvest? (One of Leo’s family members)
Usagi can see why the village is upset. Leo himself his enraged by the news, he’s never seen Leo so personally affronted. So he tells Kitsune she has to help them get the artifact back.
Kitsune is terrified of her family and doesn’t want to go steal from them but Usagi reminds her that she trusted him to not let others harm her. On the inside he himself doesn’t know if he can keep that promise as he can’t even protect his loved ones.
On their adventure they both have to learn to trust one another and in the end Kitsune joins their team
Maybe Leo gets into some trouble and Usagi’s is terrified that he’s about to lose Leo but Kitsune gets Leo out of there. (Yes leo could save himself but this is about letting Kitsune prove she is trustworthy) maybe the two fight their way out proving both of their skills
Lesson: trust. Both in trusting someone else to act but also trusting them to protect themselves.
Chizu forth
I think Chizu he will met after Leo.
I am in the middle of my own Chizu arc right now. No matter how dear you have all become to me, you are not getting TWOFFF spoilers

with
raph
that would be so *chefs kiss*
Oh it would change so much.
I think Raph made it out better then Leo. Still has injuries and a cracked shell but no where near the damage Leo had.
This leads to Raph having to explain who they are and what happens while Leo is still unconscious. Raph is not cleaver enough to hide his powers. The people this he either and oni or a Kami and he has Leo under his protection. They are two different species after all.
Once Leo wakes up they ask him what happens and he gives the same story but he leaves out his powers. He doesn’t know that Raph already let the cat out of the bag.
Usagi still ends up hurt during training and spending time with them but Raph is just as excited about the possible way home as Leo.
I think Raph recovers first and starts trying to be helpful/earn his keep. Leo is already doing this by working in the infirmary. He gets a position as a guard but that means spending time away from Leo.
It’s at this time Usagi’s carries Leo outside to sit under the Sakura tree. (He has to carry Leo he’s missing a leg) it plays out mostly the same but right after Lord Mifune’s conversation with Leo Raph rolls up.
The biggest change would be the fight with the neko. My guess is by this point Leo and Raph had already had a heart to heart about Leo being babies and Raph’s stress as leader and Splinter’s comment. So when Leo says “hey I think this is where the attack is coming from.” Raph’s already ready to go. The two absolutely demolish the Neko clan.
Raph is nervous about Leo portaling on one leg but not nearly as freaked out as Usagi.
My main guess is Raph walks in right after leo and Usagi’s confession (let’s say he was helping clean up the mess) he’s got some mixed feelings. On one hand he likes Usagi. He’s helping them find away home. On the other that’s his little brother) it helps when Usagi and him go out the next day with the plan for a letter home and Usagi asks permission while also expressing his desire to go to New York with them. (He was going to ask permission earlier but the confession was a spur of the moment thing)
The big change would be the Kenichi part of the story. Cause Raph Ain’t letting any of that fly.
Yes there are a million little shifts that happen with Raph’s presence in the story
