We all have a story! Some we hold onto, some we prefer to let go of. They are only a part of who we are. They don't define us. The essence of who we are is our truth! What is your essence today?

“What makes us strongest is not the absence of adversity, but the presence of some of the most grievous hurts, disappointments, trials and testings in life. These are the stepping stones that build bridges that cross into your destiny.” -Yvonne Wilson #awolyoga #recoveryyoga #selflove #spiritualgrowth #yogileeanne

Where does Yoga fit in with Recovery?
The Dictionary Defines Yoga as the following...
YOGA
[yoh-guh]
noun, ( sometimes initial capital letter)
1.a school of Hindu philosophy advocating and prescribing a course of physical and mental disciplines for attaining liberation from the material world.
2.any of the methods or disciplines prescribed, especially a series of postures and breathing exercises practiced to achieve control of the body and mind, tranquility, etc.
3.union of the self with the Supreme Being or ultimate principle.
I make no claim that yoga is the answer to recovery, i only say it is a, potential, model to support the addict on their journey of recovery as it helps all people. Recovery is a spiritual journey. AA and NA are a "fellowship of the Spirit".
I am not a yogi who claims enlightenment. I don't carry a perfect downward dog. I don't and can't meditate everyday in a fashion that I'd like. My kids irritate me. My job isn't fulfilling. I cry, swear and even eat fried foods (gasp!) But I do integrate Yoga and my Recovery into my every day... whether i am on the mat or simply talking to someone about my personal spiritual growth and development, talking to another alcoholic, or reading pages 84-88 of the Big Book...
This is my life and I choose to make it A Way Of Love. I love Recovery and I love Yoga. Take from it what you may... i will continue to walk my walk and talk my talk... if it is something you think could help you on your own journey... contact me... say hi! I love to meet like-minded people and, especially, love to show people what works for me and what might work for you.
Yours in Recovery and Hope,
Leeanne
