On Sleep Deprivation

In which I use a specific segment of Egoraptor's Awesomeman to illustrate a point.

After several days of regular, uninterrupted sleep: I entirely remember watching this particular Awesome Series entry on its Newgrounds release date, and remember thinking it warranted a smile. A chuckle, basically. Wily is incompetent, Mega Man can't take more of his shit, and Arin can't finish his skit, so an OC Chef Man-esque sort of guy tosses in Albinoblacksheep levels of lewd to finish the viewer off with absurd humour. It's an Internet classic on many levels, but I wouldn't exactly quote it out of nowhere with the boys, y'know?

After missing a few hours here and there: I, um, I guess I see the value in the absurd delivery - I mean, I laughed at it a few times - but outside of those particular friends you keep around for the ganja, deep-fried bad movies and Cheeto dust, it's not really something I'd quote. Not openly, at least.

After missing two entire nights of sleep after a terrible bout of G.I. distress: It's - it's the punchline, y'know? It's - penis; just delivered out of absolutely nowhere. You think you're getting something dumb to close out the fact that Hanson ran out of frames on his SWF file and realized he needed to wrap it up quickly, and then things get ratcheted up from dumb to absurd. It's like Hanson's slow-mo scream, at the end of Lightsaber Fightsaber 2 - he just goes for it, spittle and triple chins and all, and I just-"

Insert teary eyes, a spastic grin, shaking shoulders and eye bags the size of Montana.

After nearly three full nights of insomnia: Insert neurasthenic cackles here, and maniacal whispers. "FIVE DOZEN EGGS! I MEAN - WHAT?!"

At this stage, you could blow a raspberry at me that I'd call you a comedy genius and probably laugh so hard I'll probably look like I'm trying to strangle myself with my diaphragm.

Yes, I'm still fairly tired, but I managed to score some decent chamomile tea and went to bed ridiculously early, last night, to pay off every lost minute of sleep. At least I'm coherent again; imagine trying to wrangle up pitches for your boss' floundering Continued Service department when all you want to write probably consists of the twelve or so words that most frequently end up on public bathroom stalls.

To use another analogy, my wakeful self thinks Wes Anderson is the absolute peak of modern directors, my slightly diminished self thinks that honor belongs to Paul W. A. Anderson, and my dead-tired self thinks Pam Anderson's Barb Wire is watchable.
