Can you explain why people hate rwby now? I remember it was so loved and it seems like in the last year it just keeps getting shit on.

Main reasons:

1.) Taking a LOT of primary focus and writing priority from the actual protagonists (team RWBY) ESPECIALLY Ruby. She seems to lack a lot of development and depth despite being, perhaps, the most titular character of the entire series.

2.) Jaune reaching bland anime male protagonist status, despite being a minor character from the very beginning. Jaune takes up a lot of screen time, despite other characters in the show desperately needing writing development.

3.) Poorly done world building

4.) Poorly researched/animated fight scenes. I personally take no issue with V4′s action animation (I’m not watching it tho) but the only thing that bothers me is how Ruby is “choreographed” to fight this season. I’m not even going to say that this is (only) because of the most talented Animators departing from the series, but from what I can tell for Volume 4, a lot of Ruby’s action seems to be poorly animated, relying on animating her semblance (magical rose petal spiral speed cape!) rather than Ruby’s actual physical movement and skill with her scythe. I’ve mentioned how “easy” this is to fix before (considering the skills and resources that they CURRENTLY have for Volume 4) but meh if anyone ever hears what I mean.

5.) Honestly, VERY biased development for almost all of the male characters, and practically contradictory writing for said male characters (like Jaune and Sun, whose personalities and skills presently seem to be completely opposite of what we saw of their first introductions and first fight scenes)

6.) Bad pacing. A lot of events in the series could have been more developed over a long time span; or been shorter, but are unbearably long.

basically, despite it being like 3-ish years since V1, the writing has stagnated, despite the visual development of the show immensely improving and it gets kind of annoying and depressing after a while
