Alright fools, as it's almost Mother's Day, for those who celebrate, here's a PSA from a guy I know who's a florist.
Do not use 1 800 Flowers, AvasFlowers, bloomnet, Teleflora, FTD, any of these. ANY FLORAL ORDERING WEBSITE. Even something small like Ruth's Roses.
They are all scams. They charge you $20 for using their site, but they are just a front. They send it to a local florist and then give them around 30% less than what you paid for the arrangement. The website pockets delivery fees, site fees, your cookies and personal information, and a good chunk of what you think you're paying for flowers.
Please, just call a local florist, or one local to the area you're trying to get the arrangement delivered to. It may seem more expensive but that is just because you're actually paying for what you want, not substituted flowers and scammer fees.
Please. Please stop using these websites. They scam everyone -- including the florists -- every chance they get. They are just html fronts. Call a florist.
My florist friend had funeral sprays ordered where someone paid $210 and they only got $130 to work with at their shop.

Just an FYI if you’re ever wanting to order flower delivery: FTD, 1800flowers and Avasflowers overcharge and only a small percentage of the amount they charge you actually goes to the florist they send your arrangement to almost garunteeing you won’t get what you ordered. Just find the local florist and order from them directly.

Popular Meanings And Symbolism For Safflowers
This flower is often thought to represent attractiveness to others. This is due to its sticky webbing and sharp spines on the stems. It was used in folklore to attract and "catch" good luck and love.
It was commonly used as a gift to attract a new lover or marriage. The yellow blooms were also associated with happiness and good luck. This made carthamus flowers an important part of folklore meanings.
https://flowers.avasflowers.net/avasflowers-wiki/carthamus
Basically, a thistle that is meant to look attractive and ensnare others, while giving off the impression that it’s meant to attract a lover or potential life partner. Also, it’s used in red dyes, which reminds me of a line from opening scene to Kamen Rider Gaim.
"Pluck the fruit of heaven. That the world will be dyed in your colors."
So I was thinking Rhea and the Nabateans are the characters most associated with Flowers in Three Houses. Rhea wears them in her hair, her boss theme is called a Funeral of Flowers, they are also incorporated into Sothis' design and Flayn has her monastery dialogue talking about how she feels like a Flower trapped in the soil knowing that if she was to leave the safety of Garreg Mach she would risk wilting. Rhea's flower symbolic also plays into the lighting symbolism of the game, Rhea is at her strongest when there is sunlight just like how a Flower requires sunlight to live and grow.
There's one thing that breaks from this though. Crimson Flower. The route name for Edelgard's route, except I stopped and thought for a moment similar to how The Red Canyon is called Red due to the massacre of the Nabateans that took place there what if the Titular Crimson Flower isn't actually Edelgard but instead it's Rhea, she's the Flower you kill at the end of that route.
And before anyone comes in with "her blood is green" yes I'm aware, but The Red Canyon is called the Red Canyon not the Green Canyon. Red and it's various shades have always been the descriptive used when trying to imply something is bloody.
Just something I was thinking about, might be something, might not be. I just found it odd in a game that managed to keep its symbolism pretty tight and exact that this one glaring oddity exists.

If you want your Valentine's Day flowers to be delivered four days late, completely rotten and smelling awful you should order from Ava's Flowers! Also, their customer service is AWFUL. They hung up on my grandma (who had ordered these as a surprise for me) and charged her $5 for a 99¢ ribbon (that was broken and not even tied to anything when it arrived). Also, the blocked me on Twitter once I outed them for being scammy. Spread the word. www.avasflowers.com
