Southern California is still on fire and it's getting worse

Due to the support I've received from my previous post, I wanted to provide more updates on the fires happening around Southern California

On 01/08/2024, LA Mayor Karen Bass returned to California after she attending the inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama in Ghana. Many Angelenos were already infuriated with the mayor after discussions about how she defunded the LA Fire Department circulated online and her not being in the state only caused their anger to grow.

Sky news reporter David Blevins confronted Mayor Bass as she was leaving the plane. As Blevins questioned the mayor, including asking her if "Do you think the people deserve an apology for being away while the fires were burning?", Mayor Karen Bass stayed frozen and silent.

At the same time, you had newly appointed District Attorney Nathan Hochman on local news outlets, condemning looters and swearing to punish any that police find. Despite the fact that police admitted that since the fires started on 01/07/2024, only two looters have been arrested. Nevertheless, DA Hochman continues to practically froth at the mouth at the thought at arresting looters, even as he stands in front of his sister's burnt down home.

Shifting to the actual issue at hand, the fires continue to burn with new ones exploding across the region. As of writing, the Palisades fire has grown from over 15,000 to over 17,000 acres. The Altadena fire has stayed at over 10,000 acres while the Hurst fire grew to over 800 acres and the Lidia fire ballooned to over 300 acres.

Residents who have evacuated from the Altadena fire (known officially as the Eaton fire) and are now in Fire Evacuated Areas in Pasadena are now facing an Unsafe Water Warning as the water and power system has been impacted by debris. They're told to only use bottled water as not even boiling water makes it safe. If you're in Southern California, please consider donating bottled water along with pillows, sleeping cots/mats/pads/and diapers to the Pasadena Red Cross located at 128 S Marengo Ave. If you would like to donate, please consider donating to the Pasadena Humane Society.

A new fire called the Sunset fire ballooned to over 50 acres in 20 minutes. As you may have guessed from the name, this fire had occurred on Sunset Boulevard, although it officially started on the Hollywood Hills. Although most of the fires affected residential areas, this was one of the first fires to hit a major metropolitan area. If the fire had spread further, it not only would have affected hundreds of people and businesses, but it would have destroyed major LA landmarks including the Hollywood Bowl and the Chinese theater.

The only good news that can be said about the situation is that the Santa Ana winds has lessened significantly. Although there is still Red Flag warnings across Socal, helicopters are now able to target the fire with water and fire retardant drops. As a result, the Sunset fire appears to still be burning, but contained, and evacuation orders have been lifted as of writing.

As this country continues to divide us with fascist rhetoric and misinformation, we need love and community more than ever.

Attack of the Replicons

The Biopharmaceutical Complex's self-amplifying mRNA assault has already begun.

The Biopharmaceutical Complex is preparing for the large-scale deployment of replicon (self-amplifying) mRNA injections. There are currently at least 33 candidatesin development.

These products behave like a synthetic virus. The replicon mRNA is designed to encode not only the target antigen but also viral replicase, enabling the mRNA to replicate itself within the target cells. This replication machinery allows for an unknown period of toxic antigen production. Concerningly, none of the clinical trials have addressed the major concern of product shedding.

The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) are the primary funders behind this technology to combat ‘Disease X’. This is an extremely high risk ‘vaccine’ platform that should be avoided at all costs. Cellular installation of synthetic replicons requires decades of intense safety testing.

The very first replicon injection for human use received emergency use authorization (EUA) from The Office of the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) back in June 2022: Gennova Biopharmaceuticals’ GEMCOVAC-19. This was followed by reckless EUA approval in June 2023 for GEMCOVAC-OM, a replicon booster shot that targets the Omicron strain.

In November 2023, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) fully approved CSL and Arcturus Therapeutics' replicon shot: KOSTAIVE ARCT-154. Dismissing all concerns, Japan’s MHLW approved the updated booster shot in September 2024 to target the JN.1 lineage of Omicron subvariants.

In the clinical trials for ARCT-154, 5 deaths occurred among the injected in study phase 3b. Injected participants experienced a 90% adverse event rate (74.5% systemic - 15.2% required medical attention) after the first dose in study phases 1, 2, and 3a combined. Many of the authors are full time employees of Arcturus Therapeutics, meaning their conclusions are likely biased.

Meanwhile, the USDA quietly approved an experimental self-amplifying RNA injection for dogs developed by Merck in June 2024: Nobivac NXT Canine Flu H3N2. It appears that Merck is attempting to camouflage the fact that this product is self-amplifying. The primary product description only indicates that it uses “revolutionary RNA particle technology.” However, the novel platform works by RNA particles targeting dendritic cells, where they self-replicate and result in sustained antigen production.

The possibility of product shedding from dogs to humans or other animals was never tested. This injection is currently widely available for online purchase and canine administration. While the Biopharmaceutical Complex struggles to get self-amplifying mRNA injections approved for humans, they seem to have no problem targeting our pets.

Deployment of this experimental platform has continued in September 2024 to target cats: Nobivac NXT FeLV. Nowhere in the product brochure does it mention the RNA self-amplification mechanism of action. They hope that unsuspecting vets won't think twice about accepting the 'new and improved' product. The so-called 'safety' data for this product is as follows:

“Demonstrated safety under field conditions" from "Data on file. Merck Animal Health."

In other words, no public safety data is provided. It's become abundantly clear that the pharmaceutical industry and captured regulatory agencies have zero regard for the massive safety concerns of undefined synthetic mRNA replication resulting in uncontrolled toxic antigen production. These experimental injections must not receive further regulatory approval for humans or animals if we are to prevent another public health disaster. All self-amplifying mRNA injections currently available for humans and animals should be immediately withdrawn until comprehensive, long-term safety studies are conducted.

A homeless man freed without bail after randomly breaking a woman’s nose went on to sucker-punch a 9-year-old girl in the face in Grand Central Station, MTA officials said.

Jean Carlos Zarzuela, 30, was busted after he allegedly socked the youngster as she stood next to her stunned mom in the station’s dining concourse at about 11:50 a.m. Saturday, MTA police said. Medics took the girl to NYU Langone’s Tisch Hospital for treatment.

Zarzuela was caught on video inside the transit hub, and the MTA released his name and photos to the media shortly after the Saturday attack.

MTA cops knew Zarzuela’s last known address was a homeless shelter on E. 125th St, so they headed to the E. 125th St. subway station on Lexington Ave. Saturday evening and asked a pair of NYPD transit cops for help, according to law enforcement sources.

Sure enough, the NYPD cops recognized his photo and said they had seen him about 10 minutes earlier. NYPD transit cops found Zarzuela and took him to the MTA police officers, who made the arrest at about 10:20 p.m.

Zarzuela is also accused of punching a 56-year-old woman in Grand Central Station on April 4. MTA cops initially charged him with felony assault, but prosecutors in Manhattan dropped that down to a misdemeanor.

Sources familiar with the case said the decision came after police and prosecutors did not receive a supporting deposition from the victim in the case, which is required by law within five days if there’s bail set.

Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Pamela Goldsmith ordered him held on $2,500 cash bail or $10,000 bond. Records show he had a bench warrant out for assault cases in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

On Tuesday, he appeared before Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Laurie Peterson, according to the court system’s online docket. She released him without bail just four days before the attack on the young girl.

“It doesn’t make any sense that this guy — who recently was released after being charged with randomly punching someone else and breaking that victim’s nose — should be back in a public space where he can attack others, especially children,” MTA Communications Director Tim Minton said.

“The people responsible for the criminal justice system need to learn from this episode before more innocent people become victims.”

Zarzuela was awaiting arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court on Sunday evening. His lawyer declined to comment.

The attack comes less than four months after another recidivist criminal was accused of stabbing two teen sisters visiting New York from Paraguay at Grand Central on Christmas morning.

Steve Hutcherson, 36, who also uses the name Esteban Esono-Asue, allegedly stabbed a 16-year-old girl in the back and her 14-year-old sister in the thigh in an unprovoked attack. He’s also accused of slashing another Rikers Island inmate as he was held without bail in the attack.

In an interview with the Daily News, Hutcherson’s ex-girlfriend said his mental health began deteriorating in June 2021, when he told her he suffered from paranoia, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

I saw a post of a SS of an alleged letter from PHW’s legal team to Youtube/Youtube content creators.

I won’t reblog or repost it because I try to always refrain from spreading misinformation if I can help it.

Besides the fact it’s a SS and I’m always weary of those, here are a few more questions people should ask themselves before they reblog/post.

Is there a date? Is it the full letter for context? Is there a signature? Who is alleging it’s a letter from PHW’s representation and is there a way to authenticate?

For this specific letter it states they represent PHW, do I see the name of the firm or the person representing PHW? Can I look this person or firm up to see if they have an actual practice? If they do, do all the logos and other indicators of their practice match up to what is shown in the letter?

Even if it’s information I want to be true, we should still be vigilant to look these things over with a critical eye. Perhaps for things I want to be true, I should be even more critical to overcome my own bias.

Both sides can lie for “clout” or for a number of reasons that may not make any sense to me. That why is we should always question what is being put forth.

Here are things that make me doubt its validity.

The first sentence doesn’t make sense, not the correct use of “hereforeto,” nor is the information really relevant. lol The whole thing is awkwardly worded and formatted, it doesn't sound or look professional IMO.

It’s too generically addressed. This might be a difference in practice, but in order to make a notice worth anything to a court, we have to do due diligence that the recipient received the letter. If it’s just to “Youtube,” then it’s likely to get lost in the mail as the mailroom won’t know who to send it to within their organization. There has to be someone in charge of the TOS department they can address it to. I would never try to go before a judge and say I sent it to “Youtube” and then left it at that.

Sometimes specific people can be hard to find, and a quick Google has this for court orders: YouTube, Inc., Attn Legal Support, 901 Cherry Ave., Second Floor, San Bruno, CA 94066. However, a legal firm should have access to legal tools like Westlaw and Lexis that would have public records for things like this. I can’t look this up as I’d get fired because I don’t have a legitimate business reason to look it up. lol

It also looks like in order to submit a complaint to Youtube, it’s via an online form for Brazil. I would probably do that form and a formal letter to cover all my bases.

My personal practice is to send letters via certified mail. I always try to have as much proof that the letter was sent, and that there is proof it was accepted by someone that works there.

I don’t see citations to the specific violations to Youtube TOS. If I’m paying an attorney to write something and send it out, then I want them to be as specific as possible to make it legitimate. It’s possible they are sending the letter as a bluff and are counting on the recipients being too ignorant of the TOS or law, as well as unable to pay for a lawyer to look it over and too scared to not comply. Still, these types of letters can be ignored, citing to actual violations is the best way to have a solid case.

Again, the online form also requires specificity in what the violations are. It’s worthless to simply say “the whole video is defamation.”

All of this has me hesitant to accept the letter as legitimate.

A journey through Sega's marketing machine with the power of the cassette

I know, I know, a bit of a wild stretch to start this blog off without some proper introduction. Hi. I'm archonedd / Nobusuke, and I'm an avid (at the time of publication) 23 year old Sega (and Sonic) nut.

After mercilessly mocking cassettes as some old fad throughout the elementary and high school years as the world started gravitating more and more towards online streaming, I picked up a cassette player in early 2017 no doubt due to the hype surrounding a cassette that Star-Lord was seen playing on repeat on one of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. Along with said cassette player, came a Type 1 cassette tape to play. It changed my music experience in ways I'd never imagined, and I even tried substituting my CD-based boombox with one of these and needless to say the equipment left a lot to be desired.

It turns out that modern cassette players just don't have the quality mechanisms that legacy cassette decks used to have, and the number of new cassette-enabled devices seem to be dwindling globally as time goes on. Not to mention, most people's recollections of cassettes seems to border towards "listening to a crappy stream from the car's radio" to "only listening to a film's vision of what cassettes or any other vintage audio format used to sound like".

It sure took a YouTube channel like Techmoan and Retro Core AV as well as several others where my outlook on cassettes (and several vintage audio formats) began to change a little as I learned more about the different types of cassettes, and how cassettes can sound a lot like or even close to a properly mastered CD if given the right budget and expectations. So imagine my surprise when I heard almost 5 years later that Sega even started using distributing cassettes dubbed "Sega Forever Volume 1". My initial reaction was - "Wait a minute. What??"

What is this tape about?

Basically the idea of this was to serve as a promotional item sent out to various YouTubers and Sega-centric content creators prior to the launch of the "SEGA Forever" service on mobile devices. The tracks on these are basically taken from popular arcade and Mega Drive/Genesis titles, some of which are still remembered to this day.

The most remembered ones include the arcade BGM to Space Harrier and Outrun, as well as those from Mega Drive standout classics like Phantasy Star 2, Shining Force 2, and even Vectorman (a Blue Sky Software effort) gets a special shoutout though only Terraport from that game gets represented. Overall, there are 12 songs spread into two sides of six.

The strange thing is some of the Sega arcade titles even got console ports on non-Sega systems usually through third parties like Sunsoft and NEC Avenue.

For the lucky 512 or so content creators lucky enough to receive this retro blast, the package even included a biro pen just in case your cassette player somehow "ate the tape" and you're on the task to spool the tape back in. You, know, like the old days where cassette enjoyers did it. I personally do not have such a strong nostalgic connection, but I just found it interesting to mention.

What are the technical specifications?

There are four types of cassettes sold throughout the market during the continuing lifespan of these audio wonders.

Type 1 refers to a general cassette you are most likely to buy today. This is known as a "Ferric" tape.

Type 2 known as "Chrome" is a step up from Type 1. While it is a general step up from Type 1 tapes, in the end, quality Type I cassettes have higher midrange MOL than most Type II tapes, slow and gentle MOL roll-off at low frequencies, but less treble headroom than Type II.

Type 3 "Ferrichrome" doesn't really exist anymore as far as I can tell.

Type 4 is the supreme stuff. These are called "Metal" tapes. To play such a high-class tape, your deck or player would have to be rated for metal tape playback. Something that today's modern tapes aren't quite capable of playing now, or at least I don't think so.

It seems more likely that Sega Forever Volume 1 cassette is a Type 1 metal tape with no noise reduction to speak of. These days, Dolby noise reduction may be no more, but substitutes such as DDi Codec will be able to alleviate that.

Sega Forever....

Let's talk about Sega Forever. Sega Forever was a then-new initiative to get its best retro games available for a mobile audience that's still going today. Very similar to what they are already doing with Sega Mega Drive Classics on multiplatform experiences via PC, PS4 and XBOX. This cassette was to coincide with the launch of the Sega Forever platform on smartphone on 21 June 2017, with the initial lineup being Altered Beast/Jyuohki, Comix Zone, Chameleon Kid, Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and Phantasy Star II.

Unfortunately it had a somewhat rocky launch. With the exception of the rebooted Sega Forever Sonic the Hedgehog mobile conversion handled by Stealth (the same guy that demoed what Sonic could look like on the GBA compared to the half-baked effort Sega of America pumped out in 2006), almost the entirety of the selection ran poorly despite modern hardware enhancements. It seemed to be a middleware problem as Sega reportedly failed to reach an agreement with the people behind the Retroarch project, instead settling for a Unity-based emulation solution.

Since then, Sega have upped the quality of the emulation for the smartphones of our time.
