Side stories: sleeping beauty

(Tw: stalker behavior from a crazed fan of Iris.)

Today Nazo and Seelkadoom are heading out on a date for the evening, leaving Iris by herself for the evening.

While she is used to being by herself at this point, she’s also gotten a little too used to their presence constantly being around. Not hearing them do anything around here tends to make this place feel empty, maybe even depressing for Iris, as sirens can actually be quite the social creatures!

So, she uses her phone to connect up to speakers all around the house to play some nice ambience on a low volume. It brings her a sense of familiarity and peace. While also playing some music all at the same time!

She uses this time to do chores, as they all have a list of chores they do. However, since they’re both gone, Iris gets the opportunity to try and do some of the harder chores around the house. By the end of the list, the poor woman is exhausted and wants to lie down and rest.

She knows she doesn’t have to do all this, but she doesn’t really know how to show her appreciation outside of either this or her physical affections, which she doesn’t want to use on a couple.

So, she changes into the sweatshirt that seelkadoom let her have on her cycle a few days ago, and lies down on the sofa for a while. Since the area was warm, it helped her fall asleep much easier than expected. The soft ambience didn’t help either, as she drifted off into a peaceful slumber. Not noticing the figure of some kind of bat peeking through the window.

As seelkadoom and Nazo walk into the house. They both seem to notice that everything seems to be more… organized? I mean, it’s not that much different than it was when they left, but there was a sense of cleanliness to the area.

The two take off their jackets and Nazo goes to hang his up before seelkadoom calls out to Iris.

Seelk: “Hey Iris, we’re back!”

Silence, no response except for the faint sounds of ambience echoing throughout the halls. This is a little concerning, as Iris is usually up and about at this time. Nazo finishes locking up the door and turns towards the hall.

Nazo: “Odd, she usually responds to us…”

Seelkadoom takes off his shoes and jacket before they both go take a look around. It’s clear no Windows are broken, and it’s also clear that she’s been a busy lady all evening!

Nazo looks at the crossed off chores list on the dining room table, and is pleasantly surprised to see all of their chores completed for not just today, but for the week. Seelkadoom looks over his shoulder and seems to have a soft smile on his face.

Seelk: “it seems she found how to entertain herself..!”

Nazo sighs and looks… guilty… she didn’t have to do all that while they were gone…

Nazo: “maybe I should start thinking about hiring maids and butlers for this place. I don’t mind us doing the housework, but I don’t want Iris to risk hurting herself while doing our chores when we’re gone.”

Seelkadoom wraps his arms around his waist and nuzzles into his neck as he looks at the list. I mean, she did everything. From cleaning the sinks, tossing out the trash, doing dishes and some laundry, even tried to clean up some of the vents. She obviously couldn’t get to the ones up above, but still..

Seelk: “Well, that’s up to you my dearest, but she certainly deserves something for all the hard work she did!”

Seelkadoom and Nazo look at each other and nod before giving each other a gentle kiss before seelkadoom lets go and they check the living room for Iris.

Nazo: “Iris-“

He stops dead in his tracks as he sees the sleeping siren on the sofa, asleep in Seelkadoom’s sweatshirt. Her legs were curled together, her tail wrapping around one of them. It’s honestly a precious sight to see for the both of them. This leads to a small gasp from seelkadoom, a hand covering his mouth.

Seelk: “aawh, look at her!”

Nazo: “well would you look at that… out like a light.”

Seelk: “I don’t blame her, she worked so hard!”

Nazo carefully walks over and looks down at the sleeping siren. It’s strange, why does he find her in seelk’s sweatshirt to be… cute? He tries pushing the thoughts out of his head before picking her up carefully. After all, the last thing he wants is for her to get hurt for sleeping on the improper bedding. He looks over to seelkadoom as he walks over to nazo and Iris, taking a long look at her before looking up at him.

Seelk: “Are you thinking what I’m thinking, sweetheart?”

Nazo glances over to seelkadoom in slight confusion, then looks down at Iris, then back at him.

Nazo: “.. Depends, what are you thinking about?”

Seelk: “that she looks cute all exhausted and asleep in my sweatshirt. Reminds me of the times you passed out in my sweatshirts when we first got together.”

He smirks and chuckles as he looks at Nazo, who is blushing a soft purple as he thinks back to when they were younger (20-21), when Nazo was still constantly under GUN’s research. While they cared for him perfectly well, he was always exhausted due to them extracting so much of his bodily fluids and healing abilities for research at the end of the week. So when seelk first found him in one of his sweatshirts, curled up and sleeping like a baby, it pretty much solidified their relationship status.

Nazo looks back at seelkadoom, then down to Iris. It’s ironic, how things seem to repeat themselves when you least expect it. It didn’t help that she was wearing a similar one to what Nazo wore back then when they first got together.

Nazo: “She does remind me of that time…”

Nazo’s face flushes to a deep purple as he admits it, but he also can’t help but find the moment adorable. Seelkadoom wraps his arms around Nazo’s waist and nuzzles into his shoulder as he looks at him. Then looks down at Iris.

Seelk: “So cute.. C’mon, we should get her to bed.”

Nazo nods as the two carefully make their way up to Iris’ room, that is until seelk puts his hand on the doorknob, and stops in his tracks.

Nazo: “what’s wrong my gem?”

Seelk: “I’m not sure, but I’m getting a gut feeling something is going to go wrong..”

Seelk peeks into her new room. It was this elegant sage green color with hints of purple, a silver colored canopy covered her bed, and through the window, he can barely see something. However, he can see just enough to know it’s a figure of someone. He quickly shuts the door and locks it, his breathing becoming more heavy as some sweat forms on his brow. Then turns to Nazo.

Seelk: “you locked all the doors and windows from the inside, right?”

Nazo: “yes, I locked it back up after we got in. Why?”

Seelk then walks up to nazo and leaves a little kiss on his cheek.

Seelk: “I’m going to head back out and check something. I just hope I’m seeing things due to my sleep schedule… Just take her to our room, she’ll be safer there.”

The alarm bells start ringing in Nazo’s head. Seelkadoom usually doesn’t act so.. paranoid. Something is very wrong here. What could it be though? Nazo has some of the best security software money can buy, and from what he understands, the security system didn’t go down while they were gone. Could it be a stalker? Seelkadoom has delt with many of performer’s crazy fans before, but he didn’t think someone would be crazy enough to find their home and try to break in while they were gone with Iris all alone…right…?

Nazo nods before seelkadoom teleports out of the house. Leading Nazo alone with Iris. He looks down at her, noticing her moving around in his arms as she tries to scoot closer to him in an attempt to get some more warmth.

He smiles softly and then carries her closer to his body as he walks down the hall, carefully opening the bedroom door to his and seelkadoom’s room. There were ambient lights in the corners of the room that are in the shape of chaos emeralds and other crystals, and their room was dark in color, perfect for insulation of both heat and AC, and the small hum of a fan blowing and a dehumidifier fill the room as he sets her down on the soft sheets. He stares at her in awe for a moment. Her scales were a metallic blue, shining under the soft glow of the moon through the crack of the dark curtains.

His heart begins to speed up, his face darkening to a soft purple. He can’t believe it, it’s only been about a month since she moved in, and he’s already starting to catch feelings. He knows this is wrong, and he knows that this could hurt him and seelk’s relationship…

Maybe he should talk to seelk about this, maybe he’ll have an answer? I mean, he is aware seelka is open to polyamory.. but he doesn’t want to just bring it up so suddenly, it might make the whole situation worse. Then again, it’s either talking to him about it, or hide his feelings and make things worse.

Regardless, he grabs a spare blanket from the closet in their room and places it over her carefully. Then turns away from Iris as he starts undressing and getting into PJS and a nightly routine. Peeking over Iris on occasion to make sure she’s okay.

Once done, he gets settled into bed, before he sees a figure go flying. He shoots up from the bed in surprise, then chuckles at what he just saw, before seelkadoom teleports into their room.

Seelk: “I was right, it was one of Iris’ fans trying to get in. Damn creeps.”

Seelkadoom sighs and slumps into Nazo’s arms with a grunt as Nazo chuckles and checks him for injuries. Healing him with his touches.

Nazo: “You did amazing my gem. Now go get ready for bed, I’ll be here waiting.”

Nazo kisses his forehead before hearing a hum of satisfaction from seelkadoom. He gets up slowly and looks down at Iris with a soft smile before going into the bathroom to get changed. Nazo smiles softly and lies back down, noticing Iris has turned on her side. She seems so peaceful, so.. pretty.

Nazo mentally slaps himself for thinking that. She’s just someone in need of help, and happens to be friends with seelkadoom. Besides, it’s not like she shows much interest in them anyways.

Seelkadoom walks back out with a tank top and a pair of PJ pants on as he snuggles into bed, wrapping his arms around both nazo and Iris. A hum of satisfaction leaves his lips before looking up at Nazo.

Seelk: “It’s a little warmer tonight, isn’t it sweetie?”

Nazo blushes and nods before carefully wrapping his arms around seelkadoom and Iris, his face blushing deeper as he looks at his beloved.

Nazo: “yes.. it is..”

Seelkadoom smirks as he notices the deeper blush on his face, seeing him so flustered is so precious!

Seelk: “lemme guess, you’re starting to feel some things for our pretty siren friend?”

Nazo’s heart feels like it dropped into his stomach before he nods softly. A hint of shame lacing his voice as he admits it.

Nazo: “I’m not sure how it happened, it just did. I didn’t really know how to discuss this with you, as we’ve been together for almost a year now. The last thing I want is-“

Seelk: “Nazo, baby.”

Seelkadoom uses his free hand to caress nazo’s cheek, leading a small gasp from Nazo.

Seelk: “It’s okay sweetheart, your feelings for Iris don’t change our relationship as of now. If anything, it just proves how important she is to us. I mean, I find her to be cute too.”

Nazo is pleasantly surprised by this development. He didn’t really notice the signs of seelkadoom gaining attraction towards Iris. Then again, there’s been little hints. How he treats her is similar to how he treats him. Just without the sweet nicknames and physical affections that seelkadoom usually gives him.

Nazo: “So, we both find her attractive..?”

Seelk: “yep, seems like it! I mean, just look at her. She’s sweet as an angel, an amazing singer, good at charming, has amazing style all around, hard working and determined, good morals, and all with gorgeous looks to match! To be honest, I don’t think either of us have found someone this sweet..”

Seelkadoom yawns after he finishes rambling on about Iris’ qualities, and Nazo can’t help but agree. He looks down at Iris in their arms, sleeping the exhaustion away. He then looks up at seelkadoom with a shy expression.

Nazo: “so now what? Do you think we should try and persue her, or should we wait?”

Seelkadoom wraps his arm around nazo and cuddles closer to him, giving him a gentle kiss to the forehead before nuzzling him.

Seelk: “I say we try and figure things out tomorrow. Besides, we are going to have some guests over for dinner, it’ll be a good opportunity for Iris to make some friends..!”

Nazo hums with a smile on his face as he looks at seelkadoom. Leaning in to give him one last kiss to the lips for the night.

Nazo: “Alright my gem... Sweet dreams.”

Seelk: “Goodnight my dearest, I love you..”

And with that, they all fell off into dreamland. Holding each other for warmth and comfort as the autumn winds begin to stir in the north of solleanna. The seasons are changing, and with that, comes the start of something new and beautiful.

✨beach headcannons since it’s still summer!✨

- Nazo usually only goes there because seelk and the others go. You can usually see him lounging on a beach chair, sketching out some cute designs for swimwear to commission later down the line. He might also be chatting it up with rouge when she tries to tan! (Girl has got stories for DAYS.) However, he can be encouraged to swim in the water or play a few rounds of beach volleyball!

- seelkadoom on the other hand, he’s doing all the physical shit on the beach. Beach volleyball, swimming in the ocean, building sandcastles with some of the others. All of it. The guy never runs out of energy at the beach, and is honestly the biggest influence while there to do fun activities!

- Iris is mostly on babysitting duty with most of the kids, as vanilla and most of the other parents trust her and nazo that they won’t end up injured when under their care. If they do, then Nazo steps in and heals them! Outside of that, she’s probably splashing around in the water, dancing her heart out to music, and swimming underwater to find cute seashells to give to seelkadoom for his sand castles!

- Sonic and crew are much like seelkadoom, energetic and doing most of the beach activities! Sonic and tails are usually on a team together for beach volleyball, while seelkadoom and shadow just team up and kick ass every time!

- Iris has a bunch of swimsuits that have been either gifted or bought herself. However, she does have a personal favorite swimsuit. It’s a genuine vintage 1950’s two piece swimsuit that is in perfect condition. Seelkadoom gifted it to her from a thrift shop he was looking at for some more pieces to add to his wardrobe, as many people were dropping their alternative pieces at that thrift. It’s baby blue in color, and the simple yet sleek design made it all the more better for her to wear at the beach!

- scourge and the destructix are usually seen at beach bars getting wasted in the summer. Nazo has to scold them constantly because of it, and boy is he reaching his limits with them.

- Amy and aeon can be seen taking photos of themselves and the others (well, except nazo.) Along with taking videos on their phones for social media. Amy is more videos, aeon is more photos!

- cream and the other kids are usually building sandcastles with Iris and seelkadoom, as Iris is on babysitting duty when they’re around, and when vanilla isn’t nearby!

- vector and the chaotix are usually the one bringing the drinks and snacks, but Nazo usually gives them the funds to do so.

- you better believe that rouge would have Amy, aeon, Iris, and all the older girls have a swimsuit fashion show. Although it’s mainly for fun, a few… icky guys try to watch for their own entertainment… so they usually have someone on standby in case they try to get handsy. It’s usually Nazo or shadow, but sometimes silver and knuckles does it!

- Sonic has little kiddie floaters due to seelkadoom and surge trying to drag Sonic into the ocean. They have a special technique to do it. Wait for him to get close to the ocean, position themselves, wait a minute or so, and then? SPLASH. They run up behind him, grab his arms, and yank him into the water! It usually gets a laugh out of a lot of them, but it does concern a few of them. Amy, shadow, and Iris specifically. (Idea from hunnieglazed!)

- later that evening, everyone brings up their favorite stories and adventures. The couples (or throuples!) all sit next to their partners, cuddling up against the bonfire before they set off a few fireworks!

- Iris would be the first to get exhausted and end up falling asleep in seelkadoom’s lap, leading to nazo and the group getting a few cute photos of them, and the three went home to get Iris to bed!

- cream, Amy, and vanilla would leave next. So on so forth. Until Sonic, shadow, tails, and Sonic remain.

-Sonic and shadow would be the ones to put out the fire, but then they couldn’t help but notice something. The skies have gotten darker and cloudier, with lightning in the distance. They think it’s a storm, so they quickly start getting home. However, little do they know of the dangers of the deep that they may have to face later down the line…

Hello! I hope you're doing well!

I came with another question: What would Sonic characters do to rest after a long day in your AU? 👀

Haii, I’m doing well for the most bit, currently having some free time, so here we gooooo-

- Iris usually does a massive self care night to help relax. Either that or she just cuddles into bed with one of the boys’ shirts and just sleeps off the stress, this is usually before they actually get together, and nazo has begun to notice this habit of hers. While it’s cute, it does drain his closet a little faster than expected. He does have a plan to make both parties happy though-

- Nazo is actually quite similar. Except he'd probably sleep a lot more than Iris. Either that he’d go flying around for a while. Since the earth’s air doesn’t affect him much, he’s able to enjoy the cold air. That’s only at night though. During the daytime? He’d probably shut himself in the design room and make something to keep the long day off his mind.

- For Seelkadoom, he’d find the closest friend he could and just cling onto them. He really only does this with Iris when he’s at work with her, or he clings onto nazo in their room if he gets home from work. He sometimes does this with aeon or mephiles, but that’s more out of trust than anything.

- mephiles tends to read the stories that are left for him at his altar, or look through all the art pieces he was gifted. While iblis is more of the artist blesser, mephiles will eventually find some talented artists himself. Those artists are usually the ones who are more known in solleanna, and most are gifted at a young age. Otherwise he’d probably play some piano, violin, or cello. Maybe even all three if he decides to be fancy! 👀

- iblis probably goes and takes a walk around solleanna in her mobian form, and then heads to the music corner to listen to some jazz. Either that she goes to the library to see what her subjects have recently written about!

- aeon would do her makeup while on FaceTime with Amy. Mostly ranting and spilling online gossip she got from her mutuals, but also just catching up with her and planning events! Either that or she trains in her gym to blow off steam.

- scylla’s days are usually long, but she tends to fill that time with her harp or with the books in the library. After all, Circe has fallen ill as of late, so they don’t hang out very often anymore.

- circe tends to spend her free time in her boudoir, wearing pretty robes and brushing out her quills and fur as she sings all the stress away. Her life is inspired by one of the many goddesses of water in different mythologies, and tends to make her daily routine a sort of offering to them, as a thank you for inspiring her so much. Although, she hasn’t been able to do so since she started getting sick. It’s strange, it appears she just suddenly fell ill.. I wonder what happened?

- calypso is usually seen in the gardens relaxing after a long day, or in the astrologer’s tower, where she studies the stars and prophecies. After all, she’s the first high-priestess since their great grandmother, she has a reputation to uphold!

- knuckles and rouge tend to go the same place as aeon does for training. Rouge might or might not get photos and videos of aeon for amy.. 👀

- tails usually just sleeps it off, but sometimes you can catch him looking at cosmo’s plant as he nods off to sleep.

- sonic and shadow tend to either train or cuddle together after a long day usually. Sometimes it’s even both!

I’m sorry if it took so long to answer, it’s been a long day! ^^||

So uh, funny idea for the highschool AU.

Iris is pretty popular, and has gotten her fair share of times being asked for her number. But very rarely is she just given a number out of the blue. Or at least that’s what she thought, until she saw something that looked like two people making out. It looks albeit strange, but she just thought they were not the best artist.

That is until she decides to show the others, who happened to be hanging around shadow, Sonic, and the rest for senior sunset.

Insert over half of the villain alts trying not to laugh their asses off, while Nazo and seelkadoom are just like:

“Should we tell her?”

“No, no- let her figure it out-“

In the end, aeon is the one to spill the beans and boy is Iris flustered. However, the others try to cheer her up by kind of making fun of it. She eventually shows her mom, and she says:

“Must be a self portrait. I feel sorry for them.”

Aaannndd cue Iris and the others laughing their asses off!

And if you’re wondering, she was given it by one of the cocky junior “class clowns”… yeah, let’s just say seelka found out who it was real quick and the two gave him a warning about unwanted images like that, because the next time it happens, he and nazo won’t be so nice about it. 0-0

A fun fact about Iris:

Her kisses have an aphrodisiac effect on them. While they’re not strong enough to make someone fall in love instantly, if given enough, they’ll eventually fall for her completely. Which is why she refrains from kisses to anyone who isn’t a hedgesiren. She doesn’t want random men popping up on Nazo and seelkadoom’s doorstep or sneaking through their windows to see her 0-0||

Side stories: To be cared for…

(Ello, this talks about menstrual cycles, mentions of blood, and medical conditions such as PCOS and POTS. I am no doctor, please consider doing your research on these diseases, as they vary widely on symptoms depending on who is suffering from these said conditions! )

Iris slowly awoke in the morning. It was still somewhat dark as she began to wake herself up. That is, until she felt a pain in her lower abdomen.

Normally sirens don’t usually get menstrual cycles, or at least not in the way most mobians do when they’re on land. However, it could be argued that Iris lived on the overworld long enough to start having cycles like most mobians.

Iris stands up from her bed carefully and begins to walk towards the bathroom to try and find some pads or something. That is she hears the front door open, seelkadoom returned from work. She smiles softly and walks through the house to meet him, before seeing a little bit of blood on his suit. Iris seems concerned about him when she sees the blood on his shirt… however, seelkadoom seems to notice the blood on the lower half of her nightgown before looking up at her in concern.

Seelk: “are you..?”

Iris seems to look away in slight shame as a blush of embarrassment appears on her face, before nodding softly.

Iris: “yeah, I think I just started… I’m sorry-“

Seelk: “don’t apologize. It’s natural, even if most don’t consider it to be.”

Seelk takes off his waistcoat and tosses it over to the couch and carefully picks her up to carry her to the bathroom.

Iris: “huh?”

Iris looks up at seelkadoom, clearly confused as to what is happening. That is until she gets set down on the sink and he goes to start a warm bath. He glances over to her and smiles a little bit before he walks over to her.

Seelk: “Just stay put, I’ll go get you a change of clothes.”

Iris nods as she watches him leave the bathroom. It feels.. odd, usually she only gets pads and a change of clothes when she’s having her cycles, or at least when she was younger.

Once he comes back, it looks like he got one of his sweatshirts and a pair of black sweatpants. Along with the usual pair of her undies and a soft towel. He then sets her down off the sink and kneels down to get some of the pads they have here for aeon and the others.

Seelk: “there we go. Go ahead and undress and get into the tub, I’ll come back in a few minutes to pick up the soaked clothes.”

Seelk smiles softly at her before Iris nods and he leaves, closing the door behind him. As she’s undressing, she can’t help but wonder why he’s being so nice to her. I mean, she’s just on her cycle, it’s not anything really important, especially with her PCOS and POTS making it difficult to even function some days. She carefully sets the blood soaked night-clothes down and does her best to clean herself up before getting into the bathtub and relax some.

Eventually, seelk knocks on the door again.

Seelk: “I’m back, are you ready?”

Iris nods and smiles with a small blush on her face, before wincing slightly due to a cramp.

Iris: “y-yeah hon, I’m in the tub!”

Seelkadoom peeks in and notices how exhausted and weak she looks in the tub. He couldn’t help but feel bad as he sets down some pain meds and some dark chocolate nearby before he sets up a towel pillow for her head.

Seelk: “head up?”

Iris raises her head slightly and the towel pillow is put behind her and she sighs softly in relief as she can feel the softness of the pillow. He chuckles slightly before getting her some pain meds and some water for her to take the meds with.

Once she was all set and ready, Iris just seems to melt like wax. She looks up at seelkadoom, who appears to be getting off his eye makeup from last night. He’s changed his bloody shirt to a simple tank top, allowing her to see his physique better.

He appears to be quite the physical guy, as he’s pretty toned and a little muscular, but not so much where it’s grotesque. She can’t help but stare with a small blush on her face. However, one question still remains in her brain.

Why is he being so sweet and caring towards her? They’re not together from what she’s aware of, and it appears he’s quite happy with Nazo as his partner as long as she’s been here (about a week now!). So why is he being like this? However, it appears she has been staring a little bit too much, as she hears him chuckle, snapping her out of her train of thought as she looks up at him. He then turns himself to her and leans his hand on the clean counters.

Seelk: “like what you see here, Iris?”

Iris blushes heavily and looks away, her scales glowing brightly as he lets out a small laugh. Damn it, he really does like to tease, doesn’t he?

She sighs and looks away shyly. Then looks back at him.

Iris: “But why, why are you doing all of this for me?”

Seelkadoom looks a little confused before he gets the idea.

Seelk: “why I’m helping you soothe your symptoms for your cycle?”

She nods slightly

Seelk: “simple, you were in pain and covered in blood. It’s only right to get you cleaned up and into something easier to rest in.”

Iris looks up at him with a bit of confusion in her eyes.

Seelk: “let me guess, you never really got cared for like this?”

Iris nods as she watches him crouch next to her and caresses her head.

Seelk: “poor thing, can’t imagine how you’re feeling currently..”

Iris: “…thanks hon, I appreciate it…”

Iris leans back into the pillow and sighs softly, slowly starting to relax more than usual. A little smirk forms on seelkadoom’s face before he pulls away and begins to head to his and Nazo’s room to check on him.

While he’s gone, Iris slowly gets ready to wash her quills and ears. Soon, she hears their conversation a little bit on the other side of the wall.

Nazo: “you think she has similar illnesses like I do..?”

Seelk: “I mean, it makes sense. She does show some physical symptoms. Plus, no normal woman bleeds that much blood on their first day… then again, I can very well be wrong, the body is an odd specimen.”

Nazo puts his arms around him, leaning into his neck and nuzzling into it sleepily.

Nazo: “we’ll ask her about it when she’s done, and if she has similar suspicions, we’ll get her set up with a gynecologist.. okay my gem?”

Seelkadoom nods and wraps his arms around nazo. The conversation now sounds more muffled and unlistenable now. However, from what she could gather, seelkadoom is now getting the signs of Iris being neglected by her family members for quite a while now, which means they’re slowly catching on… she just hopes they never find out the full truth.

She then goes back to getting herself cleaned up before she feels sudden exhaustion. She decides to close her eyes for a moment, only to wake back up in her bedroom in the clothes seelkadoom gave her. She checks her sheets, and there’s no blood. There’s a bottle of water next to her, with some dark chocolate next to it. Nazo was nearby, sketching in what appears to be a sketchbook as she sits up and looks around hesitantly. Nazo then looks up at her and sets his sketchbook down on his lap.

Nazo: “welcome back, you were out for a while.”

Iris looks to him and raises an eyebrow.

Iris: “how long is “a while”?”

Nazo: “let’s see. Seelkadoom got you in the bath at around 6:30AM, and it’s now 2PM. So about 6 and a half hours.”

Iris’ eyes widen in shock, as she hasn’t slept that long into the day, especially with how early she went to bed last night due to how exhausted she was.

Iris: “damn, I’m sorry, I didn’t think I’d fall asleep like that.”

Nazo: “you didn’t just fell asleep, you fainted due to overheating in the water.”

Overheating? That doesn’t make any sense, she’s been in warm waters her whole life. Why is she all of a sudden fainting from overheating in the water?

Iris: “I.. I don’t get it, why is this happening now?”

Nazo is quiet for a few moments, before he looks at her with a nearly stern look.

Nazo: “I want to ask you a few things, are you okay with that?”

Iris nods and soon nazo begins asking the main questions. Eventually, after getting his answers, it was clear that she had a high chance of having POTS and/or PCOS.

Iris: “I don’t understand why you’re asking all of this..”

Nazo: “… Have you ever considered going to a gynecologist for your lack of cycles?”

Iris is confused for a second, then it connects in her head. He’s asking if she’s been diagnosed with PCOS or POTS.

Iris: “I did, I was diagnosed with PCOS and POTS. The POTS is in relation with the hormonal imbalance that comes with PCOS. If you were wondering. However, it doesn’t seem to make sense as to why-”

Iris looks up to him and is surprised by what she sees. Nazo seems to be feeling… sympathy? That’s something she’s rarely seen in him. Carefully, she stands up, takes a moment to allow her body to regulate, and then walks over to him and hugs him tightly.

Iris: “It’s okay hon, I was diagnosed since I was little.. I lived like this my whole life, so it’s not anything I can’t handle…”

Nazo was hesitant for a second, before wrapping his arms around her waist, hugging her in an almost protective manner.

Nazo: “I know you can handle it, you’re a strong woman. It’s just… I know how you feel. The heat irregulations, the constant need of salt in your body to let yourself be alive, everything. Along with the fact you’ve clearly been neglected by your family for so long, it’s a new sensation of anger and guilt that I haven’t felt in a while… Not since Aeon’s dad threatened to send her to…”

Iris shushes him softly and pets his head as she smiles softly, a small blush on her face as her scales glow softly. Never before has she seen someone become so angry on her behalf, yet is able to control it with only his own will. It was endearing to her.

Iris: “I understand, dearie… it hurts seeing someone you care for go through the same things you are with no way to help them. No matter how much you beg, plead, and cry out for help. Nobody who has actual power is willing to help due to the greed in their own hearts. Trust me, I know.

She continues to pet his head with a soft, yet exhausted smile. It feels good to know that she’s no longer alone in her conditions, to know that there’s someone there that has a similar situation to her, and can hopefully help her recover.

Seelkadoom then carefully wraps his arms around Iris’ shoulders and smirks as he looks down at her as she lets out a squeal and quickly takes her hands off of Nazo’s head.

Seelk: “hope I’m not interrupting anything important!”

Iris: “I uh, uhm.. no, not really! I think we just got caught up in the moment really!”

She stutters as Nazo looks up at seelkadoom and nods. Their suspicions were confirmed, and seelkadoom’s face seems to soften slightly. While he is the one with less morals, after seeing how Nazo struggles with it on a nearly daily basis, he can’t help but feel guilty for Iris, especially when she shows telltale signs of neglect by her parents, her father being the main abuser from it all.

As Nazo and seelkadoom let go, iris carefully leans onto the desk behind Nazo and smiles softly.

Iris: “You two are the sweetest men I’ve come across in my lifetime. I honestly don’t know how to repay you-“

Seelkadoom chuckles and carefully grabs her hand and squeezes it with reassurance.

Seelk: “you don’t have to. You’re our friend Iris, and we usually take good care of our friends and loved ones.”

Iris’ eyes widen slightly as looks at seelkadoom, then looks to nazo before he nods in response. Tears begin to swell in her eyes as her tail waves around. Is this what genuine kindness and love is? To not have to repay someone for doing something out of the kindness and love of their own hearts..? And to think they used to be the most powerful and heartless villains out there. While they still technically are villains, they’re nowhere near the monsters that we have to face today.

She quickly grasps seelkadoom into a tight hug, thanking them as she holds onto him in a tight hug, leading to a few chuckles from seelkadoom.

Soon, they were all getting ready to hang out with Nazo and Seelkadoom’s friends, apparently they’re all really nice, even if some of them are quite loud and crazy!

After getting into a nice black dress with spaghetti straps and a simple white cardigan, she pops on some red lipstick and a sweet honey perfume before she grabs a tote bag with her menstrual essentials that was made by Nazo and joins them outside.

Today feels like it’s going to be a great day!

Meanwhile, in the kingdom of the hedgesirens, a young woman, probably no older than 25, is in what appears to be in a young princess’ bedroom. Looking over the books that were in the room. Her quills were this soft black color, and her seafoam green tail waves around as her solid white eyes read through the books of old in the dusty and abandoned room. That is until another woman quietly enters the room. Her quills were black in the base, but had purple stripes, much similar to shadow and seelkadoom’s. However, her quills were much shorter in comparison to theirs.

???: “Scylla.”

Scylla: “hm?”

She turns to the other woman, it appears she is feeling defeated, almost afraid. Her metallic purple scales flashing in the dimly lit bedroom, with only the light of the water-enhanced sun shining through. Tears in her silvery eyes as she looks to her twin sister.

Scylla: “Circe, what is troubling you?”

Scylla closes the book and swims over to her twin, sensing the fear in her soul.

Circe: “Father has found Iris. He has found out of where she is staying in the overworld, and is currently interrogating other family members to find out who helped her escape. I fear the worst, sister. If he finds out that we helped her escape, I cannot imagine the punishment that awaits us… what shall we do?”

Scylla’s eyes widen in fear for a moment before she closes her eyes for a moment before remembering the prophecy calypso, their oldest sister, gave them the coming days before Iris’ departure. She knew that calypso’s prophetic dreams are very accurate, and if it were to be true, then it might come to pass sooner than anyone would’ve expected.

Scylla: “This has to be part of the nameless’ plans. After all, calypso’s predictions are almost second to perfection. If this somehow isn’t part of the plan, then we must bide Iris as much time as we can before they find her, no matter the cost. Do you understand me, Circe?”

Circe nods and wipes her tears, holding her stomach slightly as she hears a knock on the door. It was their mother, Queen Penelope.

Queen Penelope: “Girls, are you in there?”

Scylla: “… Yes mother, we are…”

Queen Penelope carefully opens the door and closes it, locking it behind her before she looks around Iris’ dusty and cobweb filled room. She was in shock that her husband let her room go uncleaned in so long.

Queen Penelope: “Oh… Iris’ room..”

Circe: “We know mother, this is one of the few times we’ve seen her room since she left…”

Scylla: “To think, the bastard of a father would neglect even her own room, yet expect her to return home after so long away from the kingdom she ran from. The hypocrisy in that man.. He will pay for it all with his flesh and blood…”

Scylla tightly grips the book in her clawed and webbed hands as her eyes begin to turn a blood red, before she closes her eyes and takes a deep breath in to soothe her nerves. Much like Iris, she has been neglected by the man, and has seen how he treats his people first hand. However, unlike Iris, she never got to run away. Forever trapped in the castle as the monster of the royal family, yet she was accepted by her fellow sisters all the same.

Circe: “We understand your anger, dear sister, but the truth will come out, as it always does. However, instead of shoving it under the rug as he has always been able to, he will be punished for his crimes.”

Queen Penelope: “I agree with Circe, we must bide as much time as we can before she returns. As only the nameless know what will happen to her if she returns too early.”

Knock knock knock. It was the royal guards.

Royal guard: “Your majesties, it is your turn to speak with the king. Please open the door and allow us to escort you to the throne room.”

Circe and Scylla, then look to their mother, giving them a nod before they all huddled together for one final hug, and a kiss on each daughter’s forehead. Soon, Queen Penelope unlocks the door, and they all walk out. Whatever happens after this, they know they did what they could in order to protect their family, and they pray to the nameless that everything will pass in due time.
