Autumn Inspirations

Autumn is the time to pack away the neons and pinks and look towards more earthy colours like burnt orange, mustard, terracotta, etc. If you need colour inspiration for this season, look at the fall foliage around you - think yellow, orange, red, etc.

As women, we usually find something orange or red in our wardrobe but yellow is a debatable colour. I know women who say they love all colours but you would rarely find yellow in their closets. I don’t know what it is with this colour but most of us shy away from wearing yellow. My argument is that if you can wear hot pink or red, you can most definitely wear yellow - the key is how you wear it. Bright yellow always pops out more when you pair it with black, blue, or white. So, if you’re like me and you want to tone down the brightness of the yellow, then combine it with muted tones like olive green, terracotta, slate grey. For example, check out the cute outfit below with the olive green skirt and chunky scarf and all the accessories that work with the ‘autumn’ look yet doesn’t take your eye away from the clothes.

It’s lush green this time of the year so I would definitely recommend introducing the colour ‘green’ as a staple for your autumn wardrobe. Some of my favourites are a chunky olive green jumper, plain/checked green scarf, and green coloured earrings or dark green clutch (for those nights out) - these basics go with everything and the combinations are endless. If you’re lucky enough to possess a green skirt, then I absolutely love the 'green skirt/white tee' look below. Depending on where you live, if autumn is slightly cold for you, replace the white tee with a long-sleeved tee or a tight-knit jumper; alternatively, you can also wear a black leather jacket on top or a chic blazer.

Jackets or blazers are the most useful pieces of clothing you can have in your wardrobe; they make any outfit look chic. Living in UK however, I always find that there is no perfect time to wear a leather jacket - either it’s too hot or too cold or just raining! But if you can ignore the rain (unless it’s pouring!), October is the leather jacket (or blazer) month. This is the month to take out all your blazers and hood-less jackets, combine them in fun ways with your outfits, add simple accessories, and you’ll look like you’re ready to take on the world. Autumn is officially sneaker season! Don’t take out your boots just yet instead, put on those chunky trainers, distressed sneakers, Jordans, and all those summer sneaker trends you’ve been storing up on. Women spend half of summer wearing sneakers in the sun when they should actually have been showing off those pretty feet in flats and stilettos. Autumn is the season to start wearing sneakers when it’s getting a little cold for bare feet but not enough to cover them up completely with boots. Plus, now is the time when all the expensive shoe brands have their sneaker sale so, those D&G dad sneakers that were selling like hotcakes in summer, will be on discount now.
