After writing that overly long essay on who could take Hades’ mantle as the new big bad of Kid Icarus, I still have that writing itch on me and now I’ve started to wonder which mythological figures would make great minor antagonists or rivals. I’m really starting to regret bringing that shovel with me.

This all can be blamed on Philammon and Autolycus, twins with different fathers Philammon’s father is Apollo, Autolycus’ is Hermes and vastly different personalities - Philammon was an excellent musician and Autolycus was a cunning shapeshifter who used this power to rob people. Look me into my eyes and say that they wouldn’t make great rivals for Pit and Pittoo, I dare you.

#personal thoughts #kid icarus #ki #kiu #pit #dark pit #philammon is for pittoo. i like the idea of him having more chill and artistic rival who knows how to fight but doesn't really care to #it would be borderline friendly rivalry. they can have deep conversations with each other even if pittoo may think philammon is boring #autolycus is for pittoo. everything about that sneaky shapeshifter clashes with pit and i think it would be used for drama #like maybe pit is even jealous of him. autolycus' power is his and only his - he doesn't need divine assistance to shapeshift #that would make interesting rivalry. and i hate thieves in games but i would make exception for this #also there could be pretty interesting themes about brotherhood. like both pairs are different but brotherly love is still there #maybe i should start writing something about this. no promises tho #autolycus is also grandpa of many other figures. like jason odysseus and sinon are all his grandsons #and the madlad robbed sisyphus. now that would be a funny thing to bring up if ares indeed is pit's dad.
