Autistic-coded Frankie is slaying the screen right now !!

Between the two episodes alone, we can see them stimming at one point (they kick their legs when they’re excited/happy), they looked up the rules to being a good friend, and they made a comment that the others found funny (without intending to joke around) and proceeded to ask “why are we laughing?” They were giving Draculaura advice about something and used the analogy “it’s good to share ice cream, but only if it’s yours.” They then proceeded to infodump about an experience they had with ice cream (or better yet, eye scream haha) and djkjkdkjskj omg I love them !!

By the way, disclaimer, these traits don’t necessarily make someone autistic; I’m just jumping on the bandwagon that people believe Frankie to be autistic :) They’re definitely autistic-coded. I am not autistic myself, but I have autistic friends, and I want to make sure that my viewpoint is in no way harmful/stereotypical. I love the route that Monster High has taken of having Frankie present these traits, it’s just JDDJDJK I LOVE THEM SM :’)

One thing I did like about the live action monster high movie is that they didn’t mishandle Frankie being nonbinary.

What's Franky K. Stein? :3

Franny K. Stein is a book series about a 7 year old mad scientist!! There are 8 out so far (I have the first 7) and two more coming out in July and August of this year!!

The stories detail the adventures of Franny as she tries to find a place she truly feels she belongs, since nobody else seems to understand her and most people aside from her teacher are scared of her for being different- all while fighting monsters that, honestly, were usually her own creations gone awry. Though she's not alone, she does have a lab assistant (well, he's not a pure lab. He's also part poodle, part chihuahua, part beagle, part spaniel, part shepherd, and part some kind of weasly thing that's not even exactly a dog) named Igor who helps her out with her experiments, and though he's somewhat dimwitted he means well. It's a really cute and funny series and something I really relate to, since the main character is pretty heavily autistic-coded and I struggle with a lot of the same issues that Franny faces, minus fighting a 50-foot-tall cupid or learning to time travel to stop yourself from destroying the world, of course. But yeah, it's just a cute little series about a mad science kid living in a normal person world.

Honestly, i think Frankie should be with whoever the fuck she wants to be with at any given moment.

I don't mean this disrespectfully to shippers, believe me I'm one of y'all and I was there for the Frankie and Jackson/Holt advocacy, and I still like them as a ship, but I remember something I believe one of the writers said in like an interview or something about this that I really agree with.

And I feel like he felt the need to say that because a lot of people always ask "wait, so who does Frankie actually like? who does she end up with?", and basically he said that she's still young and she shouldn't be expected to lock herself in a relationship so soon and if she wants to play the field or however he phrased it then she should not be shamed for it.

And I find it a very refreshing take that the answer is it doesn't matter and she's a teenager and she might change her mind a hundred times before she settles on anyone and she doesn't have to settle on anyone really, because relationships can look like so many different things.

Personally? I think she might be arospec, and my biggest reason for this is actually Voodude himself, because so much of how she approaches romance has an element of "this is what's expected of me, so I'm supposed to be interested in it. I need to act a certain way to fit in."

Although one could also argue that that's more autistic coded than aerospec coded, but that's a whole other subject that I would gladly go into a different rant about.

Anyway I didn't mean to make this the "let Frankie live" rant but it's been on my mind for a while, sorry.

As for the actual subject of this ask, Voodude canonically doesn't feel pain but gets battered around a lot, and Neighthan as part of his unicorn nature Is a healer.

So already there is a strong potential for some interactions there, with Voodude getting slapstick abused, Neighthan checking in on him out of concern, Voodude reassuring him that it's okay because he can't get hurt, and Neighthan who we've also seen help people on an emotional level, would ask if he's okay anyway because just because it doesn't hurt on the outside doesn't mean it doesn't hurt on the inside.

I also think Neighthan is possibly the only person capable of handling Voodude as softly as he deserves, again physically and emotionally, and he doesn't have any of the baggage of knowing Voodude beforehand the way the rest of Monster High does.

Like I don't think it's brought up enough but everyone in MH knows that Voodude was made by Frankie as a fake boyfriend who she then didn't want and left alone.

Like not to rag on the same girl I just spent paragraphs defending, but that's kind of fucked up, Stein.

Neighthan however doesn't know, because he's new to Monster High and no one would have brought it up to him because it would never have been relevant at any point, which means Voodude finally has the privacy and autonomy to decide if and when to tell someone about it.

Because again, I cannot stress enough how traumatic it would be to be made for a certain purpose and then the person who made you decides they don't want you anymore.

(honestly the amount of things in Monster High that have implications that are so fucked up but are played off as jokes are something that I could go into a third, different rant about).

But yeah in any case these are just some of the reasons I can think of them working well together.

I humbly bring before you another rarepair:

Voodude and Neighthan. Is it a bit of a joke ship because they're both throwaway love interests for Frankie? Sure, but then the more I thought about them together the more potential I saw until it made like a lot of sense.

Anyway I'll elaborate tomorrow because right now I really need to sleep.
