Top Solo Travel Deals Central Europe
Top Solo Travel Deals Central Europe – Slovenia: Bargains still exist in this great mix of Old Europe and 21st-century vitality.
Always looking for new solo travel destinations, I followed a friend’s suggestion to try Slovenia.
Traveling alone, the prices were good. In addition, Slovenia provides multiple options for hiking in the summer, and skiing in the winter.
Looking for a history/cultural tour? You will also find that well-priced in Slovenia!
Having been to former Yugoslavia’s Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia, Slovenia made sense as the next step.
After arriving in Zurich, I discovered my flight to the capital city, Ljubljana, had been cancelled.
However, I was quickly accommodated and dispatched to Germany for a connecting flight. On arrival, a fellow passenger and I watched forlornly. The door on our flight closed leaving us behind. Not to worry, I was reticketed on a flight to Austria. I arrived hours before the next scheduled flight to Slovenia. I waited to make it to my fifth country in 18 hours. However, I kept my eyes glued to the jet way. I was afraid I would fall asleep, miss the flight and be sent to a 6th country!
It was well worth the journey. Ljubljana’s historic area was a surprise. It looked more like Vienna than the Balkans.
My Art Nouveau choice, the Grand Hotel Union Executive, combined style with convenience. It was walking distance to the Old Town and its multiple restaurants . Fortunately, they were still serving at 10 PM. Eating alone was no problem. After a lively conversation with the table next to me, I could almost say I felt like I was solo no more!
The next day I was struck by how similar the architecture along the Gallus Embankment was to parts of St. Petersburg.
The Ljubljana Castle had a colorful history. It had defended against the Ottomans. It also had served as a prison in the Austrian Empire and again was a prison during World War II.
Afterwards, I strolled back through the Old Town and the Plaza. A Triple Bridge leads out of the Old Town. It is made for pedestrians but has enchanting Old World style. My favorite though was the Dragon Bridge. It is topped by a fierce creature keeping watch over the city. It would put any mere gargoyle to shame!
Top Solo Travel Deals Central Europe – Slovenia: Bled:
Having felt so at home, I was almost sorry that it was time to move on the next day.
I was off via public bus for another three day adventure.
My next stop was the enchanting, historic town of Bled. I had read about the town of Bled for years. It is a famous tourist haven since the nineteenth century. It has been popular also with the ruling dynasty and later Yugoslav’s Tito.
In the current day it is also a great spot for hiking, golf and fishing.
I had two chief objectives: (i) visiting Bled Castle and (ii) exploring the small island of Bled and its Church of the Assumption. I was surprised to see there was no pedestrian bridge to the church. Access was by boat only. That was not possible in the dead of winter when “icebergs“ predominated.
Undaunted, I struck out for my second destination. To reach Bled Castle, my faithful guidebook described a comfortable hike. Unfortunately, they failed to mention anything about trying this mid-winter without shoes with cleats!
Its history even antedates William the Conqueror’s Conquest of England. Of course, castles, as fortresses, are always atop very high hills. As I approached the hill, it looked like a snow-capped Mt. Everest crowned at the top with ice-covered boulders. When I somehow made it to the entrance, I realized getting down would be even more challenging. After my tour, no taxis were available. In a moment of desperation which I do not recommend as general practice, I accepted a ride with a stranger: A kindly, elderly gentleman who found me stumbling down the hillside in the ice. A safer alternative to hitchhiking would have been to sit down and slide down like a human luge.
Top Solo Travel Deals Central Europe – Slovenia: Julian Alps:
Next I headed out to my last destination, Kranjska Gora on the Austrian border.
My goal was to ski the Julian Alps.
By then, I thought I was an old pro at mastering local buses. However, I discovered a large difference between the English words “bus stop” and “bus station”. The bus stopped suddenly on a two-lane road and opened the door. Without knowing a word of Slovenian, I quickly understood this was the end of the line for me! I jumped out into the snow with my suitcase. Across the way, I saw the village with a path through the snowdrifts. Guided by welcoming local residents, I located my hotel. Fortunately, it was painted a very bright yellow and conspicuous from a distance.
My first day on the slopes I skipped my usual routine: a private or semi-private lesson to get the lay of the land.
That was a mistake. My rental skis had been set by height and weight. However, I had not thought to have them also set according to my ability. As an infrequent intermediate skier, there was more ice than I could handle. The result? At the top of the slope, the one ski that came off would not go back on. The second ski would not come off at all. Glad there were no witnesses, I was rescued by a snowmobile. I was sent down the chair lift with my skis then firmly in my lap. As I approached the bottom of the lift, loud shouts began instructing me exactly(?) what to do. Not understanding a word of Slovenian, I just waited for the lift to stop. When that never happened, I took a wild leap on the still moving lift. Luckily, the next day with a private lesson went much more smoothly.
Then it was back to Ljubljana for a little shopping and a much shorter flight home! I was confess this was a more successful
Slovenia: In Conclusion:
Looking back on it, Slovenia was a great choice for a solo traveler because of:
Attractive prices even when traveling alone
Friendly people and safe environment
Active sports options summer and winter
Multiple historic and cultural sites to explore
Available local public transportation
Proximity to the crossroads of Europe for combining vacations
The benefit of still being off the usual tourist route.

Arplis - News: 8 Reasons Why Idaho is Your Ultimate Winter Family Destination
When you are itching for a family vacation that includes snow and small town charm, make plans to head to Ketchum, Idaho. From the minute you land in the Sun Valley Airport, the scenery is absolutely gorgeous. Scroll through to discover all that youll find when you spend your winter vacation here.
photo: Kate Loweth
1. Idaho is a winter wonderland.
Whether your main reason to visit is to hit the slopes or you are looking for some off-mountain winter adventures, there's so much to do here. The small Sun Valley Airport majorly increases the number of direct flights during the winter months (from LA, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Seattle and Denver) so that getting there is easy from wherever you live. Even the 20 minute drive from the airport to the adorable town of Ketchum is full of snow-topped mountains, rushing rivers and even elk.

2. The Limelight Hotel Ketchum is the perfect family home base.
A stay at the Limelight Hotel Ketchum is easy and that starts from your arrival at the airport. The hotel runs a shuttle to pick you up and you can take the shuttle from the hotel to the ski areas and pretty much anywhere around town that you'd like to go. This allows you to skip renting a car entirely. If you need to borrow a ride to go farther out of town, ask the concierge about their Audi e-tron test drive program.
Families will love the amply-sized rooms at the Limelight that have room for all your winter gear and amazing views of the nearby mountains. They even have two- and three-bedroom residences on the top floor that have full kitchens, huge bathrooms, multiple balconies and room to spread out.
Forgot your gloves or goggles at home? Sturtevants is the onsite ski and snowboard rental shop that can hook you up. Or, head to the massive (and amazing) Gold Mine resale shop a few blocks away where they have literally everything you might need for a snowy adventure. When you return from your day of skiing, store your gear in the ski locker on the first floor of the hotel so that you don't have to schlep everything up to your room.
Warm up after a day on the slopes with a dip in the heated outdoor pool or grab some s'mores packs to get cooking on the outdoor fire pits. You can even peer up at the skiers on the mountains or the stars in the evening with the hotel's telescope located near the ballroom.
Hotel stays come with a generous breakfast buffet in the lounge. Here you can also enjoy live music Friday through Sunday nights during peak season while you enjoy a drink and a pizza from their wood-fired pizza oven.
The kid-favorite feature of the Limelight Hotel has got to be the game room that's right off the lounge. Here they can battle in a vintage game of Donkey Kong, read books, play with puzzles and more. Kids can hang out within eyesight of parents, giving parents the opportunity to relax and enjoy their meal and the live music. There's also a tabletop shuffle board in the lounge that's fun for all ages.

3. Sun Valley Lodge offers dining, ice skating and shopping.
A visit to Sun Valley Lodge should definitely be on your must-do list when you head to Ketchum. The shuttle from the Limelight Hotel will get you there in about 10 minutes and you'll want to stay all day. Walk through the lobby and you'll see their outdoor ice rink with skates you can rent right there. Downstairs in the lodge you'll find their game room and bowling alley, complete with arcade games, appetizers and even adult beveragesperfect for a winter afternoon.
Just a short walk from the main building is the Sun Valley Villagean adorable grouping of restaurants and shops with everything from ski gear to souvenirs to homemade chocolates. We especially love Konditeri for a family-friendly meal with an Austrian twist. Or better yet, swing by to take a glimpse of their massive case of sweet treats. The holidays bring the Winter Wonderland festival to the Village with carolers, sleigh rides, cookie decorating and more. Check out their events calendar to see what's happening when you visit.
photo: Kate Loweth
4. Take a day away at Galena Lodge.
Borrow the Audi e-tron from the Limelight and head out of town for some cross country skiing or snowshoeing at Galena Lodge. This gem in the woods is about a 30-minute drive from Ketchum and totally worth the effort to get there. Gear is available to rent onsite or bring your own if you've got it. They have tons of snowshoeing and cross country skiing trails for every ability. Kids will love showshoeing on the Galena View Trail as it's a nice loop with minimal elevation change. The views are epic and even your dog can join you on the adventure. You can book a guided snowshoe hike if you'd like an expert to lead the way.
After you've worked up an appetite, pick a spot by the fire inside the lodge and enjoy lunch. We recommend the grown-up grilled cheese and the chili of the day to get your warmed up. Everything is made in house and portions are generous and delicious! You won't want to get back in your car after you've had a chance to relax by the fire.
While you hang out in the lodge, the kids can head outside to grab one of the sleds that are available for visitors. The hills right next to to lodge are perfect to get them going.
For some extra-special adventure, Galena Lodge has yurts that you stay in for the night. They can only be accessed by skiing or snowshoeing!
photo: Kate Loweth
5. Bald Mountain offers skiing and dining with an EPIC view.
Just a five minute shuttle ride from the Limelight Hotel will get you to the foot of Bald Mountain, the area's massive ski resort. Here you can do the usual skiing and snowboarding but we also have a recommendation for the non-skiers. Buy a "foot traffic" pass for the gondola and you can ride it up the mountain. At the top of the gondola, walk up the stairs to the Roundhouse where you can enjoy fondue with a view. Cozy up around the six-sided fireplace or grab a table at the window to watch the skiers hit the mountain. The lobster roll is another crowd favorite and the kids menu includes the usuals like chicken fingers and burgers.
Skiers looking for some mountain time on a smaller scale can spend the day at Sun Valley's Dollar Mountain, perfect for beginners.
photo: Kate Loweth
6. Ketchum is full of history.
Sun Valley is famous for its beautiful mountains and is also well-known as the final resting place of American author Ernest Hemingway. While you can't visit his former home, you can take the kids to the Sun Valley Regional History Museum to learn about his time in Idaho. The museum is located right behind the Limelight Hotel and also has a fun train exhibit that the kids can drive themselves. Check out the pelts of animals that live in this area of the country and then venture next door to the museum's second building to see how ski clothing has changed over the years.
photo: Kate Loweth
7. There's no shortage of great places to eat in town.
In addition to the amazing dining at the Limelight Hotel and Sun Valley Lodge, the main drag in Ketchum is full of restaurants that are perfect for a cold winter's night. We highly recommend heading to Pioneer Saloon to try out their giant steaks and even more giant baked potatoes. This low-key and welcoming restaurant is perfect for kids as the service is fast and friendly. Ask for a table by the kitchen and they'll be entertained while you wait. The Jim Spud is a not-to-be-missed item on the menua massive Idaho baked potato topped with teriyaki beef, cheese, sour cream and butter. YUM.
Despo's Mexican Restaurant is another family favorite with large portions and some of the best salsa we've ever had. They serve locally-sourced meats and are strongly committed to making environmental choices such as avoiding non-recyclable take out containers. We love that!
photo: Kate Loweth
8. Idaho has it all, and more.
Put Sun Valley and Ketchum, Idaho on your list this winter for a long weekend (or more) of family fun. You'll have all the great skiing you want without having to deal with the crowds and craziness that comes from some ski destinations. And if you are looking for some off-the-mountain winter adventures, this area of the country can definitely deliver.
Kate Loweth
This trip was paid for by the Limelight Hotel Ketchum but all opinions belong to the author.

deluxe campervan hire new zealand
You also have a great view from the Auckland Harbor Bridge. You can climb on them, just like on the Harbor Bridge in Sydney, and experience a unique view. The ideal round trip for those with an insatiable thirst for adventure! The combination of unique landscapes and action-packed activities and hikes promises the ultimate kiwi experience. In February, the weather remains at a similar level, with the number of hours of sun falling slightly. If you are looking for a hiking holiday in New Zealand, you will do everything right in the New Zealand summer. I believe that. When I look through the photos and see all the New Zealand photos on Instagram, I always get wanderlust again and again. Had I told my friend three years ago that we were flying to New Zealand and Australia via Canada, he would have thought I was completely crazy. You can also find great offers for volunteering abroad or language trips. In principle, you can therefore drive your motorhome in New Zealand with a German driver's license. From hip hostels in Sydney to chic hotels in Bangkok, we have the right accommodation for every budget. STA Travel is an absolute expert when it comes to Around the World tickets.
When is summer in New Zealand?
Oceania. In geopolitical terms, New Zealand is part of the so-called continent of Oceania, along with Australia and the islands in the northwest and south Pacific. Hawke's Bay and the Central Volcanic Plateau can be reached from the capital as well as from Auckland. On the west coast is Taranaki Peninsula, whose center is the impressive volcano Mount Tarawera. Another popular destination for nomadic motorhome tourists. Auckland is located on a isthmus, near the upper edge of the North Island and is the largest city in the country. With its multicultural population, its growing art scene and the growing culinary offer, the endlessly long beach landscapes and the wealth of history, it is an exciting and fascinating place to start your holiday with your motorhome. So it's worth a try;) So let me put it this way, three weeks are of course really little for the flight time, but it's worth it. If you only concentrate on one island, three weeks are quite feasible.
If you arrive in the high season, you should at least book early.
for longer rentals Most campers (except hi-top campers) have economical diesel engines.
If you want to explore New Zealand with a camper, there are also special requirements for the camper.
Yes Breakdowns can occur even with the best maintenance.
A well-equipped motorhome with two fixed double beds for a maximum of 4 people.
5 tips for motorhome holidays cheap campervan hire NZ in New Zealand
In the winter months, temperatures drop extremely and the number of rainy days increases. But if you want to spend a winter and ski vacation in New Zealand, the months of June to August are ideal. A motorhome, on the other hand, has an autonomous drive and combines the cab and living area on four wheels.
How does MotorHome Republic work?
Accordingly, the selection is the largest here - but the cars are also the most expensive. For example, it is cheaper in Christchurch on the South Island. The season also plays an important role in the purchase.
Glacier hikes and ice caves can be found north on Fox Glacier. Then it goes on to Mount Cook National Park, Paparoa National Park with its pancake rocks, Abel Tasman National Park and the inlets of the Marlborough Sounds. At Lake Te Anau you can visit the Fiordland National Park and discover the flora after the great fauna.
How much does a visa cost for Australia?
New Zealand is one of the few countries in the world where there are no terrestrial snakes (but there are three types of sea snakes in the surrounding sea). In 1907, at the request of the New Zealand Prime Minister Seddon, three pairs of chamois came to New Zealand through a gift from the Austrian Emperor. For the nights, you should take warmer clothes with you, as they are quite cool. In May the weather is less stable than in the other months of New Zealand's autumn.

It's best to look for the “No Camping” signs or stop at a DOC Information Center and ask. The right driver's license for your motorhome Before you start your journey, you have to plan a few things.
Find the right motorhome
What is the currency in New Zealand?
New Zealand is one of the few countries in the world where there are no terrestrial snakes (but there are three types of sea snakes in the surrounding sea). In 1907, at the request of the New Zealand Prime Minister Seddon, three pairs of chamois came to New Zealand through a gift from the Austrian Emperor. All turning circles motorhomes and rental cars can be transported on the Interislander ferry between Wellington on the North Island and Picton on the South Island. Our ferry tickets are completely flexible and allow you to travel to both islands comfortably. However, if your group consists of several people, it makes sense to switch to a large motorhome. As a rule, these models offer a double bed in the rear area and often an alcove bed above the driver's cabin - this ensures sufficient sleeping space. Manoeuvrable panel van or do you prefer attached living space? After that there is still use. As a retro camper at Hippie. Most of them are hi-top camper vans. The most beautiful new zealand motorhome places in particular offer cheap, sparsely furnished campsites that are best enjoyed by camper or campervan.
Rental car providers only rent about 30% of their vehicles directly via their websites.
You can recognize the vehicles everywhere by the color alone and are enjoying increasing international popularity!
I would say that this is worth considering.
This island state offers many interesting excursion destinations, which is why it is best to explore the island with a rented motorhome from McRent.
The blue sticker is only available if there is only a minimal risk to the environment and your own and the health of others.
How expensive are 4 weeks in New Zealand?
That means: The winters are mild and the summer months are warm. In summer you can have a great time on the beach here. December, January, February and March are the best travel times for a beach holiday on New Zealand's North Island. Many holidaymakers choose this travel time for their New Zealand trip. However, if you want to spend the night in the beautiful nature, it is worth renting a vehicle with a toilet on board. If you want to stay on the floor, we recommend visiting one of the many museums. How about, for example, the Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki? Hikes may be more suitable for less adventurous people. In the immediate vicinity of Queenstown you can enjoy unique views of the Alps, the city and Lake Wakatipu. But the city also has a lot to offer for cozy hours. Whether hiking, skiing or nature, everyone gets their money's worth in Queenstown. Are you interested in culture? Then Christchurch has several interesting museums to offer. For example the Canterbury Museum, the Christchurch Art Gallery or the Air Force Museum of New Zealand. Aotearoa - New Zealand, “the land of the long white cloud”. The North Island offers the right place for every traveler. Deserted beaches, sulfur springs, Maori culture.

Maroon Bells Aspen Colorado in fall.
Solely the panorama is like an exaggerated retouched postcard. White mountain peaks, sparkling blue skies, and powder snow. In the valley, the forests turn into color in all shades of red. Is that really possible? Yes, it is
Colorado is not just wild west and cowboys. Colorado has 25 ski resorts that advertise the slogan “America’s best skiing.”
The sophisticated Aspen has, in addition to its stylish infrastructure, over 2,230 hectares of slopes. Four ski areas can be reached from here. Snowmass, Aspen Highlands, and Buttermilk are the names of the popular mountains where Wintersports lovers prefer to spend their Winter holidays on skiers.
Aspen Colorado winter wonderland
Hard to believe that the ski resort was a small mountain settlement at the end of the 19th century. Aspen grew quickly after finding silver in the mountains.
After the silver boom, the village fell into slumber again, until a wealthy industrialist, Walter P. Paepcke from Chicago reactivated it in 1945 by building the longest chairlift of the world.
A ski resort was born and many celebrities followed his invitation. Five years after the end of the war, the first World Cup was played here.
The ski enthusiastic upper class initially resided in the small chalets that sprouted from the ground for this purpose.
Since then, a lot of time has passed and Aspen has evolved. Well-known hotel chains followed. Today the Who’s Who of Hollywood flies in with their private jets to spend Christmas and New Year. Even Kevin Costner has a villa here where he likes to spend the holidays with friends.
For the locals, admittedly rather few, it just means just wait. With the beginning of March, the hype has retired. Autumn is considered a “Secret Season”. In this season you can experience the famous Indian Summer and plan extensive hiking tours.

“The Little Nell” has been around for a long time. Short way to the slopes, very close if you want shopping or for a short walk to the city center. Great service, valet parking a nightclub and a restaurant. Many celebrities romp around here in the evening. watch out.
Snowmass

The Viceroy is very popular with families. The larger rooms have a kitchen, several bathrooms and are very spacious. The hotel’s owned ski rental makes it easy, also for long-distance travelers to spontaneously make a ski trip. Shuttle to and from the slopes. The village is also fast reachable and within walking distance. The reputation of excellent service precedes the hotel.

Hot Springs
Quaint, close to nature and authentic. American hut magic with flair.
https://www.duntondestinations.com/hot-springs/
A stay at Dunton Hot Springs is a special experience. The former gold digger village in a lonely clearing high on the mountain offers luxurious, lovingly furnished log cabins. Bookworms get their money’s worth in the specially designed library. Here is also unwind and relax announced. The wooden bathhouse invites you to take a dip in the hot springs in the open air. The dinner is taken together on a huge table and you get to know the other guests in a family atmosphere. Highly Recommended!
Superlative in Zermatt
Since the 3S cable car opening, the new Glacier Ride, the place below the Matterhorn is unbeatable. So at least the unanimous opinion of the testers. From Zermatt to the Italian town of Breuil-Cervinia, proud 360 kilometers of pistes run from 2,900 to 3,920 vertical meters. Snow is assured here.
Zermatt is not cheap, that is to say straight away. Nevertheless, the price/performance ratio and the service are excellent. Another advantage – here the sport is the topic and not celebrate the Apres-Ski. If you are looking for cheap sausages with sauce, or reflect for a “high life” in the evening, you are at the wrong place. It is pure Swiss here. A nice pleasant setting to the Austrian ski circus. Attention – these slopes are tough – nothing for beginners.

Extraordinary Accommodations
That’s difficult with over 30 five star hotels. I especially noticed these three:
For stargazers and people with an affection for the extraordinary

For all starry sky lovers an ideal place to live out all your passions: watch the stars, eat very well and sleep in exceptional hotels. However, you should do your reservation in time. Even if the rooms are nothing special, the location is popular. On the clear Swiss starry sky, you can count stars while lying in your bed, give them names, give them away until you sleep soundly.

Cervio Chalets Zermatt
https://www.cervo.ch/de/
Designed in the typical Swiss chalet style, the building already emits coziness and warmth from the outside look. The traditional house is known for its charming Swiss service. Although the wood-paneled rooms are rather small, the view of the Matterhorn is compensating this. Each chalet has its own small spa and traditional cuisine at the restaurant is recommended.

Admittedly, it’s a bit off – the mountain hotel Riffelalp. But if you are looking for recreation, and want to enjoy luxury after your skiing it is the right place at 2200 meters a.S. The trip with the Riffelalp rack railway is especially entertaining. Another highlight is the hot outdoor pool overlooking the Matterhorn. Modest service, rooms are typically Swiss discreet and tastefully decorated. However, if you want to spend your holidays not only in the hotel and on the slopes should possibly arrive by car. The connection to the train station is not very frequent.
Free-Riding in the Arlberg Area
From Stuben to Zürs. Four beautiful ski areas. St. Anton, Lech-Zürs and Warth-Schröcken – proudly offering 305 kilometers of pistes and state-of-the-art lifts and facilities and free-riders get their money’s worth at almost 200 kilometers in deep snow. Also, the nightlife rocks the polar bear here. The entertainment program of St. Anton has it all. Since it is difficult for some to go back to the skis the next morning.
For those who like it a bit calmer, but also more expensive, Lech is perfect. Here you can enjoy champagne and many culinary delicacies after a successful day’s skiing. Not in vain the Swedish royal house prefers to stay here during their Winter Holiday.
Families feel very well in Schröcken Zürs and Warth. Beautiful huts invite you to stop for a bite. One puts on family friendliness. So also the hotels in these regions.

The hotel industry has adapted to the different target groups and everything from luxury resorts to family hotels can be found. My Top 3 In this region:
My hotel selection
Lech
youtube
https://postlech.com/
It is one of the most beautiful traditional houses that Lech has to offer. Successful here is the preservation of the old buildings in addition to modern home furnishings. Unpretentious luxury resort with excellent service. Especially nice it is the hotel garden, which is worth a photo.
St. Anton
https://www.antonerhof.at/de/
The family running hotel has a very individual style. The balancing act between tradition and modernity succeeded. Although the room details need getting used to, it fits in with people’s sense of unique hotels. The fusion kitchen has an excellent reputation, the service suits and three minutes to the next lift are perfect. The proximity of the place also makes it interesting for Apres Ski and Party People.
Zürs
Image: Website linking Thurners
https://www.thurnhers.com/
And just in Zürs the only Leading Hotel of the World of the whole ski region is located here. The leadership of the Thurnhers ensures that this award is appropriate. But other awards regularly cheering the family-business house. Connoisseur Circle to Austria’s Best Ski Resort 2016, Sense Award, American Academy of Hospitality Sciences, and much more. In fact, this over 100 years old hotel is something special. Just an LHW hotel. Tip: book directly and enjoy the direct price advantage.in

Where to go on holiday in September, from Chile to Canada
Time to turn over a new leaf with an out-of-the-ordinary early-autumn escape. Think: South American skiing, Canada’s heavenly lakes or a music festival in the Italian mountains.
Here are the best places to escape to in September.
Trentino, Italy
We’ll tell you what’s true. You can form your own view.

The Sounds of the Dolomites is performed at 2,000 metres above sea level (Paolo Bisti Luconi)
The hills are well and truly alive with music in Italy’s north east this month, as the Sounds of the Dolomites (until 15 September) returns for its 25th year of open-air concerts – everything from classical music to jazz to folk – held in stunning mountaintop spots, reachable only on foot. Think: grand pianos played in open meadows and steel drum bands filling a ravine, and new for 2019, the first entire opera to be performed at 2,000 metres above sea level. Regional capital Trento is also a delight, where Renaissance palaces and piazzas meet apple strudels and beer halls that show the influence of Austria. Cyclists will be in their element around here, with 400km of paved biking paths fanning out from the town. For an upmarket “base camp”, stay at Hotel Costabella (rooms from 92) beside the San Pellegrino Pass.
Average temperature in September: 21°C Flight time: 1h 45m (to Milan)
Marrakech, Morocco
Find some of Morocco’s best food and crafts in Marrakesh’s busy Medina (iStock)
Marrakech makes escapism so darn easy, its labyrinthine spice-scented souks and Moorish palaces lying less than four hours from the UK, with no time difference. Hardly surprisingly, then, that the city’s popularity continues to surge – American Express reports travel bookings have increased 89 per cent year over year – and Instagram is awash with people posing against Jardin Majorelle’s cobalt-blue walls or the prettily-tiled courtyard pool of Riad Yasmine (rooms from £138). “Marrakech taught me colour,” the iconic designer Yves Saint Laurent once said, and fittingly the city now has an excellent museum exhibiting the French fashion legend’s finest creations. September has the advantage of comfortably cooler temperatures, yet still balmy enough to linger in pavement cafes after dark for mint tea and mezze, after checking out the snake charmers and contortionists in Jemaa el-Fnaa square. Meanwhile, just outside the city, two cool electronic music festivals, Atlas Electronic (28 August-2 September) and Oasis (13-15 September), are taking place against a backdrop of the Atlas Mountains.
Average temperature in September: 27°C Flight time: 3h 40m
Valparaiso, Chile
Inca Lake is surrounded by ski slopes (Brent Jacoby)
Skiing in September? Absolutely – it’s prime time to hit the slopes in the Andes. Its top-rated resort, Portillo, is just a couple of hours from Santiago and offers gloriously uncrowded slopes, with plenty of runs for beginners and seasoned skiers alike. The resort has one – fortunately, excellent – hotel option, Ski Portillo, its sunny yellow building sitting pretty at 2,880m (seven-night stays from £1,893, including lodging, meals, lift pass and more). There’s a huge hot tub for soaking weary muscles along with the bonus of ski-in ski-out accommodation. And well, if the slopes are good enough for the US, Canadian, Norwegian and Austrian National Ski Teams to train on, who are we to argue? Tie in with a couple of nights in Santiago for the perfect city-meets-snow escape.
Average temperature in September: -2°C Flight time: 14h 35m
West Ireland
View across the water to Galway City (iStock)
Tuck into the spoils of the North Atlantic coast at a Taste of West Cork (6-15 September) and Galway International Oyster and Seafood Festival (27-29 September), marking the beginning of the native oyster harvest – the latter hosts the World Oyster Opening Championships (honestly, it’s a thing) plus parades, and plenty of stout and champagne to sip with your shellfish. Harbour town Galway is known for its arty bohemian scene, and also, increasingly, as a champion of organic, farm-to-fork cooking, the pinnacle of which has to be Michelin-starred Loam’s seasonal tasting menus.
But of course the biggest draw for most heading to south-west Ireland is the sensational coastal scenery: driving along the Wild Atlantic Way, you’ll constantly encounter windswept castles and vast sand beaches, as well as megalithic tombs older than the pyramids at The Burren, craggy, myth-infused isles like Skellig Michael, and the country’s biggest colony of Atlantic grey seals at Blacksod Bay. Break up the exhilarating journey by spending the night in a lighthouse (Irish Landmark has several rentals) or splash out on Relais & Chateaux’s Sheen Falls Lodge in Kenmare Bay.
Average temperature in September: 17°C Flight time: 2h 40m
Alberta, Canada
Calgary is Canada’s up-and-coming city (Getty)
Did you hear? Calgary is getting cool; traditionally put down as Alberta’s bland business capital, a necessary jumping-off point for visiting the Rockies, now neighbourhoods like Inglewood and Kensington are hubs for craft beer breweries, indie boutiques and experimental art galleries. Get your bearings (and mountain views) from the 191m Calgary Tower, rising above the easily walkable grid layout of the city centre, before soaking up the early-autumn sunshine in Prince’s Island Park and cluing up on First Nations history at the Glenbow Museum.
The brand-new Residence Inn Calgary (rooms from £82 per night) is a handy downtown base, nodding to Calgary’s country-western heritage with its cowboy boot stitching design details. Outside the city, Banff National Park beckons, with its jaw-dropping glacial lakes-meet-mountains views and endless forest hiking trails; in September, it’s still plenty mild enough to kayak on Lake Louise and catch the larch trees’ leaves turning a bright golden yellow.
Average temperature in September: 16°C Flight time: 11h

No trip is complete without trying the traditional food of the place you visited. So, Corfu Island can also offer some of the best dishes at best and elegant places. Most of the restaurants in Corfu town operate throughout the year not only at countryside but at coastal area as well. Keep in mind that, the timings can differ especially in winter and some of them operate from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon only because these are peak days. In some of the Greek restaurants you will observe that they don’t serve starters, as both starters and main dishes arrive together at the same time so that it can be shared and passed to each other. Well here are few ideas that you must consider renting a boat, visiting Corfu town, going for an olive oil tour, learning about honey production and bees, sipping cocktails, visiting monastery, swimming, mountain biking, enjoying decent meal and much more. One of the best thing that you will enjoy if visiting Corfu is having rental property is not so daunting. But, at the same time due to availability of so many options things become bit difficult because all the rentals are breathtaking and at that time choosing one become deadly tough. While on other hand, the security system will work 24*7 hours which means if you are having something valuable in your luggage then there is no need to worry about. Corfu is a place for number of historical places and museums, soyou must visit these famous places. Achilleion palace is one which is basically a royal home built for Austrians, but now it is open for commoners and believe this place is really gorgeous. Drastis Cape is yet another place which you cannot afford to miss, it look really good in summers and is loacted in most northerly part of Corfu. Not only this, your trip will not be considered complete until and unless you will visit Kerkira which is old town of Corfu. Along with all these, many other things are there to do in island of Corfu, Greece. But, before you get down atGreek airport make sure that you have booked a good rental property to enjoy.

Book Geinberg Hotel to Enjoy Your Holidays with Family
If you choose Geinberg for your family vacation, then you will be taking one of the best decisions in the interest of your spouse and kids. Although this tourist destination is a small and solitary region in Austria, it abounds with natural beauty and landscapes. The favorable climatic condition further adds elegance to this destination. For your and your family accommodation, you can book Geinberg hotels. They are equipped with all the modern facilities and amenities to make you feel easy and stress-free.
There are some pitfalls associated with Austrian hotels. During the peak season of vacationing, they become overcrowded with tourists. As a result, it becomes difficult to enjoy summer vacation along with family members. Under this condition, you cannot expect more space and privacy for your family. Moreover, the charges of hotels also go up. Then, the question that arises is: what to do to combat this problem? Well, there are vacation home rentals that you can rent for your family vacation. They are always available for the accommodation of tourists for all budgets. In addition to easy affordability, there are many advantages of hiring these rentals.
