What does Aurore think of a female MC? Particularly in terms of them being in charge of their household, having freedom, being able to do “unladylike” things like wearing masculine clothing & fencing.
At the very least, she feels respect and some measure of envy. She craves the same kind of freedom. Not necessarily wearing masculine clothes or fencing (although if she ever tries she might find a taste for it, who knows), but having no man to answer to is something she never thought possible and a female Gonzague proves her wrong. It could almost convince her to condone murder…
And depending on that Gonzague’s behavior and actions, she also finds that particularly attractive. Because of her experiences with her father, she’s very wary of men and a female Gonzague might have an easier time romancing her.

Some @gonzague-if art of Aurore and Nevers early in their courtship. The original novel never gave much information about their first meeting, except that Nevers had a castle or estate near Tarrides 🤔
Considering how earnest and friendly Nevers is portrayed in the game, it's easy to see how he winds up charming someone as reserved and cautious as Aurore. Also, Nevers is confirmed to be drawn to clever people, and Aurore is very well read and educated despite being raised in such a secluded environment. I could easily picture their romance playing out like something out of a storybook. It's such a shame it doesn't have a happy ending for the both of them 😢.

Lagardère.

Casting : Bruno Wolkowitch, Yvon Back, Clio Baran, Christian Hecq, Frédéric van den Driessche, Florence Pernel, Jacques Frantz, Ticky Holgado, Priscilla Bescond, Julien Guiomar, Isabelle Caubère, Pierre Gérard, Florence Muller

Aurore is the daughter of the Marquis de Caylus and the woman Gonzague plans to marry in order to acquire his fortune. The young lady is proud and silent, making it hard to gauge her feelings about the Prince at any given time.
Not much is known of her personnality. The Marquis keeps her locked in his castle and she seems to have developped a reserved nature. She does not open up easily.

Some more Vampire au fanart of my @gonzague-if MC Médée developing a Carmilla inspired fixation on Aurore.
Lbr every so often Médée needs to lay low to avoid being investigated for suspicious dissaperances, or when her close personal friend's like Nevers suddenly fall ill with a mystrious ailment that drains their vitality. So she quickly packs up her valubles, and flees with Peyrolls to the country side with new alias for both of them.
The Marquis de Caylus' home is ominous and dreary, a perfect spot for an aristocratic vampire to lay low by pretending to be a noblewoman of delicate health, seeking shelter after narrowly escaping brigands from the local moutain pass (a resonable explanation for why the carraige has so much blood stains, and the coach man is so pale and skiddish). Espically since the Marquis two wives died so tragiclly young, it wouldn't be surprising for the locals to start spotting a woman in bloody clothes seemingly haunting the grounds at night. Aurore for the most part has mixed feelings about her new guests. While for the most part she enjoys spending time with Médée she's charming, fashionable, well travled and educated, although she has an odd habit of speaking about certian historical events and figures as if she was personally there. Still there is something both magnetic and terrifying about her new guest. Particulary since Médée seems intrested in forming an "intimate" friendship with Aurore, and while Aurore might be intruged by a possible friendship, she has her own secrets.
Meanwhile Aurore's father is slowly lossing his mind plauged by strange dreams. The Marquis does not normally consider himself a superstitious man but if he didn't know any better he'd swear the vengful spirt of his first wife was visiting his chambers every night to torment him. How tragic for the Marquis start to loseing his sense in his old age.

I think I must be horribly misunderstanding something, because as far as I can tell, Nevers never did anything bad, but is made out to be a horrible person. I get that the MC can't marry Aurore as long as Nevers is around, but was Nevers even *aware* that the MC was arranged to marry Aurore? I'm sure there are reasons Nevers didn't want the marriage to be public. I don't get the impression of any sort of betrayal whatsoever.
Hi! So the thing is, yes Nevers is aware that MC is trying to get married to Aurore. Depending on how your conversation with him goes down, it can be mentioned. He was already married to her before MC started courting her.
It can feel like a betrayal because he should have warned MC. It’ll especially feel bad to a MC who has caught feelings for Nevers or Aurore.
That being said, yes, you’re right, there’s probably reasons for him to keep the marriage secret…

i just played both demos of gonzague and i was wondering if there’s any way to actually kiss peyrolles at the end, or if it’s inevitable that they pull back ( ╥ω╥ ) i tried both resisting and giving into gonzague’s worst instincts and nothing changed, so i was curious if there was something i was missing if it is possible.
on that note, does it negatively affect peyrolle’s route if gonzague gives into their worst instincts? what about if they refuse to read aurore’s letter, get angry after reading aurore’s letter, or lose their temper after reading the blackmail letter? i don’t want to negatively affect peyrolles’ route but i love the scene where they bandage up gonzague’s hands ( ̄▽ ̄*)ゞ
i was also wondering if peyrolles is amab? i understand if you don’t want to answer that or my previous questions in order to prevent spoilers, though! so, here are my other, (probably) not spoiler-tempting questions:
- do chartres and peyrolles like kids? matter of fact, do aurore and nevers? i would assume so, since they have one, but liking kids typically isn’t a requirement to have them so it’s still a question worth asking i’d say. what would they all do if they had to interact with a child (whether they like kids or not)? peyrolles, to me anyway, seems like they could be either very intimidated by children or very good with them, and chartres seems like he’d get bullied by children.
- in a modern setting, what do you think aurore, chartres, nevers, and peyrolles’ jobs would be? what about gonzague?
- in a modern setting, how would they all meet?
- what are all of their hobbies in canon? what would their hobbies be in the modern world?
i really love gonzague, and i don’t know the original series (i didn’t realise it was actually based on and not just inspired by a novel until i was scrolling through this tumblr) but you’ve really made it your own! i hope you have a good day and best of luck (⌒▽⌒)♡
(p.s. is the gonzague from the novels the real phillipe de gonzague, or did he also murder his brother like your gonzague did? i’m not finding a lot about the plot online, so i can’t really tell.)
Hi anon! That's a lot of questions you got there! Thank you so much for your interest. <3
I'll answer them under the cut to avoid the post to get too long.
First of all, in the current demo you can't kiss Peyrolles regardless of your choices, the near-kiss is all you're going to get for now! Their romance will need to progress a bit before any real kiss happens.
Peyrolles is the one character whose romance is not too affected by your choices of giving in or resisting to your worst instincts. They're accepting of most MCs and only how you treat them personally will affect your relationship with them. None of the choices in the demo so far will prevent you to romance them.
Peyrolles is amab, yes. Gonzague knows it, so I figure I might as well confirm it. They pass as a man for the rest of society (at the moment anyway), few people know they don't identify as a man and Gonzague is one of those few.
Actually, Chartres has already 2 daughters by 1699, when the story starts, you'll see them in the next chapter! But he's actually pretty good with kids and gets along very well with his eldest daughter. Peyrolles has been around some children in their past, but they were never very comfortable with them. They prefer avoiding them as much as possible. Not that they don't like them, they just don't know how to interact with them. Nevers loves kids and enjoys playing with them. He definitely has some 'fun uncle' vibes lol. I think he would be a pretty good father, not a perfect one (who is?), but he'd do his very best. Aurore doesn't really know what to think of children and hasn't been around any until her daughter was born. She's got a lot of mixed feelings about the whole thing that we'll explore later. But I can tell you she's terrified of being a bad mother.
It's hard to envision those characters in a modern setting, their lives and characters are very much shaped by the world they live in. I don't know how they would meet but I can take a guess at what jobs they would have. Peyrolles is not very artistic in their original setting but that's mostly because it was an interest that was inaccessible to them in their youth. So I think in a modern setting they would at least try their hand at being some sort of artist. Maybe an independant movie maker. Chartres, being the rich, aristocratic brat he is would likely have access to high diplomatic or political positions. That he probably would try his hand at for a little bit before dropping it all and trying something else. Maybe influencer lol. Nevers I could picture as a professional athlete. Maybe even a fencer lol. For Aurore, the possibilities would multiply in a modern setting, so much so that she would probably feel a bit overwhelmed by it. Considering her interest in reading, I feel like she would lean towards something academic, but also something that allows her to get out and be active. Maybe archaeologist?
In the current setting, some of their hobbies are: Nevers: fencing, obviously Chartres: partying lol, drawing, playing music and composing Peyrolles: playing with knives <3, people watching Aurore: reading, learning I don't think their hobbies would be that different in a modern setting.
In the original book, Gonzague is the real Philippe de Gonzague, yes, there aren't any stories about a brother, it's an addition of mine. I added this backstory both to humanize the character and allow the player to choose their gender.
Once again, thank you for your questions. <3

hunger or dressed with aurore?
Thank you! <3
I went with  dressed .   help  my  muse  put  on  an  article  of  clothing .
You were upset, holding the letter with trembling fingers. They curled of their own volition, crinkling the paper, and you watched it collapse onto itself in a tight, irregular ball. You chucked it into the fireplace and stared as the embers came to life, flames licking and then devouring the fuel you offered them.
You needed to do something, find Peyrolles, get out, anything. But first, you needed to dress yourself.
You grabbed the skirt of your nightshirt, shaky hands clenching around the fabric as you pulled the item of clothing over your head. Striding naked across the bedroom, you flung your wardrobe’s doors open. You took a clean chemise out of it and struggled to find the sleeves as you wrestled it on. Angrily stepping into a petticoat, you tied it around your waist before looking for front-lacing stays. You passed your arms under the straps and wrapped the garment around your torso in rash, impatient movements.
Your clumsy fingers struggled to pass the ribbon into the eyelets and you watched them quake harder and harder with growing frustration. You had done this hundreds of times. It was an easy task. Why could you not achieve something as simple as lacing your own stays? Your vision blurred as you kept trying and trying. But now you could not see what you were doing anymore and your breath was short and uneven and you were all but useless.
“Fuck!” You let yourself blurt out.
You quickly came to regret it when you heard movement stir the bedsheets. You whipped around and through your tears, you saw the fuzzy silhouette of Aurore slowly sitting up and stepping out of bed. You turned back around, hoping she would not notice the state you were in.
“I am alright, you can go back to bed,” you assured her but your wavering voice told a different story.
She likely did not believe you and you heard her bare feet stride closer, the wooden floors whining under each weighted step. You wiped your eyes with the heels of your hands and tried to lace your stays again, hoping you could get it done before she arrived. It was foolish, you knew, but you felt ashamed. Ashamed that you could not manage to live a normal life and complete the simplest of chores.
When you felt soft hands resting on your waist, you jumped, a hiccup too reminiscing of a sob rising from your throat.
“Let me,” you heard Aurore’s deep voice whisper behind you, her warm breath making your hair flutter.
You let her gently but firmly turn you around. You had no choice but to face her, cheeks wet, unsteady fingers tangled in your laces. She did not look up at you, her brown eyes cast down to your hands. She took them in hers, her skin soft and hot on yours, and she slowly, carefully freed you from the mess you made.
Aurore was quiet as she guided your arms to each of your sides, silent as she started lacing up your stays with deliberate gestures. She reminded you of Peyrolles, in a way, but warmer, a comforting and steadying presence at your side.
You were starting to relax, sighing when you felt her knuckles brush your chest as they made their way up your torso. Once your stays were securely in place, she tucked the ends of the ribbon inside the garment and let her hands rest on your chest, finally looking up at you.
You stared back, drawn in, and you found yourself leaning close. When her lips caught yours, tentative then firm, you thought maybe you could stay in for a little longer after all.

Recently, I saw a bunch of I can fix them memes, and out of curiosity, which of the various LIs fall on the scale of I can fix them, I can make them worse, ect in a relationship with Gonzague?
Ohoho that's a very fun question, thank you!
Peyrolles - They would fall right in the middle, they don't want to change Gonzague, they're perfect as is. <3 (They're really not...)
Aurore - We could fix each other.
Nevers - I could fix them.
Chartres - I could make them worse. (Only because he doesn't know how bad they already are.)
??? - They could make me worse.

Some more @gonzague-if art featuring my Prince Gonzague, Médée, and Aurore de Caylus, in their respective wedding attire with another Medea quote. White wedding dresses didn't become popular with brides until Queen Victoria, and during the time period of the game and original story, Spanish brides traditionally wore black mantilla veils and wedding dresses. So I could easily picture Aurore using her mothers dress for her second marriage.
"Of all creatures that can feel and think, we women are the worst treated things alive. "
-Euripidies, Medea
Poor Aurore honestly deserves so much better, and Médée genuinely feels guilty for being the cause of her wife's pain and grief. They both loved Nevers, and while Médée believes Aurore will never love her back, or ever forgive her if Aurore learns the truth, she does want her to be happy....although I doubt consoling your grieving wife after confessing you were also in love with her first husband is the best start to a "happy" marriage.

I'm sorry, i do not speak english well. From what I understand, they thought that Gonzague wasn't going to be able to get very far with his marriage proposal because of Aurore's father? So when Gonzague convinced her father, the situation was too complicated to do anything so they waited until everything collapsed(?)
How did Gonzague convince Aurore's father? Will he have a role in the story? His daughter had a child with Nevers behind his back (surely there is a hatred between the two families). If such a scandal comes to light, who would be viewed negatively in the eyes of society? Gonzague, Aurore, the father or Nevers? 😖
Anyway, I still don't like Nevers. The situation is worse if Gonzague was in love with Aurore... so it will be interesting to read about Henri de Lagardère's perspective. Considering that he is the virtuous hero and Gonzague the villain of the story
It seems to me that Gonzague has enough reasons to feel humiliated for everything they did to him and therefore, to have taken revenge on his supposed friend
Yes, that’s what I’m saying. Aurore’s father is infamously possessive of his daughter and has incredibly harsh expectations of her future spouse. Gonzague convinced him by flattering his ego and thanks to their experience with their own father. Of course their title is a prestigious one which helped a lot.
There isn’t hate between the Caylus and Nevers family. Aurore fears her father’s reaction for various reasons. The first one being he didn’t choose Nevers and he has to have total control over his daughter’s life.
As the situation is, it doesn’t look that bad in the eye of society. The more conservative people might think that Aurore disobeying her father is distasteful. Other will find the situation romantic while some will laugh at her father for what happened. The Marquis de Caylus lives as a recluse at a time where you had to be in Versailles court to be someone and it’s not doing him any favors.
If Aurore were to find herself unmarried with a child, however, she’d be ruined. This is a patriarchal society where women own pretty much nothing.
As a final note, you don’t have to like Nevers, that’s absolutely fine! I’m simply explaining the character’s motivations as best I can without spoiling anything.
The story is from the pov of Gonzague and they can feel intensely betrayed about the whole thing, for good reasons. Otherwise, them deciding to kill Nevers wouldn’t feel understandable at all, would it?
That being said, this is just the first chapter of the story, there’s still a lot to discover throughout the game.

💌 for my girl Aurore pls
Thanks for thinking of her! <3
💌 : How would they plan a romantic evening for a significant other?
It's another thing she wouldn't be too sure how to go about, nor would she think of doing it spontaneously. Her idea of romance is more about being able to sit together quietly and be comfortable with each other.
If she were to plan a romantic evening, she would do something at home, have her partner's favorite food prepared and partake in one of her or their interests. Maybe painting together or playing music together, something like that.
Something very chill, low stress, low expectations.
