Not to immediately throw angst at Wels as soon as he rejoined but. Fear.... What if Wels is scared to go back to sleep again after this? I mean, he fell asleep and missed 3 months of season seven. So maybe he's scared that if he falls asleep again he might not wake up for a long time (or at all)?

Insomia!Wels!

Concept: He ends up working with Bdubs for whatever reason (they seem to both enjoy fantasy villages?) and Bdubs starts doing his sleep routine. Bdubs notices Wels never really tries to sleep and asks what that's all about.

Wels says 'oh, well everyone (usually you) always skips night so fast I never really get the chance.' Bdubs gets suspicious because Wels is really bad at lying.

Bdubs says 'that's a horrible lie' and asks for the real reason. Wels says the real reason and Bdubs tells him he'll wake Wels up afterwards. You can't just go without sleep for weeks.

Wels voices his inital concern, 'what if you can't wake me up?' Ect ect but Bdubs assures him it's fine.

Anyway, they both sleep. (Next to each other or 5 feet apart because they're not gay, reader's choice.) And now we get another branching path: Can Bdubs wake Wels up?

IF: Yes then Wels realises there's nothing to be scared if anymore but still wants to sleep near Bdubs because he trusts him to wake him up.

Else IF: No then Bdubs tries his best to wake up Wels, (shakes him, pours water on him, punches him in the tummy, ect.) and can't. He feels guilty and calls Doc for help. Something something, I dunno.
