My academic struggles were a long, frustrating journey marked by countless hours of ineffective studying. I felt like a failure, convinced my intelligence was lacking. However, discovering my auditory learning style was a turning point. This realization wasn't just about identifying a learning preference; it was about actively addressing a significant obstacle to my academic success. By embracing auditory learning methods – podcasts, lectures, and self-recorded notes – I transformed my approach to learning, converting frustration into understanding and achievement. My purpose now is to continue leveraging this understanding to maximize my learning potential and achieve my academic goals.

LEARNING STYLE THAT CONNECTS ME

I connect with Auditory as my learning styles because it thrive in environments where I can actively listen and engage with spoken language. I excel at lectures, discussions, and presentations, finding it easier to grasp complex concepts when they are explained verbally. The act of hearing information triggers a deeper level of understanding and retention compared to visual methods like reading or watching videos. I often find myself muttering information under their breath or reciting facts to myself, demonstrating a reliance on auditory repetition to solidify my knowledge.

One of my key strengths of auditory learners lies in my ability to process information actively. I often engage in internal dialogue, replaying lectures or conversations in my minds to analyze and synthesize the information. This internal processing fosters a deeper understanding, allowing myself to connect ideas and build comprehensive knowledge. Moreover, auditory learners excel at utilizing mnemonics, such as rhymes, songs, or acronyms, to encode information in a memorable format. These auditory cues provide a framework for recalling information, making learning more engaging and effective.

Practice soft dynamics by playing softer than a hum. Engage #auditorylearning by asking children to hum the soft parts. Then ask them to play the soft parts softer than a hum. Follow up by asking, “#howdidyoudothat ?” They will usually notice that they used less bow. Directly asking children to “use less bow” or “exaggerate the dynamics” often doesn’t work for #younglearners This humming activity gives them a way to discover the technique of using less bow on their own, through the senses rather than by following a direct instruction. I find this activity to be very effective in both #privatelesson and #suzukigroup class settings. For children struggling with humming at the right time, the teacher or parent may sing or play the loud parts and stop when it’s time for the child to hum. Children who are listening to the reference recording many times per day will have no trouble with this. This will work with any #musicalinstrument The answer to #howdidyoudoit ?
