The Parent Trap au

Billy and Jason are twins who were adopted by newlyweds, Jim and Joyce Hopper, when they were a year old, but were then separated when their parents got divorced. Each one taking a brother. Billy went with their dad to California while Jason stayed with their mom in Hawkins.

16 years later they meet again at a summer camp for teens who are interested in pursuing a career in sports. Billy with basketball and Jason with football.

As soon as they meet it fight-at-first sight after Jason accidentally pushes Billy into a trough of water during fencing on the second day of camp and the next night Jason has to jump into the cold lake naked after losing a bet to Billy during a game of poker.

Things escalate so much that after nearly landing the camp directors in the hospital during a prank gone horribly wrong involving shaving cream and honey, they are sent to the Isolation Cabin where they are forced to get over the hostility of each other.

Having to spend all their time together they start to notice how similar they are beside sharing the same face. From having the same birthday to liking the same bands to their share taste in cars.

They each even have half a picture of their other parent who they put together and learn they are twins.

After the brother are reunited they start talking about how their life has been so far.

Billy tells Jason about living in California with their Dad who is the sheriff of their town and his two adopted sisters.

Jane, who prefers to go by Eleven, and Max and how they are “the toughest twelve years old you're ever going to meet.”

He talks about El and her soap operas as well as her weird obsession with Eggos and Max with her skateboarding and Billy teaching her how to drive in a parking lot.

In turn, Jason talks about their mom Joyce who got remarry and had two sons, Jonathan and Will, with her now ex Lonnie. 

He tells Billy how Joyce was always telling him that she loves him just as much as she loves Jonathan and Will even though he isn’t her son by birth.

He also talks about Jonathan and his photography and Will and his love of drawing.

“You're going to love Will.”

Jason then brings out pictures that Jonathan has taken.

Some of them are of Jason and Will with their Mom others are of Will with a group of boys playing a board game.

“They call themselves The Party”

“The Party of what?”

“I have no idea.”

A few shows Will with Mike and Lucas dress as characters from Star Wars for Halloween, Will as Luke Skywalker, Mike as Han Solo and Lucas as Lando Calrissian. 

Some pictures show Jason playing football and a couple is of Jonathan with his girlfriend Nancy who is the older sister of Mike.

Billy then notices a picture of a guy who looks to be around their age wearing a pair of Rayban sunglasses who standing next to the curly hair kid he learns was called Dustin.

“Hey, Jason whose this Pretty Boy?”

“Oh that's Steve, we've been best friends since kindergarten.”

Jason then notices that the way Billy was staring at the picture of Steve was the same way Jonathan would always stare at Nancy at school before he finally got the courage to talk to her.

With both of them wanting to meet their other parent they come up with the plan to switch places and since sooner or later in other for them to be unswitch their parents will be forced to meet face to face.

“Okay, I'm ready...Don't shut YOUR eyes!”

“Okay, sorry. Got a little nervous!”

“YOU'RE nervous? A 17-year-old guy is cutting my hair!”

“Hey, you sounded just like me.”

“Well, I'm supposed to, aren't I? Go on, just do it.”

”This is so weird.”

“Dude, you never looked better.”

“Oh no.”

“What?”

“I have a pierced ear.”

“No. No. No and no, not happening. Sorry, wrong number, I won't. I refuse.”

“Then you cutting my hair was a total waste. There's no way I can go to camp with a pierced ear and come home without it. I mean, come on. Get real.”

nothing like concrete but i really dig billy being a literature nerd and having beach boys or abba tapes tucked away from his mom and i really like steve having the worlds worst anxiety and him and robin having this weird sorta friendship where theyre really tactile? and idk i think steve would get along with each of the kids in different ways and i love joyce pseudo-adopting steve and billy? same with hopper but its different vibes
