Feeling quite a bit nostalgic about my old Atraxa, Praetors' Voice commander deck, which I gutted for parts for Ixhel by the time ONE came around. I never piloted a post-ONE Atraxa, which feels like a shame now, as the set changed so much about how infect is played.
Maybe I should build a post-ONE Atraxa list.

Hey! Do you like Magic the Gathering? Do you like the Phyrexians but hate the ending they were given in March of the Machine? Have you ever wanted to see a four-armed angel get into a psychosexual love/hate relationship with a 1920s boxer? That last one's really specific but you're in luck regardless!
Steel and Oil is an in-progress, multi-chapter fanfiction following Atraxa, Praetor's Voice, as she recuperates after the fall of the multi-planar Phyrexian invasion, with the help of New Capennan citizen Jaxis. Watch as Atraxa is forced to navigate independence and social interactions, and as she starts to gain new perspective on the past events of her life! Steel and Oil features legendary characters from all across New Capenna and New Phyrexia. Give it a read!

Got the urge to build an Atraxa, Praetors' Voice commander deck. That is the devil calling.

If or When; a Partner keyword variant where only one of the 2 commanders need to have the ability like Doctor's Companion but without the Doctor restriction. I.E. a red Partner that can pair with Atraxa, Praetors' Voice to make a 5 color deck.
If. I don’t think we want to make more partner without condition, nor want partner to enable five-color decks.

Masterlist of our Decks
Hi! We're @the-many-children-of-the-void and this is a masterlist post of our Magic the Gathering decks. We play most of these online, with our partner system on untap.in. This list will get updated when we remember to do so.
EDH Decks
Allie's Decks
APV-B (Atraxa, Praetor's Voice): Our budget Atraxa deck, runs infect, +1/+1 counters, stun counters and so on. This is the only deck we own a physical copy of (we don't play in-person very often) and it was built by buying Corrupting Influence and taking it apart.
Let It Go (Hylda of the Icy Crown): It's a deck that's all about tapping your opponent's creatures. It isn't very optimized yet but Allie is slowly getting there.
Broken Human (Surrak Dragonclaw): Our "fuck you" to when our partner system plays control. It was also the deck where we had a major breakthrough in deckbuilding philosophy.
Atraxa, Uncorrupted (Atraxa, Praetor's Voice): A return to our roots, re-building the oldest deck concept we ever had, an Atraxa deck without any fancy poison or stun counter shenanigans.
Annie's Decks
Annie's Project (Lathril, Blade of the Elves): It's an elf token deck. That's kinda all there is to say.
Erica's Decks
Echo (Aesi, Tyrant of the Gyre Strait): Landfall deck with lots of ramp and card draw. Usually able to get just an obscene number of lands on the battlefield.
Harbinger (Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker): Shadowborne Apostles deck with big fancy demons. We haven't had a chance to test this one yet.
Kate's Decks
Cantre'r Gwaelod (Niv-Mizzet, Parun): Card draw burn deck, pretty much. The goal is to draw as many cards as possible and slowly burn away your opponent's life.
Neiko di Angelo's Decks
Holiday // Boulevard of Broken Dreams (Marrow-Gnawer): Rat colony deck, very heavily based on Violet's deck from Game Knights #63
Lazarus (Phenax, God of Deception): Mill deck in Neiko's two favorite colors. Not much else to report back about this one.
Calvin (Gishath, Sun's Avatar): Dinosaur tribal deck. Our partner system doesn't really have a concept of "low power play" so this deck doesn't really get played but it is one Neiko is happy with.
Antithesis (Zhulodok, Void Gorger) Eldrazi, baby. I have no idea how well it works.
That's all for now.

💭 for Blood and Songbirds?
Fanfic Ask Game (The Movie, The Sequel)
💭 What is a headcanon you have about your own work?
Perrie is constantly wondering what the hell is wrong with Spara's extraplanar kids (Tibalt, Ritter, Jaren, and Mathias). I mentioned that once (in chapter 34) but it's becoming a more consistent question as Blood and Songbirds continues.
Another is that Atraxa is just overstimulated all the time. Imagine having four (potentially five if Urabrask is included) praetor voices in your heads so you can be summoned at any moment by any of them to any of several realms in New Phyrexia. Now that Praetor Elizabeth has replaced the new oil with the old oil and everything is quiet, Atraxa has to deal with the terrifying concepts of character development, character growth, and individuality.

Atraxa, do you regret fighting against Phyrexia, seeing how that's what got you your position as praetors' voice and everything?
Also, was it awkward meeting people you had previously tried to fight and kill after you were converted to their side?
I look back at my previous shortsightedness with disappointment, but I know it was not possible for me to be better. Not while I was chained to my flesh and the survival of the feeble Mirrans, who could not even unify themselves sufficiently to protect their city without my help. The Mother, in her generosity, saw the potential in me.
I could hardly call those meetings more awkward than sad. The pitiable creatures continue to scurry through their small lives unaware of our blessing, appalled at my transformation as if I am the one to be pitied. It is the least I can do to bring them what Norn gave me.

Addendum post fall 3
@delta-hexagon @littjara-compleated-sage
@yellingaboutmasseffect
Melira was talking to some of the remaining refugees, former Stolen Phyrexians and Sleeper Agents, when the com device Jazal had given her went off.
"Miss Melira?"
She excused herself and tapped the glowing green button on the front,
"Yes?"
"Hello. My name is Watcher, the computerised overseer of Sanctuary. I have a message from mr. Urabrask. "Emergency'."
"What?" she whispered.
"He fell unconscious moments later; his vitals are high and his body temperature is far above normal ranges. In addition, I've located an Infected Phyrexian individual moving towards Mr.Urabrask's chambers. Would you like me to close off that wing and contact head of security, Alistair?"
"Yes. And keep track of the individual's location and Urabrask's condition, please?" She said, starting to run.
"Of course. Master Jazal has also been made aware and will meet you on route." Watcher said.
Urabrask hung in the air, surrounded by pale golden light above, and oil black storm clouds below. And beneath those waited his Ancestor... Yawgmoth. Or... Something that used to be him anyway.
"... I... I'm barely able to keep my own thoughts steady half the time. I'm attempting to lead a newly evolving people when whatever bravado I had was erased with the Phyrexian. How can you say, my soul is unbreakable when it feels like its always about to shatter?"
The air around him warmed, not in irritation, but almost like someone was embracing him.
"Urabrask," the voice said, "you look before you leap, you think before you speak. You worry about those in your care and those who were like you. Compassion is necessary in great leaders, or they become heartless tyrants." A thunderous roar shook the area, and the voice spoke quickly, "Even when faced with continued set backs, you kept going. You see a future between your people and those of the multiverse. One of peace and advancement. Not one drenched in oil."
Urabrask glanced down, "But what if I can't do this alone?"
"A great leader never does it alone. I sense danger approaching your physical body. You must choose: bow to an ancient nightmare that seeks your enslavement, or be a beacon for your people, guiding them to bright future."
Faces began flashing across Urabrasks inner eye: his friends, Jazal, Melira, Alistair; his people, Ixhel, Armana the angel once known as Atraxa, incompleated partially physicians. Countless more of freed sleeper agents.
The image that knocked him from the decision paralysis was Armana, sleeping beside the quarantine tank where her daughter, Ixhel, slept. Phyrexia would seperate them forever.
Scarlet flames ignited the oil on his skin, and he dove down into the storm, his roar of anger echoing as the flames spread. Down through darkness he dove, feeling skin and scale, flesh and bone morph and expand to encapsulate ever flicker of his fire.
Yawgmoth watched as a massive dragon, wings wider than the storm, scarlet as spilt blood, its yellow eyes glowing emerged. Following its descent, flames consumed the storm and instead of oil, burning rain fell, searing Yawgmoth's pale flesh.
The Phyrexian God cried out, and tried to dive beneath the dark of hot sea.
"You enter my mind and expect me to let you go?" Urabrask shouted.
He breathed out a stream of fire that boiled the sea, setting its surface alight.
Yawgmoth's hand burst through the surface and attempted to knock the dragon from the sky, "You cannot hold me here, wurm!"
The hand, now barely half Urubrak's size, grazed his armored chest, leaving behind glowing marks as the heat inside his body lit oil and flesh on fire.
"I have seen the Praetor's of New Phyrexia, your replacements, laid low. You think ill allow a nightmare from our primordial past steal our future? If I can't kill you here, I will make sure you remember my anger!"
He inhaled, and dress miles worth of air into his lungs before breathing straight down into the dark sea. The force pushed the ichor so far back, the flames scorched the ocean floor. Yawgmoth shrieked in pain as the oil began to glow, a flammable liquid boiled to such high temperatures metal began to melt.
With a wounded cry, Yawgmoth vanished back into wherever the Legacy Weapon had reduced the god to. The black oil receaded with its master and left Urabrask, the massive scarlet dragon, hovering above a sea of crystal clear oil and gleaming gold skies.
"See?" The voice whispered, beside his ear.
"You were right. But I'm not sure how visualizing my soul as a dragon is going to help me when I'm still unconscious." He said.
The voice chuckled, "You'll see. You were looking for something to replace the Glistening Oil, weren't you?"

12, 31, 42, 85 for the mtg prompt!
12. Favorite 2 color combination? either Red/Green or Red/Black, but I definitely like Red/White too...
31. What cards do you wish were never printed? you know, I thought about this for a little while, and nothing really comes to mind. even the cards with effects that annoy me would just make me wish for more ways to deal with them - but just watch me eat these words next time i sit down to play against my friend and his Saheeli EDH deck jam-packed full of Eldrazi. 42. Most annoying mechanic to play against? land destruction, although nobody really plays it much these days. i used to hate infect and mill too back when i first started playing (2011) 85. Tell us about your most epic story involving Magic. so i actually have a really good one recently. a few weeks ago i was playing at my local game store's commander night event. i was playing alesha, who smiles at death, which i've built into warrior tribal and i'm quite proud of it. the other players were atraxa, praetors' voice, (who unfortunately got mana screwed - such is life with 4 color decks sometimes) and rin and seri, who was playing entirely cat tribal, literally raining cats (and dogs) down upon the board. so it came down to an arms race, whether i or the rin and seri player could amass more creatures faster. now, it gets even better. we had both doubling season and parallel lives in play, so the amount of tokens was, quite frankly, disgusting. this is where i was able to recur ponyback brigade with alesha's ability about 3 times and make a veritable army of goblins. at some point, the rin and seri player decided he'd had enough of me, and swung with everything. i was just barely able to block, and lost just about everything except for the goblins, leaving me at 1 (one) life. next turn, i'm up, and well, i would have won anyway no matter how i attacked, but then... i drew this card:
i think i would have gained something upwards of 30 life from that??? not that it mattered since i won anyway. the back and forth nature of that game was really funny, and i think i should've unlocked some kind of achievement by winning with only 1 life left lmao
