49% of these people have never gone through the worst year of their life and barely survived and all that while listening to all things must pass all the time which made their last.fm reports on the end of the year have both the 50th anniversary deluxe version and the 2014 remaster version on top 1 and 2. Each one with more than 5000 scrobbles. These people have never gone through of experiencing run of the mill. Or wah-wah. Sorry this is so serious to me i'm way too autistic about ATMP

"In a way, [Dhani] Harrison’s ultimate test for the album’s success was the sob factor: He says the first time he played the remix of the opening song, 'I’d Have You Anytime,' he lost it. 'I just cried,' he says. 'My mum heard it and she cried. We thought, "OK, this is doing the job." Someone like me, I’m impervious to hearing my dad’s music; I’ve heard it so many times. I have to hear it in business situations and I can’t be sitting there crying every time. But this time I couldn’t prevent it. It was very emotional.'"

“It's being here now that's important. There's no past and there's no future. Time is a very misleading thing. All there is ever, is the now.” - George Harrison

Thinking about how in 1970 George's life was falling apart in almost every way. His mother was dying, his marriage was falling apart, and his band was breaking up. The amount of pain and confusion and loneliness he must have felt.

I wanna say maybe I was over-generalizing a bit. I find them kind of out of place on slower songs like Run of the Mill, corny but sweet the way theyre used on What Is Life and really cool on Let It Down, when they get to be spicy 🌶️ It's more of a mixed bag I guess, though the wall of sound definitely isn't helping.
may i be perfectly frank for a second?
i find a lot of the horns and saxes on ATMP tacky

Can you recommend me some of your favorite Joan, Bob or George songs? I’ve been in need of some new music lately lol
i absolutely can! It got a bit long so i put it under the cut :)
I'm not too familiar with Joan Baez's entire discography, but I really enjoy the album Baez Sings Dylan (I especially love her cover of Don't Think Twice It's Alright and Boots of Spanish Leather!). Also, I've said this before, but I loooove @harisontour's Fruity Joanie playlist <3
As for Bob's stuff, I have a pretty basic taste in his music but I really REALLY love the entirety of Nashville Skyline. Country Pie is apparently my most played song of all time on spotify (normal behaviour) and I reallly love To Be Alone With You. At the moment I'm also really obsessed with the album Highway 61 Revisited!!! ALSO, his live performances from 1975 are transcendental (stream Isis live at Boston Music Hall)
And George. WHERE do I start. I think my favorite album is between Gone Troppo (whence came my URL) and All Things Must Pass, but I also really love the album George Harrison from 1979 (Soft-Hearted Hana is another of my top songs <3). I'd reccommend checking out the ATMP 50th anniversary edition, since it has some lovely gems on it like Cosmic Empire and Going Down to Golders Green.
If you're already familiar with George's discography, I'd also reccommend checking out some of the rarer songs from the late 80s and early 90s like Cockamamie Business, Poor Little Girl, Sat Singing and Lay His Head, most of which aren't on spotify because they haven't been re-released yet but are SO good regardless.
Not to plug my own brand but I actually rated every George album a while back, if you're willing to delve into my insane little slideshow about it <3
Also, the entire Traveling Wilbury's discography is sooo good and I cannot reccommend it enough 🧘‍♀️
Sorry if this got too rambly or off-topic but I hope it helps a little! Good luck in your music travels :))

the first time I heard cosmic empire was when spotify put it in my discover weekly, and I hadn't been paying attention so I didn't know the 50th anniversary edition of atmp had just come out and therefore didn't know to be aware of new george content, so what happened was I heard the first few opening strums, immediately went "... george?" and then heard the vocals start and went "GEORGE!!" because he is somehow so distinctive and I am somehow so insane that I can recognize him in a song I've never heard based 14 seconds of acoustic guitar strums

All Things Must Pass 50th Anniversary release coming in August, 2021, wonderful outtake of “Run of the Mill” featuring multiple guitars and you can finally hear Ringo’s drums. Great article from Rolling Stone, speaking of rarities, on the album and Dhani Harrison’s extensive role, and some memories by Klaus Voormann of the recording sessions (see link below). Barry Feinstein took the photographs of ATMP cover and inner sleeve poster.

George Harrison – All Things Must Pass (Apple Records – STCH 639, 1970 🇺🇸) Lots of excitement about the 50th anniversary reissue of ATMP. I’m glad to just enjoy my original copy. The reissues are fun, but there’s definitely something I prefer about original pressings, warts and all. Plus, they are usually (usually) more affordable. I would - however - like to find a copy of a UK pressing one of these days.

“I think [Friar Park] gave him space. You know, creative space to get away from -- I mean I’ve seen so many pictures of him standing at the door of the house he was living in before he moved here, standing alongside fans, being very generous and somebody knocking on his door taking photographs. There’s SO many pictures of people [laughs], and that didn’t happen here.”

Thoughts on the Grammy Nominations
Today they announced the nominees for the 2022 Grammy Awards, taking place Jan. 31, 2022. As a whole I feel kind of disconnected from most of the music that was nominated this year. I’m a big music geek and I feel much of the nominees didn’t represent this year’s best music. But art is subjective, so what do I know vs. the Grammy not knowing. Here are a few thoughts.
- Chris Cornell scores 2 posthumous nominations
Cornell was nominated for Best Rock Performance for his cover of Nothing Compares 2 U” and Best Rock Album for No One Sings Like You Anymore, Vol. 1. Very well deserved!
- Foo Fighters score 3 nominations
Foo Fighters have won 12 Grammy Awards since their 1995 formation. This year they are nominated for Best Rock Performance for “Making a Fire”, Best Rock Song for “Waiting on a War”, and Best Rock Album for Medicine at Midnight. This is their best album in a long time and I’d be surprised if it didn’t win in at least one of those categories.
- Sir Paul scores 2 nominations
Between The Beatles, Wings, various collaborations and his solo work, Paul McCartney has won 18 Grammy Awards. This year he is nominated for Best Rock Song for “Find My Way” and Best Rock Album for McCartney III, which I named my #6 Album of 2020.
- Mammoth WVH scores his first nomination
Nice to see Wolfgang Van Halen nominated for the first time for Best Rock Song for “Distance”, the highlight of his band Mammoth WVH’s debut album.
- Halsey is alternative rock?
I like that just because Halsey did an album with Trent Reznor producing it is nominated for Best Alternative Album?!?
- Stewart Copeland nominated
Copeland, formerly of The Police as well as an accomplished solo artist and composer, is nominated for Best New Age album for the one he did with Ricky Kej.
- Barack Obama nominated
The 44th President of the United States has been nominated for Best Spoken Word Album, a category he actually won for in 2005 and 2007.
- Trent Reznor nominated again
Trent Reznor has won 2 Grammy Awards for Nine Inch Nails, but this year he is nominated for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media for Soul, which he did with Jon Batiste and Atticus Ross, which won an Oscar earlier this year.
- George Harrison’s All Things Must Pass: 50th Anniversary Edition nominated
The 50th anniversary edition of ATMP is nominated for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package. Congrats to Dhani Harrison, Olivia Harrison and Darren Evans. Fingers crossed the Grammys do the right thing and reward this album now, since they didn’t give it Album of the Year in 1972.
- Prince nominated
Prince’s Sign O’ The Times Super Deluxe Edition, which I named my #4 Best Reissue of 2020, is nominated for Best Historical Album.
- Best Music Film category has stiff competition
There are quite a few that could easily win for Best Music Film. There’s Music, Money, Madness...Jimi Hendrix In Maui, Spike Lee’s David Byrne's American Utopia which I named my #1 Documentary of 2020, and Questlove’s Summer Of Soul which was the best movie I saw at the 2021 IFFBoston.
