🧠 - What do you like most about the OC? - For Mel, Spiridon, and Lea

Spiridon Lavellan:

I actually like how his own convictions of fairness and human potential lead him to being crippled when it comes to stepping on people's toes, and eventually degrade into blanket disappointment in all sapient life, resulting in the loss of carefulness and fear when it comes to destroying in the name of a new spring. He's someone who very much does go from being afraid to save the world, to wanting to save the world, to wanting to watch it burn, to realising that a bit of controlled fire is needed to save the world. And that if he doesn't make a decision, then a decision will be made for him anyway, because time won't wait for him and the world won't stop while he's wringing his hands about the next step.

Lea Surana:

That he's strangely sensitive for someone this tenacious and ruthless. I think compared to Spiridon, he loves the world much more. As long as it makes sense, and under all the 'world is a chaotic place and it makes it beautiful' that he espouses, he actually has a fairly more rigid way of seeing life. And he's so damned determined to navigate it and cut his path through it to get to his goals. But that he's so damn breakable. When he runs out of gas, he doesn't putter to a stop like Spiridon would, he goes supernova instead, like a stellar body. When the world stops making sense to him, it's incredibly sad but fun to see him wage a one man futile war against it all. And he gives it a good fight, too, even if he fails miserably by the end. It's aspirational, almost. Misguided, but there's merit in the sheer work he puts into resisting change while driving change. Weird, complicated dude, a bad marriage of the rigidity of his life in the Circle and the comfort he finds in its routine and rules, and his innate desire to go out there and sow change wherever goes, by whichever means necessary. According to his vision, lying to himself all the time that he's actually totally okay with the uncaring chaos of the universe.

Mel Mossine:

Honestly, the duality of her tyrannical, inexorable personality. She will be Atlas, whether the world needs her to be or not. But at the same time it's so easy to put her in her place, because this is ultimately a child playing at adult, and though physically she might be, even she doesn't think she matured a day past 14. It's relatable and satisfying to watch just how this baby dictator folds like a jackknife when shown even an ounce of parental interest, compassion and structure. In a flash, going from being able and willing to wage war against the gods if need be, to a hand-wringing obedient kid with her head lowered as he takes her scolding. She's... she's got a tendency to bully, but she's the kind of bully who immediately falls in line when someone fights back. It's like she antagonises people almost for attention or interaction, or someone to listen to her, even if in the end she doesn't really want to speak or share about what's really eating her. I like her because I think I've based a lot of her off myself, this insane mix of extreme confidence and also being humbler than dirt. The feeling that due to severe neglect, she stopped mentally aging the day she was forced to become adult (so, early teens). And that the only way she knows to ask for something she needs is through aggression and violence. In the end, she's a competent but neglected child, and it's relatable and cathartic to dissect.

I don't really remember my first ship since I shipped characters before I knew what shipping was and without realizing what I was doing but the first ship I actively searched content for and for which I created content myself were Kyoko Mogami/Ren Tsuruga from Skip Beat! I stopped reading the manga some years ago so I have no idea how their story ends, but my days in the fandom are quite fond memories. <3

so because i have 3 inquisitors each with the mark (together), i’m really wondering what to do regarding the Loss of Arm. It could be a case of they all lose the arm but that feels a little stale, so now im wondering which one has more narrative weight for losing their arm. Originally it was my Trevelyan, but i think one of the lavellans (are’veia, solas’s lover, devotee of elgar’nan who vows to display every aspect of revenge and protection in his sphere to protect her people from The Dread Wolf, or atlas, who saw solas as a father and wanted to redeem him to the end.)
