Ateez's Full Storyline Explained - THE MEMBERS (A-World)

Masterlist

This is fully focused on Ateez from the A-World since we don't yet have much backstory on the Black Pirates' individually. Thus far, even all I could gather on their shared history is largely speculation based on the Thanxx MV.

SIDE-NOTE: The majority of their backstory is easily found in their Diary Film which was released prior to the Inception MV. But for further details, look to the Fever Part 1 Diary Entries.

HONGJOONG

BACKSTORY

He comes from a troubled or at least not particularly close-knit family - they all moved away as he grew up, splitting up across the world and leaving him behind

When he was younger, before he met Ateez, he didn't have a dream and struggled to see the worth in life - he tried to please his parents with his grades but otherwise felt trapped in a pointless routine

After meeting Ateez and bonding over a shared love for music and performing, he finally got a dream: to become a star and be seen by his family so he can reunite them

But until then, he sees his fellow Ateez members as his main family

Him, Seonghwa and Yunho seem to have known each other the longest and were regularly performing in the streets as a trio

ROLE IN Z-WORLD (FEVER/TREASURE/THE WORLD SERIES):

He naturally took on the role as Captain since he was the first in their hideout and brought the rest of them together; additionally, he was also the one to be handed the Cromer by his alternate self

This role was likely also strengthened by Yunho who's been with him the longest alongside Seonghwa, and sees hints of his dead older brother in Hongjoong and thus tends to look to him for advice

In addition to his position as Captain, he'll also fulfill whichever other role is needed for their missions just like the rest of his crew

Frequently displayed character traits: passion, character strength, leadership, cleverness, caution, intuitivity, loyalty, bravery

CURRENT ROLE (AFTER 3 YEAR TIME SKIP):

He's lonely, missing his members who drifted apart after their permanent return to A-World

In order to ensure he won't forget their adventures, even as time keeps passing, he documented their shared journey on a blog which blew up in popularity, leading him to turn his entries into a full blwon novel

Now, he's got it all: a best-selling book, a family who returned to him, fame, but alone in his room at night, he still feels empty

SEONGHWA

BACKSTORY

His outlook on music was permanently altered when he witnessed a girl with a 'Be Free' bracelet dance

He was part of the original Ateez trio alongside Yunho and Hongjoong

ROLE IN Z-WORLD (FEVER/TREASURE/THE WORLD SERIES):

His unique connection to the 'Be Free' girl transcends realities and has allowed the fusion of the currently two biggest known revolutionary groups in the Z-World (see: Will - The World Ep. Fin Diary Entries)

As a result, I would describe his current role as a mediator between Ateez/The Black Pirates and Thunder since he's so far been the most willing to extend good faith toward Thunder and learn about their backstory

Previously, like most other members, he simply took on whichever role was needed for the current mission

Frequently displayed character traits: intuitivity, kindness, trust, loyalty

CURRENT ROLE (AFTER 3 YEAR TIME SKIP):

After struggling majorly with anxiety and trying to cope with the trauma the Z-World inflicted on them, Seonghwa threw himself into his studies and later became a firefighter

There are fulfilling elements to saving people in this way, but he still can't forget their shared dream of making it in the music scene

He has yet to read Hongjoong's book, having kept it on his desk since it came out

YUNHO

BACKSTORY

His older brother died in a car accident after giving up his dream of becoming a musician

As means of fulfilling his brother's dream post-mortem, Yunho wants to work alongside Ateez and establish a successful music career

Yunho admires Hongjoong as a person and artist but also feels he resembles his older brother which surely influenced how he originally viewed Hongjoong and why he's always looked to him for guidance

He, alongside Seonghwa, has also known Hongjoong the longest and used to be a street performer trio with them

Prior to his brother's accident, he spent a lot of time riding around on his motorcycle with a separate friend group

ROLE IN Z-WORLD (FEVER/TREASURE/THE WORLD SERIES):

He was the first to establish an emotional bond with Left-Eye, who is still one of their first and closest allies, when they bonded over their shared loss of a loved one and lingering survivors guilt (see: Fever Part 3 Diary Entries)

Other than that, he'll fulfill any role needed, such as utilizing his established ability to operate a motorcycle and whatever else is needed (though it does seem like all of Ateez have learned to drive pretty much any street vehicle since they've arrived in the Z-World)

Frequently displayed character traits: honesty, empathy, loyalty, bravery

CURRENT ROLE (AFTER 3 YEAR TIME SKIP):

He became disillusioned with their world, recognizing it as colder than the Z-World - people don't care about each other, just about themselves

After the situation with Ateez fell apart, he threw himself into archaeology, hoping to find another artifact like the Cromer which could reunite them for another adventure

YEOSANG

BACKSTORY:

He comes from a very strict household

His parents, especially his father, had already planned out his entire life and filled his days to the brim with schedules, such as violin practice

As a result, he felt trapped his entire life (like a caged bird) to the point where he compared his upbringing to Strictland upon first arriving in the Z-World (see: Fever Part 2 Diary Entries)

His only escape was studying the inner workings of machines which is how he taught himself the basics of engineering and robotics

He was the last to join Ateez and got in by building them a drone upon their request

ROLE IN Z-WORLD (FEVER/TREASURE/THE WORLD SERIES):

He's in charge of controlling the surveillance butterflies seen in Will - The World Ep. Fin Diary Entries which tells me he's still their main tech-guy

This role is also highlighted in Guerrilla when we see him inside the surveillance van

Frequently displayed character traits: self-blame/guilt, self-sacrifice, loyalty, quick thinking, bravery

CURRENT ROLE (AFTER 3 YEAR TIME SKIP):

Yeosang recognized money as the biggest obstacle between Ateez and achieving their dream so he decided to tackle the problem head on

Reinventing himself, he became a leader of the investment world - profit in mind but also investing in the arts on the side, even if that meant losing money

He's the one who invested in Hongjoong's authorial debut

SAN

BACKSTORY:

He was forced to move around a lot growing up which left him lonely and isolated

Ateez were his first real friends and he was desperate to stay with them, even when his family already planned the next move

His strong longing for a fixed friend group carry into his current behavior and reflect in his emotional reactions to certain situations, i.e. his immense devastation when they first lost Yeosang, his outrage when he found out Android Guardians burn prisoners' treasured memories

ROLE IN Z-WORLD (FEVER/TREASURE/THE WORLD SERIES):

He has no set primary role, so he'll also simply execute whatever part of the mission is assigned to him, such as playing the decoy (see: Guerrilla)

Frequently displayed character traits: strong sense of justice, bravery, loyalty, empathy, sensitivity

CURRENT ROLE (AFTER 3 YEAR TIME SKIP):

San started his own business after Ateez drifted apart, a food truck, and ended up in Jeju where he got to meet a lot of people as he prepared their food and watched them eat with their loved ones

Through their shared conversations, he quickly learned most never got to live out their dreams and wondered if it was time for him to accept his fate may be sharing the same fate

MINGI

BACKSTORY:

He grew up in poverty and with no family left except his grandmother

He's been suicidal since he was young which led to him building up walls that keep others from getting too close

However, he's known Wooyoung since elementary school and Wooyoung's persistence eventually wore Mingi down and they got closer

Since then, Wooyoung was the only one who could make Mingi laugh

Wooyoung was also the one who introduced Mingo to the rest of Ateez (i.e. Hongjoong, Seonghwa and Yunho)

Once all of Ateez had been established, Mingi's grandmother got into some kind of accident which made Mingi relapse and shut down since he felt like he wasn't allowed to be happy while his grandmother was so close to death

His resulting decision to fully depart from Ateez had him call their dreams meaningless, upon which Jongho became enraged enough to lash out and punch him but Yunho intervened before it could escalate further than that one punch

His mental well-being was brought up again when he overheard Left-Eye talk to the Grimes siblings about their lingering hope to fix the state of the Z-World because it led him to realize how powerful dancing could be and how much he'd been letting the past affect the way he sees the world (see: Fever Part 3 Diary Entries)

ROLE IN Z-WORLD (FEVER/TREASURE/THE WORLD SERIES):

He has no designated role, but did recently team up with childhood friend Wooyoung to go undercover as security guards at Prestige Academy during their mission (see: Outlaw - The World Ep. 2 Diary Entries)

He unfortunately also got traumatized during another mission when the Prestige Academy boy's brother died right in front of him and he was left to take out a bunch of Android Guardians by himself without time to process what he'd just witnessed (see: Will - The World Ep. Fin Diary Entries)

Frequently displayed character traits: bravery, quick thinking, empathy

CURRENT ROLE (AFTER 3 YEAR TIME SKIP):

Despite coming from a broken home, Mingi made it big, becoming a professional model for a fashion magazine working with high-end designers

His social media was flooded with adoring comments, his influence far reaching, but he still couldn't help but get captivated by a group of boys busking on the side of the road

When he tried to distract himself from the memories, he came across a video of Hongjoong reuniting with his family

WOOYOUNG

BACKSTORY:

He grew up alongside Mingi and wormed his way into Mingi's life despite the strong walls Mingi had put up

Whenever he feels shy, he'll laugh it off and when he's scared, he'll keep talking until it wears off

He doesn't mind being teased for his habits

He had a strong desire to be a performer but was dealing with intense stage fright until he met Hongjoong, Seonghwa and Yunho at a street performance and they took him under his wing and helped him overcome his fear

Once he became a member, he introduced Mingi who proceeded to join the group as well

ROLE IN Z-WORLD (FEVER/TREASURE/THE WORLD SERIES):

He has no set role but the injury he sustained during the first Android Guardian raid they experienced in the Z-World (see: Fever Part 2 Diary Entries), did lead them to finding out about Left Eye's existence and connect with the Grimes siblings who were then the catalyst behind the establishment of Thunder (see: Will - The World Ep. Fin Diary Entries)

Frequently displayed character traits: nosiness/curiosity, playfulness, quick thinking, bravery, loyalty

CURRENT ROLE (AFTER 3 YEAR TIME SKIP):

Struggling with dread and anxiety after their return from Z-World, Wooyoung was desperate to get back on stage but couldn't see Ateez making it there after their many failed attempts to grab the public's attention

He became a flight attendant instead, making the plane his stage - their guests adored him

On his latest flight, Yunho and Mingi just happened to be on the plane

JONGHO

BACKSTORY:

His original dream was to become a pro basketball player but a serious ankle injury shattered that dream and made him feel like his life was over

Meeting Ateez became his second big dream

When Mingi tried to walk away from all of them and called their dreams meaningless, Jongho felt betrayed and like his dream was being taken from him and lashed out - he gets reminded of this incident again in the Fever Epilogue Diary Entries

ROLE IN Z-WORLD (FEVER/TREASURE/THE WORLD SERIES):

His trauma from his past as a basketball player is further explored in the Fever Part 2 and Part 3 Diary Entries but since then, he seems to have moved on and left it in the past

Like most of the other members, he has no set role and will fulfill necessary roles as needed

Frequently displayed character traits: bravery, commitment, quick thinking, loyalty

CURRENT ROLE (AFTER 3 YEAR TIME SKIP):

Jongho became a songwriter for an idol group after getting signed by a label who approached him after hearing a song he recorded with the members

After breaking up a fight between the boys he now worked with, he thought back to his own argument with Mingi so long ago and got lost in the memories

Putting on the song they'd recorded together so long ago, he cranked up the volume and felt the painful ache caused by the sound of their voices singing his song

TREASURE FILM EP.1 — JIEUN’S TREASURE CHALLENGE

It could be worse.

Jieun continuously repeated the sentence in her mind as she walked around the streets of Earlwood with Jongho. She’d been given the task of finding a random citizen and teaching them how to say 10 seconds worth of ATEEZ promotion in Korean, a direct result of one of the members’ comment that she was the group’s English teacher. However, the task was a lot easier said than done, the hardest part being working up the courage to ask someone to film.

[Shy Jieun struggles to approach people]

“Just go up to someone and ask them!” Jongho encouraged. “It’s not like you can’t speak English.”

She let out a small huff.

“I can’t just, like, go up to someone,” Jieun protested. “They’re all probably busy with their own lives and don’t want to be bothered.”

“You’re never going to finish your challenge otherwise.” The boy shook his head. “C’mon, Jieunie. Be brave.”

All hope seemed lost when another ten minutes passed without finding someone to be in their video. The two youngest members sat on a bench together, watching as people walked past.

“Everyone, you’re seeing footage of Jieun’s failure to complete her mission,” Jongho spoke to the camera. She ignored the boy, his voice fading into the background as her eyes remained forward.

[Jieun spots something in the distance]

That was when something caught her eye: a young boy standing a couple meters away from them, staring at the two with a shocked expression. He was frozen in place, jaw hanging agape. Jieun’s forehead wrinkled as she stared back at him.

Without warning, she stood up and began jogging toward the boy, who began backing up in shock.

“Hey,” Jieun said. He couldn’t have been older than 13 or 14, she realized as she got closer. He only stared at her with a shocked expression, and it was then that she noticed the keychain attached to one of his backpack straps, displaying their logo. A smile spread across the girl’s face as she tilted her head. “Are you an Atiny, by chance?”

The boy only gaped at her, eyes wide. After a few seconds, he nodded.

[Fate brought them a fan]

“It’s so nice to meet you! What’s your name?” she asked. He let out a small squeal, stuttering out,

“H-Harry. I’m Harry.”

“That’s my brother’s name!” Jieun exclaimed. “We’re filming a reality show right now, and I have to get someone to promote ATEEZ for 10 seconds in Korean. You wouldn’t happen to know Korean?”

Harry blushed as he shook his head. “I’ve been learning for a bit, but I’m honestly not very good.”

“It’s ok!” She waved her hand. “I’ll coach you through it. Would you be willing to be in our video?”

By then, Jongho and their staff member had already approached and were silently watching the interaction. Harry stopped in his tracks when he saw the two, but after a few seconds, he turned to Jieun and gave a quick nod.

“Alright, let’s do this!”

After a quick Korean lesson and ten minutes of practice, Harry finally felt comfortable enough to say the entire message.

“Harry, fighting!”

[How will he do…?]

The boy took in a deep breath, glancing at Jieun who was filming on her phone. She gave an encouraging smile, shooting the boy a thumbs up. A nervous smile spread across his face as he turned his attention back to the camera.

“Hello everyone, ATEEZ is a nine member group that debuted on October 24, 2018. They’ve had three album releases so far and all the members are super talented. Please look forward to their future activities and listen to their most recent song, Wave!”

Applause erupted amongst the idols as Harry bowed his head, turning away from the camera in embarrassment. Jieun smiled as she put her phone back into her pocket and walked toward him.

“Thank you so much, Harry,” she said, lightly clapping her hands. “I appreciate it so much. Thank you for being our fan.”

Harry sheepishly nodded, not meeting her gaze. He took off one strap of his backpack and opened the front pocket, pulling out a lanyard. Attached to the end was a toploader keychain, which he shyly held out toward her.

Jieun glanced down at it, jaw dropping when she saw that it contained her own photocard.

“If you don’t mind… could I get your autograph?”

She nodded immediately, glancing over at the staff member, who handed her a marker. Harry pulled the photocard out of its sleeve and held it out toward her. Jieun signed the card before sending the boy a big smile.

[An Atiny’s dream, fulfilled]

“Thank you so much!” he said, holding back his excitement as he grinned down at the card. Harry slipped it back into the sleeve, stuffing the lanyard into his pocket. “I have to go now, but thank you so much again. I love you, Jieun. You’re my idol.”

Jieun pouted as she waved him goodbye, placing a heart on her chest. She turned to Jongho, still holding up his camera.

“I can’t believe we found an Atiny on the streets,” Jieun confessed. “He was so adorable.” The older boy nodded in agreement, letting out a small chuckle.

“He especially seemed to like you,” Jongho commented, causing her to smile. “Let’s go home now, shall we?”

Together, the two youngest members began making their way home, every step bringing them closer to finishing the challenge.

TREASURE FILM EP.3 — BEACH CONFESSIONS

Jieun walked down the same path that each of her members had, following their footprints in the sand to where she was meant to stay standing. She glanced over at the director and raised her eyebrows, waiting for his approval before turning around to face her members.

“Can you guys hear me?” Jieun asked, cupping her hands around her mouth to amplify her sound.

“Yes, we can!”

She nodded, the corners of her mouth tilting upwards in a small smile. Jieun fiddled with the hem of her jacket, her gaze forward but not reaching any of her members. Some time passed as she collected her thoughts, so much so that she thought the staff or the members would have commented, but the air remained silent.

[Can’t seem to find the right words…]

“Everybody, I’m sorry for not telling you guys when I was going through a hard time,” Jieun finally confessed. “I know you must have felt hurt because it seemed like I didn’t trust you with my true feelings, but you all take such good care of me all the time. I didn’t want to be more of a burden.” She closed her eyes in fear of how they would react, though her heart swelled when she heard their responses.

“It’s ok, Jieunie!”

“We’re not upset with you!”

“You’ll never be a burden!”

Jieun’s lip began to tremble, though she quickly bit back the sob creeping up her throat.

“Don’t cry, Eun-ah!”

“I’m not gonna cry!”

The members, and even some of the staff, burst into laughter. A small chuckle escaped Jieun’s lips before she continued.

“I promise to be honest with my feelings moving forward, but even though I’m the youngest, I hope I can become someone you guys can rely on as well!”

A soft smile spread across Jieun’s face as she raised her head, finally meeting her members eye-to-eye. As her gaze floated from member to member, meeting each of their warm expressions, a single, silent tear fell down Jieun’s cheek.

[The touching words melt their hearts]

“I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life before I met you all, so thank you for showing me such an amazing and beautiful world. I want to continue making memories together, even if they’re bad or difficult, so please stay with me!”

With the end of her sentence, Jieun glanced over at the director and gave a single nod, indicating she was done. She began making her way back to the group, fiddling with her hands on the way there.

“Jieunie, come here,” Wooyoung said, making grabby hands at the girl. For once, she listened to his request, walking over to the boy and allowing him to pull her into a tight hug. “We’ll always love you, our cute maknae.”

Jieun scrunched up her face as he pressed a kiss to her cheek, Hongjoong ruffling her hair the moment she was released from Wooyoung’s grip.

The smile didn’t leave her face for the rest of the shoot.

TREASURE FILM EP.3 — GIVING THANKS

Jieun’s head rested on the table, watching her phone as it rang, praying that the call would go through.

“Hello?”

She sat up immediately, grabbing the phone off the table and holding it closer to her head.

“Mom?”

“Jieunie, my lovely daughter,” her mom’s warm voice sounded through the speaker. “How are you? How is Australia?”

“It’s good, Mom,” she answered. Jieun hesitated for a moment. “Hey, Mom, we’re filming the show right now and they’ve asked me to say some things that I’m grateful for. Are you busy?”

“I’m at work right now, but I have some time.”

“Oh,” Jieun said, her heart falling out of her chest. “If you’re busy right now, I can call you back later or something-”

“It’s ok, Jieunie,” her mom said, cutting her off. “I want to listen to you.” Although slightly surprised, Jieun nodded despite the fact that her mom couldn’t see. She took in a deep breath and held it for a few seconds, eventually exhaling in one slow, drawn out stream of air.

“Mom, thank you for giving birth to me,” she started off, a small chuckle slipping past her lips. “Thank you for working so hard my whole life to set me up for success, and thank you for being supportive even when I told you I wanted to go into this career path. I know you must have worried because of everything.”

[Jieun who finds feelings hard to talk about pours her heart out to her mom]

Jieun bounced her leg as she placed the phone back on the table, laying her arms out before resting her head.

“Thank you for giving me a healthy body and keeping me safe, and thank you for the best older brother I could ever ask for.” The line went silent, causing Jieun to frown. “Mom?”

“Jieunie…” came her mom’s choked voice. Jieun let out a small laugh of surprise.

“Are you crying?”

“No, I just need some water,” her mom replied, voice still overcome with emotion.

[The sudden waterworks make her laugh]

Jieun giggled, shaking her head as her mom spoke up again. “Jieunie, thank you for always being our wonderful daughter. You’ve grown up so well and I’m sorry your dad and I weren’t always there when you needed us. I hope you can forgive me for that.”

A small pout appeared on Jieun’s face as she looked down at the phone. All she could do was sit there in silence, struggling to find the right words.

“My parents are both emergency room doctors, so they worked a lot of long hours while my brother took care of me,” Jieun explained. “I never really talked with them about that sort of stuff when I was growing up.”

“Mom,” Jieun began, voice hesitant. “You don’t have to be sorry. I’m glad that I’m your daughter.” She heard a small sniffle emit from her phone, making the girl smile.

“I’m glad that you’re my daughter too,” her mom responded. She could imagine the tears running down her mom’s face. “Ah, Jieunie, I’m sorry. I have to go now. I love you so much.”

The sentence, which used to bring her such grief, only filled Jieun’s heart as she nodded, a smile spreading across her face as she replied.

“It’s ok, Mom. Go save lives. I love you too.”

After saying her goodbyes, Jieun put the phone back into her pocket. She waved at each camera set up through the room. Jieun got up and bowed to the staff, quickly thanking each one before making her way out of the room, disappearing into the stairwell.

a look into the different hair styles you've had throughout the years! starting from treasure ep. 1 and going all the way till birthday. you have become well - known for your hair over the years along with your hime style cut that has become a staple to your idol image.

✶ TREASURE ERA ───

TREASURE EP.1 ─── you would sport brown hair with bright pink highlights. a lot of fans would really adore this look on 19 - year - old you and it really helped you stand out amongst the boys. you would also have bangs that would eventually become a part of your image.

TREASURE EP.2 ─── probably had what atiny would say is one of your more " safer " hairstyles. not to say it was bad, but atiny thought that kq could have done a little more. you dyed your hair a slightly dark brown, got rid of the highlights, and cut it a little bit. however, while a lot of atiny said that it was a little boring, there was also a lot of fans who said that this hairstyle this comeback gave you a more mature look and fit with the darker concept of ' say my name ' and ' hala hala. '

TREASURE EP.3 ─── you would dye your hair orange and during this era you notice how your popularity would begin to rise. overall, atiny really loved how much you glowed during this era and seemed to have fun during every performance. a lot of your fans would say that you did really well with the more bright and fun concepts.

TREASURE EP.FIN ─── this is where k-pop would first be introduced to the oreo hairstyle. you would also be the one to start the oreo line in ateez. a lot of fans thought you pulled this hair off really well especially since you were nervous about doing a hairstyle like this. during promotions for fever pt. 3, wooyoung would mention how you had inspired him to want to try the hairstyle himself.

TREASURE EPILOGUE ─── a lot of atiny consider this a favorite hair style. introducing the first time you would have the hime-cut, which is another iconic style that you will have along with your bangs. you have said that this is personally one of your favorite hairstyles you've done because you've always wanted to try the hime-cut and no matter how it was styled, you always felt confident with it. you also had this hair for TREASURE EP. MAP TO ANSWER japanese mini album.

✶ FEVER ERA ───

FEVER PART 1 ─── hello ms. blue hair! you were so excited to have this hair color, you also kept the hime-cut but left it a little longer than last comeback. the members and atiny also really liked your hair as well. near the end of promotions, you would dye your hair a light brown color.

FEVER PART 2 ─── CUNTY BOB!YN! hello, she was iconic, she was the moment. atiny loved how much you pulled this off. however, the fandom was devastated when they found out that the cunty bob was in fact a wig. the reason why you didn't cut it was because you were filming for your drama ' gothel ' at the time and needed to keep it long and dark brown. you also couldn't fully commit to cutting it that short yet. underneath the wig, it was longer and a dark brown as seen during some stages and videos. you also had this hair for INTO THE A TO Z japanese repackage album.

FEVER PART 3 ─── you went through a sort of vintage aesthetic during fever part 3 with your personal style and so your stylists and kq kind of went along with that when they dyed your hair blonde and for the most part styled it in curls giving it a sort of retro feel to it.

FEVER EPILOGUE ─── this comeback introduced a DIVA to atiny. this was such whiplash from fever ep. 3 that atiny were like " who is this DIVA " because you had went from a summer blonde with curtain bangs and curls to a dark brown, hime-cut, and no bangs. this was the first time atiny had seen your forehead and they didn't know what to do. iconic.

✶ THE WORLD ERA ───

THE WORLD EP.1 ─── atiny had been begging and waiting for pink!yn for YEARS, and they finally got it. no one was disappointed by this and you even trended on several platforms when fansites had posted your pictures all over twitter. atiny also like to say that this era in general was a great one for you because of how confident and excited you always looked when performing or during interviews.

SPIN-OFF FROM THE WITNESS ─── MICRO! BANGS! this was also the first time you dyed your hair black for a comeback and atiny ate. it. up. wooyoung had joked that your bangs looked a lot like san's did during deja vu and fans couldn't unsee it. regardless of being compared to deja vu san, you still really liked the hair style and bangs in general and was glad you tried it out. you also had this hair for THE WORLD EP. PARADIGM japanese mini album.

THE WORLD EP.2 ─── the return of blonde!yn that a lot of yn-inators had been waiting for. however, unlike the first time you had blonde hair, this blonde was definitely a more colder type of blonde with also hints of silver in it as well. along with dying it, you also cut it a little shorter than what you have done in the past. you would however wear hair extensions for some stages and during one of music shows, the boys would tease you about hair loss because your extensions had come loose during rehearsal.

THE WORLD EP.FIN ─── this era would say goodbye to the bangs for this comeback and fans were blessed with seeing your forehead after two years. this comeback also allowed for a lot of fun hairstyles during music show performances which all got really popular on different platforms. you also wore fake bangs during some stages, but by the end of promotions you would cut your hair and bring the bangs back. you also had this hair for NOT OKAY japanese single.

✶ GOLDEN HOUR ERA ───

GOLDEN HOUR PART 1 ─── debuting this hair originally at coachella, this was a fan favorite as many claimed the highlights were a fun addition to the hair. originally, you didn't want to dye your hair just black and had to beg for them to add some more " fun " and the decision they came up with was to add some highlights. you didn't complain, you thought the colors were cute and you loved how they stood out against your coachella outfits. a lot of atiny compared you to a monster high doll because of your hair and some of your stage outfits.

BIRTHDAY ─── when you dyed your hair red during the will to power tour, many atiny rejoiced because this was the closest they were getting to having bob!yn back, but without the bob cut. you admitted to have worn a wig during the photoshoots for ' birthday ' along with the mv shoot, but then you liked the red color so much you asked kq if you could actually dye it and they let you.

・Fractured her left ribs during a rehearsal for the first stage of 'Kingdom: Legendary War' in February of 2021, then again during the shooting of the 'Guerilla' music video in 2022. She received surgery in April 2024 following Coachella due to the risk of irreparable damage following several health complications.

・Since contracting COVID during the quarantine period she has had breathing problems which have permanently weakened her cardio and cause frequent needs for an oxygen mask especially when fatigued. The condition still remains unknown.

・Her favorite color is white because she feels like it is elegant, which is why she chose it as her microphone color.

・Her birth name means 'Sun' and her Korean name means 'Beautiful Summer' , chosen because the sun symbolizes hope

Callbacks to HALA HALA w/ "hala~"

My emotions: the song as a whole embodies the lyrics, it has this very floaty kind of sound that isn't quite text painting but it's the best way I can describe it

"In this emptiness / I know how to swim through it / Diving deep, I’m getting closer / To this emptiness (To this emptiness)

Very smooth as an intro and a fitting start to the album

The humming blends in with the organ? I'm a fan

2:52 in IOMT has "Ooh, ooh" that matches the spooky and dark tones in this

I listened to the previews but those piano chords are suddenly more jarring and sound very dissonant after the humming in the first half which definitely suits the mood

Hahaha Jongho and Seonghwa in verse 2 where they do the little circle around each other is so cute

And OH my gosh the outro where their right hands go up and they do the little nods

As a baby ATINY, it's really cool that my first comeback with them is this style of dance!!

I need help trying to figure out what the looping vocal in the beginning is saying

Jongho for the pre-chorus??

Seonghwa right after Jongho is so interesting because this man's voice is like a chameleon and I like how it changes between songs

[See "Blind" from GH pt.1 for my favorite example]

Listening to IOMT after the first 2 tracks is the way to go; the chorus backtrack is pretty laid back even with the strings and percussions so it might otherwise be jarring when the chorus starts (sorry if I get terms wrong, I don't know music production)

And I can't leave out the mafia vibes!! (Some ATINYs are saying Peaky Blinders too)

Yeosang embodies the mistress of the manor at 2:28 with the umbrella hahaha

Man on Fire

According to personal taste, this song is easily #2 in the ranks

"I'll walk into these flames if it's with you": obsessive love? I liked "Desire" from TREASURE: EP 2 so this is right up my alley

Both songs have very similar imagery in their lyrics as well

The doubling/unison during the chorus- especially for "I got no way"- makes me so happy!! The fullness pushes the themes of yearning/a crazy kind of love

Interestingly for “I got no way”, the song builds right before with the rap section, and right after they hit us with “I got no way”, the beat drops and the chorus comes through

Selfish Waltz

Honestly, I was itching for someone to do a pair dance to this ever since I saw “GH pt. 2 Preview” and now I'm even more convinced

Searching up the meaning of waltz (“to roll or revolve”), the song is about a love that feels like a war because the relationship seems to never go anywhere since they keep circling back to arguing even when they say they love each other

Enough

I am a sucker for ballads and listening to the previews I knew it was going to get stuck in my head

Lee Mujin service with San??? Yeah it solidified itself as a solid 10/10 and #1 in my heart

After "Deep Dive" and "Selfish Waltz", this song is so much more uplifting and very empowering in a very desperate way? It’s basically a friend shaking you back to your senses

I need a smart ATINY to explain to me how IOMT fits into the lore
