mingis my bias for many reasons but onenof them is that i relate to him a lot. i think he's autistic bc we present super super similarly. i say this because i have friends that i feel that way towards (like the way he does to yunho). im super self directive and ambitious, im capable on my own. but it's very easy to get in my own head and trapped and intimidated by things, and i have friends who have given my the crucial support i needed to get to the other side. im endlessly devoted to them because of this love and care they've shown me. needing a friend like that isnt a negative thing at all!!! to me, people who see it as a negative thing probably just aren't aware of all the ways they've benefited from the support of their loved ones.

Mingi is extremely literal, too, which adds to your thesis, I think.

In the most recent voice-only Mingi Live, (25.1.24) he was apparently asked by a fan, What are you up to these days? And he answered, "I've been on a tour. It's called the European tour. See, we did the US tour last year, and this year, we've come to Europe. And it's my first time in Switzerland, which I've come to, because of the tour. So that's what I've been doing."

Dude. This is your ToqTok. That people pay to subscribe to. For you. Because you're a pop star. And he'd been on this tour for at least a week, and that was after his departure from Seoul had been covered by a Korean tabloid!

The fan must've done a FOREHEAD SMACK and said, Uhh that is not the question I asked? Because he says, "Why? What did you want to ask then?" And after reading the comment, he goes, "Oh, what have I been doing outside of the tour?" At which point I did a forehead smack. But he doesn't even get embarrassed, LOL.

I have to say, it's extremely interesting that autists of various stripes (Dr. and Self-diagnosed, on a range across the spectrum that the people who are supposed to professionally know about autism are just recently beginning to see) confess finding a reflection of themselves in a different Ateez member. We're all looking, I think, for the 'alikes' wherever we can, but especially in media, because IRL we are all so UNALIKE everyone around us. So one anon quoted people who saw their own ND likeness in Yeosang and Seonghwa, and I see it more in HongJoong, and you're seeing it in Mingi.

This is partly to do with how varied autistic people are, to begin with, but also it has to come from being deluged with information about these people (I can't really recall if I have just sat in silence and paid close attention to someone talking to people that are not me for an hour, and yet TokToqs routinely have me doing that) and yet know nothing about them. We can see what we need to see.

I like Mingi because the more I encounter his unscripted reactions to things, the more evidence I compile that Mingi doesn't have a single mean bone in his (very big) body. He wants things to be correct and proper, but he doesn't needle people or mock them. It just doesn't seem to occur to him to do this. And this makes him a really safe companion to have talking in the background as I do chores. LOL. He's my house-chore friend, now, especially because he does so many of these 'voice only' things where I don't need to watch his face.

This is a Harry Potter AU where the Potter family are South Indian (specifically Tamil [James] and Telugu [Lily]) and the Black family are SWANA . New elements in the story include entirely new fancasts for the entire cast, the introduction of a Magical British Museum (the new primary antagonist besides Lord Voldemort), OC siblings for characters like Harry and Pansy, and several timeline changes .

I made this blog to post my self indulgent fics after being inspired by others so it is gonna have nsfw writing. I’ve had Tumblr for a while however this will be my first time posting anything let alone my writing. I am still new to being an active poster and writer so please be patient as i find my footing.

So I guess this is my introduction post...

important updates.

and by important updates i mean, minor changes no one but me will care about but i feel the need to share them anyway.

a slow-down in writing/semi-hiatus.

since summer is here, and my work is getting busier thanks to it, i have less time to write as much as i’d like to. because of this, i will be removing all release dates from my wips, starting from june onwards. this is to give myself more leeway and to avoid any feelings of stress or guilt if a story is not posted on the day i promised. i will still continue to post, and all promised fics will be released at some point, but i will be writing at my own leisure and, most importantly, whatever story i’m feeling more at that moment. please do not send an ask regarding the rainbow riots nor the disney reimagined series, all of those fics will be posted when i feel it’s best.

while ateez are definitely the main group i will continue to write for on this blog, i’m debating adding others to my list. for example, shinee are my ult group and i would be interested in writing something about taemin or minho. i also stan skz and tbz (the other 2/3 of the big Zs), and am debating writing something about their members. lastly, i’m slowly getting back into bts (after stanning them from 2014-2017, when i took a break from kpop in general due to the events that happened with shinee). i may write for one or two members while i get back into them but this is just hypothetical and nothing promised.

i’m aware i still have many pirate!ateez reaction requests to fulfil, but they’ve been put on hold until the hongjoong installment of disney reimagined is released, as the reactions include spoilers for that story.

my neurodivergency.

i make it very readily available information on this blog that i am a person who falls under the category of neurodivergent but never have i felt the need to share what type of neurodivergency i possess. until now. in the past few days, i’ve received several asks that i’ve chosen to not share, in which i have been criticised for having a supposed attitude and just in general being told my replies come off as rude, along with asks of some of you thinking i’m upset when i’m not. so let me make this clear for anyone and everyone: i have ASD. because of this, i might come off as rude, or cold, or dismissive at times and i sincerely apologize if the way i’ve ever responded to any of you has ever offended or hurt some of you. it isn’t my intention to do that but that doesn’t make it okay or excuse it. i constantly try my best to make sure my tone comes across as kind as possible and i’m going to continue to try even harder in the future. again, i’m sorry if you’ve ever thought my reply to you was rude, i did not realise it came across that way.

Oh wait I DO have a question although it’s not about ateez. But I saw that you also mentioned stray kids, so in the same vein as your thoughts about hongjoong/seongwha, what are your thoughts on Han/lee know? That’s another pair that some people I know are absolutely certain is Real.

I think Minsung are incompetent at doing this form of fanservice. There's a stuttery, not-sure-what-to-do-next quality to Lee Know and Han's interactions a lot of the time, which I think is intentional, but it's not to my taste. And then other times they unpredictably veer off into way-too-handsy, way-too-intimate territory that ultimately make it uncertain whether it's performance, forced, or cautious attempts at actually coming out. Whatever it is, it's not good fanservice in terms of trying to give the female audience a good time. If you're going to do BL fanservice, then put your goddamn pussy into it, you know? And if you don't want to, then be like I.N. and loudly object, or be like Hyunjin and make it clear that it's a joke and a roleplay. What the Western fandom seems to take as proof of 'authenticity' looks to my Korean eyes like these two are just bad at this part of being Idols and that their company can't get its shit together about what exactly they want to present.

I assume that every single thing we ever see about any Idol from any official channel is planned, edited, knowingly performed and goes through a structured approval process by corporate stakeholders prior to release. There are no 'off' moments or 'guard down' moments and there are no moments of rebellion vis a vis the company overlords.The Korean entertainment backwaters are littered with discarded Idols; none of them would ever dare. If there's a does-a-sus-thing-and-then-looks-beyond-camera-to-staff moment, I never think it's about They Forgot There Was a Camera!! What has happened is they were told to work in a moment like that in their semi-scripted reality show and wanted to know if it passed.

As a result, I find both the possibility that Lee Know and Han are actually dating AND the possibility that they're doing the gay-for-pay role-playing that's being demanded of 4th Gen onwards while actually being straight equally suffocating and upsetting to consider.

Take for example Han and Lee Know performing "Want So Bad" on their own talk show. If you want to posit that these are two gay boys, in a relationship, it's fucking depressing for me as a Korean woman to be like, they can't ever come out, they have to pretend this isn't real, and this is the musical gender-flip equivalent of lesbian porn made purely for straight men, so why am I even here? I don't find gay men titillating just for existing, but the whole BL genre is built on that premise and it's very profitable. If you posit that they're just friends and coworkers, being singer and songwriter, it's equally depressing that they have to pretend to be gay for money, for the appeasement of the most deranged and unhinged parts of the fanbase.

Lee Know constantly has these 'break mask' moments in performance that make me wonder if this is a neurodivergence issue or a discipline issue OR if he's trying to 'tell' the audience something, and he does this throughout the Want So Bad live performance. He bursts into laughter, can't control facial expressions, stares at Han too much then not at all. And what I thought was, WTF is this? @_@??

I would much rather see Wooyoung of Ateez rub his behind on Yunho's front as Yunho looks honestly miserable and then dance up to Yunho's bestie Mingi to stroke his face and sashay around him while Mingi, in completely contrast to Yunho, gets really into it and laughs. THIS IS FUN. This is actual fanservice for the girls. Does that make sense?

Lee Know is my Stray Kids bias, probably, for his dancing and that magical face, but I get nothing out of the ships they put him in - Minsung, or the one with Seungmin, or the butt groping he does with Changbin or Hyunjin.
