Wow. My first in-depth, non-Amazon review. Not bad! Full disclosure: I was not aware there was a difference between "astronomers" and "astrologists." If they aren't the same thing, they ought to be.

Details under the cut:
Tycho: He lost his nose in a sword duel and had a prosthetic one made out of brass. He was an astronomer/astrologist and had a successful career until he died. And damn what a cause of death. He attended a banquet in Prague and wouldn't leave to go take a piss because it would be rude. Well, holding in your pee is very unhealthy and he died 11 days later.
Vasa: A blueprint for the titanic submersible - rich asshole building an awful boat that sank immediately. It was super well armed and also decorated, but it was poorly balanced and unstable and it got sank by a gust of wind. ass ship.

Ok but that ask about Reader and Foul Legacy watching the stars gave me an idea:
Sparkly moth deserves an astronomer/astrologist Reader, who's completely in awe with the stars that cover the abyss and it's denizens, and loves the patterns they form, like constellations they don't know but want to comprehend. Imagine them mentioning that if they discover a new constellation or star, they'd name it after Foul Legacy.
Also, this quote is really sappy but "my fate written in the stars" sounds like a super endearing way they'd describe Foul Legacy at some point
listen listen LISTEN, you're part of the Rtawahist Darshan at the Akademiya, too
the Sages certainly don't agree with your study of the Abyss- too dangerous, they say. it's against everything the Archon of Dendro stands for! and yet, they can't exactly stop you. it's an area of knowledge that needs expanding on, now perhaps more than ever, and technically you are still studying the stars. even more irritating is just how wonderfully all of your papers are written, so they reluctantly oblige and allow you to continue your investigations. of course, you're not telling them everything. while some of your fellow scholars might scold you for it, you know it's best to keep a few things secret- such as the lovely creature you found while exploring, this curious Foul Legacy who seems so monstrous yet acts so sweet. no no, you couldn't possibly inform the Sages and send him off to be tormented and experimented on, and Legacy seems to think the same
so for now, he's your special secret
you spend a lot of nights awake together, trying to scale the grand tree that holds up the Akademiya. you can see the stars best from that position, of course, all the way at the top, perched upon the highest branch. if you're too tired that day, Legacy scoops you into his arms and flies, delicate wings glimmering just like the stars as he gently sets you down on the branch. here, you can point out everything you know, then ask him if the Abyss has them, too. some stay constant, others are mirrored, and more still are completely new. you promise to chart them all with him, making the first ever rough map of the Abyss based on the patterns he tells you, the speckles of light flecked across his wings
sometimes, if you tilt your head enough and think sideways, you can almost see your fate written out across them

what are your thoughts on astrology
When I was a kid I wanted to be an astronomer and Carl Sagan was my idol, so you can imagine I didn't have a good opinion of it.
Nowadays I'm a bit more open to it, especially on how important it was to cosmological thinking through the ages. There is something very appealing about "as above, so below"
But I still don't really like astrology because I don't like ideas that say that people are destined to be such and such, and also I think pop astrology doesn't have any "astral" about it at all. Old astrologists actually watched the skies and interpreted them, appreciated the wonder of the universe, that's something I can really respect. My experience with astrology is people asking your birthday and throwing random vague guesses about your personality. I don't feel anything compelling about that, that's just an internet personality quiz where my answers don't matter. Why should I care, are you actually looking at the stars or just a calendar?
If there are any astrologers who are analyzing the latest pictures from the James Webb telescope, now I'm listening.

Can you tell us more about your Sailor Earth OC? 👀
Oh my goodness thank you for asking!!! I'm going to be greedy and use this as an info dump, hope that’s okay anon! 🙏
For starters, I should mention that Sailor Earth is a redesign/alternate fandom recycle of my main oc Genevieve Marena. She was originally created in 2018 for the Fairy Tail fandom and started with the name Hoseki Ishi.
Gene's thing was always diamonds, gems and minerals. So when I became obsessed with- *ahem* I mean, Got into Sailor Moon, I could not resist the urge to draw her as Sailor Earth. I drew her within a month of reading and buying the first 2 volumes LOL.
This is the art from August 1st 2022
Tumblr media
Since then I fell utterly in love with Dream arc, Mamoru and any version of him, Elysion, the Golden Kingdom, Helios’ role as a guardian priest and literally anything related to the Earth as Naoko Takeuchi wrote of it.
I was also low-key upset about how 90s was treating Mamo and Usagi, so I ironically made her the senshi that defends the love of Serenity and Endymion and protects their happiness lol.
Tumblr media
Thinking about her more seriously as I am now deeply attached to Sailor Moon, I have a working summary of how I imagine her.
I explored her various designs for the series back in Summer 2023 (again after finishing the manga)
Tumblr media
More recently, I've been brainstorming how to more efficiently include her in the Sailor Moon story. I've been doing light research on Mythology, becoming more familiar with Astrology and crystals. I was honestly struggling quite a bit when it became clear that Earth is almost excluded from Astrology. That is, it's not treated in the same respect as Mercury or Neptune etc. are.
I also knew that I didn't want to make her a Princess, that would be like replacing Endymion as the heir to the planet. And I was not about to make her the child of NQ Serenity and King Endymion. So I thought I might make her somewhat like Chibi Moon. If there can be two Sailor Moon senshi, then I say, why not two Earth guardians? Then I noticed that Pink Moon is actually the term for April's full moon. So I thought I could do something with that to make my Sailor Earth stand out (since it is obviously a very unoriginal idea in the first place) but I have yet to find a similar thing for Earth.
Basically Earth is much less interesting than literally any other heavenly body to astronomers and astrologists so I'm working with very little lol.
Anyway, I decided she'd be an Elysion Priestess and that she was given the powers of a Sailor Senshi to protect the Earth and her prince. She goes to the surface and attends Rei’s school, T.A girls academy.
More recently, I was watching Eternal for like the 1 millionth time and it has always bugged me that the 2 Maenads look like they are from the Moon.
Tumblr media
They look more like Queen Serenity than someone from Earth.
Tumblr media
So, no offense to Takeuchi my girl, but imma change that. Because unfortunately I feel like things from Silver Millenium like the Twin bun hair on these two overlap too much with what should be unique to Earth. (But that is a blog for another day, so I digress) The two Maenads are now Gaia and Terra. Gaia becomes Sailor Earth and goes to the surface as Hoseki Jinsei and her Lavender Earth Crystal forms.
See these two? One of ‘em is Gaia.
Tumblr media
Also, since it is already shameless enough to make a Sailor Earth self insert, I'm inserting my late cat Flash and his name is Apollo because Moon kitties are from Mau therefore any planet can have one not just Moon senshi. But also cuz I miss the hell out of him and I can't look at Artemis without thinking about him.
As of right now, this is the general concept of my Sailor Earth:
Name: Gaia
Gender: female
Civilian Name: Hoseki Jinsei
Senshi name: Sailor Earth
Sailor Crystal: Lavender Earth Crystal
Family: Terra (sister?/mother?) Helios (brother)
Occupation: Elysion Priestess
Partner: Apollo (white kitty with heterochromia from Mau, Artemis' twin brother)
Again, thank you so much for giving me the chance to info dump :3

the traveler in hsr
Tumblr media
gn!traveler x honkai star rail
warnings: none, (just nostalgia), comfort (by Jing Yuan)
word count: ~bit more than 2k
a/n: noticing shit in HSR and connecting it in GI made me do this, also Jing Yuan has me in a chokehold help (characters mentioned subtly/fully or included (spoiler alert): Herta, Asta, Mona, Pom-pom, Himeko, March 7th, Dan Heng, Sampo, Arataki Itto, Paimon, Yae Miko, Gorou, Tingyun, Welt, Yanqing, Xiao, Jing Yuan, Kazuha)
description: what if the traveler continued their journey with the astral express after Teyvat… here the traveler is in place of the trailblazer.
You were walking in Herta's space station getting familiar with your surroundings before it was time to leave with the Astral Express crew. You were sure you were not staying here with Herta so she could lead experiments on you, you didn't need to get experimented on. Moreover, just the thought of it reminded you of a certain Fatui Harbinger you met in Sumeru. The modern aspect of the whole station was something new you haven't seen in a while. It was interesting to see such different technology. Once you heard they had a museum at the station you wished to see it before leaving. You made your way into the big room, it was filled with various objects some of the past, some of other worlds, and some you didn’t recognize. Trying to understand your settings and your upcoming travels, you stopped in front of each of the relics. Once you finished reading a quote under one of them and went to move on to the next one, you caught a glimpse of something all too familiar. It immediately pulled you close Unable to control it yourself, you rushed to it, your eyes staring through the glass. The black feathers of the wind glider shined. The glider looked like it had worn before and had flown in the sky. You felt overwhelmed, not expecting to see it here, reminding you of everything and everyone you left behind… Your eyes dropped to read the description. As the words described the nature and surroundings of Monstadt you felt your heart tighten, a surge of pain and nostalgia pulling you under. You gently put your hand on the glass. Slowly you sat down leaning your head on the cool metal, allowing yourself to feel those emotions. You had your wings back now, and while they felt amazing; being reminded of how you used to glide down the Liyue mountain peaks, the Sumeru desert… so many places with the wind guiding you. It… hurt. You asked Herta if you could perhaps borrow it or just take it with you when you leave the station but were rejected. Not that you expected her to allow you something like that, but you had to… just had to ask at least. While fighting certain enemies the lead researcher Asta fought alongside you. Through spending more time with her,  you couldn't help but giggle at her behavior. Her constant mentions of the stars since she is an astronomer and her spending habits reminded you of a certain astrologist who was once your close friend. So standing in front of the pink-haired girl with her shorter subordinate as she complained about her funds being unavailable you couldn't help but smile to yourself. She noticed you were looking at her endearingly and asked about it.
„Hey, trailblazer is everything okay?“ she smiled, „you're looking at me kinda strange“. You smiled in response your eyes turning into little crescent moons and answered „Ah.. it's nothing. I was just thinking of someone. You reminded me of them.“ You nodded as you ended your sentence. Asta nodded as well, smiling, and then continued the previous conversation.
The express crew seemed nice. Pom-pom was quiet but caring, Welt's way of speech reminded you of a certain older Archon, March 7th was sweet, Himeko seemed to be a very knowledgeable person and Dan Heng said he'd be happy to help with anything you needed from the archive. You assume the journey with them while... trailblazing would be enjoyable.
As the three of you set foot on Jario VI the snow felt comforting, reminding you of your adventures on Dragonspine. You were expecting to experience the effects of the sheer cold and leave in a short amount of time or find a heat source, but March and Dan Heng assured you it's normal and you wouldn't grow to be that cold. A goofy man is the first person you meet and his way of speech warms your heart reminding you of a certain Oni from Inazuma.
At one point you were walking around the Overworld and walked to a rail. You were gazing at the trash can since it was looking at you strangely but you did nothing about it, being a polite and respectful person. The guard looked at you weirdly and once you tried moving on past the rail he informed you it's not allowed at this moment.
In that moment you remembered how Paimon would always say „How about we explore the area ahead of us later?“ whenever you two would wander off too far… You looked down on the rail, then at the guard, and turned away. You were looking at the ground on your way back to the hotel. You kept seeing faces that seemed so familiar that it brought you comfort and a smile to your face, the way you'd see your friends in other people. And you continued to see similar people to them in the way they would talk, walk, behave, or simply their personality.
All the fights were normal something you already got used to before, and the life of trailblazers made sense. You were glad that it was also obvious that your goal was to help the nation or in this case the planet with their stellaron problem.
Xianzhou Loufu came as a breath of fresh air as well. Seeing Tingyun reminded you of the comment Yae Miko made to Gorou that if he took better care of his tail it could even be fluffier. You wondered if his tail would look like Tingyun's. The happy thoughts and memories helped you get through each day. The next day you were chatting with the general, Welt and March while standing in front of the hotel. As you were used to (so far) you were listening, paying attention to their words, this time there was no one above your shoulder to state shared thoughts and opinions. It felt quiet, an empty space that used to be filled. Occasionally, they would look at you to comment, and you'd say a few words but mainly keep quiet. So used to having a companion who spoke for the two of you. Especially since this language wasn't your native tongue, Paimon was helpful in these situations. It was an enjoyable conversation learning some information about the structure of the Luofu and the further plan for catching the Stellaron hunters. What you didn't expect was a smaller boy with blonde hair, the hairstyle just like an Adeptus general to run up to your conversation. He had a big smile on his face and a sword around his waist. His bright personality shined as he spoke and introduced himself. It all made you immediately think... he looked… he looked like… If you and Xiao had a child that's how you think the kid would look… and in that moment it broke your heart. Seeing someone like Xiao wouldn't break it because that isn't him just someone similar to him. But seeing a kid that looks like a son of you… You couldn't help the tears filling up your eyes. In that moment you knew you'd protect that boy with your life although looking at him breaks your heart.
Luckily the conversation seemed to be coming to an end as you were trying to fight the tears. Just before the first tear decided to drop the conversation ended and you managed to turn your face and walk away as the first tear fell.
You didn't notice the general looking at you the whole time since you set your eyes on Yanqing. He noticed your expression change, your smile turn fake, and your eyes fill with pain and tears. As he said his goodbyes to the others he quietly followed the direction you left in.
You sat on a bench a bit further away from the hotel. Your face in your hands, quiet sobs escaping your lips as your emotions and memories flood you. You softly mumbled his name once. „Xiao.“ Knowing you're not in Teyvat and he wouldn't come when you called… That fact alone made you sob harder, hot tears streaming down your cheeks as the pain cut you deep. You pulled your legs closer and leaned your head on your legs. In a couple of minutes, soft footsteps could be heard making you look up showing your face just enough to see who it is and if you're in danger.
You looked up and your honey-colored eyes met golden ones. The general had a worried look on his face. „Hey… mind if I sit?“ You nodded, wiping your cheeks and sitting properly again. As he sat down he looked at you „Are you okay? Your expression changed when you saw Yanqing.“ You took a moment to breathe and calm down your voice. „I'm sorry. I-I didn't mean to worry you.“ He looked at you with the softest eyes and offered a smile „I assure you it is no trouble.“ He spoke with a deep voice that soothed your ears. You sighed. Your intuition said he is a safe person to talk to. And so far you were never wrong so you decided to chat openly. „He, Yanqing looks like if me and a… ah..“ Your voice trailed off trying to find the right words. „If me and a person who means a lot to me had a child together.“ You knew how strange that sounded so you quickly added „His small face, hairstyle, wavy hair, and eye color are exactly like his, but the golden hair color is like mine…“ The general nodded and gently put a hand on your shoulder. „I understand you're not having an easy time adapting… some of my assistants said you are new to the Astral crew and spent years somewhere else before this.“ You nodded to his words. He took note you didn't speak much unless necessary, he was much more observant than you expected. You two sat in silence until you calmed down a bit.
He had many thoughts processing in his head, running through the things about you that seemed interesting and different in a way. Like the sword, you kept your hand on at all times. The blade seemed dull, without shine, old, used and it didn't make sense to him. You fought like a very skilled swordfighter, and your technique impeccable. He thought about offering a new sword or maybe offering a polishing up for the one you had but seeing how capable in fights you were he decided not to comment on it, an extraordinary fighter as yourself would have a good reason to use such a sword and he decided to not doubt you.
„After so many years of living and ah..“ You spoke softly, your voice soft and pained. „I connected to the last place I was. The people..“Your voice trailed off again and you sat in a comfortable silence which you desperately needed. Just someone to be there as you process your feelings.
Once he heard you say 'many years of living'  he came to realization the you were closer to age that he was rather than the one your appearance claimed and your current crew thought you were. In the way you carried yourself, the few words you spoke it all confirmed that you were much older than you looked. After all, a person with a long life span can easily recognize another one like them.
The artificial sun started to set and you leaned your head on Jing Yuan's shoulder. He gave your head a few gentle pats as you two enjoyed the silence. Even for him, there weren't people of similar age. Both of you were just calm and sitting on some sort of leaf of peace in this storm that is life. You looked to the side and you felt a soft breeze rustle your hair and you swear for a second you hear a soft voice recite a haiku about the sea. You missed him too… as you took a deep breath in you leaned further onto the general. Maybe you would find some comfort in each other. You remained like this even when the sky got covered in bright stars.
It doesn't feel like what you had so far. The trailblazing was fun and you're enjoying it, the worlds, and the planets are nice to explore. You're making some friends and memories along the way (though, the friends didn't feel like the ones you've made so far) You tried to find hope in it. As fun as it was you didn't expect nostalgia to hit you this much. Furthermore, you didn't expect you'd ever be close to somebody like you were to people in Teyvat again. Yet here you were getting comforted by Jing Yuan. A new friend who seemed like the one that would stick around. Still as amazing as this all was, the Luofu, the Underworld, the Station, the Express… it will never feel like that, like Teyvat, this will never be that.
It will never feel… like home
(maybe you will hold on a bit tighter to Jing Yuan. So your breathing will get easier)

(Also, no, you are not required to label yourself as an anon! I will.. likely specify that somewhere, now that I’m reminded, haha!! I do think the specific labelling is fun, though! :] )
I will also say, I’m not very knowledgeable in astrology myself— but I’ll certainly try!! Haha!!

Late Night Shenanigans…
Wally x GN!Astrologist!Reader !
Drabble format, relation can be interpreted by reader!
Tumblr media
Cracking open the door to their home, nestled comfortably in the lively— though currently sleepy— and comforting neighbourhood, was Y/N. With their telescope looped under their arm, and their trusty astronomer’s journal held loosely in their other hand, they’d carefully use their foot to close their door. In most cases? Locking the door would be best! But in this neighbourhood? It wasn’t much of a concern! And who has time for locks when there are stars about?!!
With a giddy smile, they’d take off towards the surrounding woods of the neighbourhood— an almost nightly routine, at this point, as they beelined for a nearby hill. Why, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if they trampled their own little trail into the colourful grass, by now! They had discovered this hill not too long ago, it quite close to the neighbourhood— but still cut off loosely by the trees and unkept grass. The little spot felt like their own, and the clearing the hill gave from the trees made a delightful little spot to stargaze! It was no wonder why they were drawn to the spot night by night, even if they should be, possibly, sleeping..
Having drifted into their own thoughts as they walked, the bushes would soon give way to shortened, but still flowing grass. The darkened trees overhead would give way to the night sky above, the area ever so slightly dimly illuminated by the large crescent moon above. It almost felt dream-like! Clicking back into reality as the scenery shifted, they’d grin again before marching up the hill— it, thankfully, wasn’t a very steep one! And, with routine-practiced precision, they had their little corner of the world set up in just a few moments. Telescope propped up, astrology book flipped open to whatever page they needed, they’d happily indulge in the speckled sky above. Seeing as the neighbourhood didn’t really have any lights to cause light pollution, the sight of the sky was breathtaking. The sky many had looked up to, for many years! Quite poetic in it of itself, especially with a full scope on just how many stars there were!
Nearby, though, was another neighbour— an intrigued, curious one. Peering through the tree line, having followed the tossed grass, was no other than Wally Darling himself. For quite a few nights now, he had heard.. scuffling outside, which caused some confusion! Not many of the neighbours went out at night, save for maybe Frank hunting after specific nocturnal bugs, or Sally just.. being Sally. So, tonight, he deemed he’d investigate it! Perhaps it was a late night critter? He just had to know! This, however, just led to him following you.. here? What an odd raccoon (/j)…
You, however, were none the wiser to his curious stare, instead staring up at the sky with wide eyes. You look starstruck, quite literally! He watched as you excitedly flickered between peering through your telescope; flicking through the pages of your book as you clumsily held a flashlight in your mouth; and simply staring up at the large sky in all its glory.
With a muted hum to himself, Wally would simply watch for a moment— head still idly tilted to the side. He was contemplating joining you, but— after some thought decided he’d.. truly rather not do that in his night-time robes, haha! But, proposing to join you some other time, maybe with his art supplies in tow to soak in the delightful scene in his own way? Now, that sounded lovely. But, for the time being, he let you have your ‘corner’— soon turning away and beginning to walk back towards Home with a smile. A plotting one, though not devious!.. likely.. (/lhj).
He certainly just had to ask you about it, sometime!
Tumblr media
HELLOOO I hope that was enjoyable to read!!
Honestly, with how I ended up setting this up, I might write a part 2 >:] entailing him actually joining the reader, haha!!
Thank you for requesting!! Have a lovely day :]

Could you do a Barbossa x Reader one shot? Like something that has to do with love (i’m down bad) idk just fluff it’s your choice!!! (i love ur work btw)
Hello dear💖, thanks for the request.
Barbossa x femreader🍏💖
Constellation confessions 🌠💕
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: The captain teaches a young woman about the star constellations, but little did she know he was in love.
Warning: none
A/n: sorry if this is super short, I wanted to try a new style of writing. Let me know if it's good. Well enjoy! 💖.
-----
It was a tempting night, a quiet tempting night to be precise, one that made dreams come into reality. And that dream stood at the helm, heading in the wrong direction of where she really needed to go. Barbossa opened his quarters doors to correct the young miss—or rather a lesson in sailing.
“Yer headin’ in tha wrong direction missy” Captain Barbossa pointed out. “
“Fret not captain, I’ve studied the map” the young miss spoke with confidence.
“yer heading in tha direction o’ north, not east” He scoffed and firmly corrected her. “Steady on, 100 miles east”.
The girl turned her head toward him, confused. How could it not be North, perhaps the map didn’t give the correct coordinates or—someone wrote the wrong direction. The map was in English, and all the co-ordinates pointed toward the right direction. Was someone messing with her? Did someone place false directions to stall anyone who seeks the treasure? It wasn’t very clear, but y/n was certain she studied it all night. The coordinates: the use of longitude and latitude when reading a map, to know which direction to set the sails. Barbossa must’ve been thinking “just a typical landlubber”, and he wasn’t wrong. Y/n was the daughter of a merchant sailor, she hadn’t been no captain nor pirate. Just some doe eyed doll that wound up, washed up with a couple of buccaneers; one drunk and the other scary.
Y/n furrowed her brows to eye the old, saggy captain “wait? How do you know it’s not north”. 100 miles North, it must’ve been North, that’s where the co-ordinates led her—or at least she thought.
“It’s east, tha brightest star o’ tha east be Sirius not Carina” Barbossa smiled slightly with amusement. “Or did ye forget when ye ‘studied’ tha map?”.
Of course, the constellation, how stupid y/n felt. Everything on the map lead with the constellation, not like the young lass studied much of the stars anyways. Y/n rolled her eyes in annoyance “oh, right, the constellation” she muttered. The captain interrupted her annoyed tone of thought by pointing over the side of the railing at the helm.
“Avast child n’ look, Sirius” Barbossa pointed; his long, lanky finger pointing toward a star, brighter than the others. Y/n turned her head toward where the captain was pointing; ‘the star’ she thought. ‘It was beautiful’. Y/n’s eyes reflected the brightest star of the east, it was so captivating that she could only mutter out one word. “Sirius”.
The captain took over the wheel at the helm, he knew his constellations. Barbossa proudly smiled at his own correction, even if in his mind he thought the typical “landlubbers”. Y/n softly muttered while staring into the night sky “I suppose, I’m not as familiar with the stars as much as I thought”. Y/n thought to herself, was the captain some sort of astronomer? Did he study the Constellations through an astrologist of some sort? All these questions plagued y/n’s mind, she felt silly, but it did fascinate her.
“Pardon captain, but how is it, you know so much about the constellation” Y/n asked with a curious tone. The answer she received might’ve not been the one she was looking for but the thought behind the captains reason might’ve been enough.
“Did ye forget child” the captain smiled “A captain always knows which stars ta follow home”.
Y/n eyes glance up once more at the stars, thinking about the words the captain said.
“Is that so?” Y/n questioned. The words ran through her mind, over and over it was like a melody that kept playing. The girl turned and started to head inside the main quarters but not before softly muttering “a captain always knows”.
Barbossa’s smile soon turned into a frown as his eyes followed the woman leaving behind him. It hurt to say the least, it hurt to have feelings, especially when they were for someone else. Or rather—it hurt if they knew. The captain refused to say a word toward the lass, yes, indeed he would’ve once told her but, when you’re a pirate, let alone a captain. You have to hold your high end of the bargain, your work, your ego and reputation all came into play when leading a crew. He couldn’t place a finger on why he wouldn’t tell the young lass—perhaps it was his insecurity, everyone has them. It happened when he wouldn’t tell Carina who her father really was. What? did she wish to know her father was some bilge stealing buccaneer instead of an astronomer. Mabey it was a bad idea to have given her that book, the one from Galileo with the ruby to give her a new life. But instead, the book piqued her curiosity, so much so that she was dragged into one of the most dangerous adventures. Not that it mattered. What was most important was she returned safe back onto mainland and never find out the truth.
“Sirius huh?” a voice emerged behind Hector.
“Now personally, I would’ve used something a bit more flattering” the familial voice suddenly became recognisable.
“After all, she is a fine, fetching, young thing now isn’t she, however—” It was sparrow, of course, just great, just what Barbossa needed.
“Alas, the lass be not my type” Jack continued.
“Though I am curious” Jack placed a finger on his bottom chin, giving away that sly look he always had.
“Why would someone as hideous as you, want to be romantically intertwined with such a young thing like her” Jack had crossed the line.
Barbossa turned his whole body toward Jack Sparrow in anger “Would ye shut yer trap!”. He threatened “I swear sparrah, I’ll keelhaul yer off my ship”.
The captain annoyingly tried to reason with sparrow for his own stupid suspicions “Tha lass holds no room fer me in her ideal affections”.
“Fer er’ admirer be notin’ more than a swine!” the captain stormed off to other side of the railing; gripping the wooden rims like they were in his way.
Jack wondered over with his mouth frowning into a pout, curious as to ‘what he did wrong this time’. Sparrow kept quiet but watched over as the captain came out with his sudden outburst. Which to even Jack surprised him. Barbossa was one that was quite tough and confident, he was certainly a man that’s “my way or the highway”. However when it came to y/n, he wouldn’t dare say a word about anything about his softness for her. It was true, he held her in high regard and he wanted to be genuine with her however—he chose to keep his feelings a secret, well at the least until it was relevant. In his mind, he thought he wasn’t good enough for her. These feelings burrowed so much that he acted like he didn’t care nor want to give it much acknowledgement.
Jack heard the captain mutter “Yer ta not say anytin’ sparrah”. He continued “keep tha mouth o’ yers shut when she’s around or I’ll send yer ta Davy Jones’s locker”.
“Now how could you assume, that I would do such a thing” Jack smirked.
“After all mate, I’m Captain Jack Sparrow, you know you can trust me savvy” Jack pressed his hand over his chest.
“besides” he continued “A girl of her own age, probably won’t have much interest”.
Down below on the main deck near the main mast, y/n stared at the stars. They all glittered brightly as they reflected the water. As the girl looked up; she spotted the star the captain had pointed out earlier. Once more, she repeated.
“Sirius”.
Anyways that's all I have for now:

The Starburst Galaxy (Not The Candy)
The Cigar Galaxy/Starburst Galaxy, also known as Messier 82 or M82, is a breath-taking spiral galaxy located about 12 million light-years away. It is found in the constellation Ursa Major. The name Cigar comes from its shape, which looks like a long cigar in the sky. Unlike many of the other galaxies, the Cigar Galaxy is buzzing with activity. Its other name, the Starburst galaxy, comes from it producing stars at a very rapid pace. This galaxy is unique because of how close it is to us. Although 12 million light years sounds far, it is close enough for us to be able to study it from here on earth. Its distance makes it easier for scientists and astrologists to be able to study it. So, what makes the Cigar/Starburst Galaxy so interesting? Well, it's all about what's happening inside. One big reason for its busy nature is its close encounter with another galaxy called Messier 81, or M81. The gravitational pull between them is like tug-of-war in space, causing them to collide and stir up a lot of action. This collision has pushed gas and dust into the Cigar Galaxy, triggering massive amounts of star formation. That's why we see lots of bright, young stars lighting up its long arms. But that's not all that's happening with this galaxy. The Cigar Galaxy also has a massive black hole at its center. This black hole is like a cosmic vacuum cleaner, sucking in nearby gas and dust. As it eats, it shoots out powerful jets of energy, creating a space show that we can monitor from Earth. Besides the star-making and the active black hole, the Cigar Galaxy is also famous for its fireworks shows. As stars age, they grow larger and larger until they combust. These are supernova explosions, which happen when massive stars end their lives in a big bang. Because the Cigar Galaxy is such a busy place, it sees a lot of these explosions, adding to its fascinating nature. Furthermore, scientists are intrigued by the galactic winds of the galaxy. These are like cosmic gusts that blow gas and dust out of the galaxy. These gusts are caused by a combination of factors like exploding stars, intense radiation from young stars, and the gravitational pull of the black hole. These winds play a big role in shaping how galaxies evolve over time. To conclude, the Cigar Galaxy is like a tourist city in space. Its rapid star formation, active black hole, and eye-catching supernova explosions make it a hotspot for astronomers to study. By studying this galaxy, scientists hope to learn more about how galaxies grow and change over time. So, the next time you look up at the night sky, remember the Cigar/Starburst Galaxy and all the action that is unfolding millions of light-years away.

Salvage Showcase - Tadashi Asakura
Tumblr media
Now in the past I've been talking about the detective side of things concerning Danganronpa Kirigiri, so thought it'd be good for a change of pace to talk about the culprit side of matters!
For this iteration, I'm discussing the very first culprit of Danganronpa Kirigiri: Tadashi Asakura.
Summary
Tumblr media
Tadashi is one of the main characters and point of view focus for the 1st volume of Danganronpa Kirigiri. He lost his family and legs in a fire started by, allegedly, an astrologist who seemingly killed himself. Turning to medication to reduce the pain in his legs and his life effectively being ruined, he was down on his luck at the hospital when he met a scout of the Victims Catharsis Committee: Tokichiro Endo.
Endo promised him this, the same offer given to all Victims that the VCC seeks out: in exchange for risking his life in a Duel Noir to kill their Target, Tadashi will learn the truth of who actually committed the crime that cost him his family and legs. Tadashi agrees and sets up the Sirius Astronomical Observatory Duel Noir.
His Duel Noir involves him inviting Kyoko Kirigiri, Yui Samidare, Shiita Enbi, Eigo Amino and Kou Inuzaka to the observatory. From there, he would kill and dismember one of the guys to impersonate them and, after knocking out the detectives with drugged cans of coffee - he would enact the rest of his murder trick. He would take them to their rooms and would go on to kill & dismember the other guys with a pair of sheers before switching their body parts around (a practical way of trying to avoid exposing that one of them was killed earlier). After that, he planned on having Yui, the Detective for his Duel Noir, find Kyoko with the murder weapons and trick her into thinking Kyoko was the culprit.
However, both girls would come to work together and it was Kyoko that would force Tadashi to give up as she deduced that he was hiding in an armchair, using his fear of fire to make him reveal himself. With his defeat, he admits that he took up a Duel Noir to kill Kou Inuzaka - the true arsonist and culprit that ruined Tadashi's life. Shita was killed so that Tadashi could impersonate him and Eigo was murdered just to complete the trick. With his defeat, Tadashi requests for the girls to stop the VCC and the Duel Noir ,revealing that they always choose the detectives from the Detective Library. He gets apprehended seemingly by the police, but they are actually agents of the VCC. As a penalty for losing the Duel Noir, and to reclaim the funds he wasted, Tadashi is executed by means of being forced into a car that is driven off a cliff.
Tadashi is a bitter man that felt extremely lost after the arson, but when told he could take vengeance for the life he lost - he readily agreed to take up a Duel Noir. He's easily annoyed and was very skeptical of Endo's intentions, but his need to avenge and gain closure for his past, in addition to having nothing to lose, drove him to eventually take the VCC up on their offer. That said, he is very self-aware that the VCC, while it could have given him a better life and closure, was also using his vulnerable state and others. As such, he hates the VCC and their sponsors, desiring them stopped, and passes on his wishes to Yui & Kyoko.
As the Victim of Duel Noir, he holds hatred against Kou for his crimes and is glad to have murdered him. Though, given his murders of Shit and Eigo, it shows that he is not above killing innocent people if it works out for him pragmatically, and he even admits he'd kill Kyoko if she had made things difficult. He's a good actor, being able to pose as a Detective Library member without alerting suspicion, and is only really found out because of his intense trauma from his past. He considers himself the world's unluckiest underdog.
Rundown
In terms of DRK 1 the main theme going on throughout the novel is that of Status. Primarily, its refers to the rank of the detectives in the Detective Library and where they stand on the social pole. Its also the drive of the small cast we are introduced to, at least a good chunk of them. Kou committed atrocities just to raise his rank in the Library, Eigo is a kiss ass to those higher than him and look down on those lower. Kyoko's main goal is to reach into the Zero rank of the Detective Library, if only for her own goals.
But Status isn't restricted to just rank, it can also refer to those 'ranked' metaphorically in society. In Tadashi's case, his Status was pretty much at the bottom: no legs, family, and nothing really going for him aside from spending his existence on government help until he dies. He has nothing to lose, and its used to show why he'd take even a personal risk to himself by playing in the Duel Noir. It's depressing, but the story makes it clear by him, and by extension any other Victims, that their lives must truly be pretty miserable if they resort to a killing game to try to improve their odds.
It's also worth noting that, despite Tadashi's hated of Kou, he essentially went down the same path as that arsonist detective. Kou did his crimes to increase his standing at the cost of his victims livelihoods and lives. Tadashi went about his revenge, which cost the lives of two other innocent people and even framing someone (like Kou did to the astrologer). While Tadashi also wanted revenge, the shot at a better life -a better Status also fueled his motivation to go about the Duel Noir. Effectively turning himself into someone no better than Kou.
In the grand scheme of DRK and its other theme, Justice and Corruption/Catharsis, Tadashi also has his part to play in them. Tadashi, and by extension the other Victims, represents Corruption born of warped Justice. Like with other Victims in the DRK series, he seeks out Catharsis, which to him is just straight up Payback against Kou by killing him (while the other Victims are also motivated by vengeance, its also a means to an end for other, stronger, desire). And it makes sense, since he feels that he had nothing else to strive for in life.
Personal Thoughts
Despite being the starter villain of the week, Tadashi plays an important role for the DRK narrative that I feel is underappreciated (well, part of that is likely due to DRK being so obscure, but the point still stands).
Tadashi is characterized extremely well as someone firmly in the sympathetic grey. What he's done in the Duel Noir, killing and trying to frame Kyoko, is awful, but we know from the beginning why he does acts like that and its from his POV, you can't but kind of want to root for him a bit. To win and gain some semblance of a normal life back. It's what makes him and nearly all the DRK Victim villains hard to ever truly hate. He's sets the tone well for what the girls will have to go up against and serves to make the VCC pretty damn despicable given how they're manipulating people while they are down on their luck and don't think twice about killing the culprit to get their money back.
Also I thought that the whole deal with him the POV for a bit, and the killer made for an interesting dynamic. We know from the get-go that a sixth party entered Sirius and is the culprit, but don't know (when the POV switches back to Yui) where he is hiding or that he even did a switcheraroo with someone else. Kitayama did wonderful in that regards and it really served to show as a preview for just how wild the Duel Noir can become!
---
That ends this Showcase and next up is back to the chaotic world of Danganronpa Togami!! Shall I do one of the main Togami Trio, or tackle the many many many siblings of Byakuya that Kijo brought in the world? Or someone else? Think, at the very least, who ever next might be on the lighter side.

Walking through the picturesque streets of Cardinal Hill, you find Atlas Serling, the 35 year old astronomer/astrologist originally from Cardinal Hill, WA. Living alongside them in such a small town, you know that they’re insightful and eccentric, but what you might not know is that they are a witch, and that they’re hiding something… ― Harry Shum Jr., bisexual, agender, and they/them.
Tumblr media
Atlas Serling was born into an affluent family steeped in a legacy of earth-based magic and their lineage was renowned for their ability to draw wealth from the earth - they were like carbuncles—mythical creatures who could lead a person to treasure -- now, all Serlings wear a thin circlet with a gem of their choosing so it settles at the center of their forehead. From generations past, their ancestors had mined precious stones and extracted rare oils, infusing their products with magical properties that enchanted both the mundane and the mystical.
As the only child in this prestigious family, Atlas often felt the weight of expectations resting upon their shoulders. Their parents, entrenched in the traditions of earth magic, envisioned a child who would carry on the family's illustrious legacy. Yet, from an early age, Atlas found themselves drawn not to the earth but to the cosmos. While their mother and father thrived in the world of gemstones and earth, they were captivated by the stars, the mysteries of the universe, and the intricate patterns woven into the night sky.
Atlas's connection to the celestial realm perplexed their parents, who had hoped for a child who would embrace their heritage. Their father, a man of rigid beliefs and stubborn pride, became increasingly suspicious as Atlas's gifts blossomed. Convinced that their abilities were a betrayal of the family's earth-based magic, he grew convinced that his wife had been unfaithful. The truth, however, was far more complex. Atlas was the child of two earth-witches, and... they were a child of the cosmos. Yet, unable to confront the truth, Atlas’s father chose to live in denial, convinced of his wife's infidelity.
This unfounded suspicion cast a shadow over their household, creating rifts that would never fully heal. Atlas's mother was determined to nurture their child's fascination with the stars, instilling a sense of pride in their abilities. She would often take Atlas outside during the night, pointing out constellations and sharing stories of the stars, emphasizing that magic could come from both the earth and the heavens and the connection between them strengthened.
Tragedy struck when Atlas was in their early twenties, as their mother passed away in an accident. Her death marked a turning point in their life, thrusting them into a reality where their father's cold skepticism reigned unchallenged.
Upon their mother’s death, Atlas inherited not only the family wealth but also the Serling name—an essential aspect of their identity that solidified their place within the world. In her will, she had ensured that her assets would remain within the family - for their beautiful star-child, granting Atlas complete control over the estate and a substantial inheritance. This legacy was more than just financial; it was a testament to her belief in Atlas’s potential and a way to honor the connection they shared. The estate served as a base for Atlas to cultivate their passions and explore their calling.
Meanwhile, their father received a monthly allowance—a modest stipend that ensured he could maintain a small house on the outskirts of town. This arrangement allowed him to live comfortably, yet it served as a constant reminder of the choices he had made and the family ties he had severed.
With the wealth they inherited, Atlas decided to forge their own path. They envisioned an astronomy tower—an observatory that would serve as both a tourist attraction and a personal sanctuary for stargazing. This ambitious project not only fulfilled their desire to explore the stars but also created a revenue stream to sustain themselves. The tower was designed to harmonize with the landscape, featuring a grand telescope that offered breathtaking views of the night sky. It became a beacon for those drawn to the mysteries of the universe, allowing Atlas to share their passion with others while distancing themselves from the noise and bother of the town itself.
Alongside this endeavor, Atlas welcomed a familiar into their life: an albino ball python named Lyra. she provided comfort during long nights spent interpreting the movements of celestial bodies and offered a sense of connection to their mother, as Lyra's own mother had been Atlas' mother's familiar.
As Atlas navigated the worlds of astrology and astronomy, they built a community of fellow stargazers, drawing tourists and locals alike to their tower for workshops and celestial events. Their passion for the cosmos, paired with their expertise in divination, transformed the observatory into a hub of exploration, fostering a deeper appreciation for the mysteries above. Each gathering was a reminder that, while they may have felt alone in their family, they were never truly alone in their pursuit of knowledge and connection.
Despite their father’s lingering misunderstandings, Atlas found solace among the stars. They embraced their identity as an astrologer, diviner, and astronomer, using their gifts to help others uncover their destinies. With Lyra by their side, Atlas continued to explore the night sky, determined to unravel the secrets of the universe while bridging the gap between their family’s legacy and their own celestial calling. In the quiet moments beneath the vast expanse of the night sky, Atlas found a sense of peace, knowing that they were part of something far greater than themselves.
headcanons.
atlas is a little strange in that head in the clouds sort of way. they mean well, but they are often focused upwards instead of what is in front of them.
the hidden archives holds a trove of books and scrolls - all maps of the sky and potential prophecies.

What made astronomers and astrologists decide to use time measurement for distance?? Why couldn’t they just make a new word? Arc Seconds? Light Years?? Why?? I get that the speed of light affects the time at which we are viewing the object in space but I don’t care. Just use a new word!

Relationship: Family - Eiji Noguchi
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yasuo Noguchi (64 Years Old) - Eiji's father, and a highly acclaimed astrologist. He's written many books on the wonders of space and astronomy, several of which have become required reading in some universities for aspiring astronomers. He is a good family man and in his off-time, he likes to spend time with his wife and grandkids. He can occasionally be seen in his backyard at night, looking up at the stars with his telescope.
Tumblr media
Atsuko Noguchi (62 Years Old) - Eiji's mother, and a dedicated mother and wife. She's a retired historian who loved traveling to different parts of the world, finding out the mysteries of ancient civilizations. She met her husband, Yasuo, during one of these trips and love eventually blossomed with the result being three grown children. She isn't exactly sure of Eiji getting involved with Chuohku and the Prime Minister, but supports him, nonetheless.
Tumblr media
Taira Noguchi Toshiko (40 Years Old) - Eiji's older sister, and a neurochemist. She's always been fascinated by chemistry and the particles that make up a person or a thing. After years of hard work and study, she was able to graduate from university and join a science lab in Tokyo, where she is putting her smarts to good use. Despite her stern appearance, she is quite a nice person once you get to know her.
Tumblr media
Bunko Noguchi Wakabayashi (35 Years Old) - Eiji's younger sister, and a children's storybook author. At first, her heart was set on being a teacher for young kids. But after reading reports and essays she wrote for class assignments, her English university professor recommended she try her hand at writing instead. Though she was, at first, skeptical, her first storybook, Turtles by the Riverside, received the Children's Choice Book Award, which cemented her career choice. She also works as a spokesperson for her older brother's social media platform, PROFILE.
Tumblr media
Maiya Satoko Noguchi (37 Years Old) - Eiji's wife, and his "sunshine on a cloudy day". She works as both a social sciences professor and a librarian at the University of Tokyo, and is a former alumna. She and Eiji both met in college during a class project and soon began dating. Fast forward years later, and the two eventually became husband and wife. Like Bunko, she also works as a spokesperson for PROFILE. However, like Eiji's mom, she doesn't like her husband getting involved with Chuohku.
Tumblr media
Akeno Noguchi (13 Years Old) - Eiji and Maiya's son, and Una's fraternal twin. Despite his feminine appearance, he identifies as being a 'male'. He is considered the "rebellious" one out of the three due to his appearance, but he really just doesn't like to be bothered by people he doesn't know. He always keeps an eye out for Una at school since he knows how popular she is. He is a lover of food, with his mother's riceballs being his absolute favorite snack. He also cares deeply for his youngest sister, Isuzu, and wishes he could alleviate her suffering somehow.
Tumblr media
Una Noguchi (13 Years Old) - Eiji and Maiya's daughter, and Akeno's fraternal twin. Though she swears up and down that she is the older one, even her parents aren't exactly sure who was born first: her or Akeno. She is extremely popular around school, not only due to her smarts, but also her physical skills. Because of that, she is often followed around by her brother, who tries to make sure no one does anything to her. Despite her academic and physical skills, her talent for cooking leaves a lot to be desired. Like her brother, she loves and cares for Isuzu-chan.
Tumblr media
Isuzu Noguchi (2 Years Old) - The newest addition to the Noguchi family. She was born with a fatal and unknown sickness that caused her lungs to be unable to absorb enough oxygen, making it hard for her to breathe. It was believed that she would die before the age of two by doctors. Unwilling to accept that, Eiji donated millions of dollars to finding and developing a cure for his child. So far, she has adverted disaster, but Eiji knows that this is only a bandage. He will not stop until he has somehow found a way to make it so that Isuzu can live a normal life like everyone else.

Oooo boy, A Wilderness of Stars, by Shea Ernshaw. I was so exited about this one, I mean, that cover, that title! It’s about an astronomer! Unfortunately I think their ‘science advisor’ was actually an astrologist or scientologist or something, cause none of the “science” in this book was even remotely believable. Pair that with boring characters, repetitive prose, and one of the most unbelievable and cringey insta-love romances I’ve read, and this was...not good. 2/5 stars. It would have been rated lower if not for the pretty cover and title.
