Howdy dear reader! I'm your host Glagger, and today I'm here to bring you the first post in my medal analysis series for the visual novel Password by Grizz.

In this series I'll be discussing every medal in game. Talking about their signs and their important metaphorical meanings to the tale and main cast. And how their significance enriches both.

Before we can start properly. I would like to make it clear that this post has SPOILERS FOR THE NOVEL. So please, if you haven't read the novel yet, and don't want to be spoiled, leave for now.

Aquarius, the medal of Freedom, Wishes and Inaction:

The first medal we'll discuss is aquarius. Found in all routes, but further developed in Orlando's route, which is the place where its meaning is relevant.

It is found in the middle of the hedge-maze in the hand of a statue. Orlando goes on a brief tangent about how he got lost in his grandfather's castle when he was little and how his father trained him in puzzle solving to build his character and dragon masculinity at a young age after it is found. He also mentions the star sign is an air sign, making it related to freedom.

Aquarius in astrology, is the fixed positive air sign of the zodiac. Making it an inflexible, expressive sign connected to communication. Aquarius is very collectivistic and social, always wishing to work towards the greater good for everyone rather than just themselves. Constantly trying to change the world for the better, they are known for healing and spreading hope through their intellect and curiosity.

To astrology, those born under this star sign are usually energetic and eccentric in their fight for freedom. Being the progressive, rebellious and humanitarian people they are, Aquarians love fighting for idealistic causes, always attempting to see people without prejudice. They are innovative and spontaneous, liking to live life to the fullest and proudly displaying their non-traditional tastes and beliefs. Aquarians also have a deeply sensitive side that makes appreciation, support, and love, necessities in their lives.

Aquarius is currently ruled by two planets. The old ruler Saturn, that represents tradition, order, structure, and the status quo. And the modern ruler Uranus, that represents innovation, technology, progressiveness, rebelliousness and the destruction of existing structures. The combination between Saturn and Uranus' influences, causes Aquarius to be a stubborn and organized big thinker who despises authority and out-dated social structures. They sometimes forget about family and friends in the pursuit for extensive collective change, and because of this trait, they usually are seen as distant in their relationships. On the other hand, they are actually very compassionate and empathetic when reminded that big changes start in a small scale. Aquarius is the rebel and revolutionary, it tries to create something brand new from the traditions and rules it breaks free from.

In Greek myth, the water carrier the Aquarius constellation shows is Ganymede. He's the beautiful young son of Tros, king of Troy. While tending to his father's flocks on Mount Ida, Ganymede was spotted by Zeus, and the king of gods fell in love with him. He then flew down to the mountain in the form of a large bird, kidnapping Ganymede, and turning him into the cupbearer to the gods. Making him a constellation in the heavens.

Orlando himself, is a beautiful young man who's heir to a criminal king's heritage. He's an active and spontaneous gentleman, that communicates well with others and is an idealist by nature. But is inflexible in the love he feels for his toxic family and is unwilling to change that until the circumstances become so extreme, he's forced to chose between his friends and them.

He wishes desperately that his world was different, and that he could be free to express himself and his desires despite the expectations of his heritage. But does nothing to actively change his situation, accepting his fate while simultaneously wishing he could be whisked away from it.

There seems to be an interesting parallel with the idea of a powerful man falling in love with him and taking him to a paradise. Because it reflects not only his own desires, but also how he attempts to make Dean do the same to Dave. He tries getting Dean and Dave together so Dean can whisk Dave away from the mess that is the dragon's life, so Dave can be happy while away from him once he's gone for good.

Despite these adversities however, the end of his tale in both Paths A and B are marked by rebellion, freedom and the end of tradition. In path B, he directly confronts his father and kills him to protect himself and his friends. He takes over the mantle of crime boss to keep the peace and try to change things from the inside. In path A, he manages to completely restructure the mafia, turning it into an crime-free organization that has each member learn legal ways of work and actively do good to society rather than damage it.

Craig also mentions that Aquarius is the sign that flows unrestrained regardless of the whims of those around it, like time itself. Which might be the reason why it ended in a maze.

This also relates to Orlando, whose personality and desires flow unrestrained in the maze of complications that is his life. Regardless of the homophobia, cruelty and greediness of his family, Orlando is still gay, emotional, kind and empathetic. Wishing a future where can follow a profession where he can bring happiness to others by giving rather than receiving. He tries to navigate and reach the middle of this "real life emotional maze", hoping the answer to his conflict lies there.

I am a butch lesbian, married to a badass gnc (but not butch) radfem lesbian goddess whose misandry surpasses even my own; she does have tumblr but rarely uses it - @psychichologramnightmare is hers. My wife and I run our own business, and bought our first home together at 24 & 25 respectively - it's a lovely 4/3 on a quarter acre where we have 5 mango trees and more, plan to start growing our own food and herbs, foster kittens, and provide free housing (and more) regularly for those in need. Survivor of abuse, CSA + captivity, trafficking in my teens where I was forced into porn as a minor, the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando 2016, and more. I am no longer affected by any of these in any negative psychological manner. I own my past, every moment of it, and wouldn't change a thing I've experienced. What I often tell people is, "I'm not glad it happened; I'm glad I was there."

I got my Bachelor's in Neuroscience/Neuropsych, used to work in a top neuro research lab, and have been a coauthor on a peer-reviewed scientific journal publication. I wrote my undergraduate thesis on POTS, ADHD, some of the relevant epigenetics, and norepinephrine dysregulation. I was diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos & POTS in 2015, before pretty much anyone had heard of them (including most doctors). My POTS is very well-managed now, but chronic pain from EDS is more of a struggle. I recently went for testing for EDS subtype and was diagnosed with Type IV/vascular-type EDS (VEDS).

I practice "witchcraft" (kind of...) as a form of artistic expression. I don't subscribe to any literal metaphysical/supernatural/whatever set of beliefs or narrative, and have had a lifelong inability to believe in such things, but I am passionate about lesbian-centered/lesbian-exclusive (esp butch & gnc lesbian) witchcraft. I am also using this practice in part to connect further with my ancestors and their culture & way of life, but this would take a full essay to elaborate on/explain.

Adoptee with complex history. Working through a lot of feelings surrounding my ancestry - one birth parent was white, other was almost entirely indigenous Mexican (Nahua), and I have like zero personality traits in common with the former but have only been able to meet them irl not the other side - and the fact that my adoptive family (white) has not always handled things well in raising adopted kids. I only learned my full biological family history as an adult and was lied to by them about it my whole life. Which, looking back it feels like I always knew on some level, as adoptees often seem to, and it puts a lot of my childhood difficulties etc in context. Adoption-critical but not abolitionist - I plan to adopt with my wife in a couple years. I've talked a fair bit about my experiences, adoption trauma, ethical adoption, and more. I spent many years surrounded by majority-trans-identifying friends/acquaintances both irl and online, deeply involved in trans spaces & activism, and even identified for a bit & was on T for a while. I am not "uneducated" or unfamiliar with trans-identifying people, their experiences, or gender identity ideology in general. You, like me back then, very probably have been lied to about radfems ("terfs") and what we believe and fight for. I am happy to talk in good faith (provided you do the same) 1 on 1 with anyone who is curious about what we actually believe and what we stand for, what common radfem takes on gender identity ideology & trans identity actually are and why.

I have a history of purely physical sex dysphoria (physical sensation like pain or itching). I got "top surgery" (elective mastectomy) due to this and other reasons: constant painful breast cysts & very large breasts (DDD even when I weighed under 100 lbs). I was not trans-identifying by the time I got this surgery (though I tried to briefly identify as nb/transmasc just bc I felt obligated, but hated it). I have never wanted to be a man socially and genuinely hated the very thought. I came out the womb feminist, got in trouble throughout primary school for fighting boys who tried to pull sexist bullshit, always lowkey believed in female superiority (I mean just look at our biology, lifespans, pain tolerance, the things we've done throughout history despite violent patriarchal oppression...). I spent years preparing myself. I read from & spoke to women who regretted this surgery, challenged myself at every turn, dove deep into my mind and thought processes, tried alternative treatment attempts, worked with a non-affirming therapist, made sure my past traumas were fully healed, and waited until I was in my mid-twenties so my brain was more or less fully matured. I have no regrets about it. I still have some (still purely physical sensation) dysphoria ("phantom male genitals" type of thing) at times, but have come to manage this very well. More on this here.

So 2016 was a weird year, wasn’t it? Brexit, Harambe, Trump, clown attacks, The Orlando Shooting, Syria. Things got weird, and then, in 2017 they got weirder. I think it’s fair to say 2020 was the weirdest of years and things are still pretty weird now, to the extent that normality starts to feel, in itself, weird.

I would never want to blame everything on one astrological aspect, but it has to be noted, the 2016-2025 Pluto-Eris square maps really well onto this period.

This year, for the first time in years, the Eris Pluto Square let up a little bit. We’re heading back into it now as Pluto retrogrades back towards Capricorn. But for the first time in a while this particular energy has cleared, leaving us to see what normality looks like without this square active.

What is Pluto-Eris Energy?

People often talk about Pluto and Eris as the Higher Octaves of Mars, but this is inaccurate. It’s useful to say because our society is obsessed with the idea of higher, transcendental truths and astrologers who study new astrological objects are going to want to associate their findings with higher truths because that’s good capitalism. But it would be more accurate to say that Pluto is a lower octave of Mars and Eris is a lower octave still. 

Mars covers all the planets in the zodiac in just 2.1 years. Its time in any one sign is measured in months. Pluto takes 244 years and its time in any one sign is measured in about a generation. Eris has a 557 year cycle and because its orbit is extremely elliptical it’s in Aries from 1922 to 2044 - 122 years, or 21.9% of this entire cycle. 

What this means is that in terms of octaves Pluto and Eris are much lower and slower than Mars. This seems to give them an element of depth. If Mars is attraction, Pluto is obsession. If Mars is violence, Pluto is trauma. If Mars is energised, Pluto triggers the survival drive. I’d argue Eris goes deeper still. It is cutting so deep that what you get to are the things that can’t be removed. 

When Eris and Pluto meet you have irreconcilable differences, major conflicts, things that are foundational to society coming into conflict. This is especially true this cycle. 

This Eris - Pluto cycle began with the conjunction on 17 December 1756 at 18°36 of Sagittarius. Despite this they had their waxing square, waxing trine, opposition, waning trine and waning square while Pluto was in Aries and that’s where Eris will be for their waning sextile. Eris is in 6 signs during this Eris-Pluto cycle but all but two of the key aspects happened with Eris in Aries so has an active, martial energy to it.

If you’re following this, and agree with me that Eris is fundamental planet alongside Pluto, you will be unsurprised to hear the last Pluto-Eris square was 1936-1949 and was at its strongest during World War Two.

What this means for us now

2024 is the last hurrah for the current Eris-Pluto Square. It’s not as strong as it’s been in the past but it’s still an underlying important energy of our time. In 2024 over half the world’s population is having an election and in the UK, USA and India the far-right are leading the conversation. We have ideological conflicts, a moral imperative to engage in anti-fascist work and deep fears for how this period will impact the survival of all of us, but especially the most vulnerable people. 

We know this energy. If you’ve been fighting in this time, you probably have the methods to fight ready to go when the next inevitable crisis comes up. But there’s a bigger problem coming up and that’s normality. What happens when the current square ends and the fight for marginalised people stops being such a fiery spectacle? For years the fight against global fascism has been massive, dramatic, and very visible. What happens when there is no crisis and we’re stuck with the new normal that’s emerged from all this? 

Sadly, it seems unlikely that the end of the Eris-Pluto square will be the end of extreme violence, fascism, and war. What I would expect is these conflicts becoming more a matter of attrition and normalisation - the banality of evil. The genocides continue, but they no longer shock us. 

The promise offered by the astrology of Eris and Pluto is that we come out of the Eris-Pluto Square into a quintile, where the skills and experience we’ve gained harden into a playbook of methods to keep fighting. We have experience and we have knowledge and we keep going.

In natal astrology

The oldest people with an Eris-Pluto square in their birth charts are now eight. That’s still young but this is a generation that’s going to come up and start looking into astrology before you know it. Mars-Pluto squares in a birth chart are often indication of pretty bad trauma. Eris-Pluto Squares in charts will mean an early childhood defined by traumatic experiences. Just the nature of being raised by parents experiencing the pandemic ensures that. The astrology indicates that this generation could replicate some of that trauma throughout their life and astrologers will be seeing that for years to come. 

As most astrologers don’t use Eris, I would argue they’ll be cutting themselves off from a key diagnostic criteria that would really help explain the lives of the 2016-2025 generation. But whatever. There are usually more than one tell for a traumatic experience in a chart. The underlying, fundamental, Eris-level truth of this square that all of us have to face is a generation who will need care and time and understanding beyond what we might expect looking at their lives now. We can do that, that’s what we need to offer younger generations.

grew up with a single father after a bitter divorce from her mother until he met his new wife when she was six (6). they got married a year later and she gained a step-brother, two years younger than her.

This is a long running passion project that has been in the works since after path P dropped to the public in full. The prime (ha) goal of it, is to discuss and analyze in-depth the astrological theme used in Password.

My birthday is coming soon (May 8, in fact!), and I'll be turning 31.

Birthdays are always exciting to me! Mine and others'. Holidays are all well and good, but what's better than special days for special people?? And while my feelings towards myself aren't always kind, it does my soul good to have a reason to celebrate myself. Birthdays make a good excuse for all manner of frivolities!

As it happens, my solar return (for my astrology lovers) is on May 9 this year. So of course it makes sense to celebrate both days, right? 😄 Solar returns are like personal New Years, as I read in an article recently; a time for reflection on what brought us here, and looking forward to what's ahead.

In the past I've paid little mind to solar returns, but this feels like a good year for it. I'm fresh out of my Saturn return (big yikes), and working really hard on being kinder to myself, and other methods of self-care.

The original version of this post was a bit more maudlin and self-deprecating, which serves no one, so instead I'm here to share only the good bits. The bits that deserve more focus.

This year, I'm giving myself the gift of 2 weeks worth of PTO! 2 weeks of no work! The first week will be a much needed staycation, while the second week (my birthday week!) will be spent in Orlando, Florida with my partner. Also: May means Snarry-a-Thon, and truly what better gift can a gal have than the gift of Snarry?

My three decades on earth have been challenging, to say the least, but I got through them. I've grown a lot in my time. I was a girl with grandiose plans and insurmountable fears. Now I'm a woman who sees magic in everything, and who moves ahead in spite of fear. I'm a soft and sensitive lady, badly bruised by life, but I keep my heart and my mind open all the same. I have so much love in me I share with others, that I'm learning now to share with myself.

There is so much joy and pleasure I've found in this world, even in the darkest of my days. I've told many stories, and I've danced to many songs, and I've made a heck of a lot of cookies. There is always something to laugh over, or smile at. There are always adventures to be had, big and small.

Today I'm going to spend time with family. This upcoming week I'm going to spend time with myself, resting and letting myself be. I plan to reach Level 31 having the time of my life with the love of my life. I choose to be thankful for coming as far as I have. And I choose to be thankful for myself, and all of my strangeness and silliness.

The Astrology of Muses: A Vedic Exploration 🎨🖌👫💏

Claire Nakti observed that Ketu being the root or tail of the dragon is the source of our creativity. So whatever we channel during the process of art making is reflective of our Ketu, its placement etc. While I agree with this observation, I'd also like to add that Venus is also very important in determining the creativity, creative nature and career of an individual, as well as who or what they seek inspiration from.

Obviously Sun-Moon relationships and other aspects with luminaries can also determine how we connect to and draw inspiration from others.

First of all, let's understand what a muse is.

A muse is defined as a person (often, a woman but not always) who serves as a source of artistic inspiration creativity, and passion for the artist.

In mythology, the Muses were nine goddesses who symbolized the arts and sciences. 

There is a spiritual reason why women serve as the source of creativity for others. This is because of them being Yin, inwardly expansive and vessels that can be receptive to a variety of influences. Water is the most feminine element and the ability of water to take the shape of whatever's its poured into is very important in this context. Water is life giving but it can also be destructive and turbulent. All of these are very telling about feminine nature.

Anyways, let's look through some artist-muse relationships in history and pop culture.

F Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda Fitzgerald

Probably one of the most famous literary romances. Zelda was Scott's lover, wife and muse. They had a very tumultuous marriage; Zelda was diagnosed with schizophrenia and Scott was an alcoholic but they also enjoyed immense popularity and success early on in their marriage and career.

It is now known that Scott plagiarized much of his work from the diaries and letters of his wife, Zelda and was controlling & abusive towards her when she expressed interest in furthering her own literary career.

Both of them had Mars in Mrigashira as their atmakaraka

Scott had Ketu in Ashlesha & his muse, Zelda was Ashlesha Rising (and mercury which was her amatyakaraka)

2. Vita Sackville West and Virginia Woolf

They were both married to different men when they began their affair with each other. They significantly influenced each other's work; Vita wrote Seducers In Ecuador dedicated to Virginia, while Virginia's Orlando was about Vita. The relationship lasted until Virginia's death in 1941.

Vita was Uttara Ashada Rising, whereas Virginia had Venus in Uttara Ashada

Vita had Venus in Aswini and Virginia was Aswini Moon

3. Ingrid Bergman & Roberto Rossellini

They began an affair when she was still married to her husband whilst filming the movie Stromboli. She got pregnant and they later got married.

While the movies Bergman made with Rossellini were commercial failures, the films have garnered great appreciation and attention for their contribution to Italian Neo-realism.

Bergman was Magha Sun, Venus & Rising, whereas Rossellini was Magha Rising

He had Rahu in Ashlesha and she had Ketu in Ashlesha

4. Lillian Gish & D.W Griffith

Lillian Gish is called "The First Lady of American Cinema"; she was a muse to the first influential filmmaker in Hollywood, D.W. Griffith. She appeared in his ground breaking movies The Birth of a Nation (1915), Intolerance (1916), Broken Blossoms (1919) and Way Down East (1920).

D.W Griffith was Ashlesha Moon with Mars in Vishaka atmakaraka and Ketu in Chitra

Lillian Gish had Chitra Sun, Venus & Saturn (amatyakaraka) in Vishaka and Ketu in Ashlesha

5. Norma Shearer & Irving Thalberg

Norma Shearer would be dubbed the First Lady of MGM for not only being the contracted actress with the most box-office appeal but also the wife of studio head Irving Thalberg.

Thalberg, was a film executive who was called the  “boy wonder of Hollywood” who, as the production manager of MGM, was largely responsible for the studio’s prestigious reputation.

Shearer and Thalberg were married in 1927, after which Shearer had her pick of films, parts, costars, and directors, and she used this advantage to avoid being typecast. Thalberg largely directed her career until his death in 1936.

She played sexually liberated ingenues in the 1920s & 30s and is now considered a feminist icon.

everything was fine...

until the commute back home from work

i'm feeling a little under the weather and have been since Wednesday, so I'm blowing my nose like crazy and trying very hard to get some rest but it's not working too good

but the first bus was fine, some stranger with his shirt off started asking me shit that i knew nothing about (1)

then it poured when i went to the second bus (2)

while i was waiting on the third bus, some old guy was shouting at himself spiritual crap until a bus comes (3)

along the way, it showered, then when it cleared, i heard possible gunfire and one blasted off that there came out thick black smoke -- this has got to be atypical for a friday, but this is one of the many hoods in Orlando, so there ain't no telling (4)

then when the third bus didn't show up after waiting for maybe a half hour, i took a bus to another direction and stopped at a convenience store to grad something to eat for tonight and then when i was shopping for soda, one idiot thought it was okay to arrive at the store shirtless, which i believe triggered an employee :/ (5)

then when i got something to eat i walked across the street when it rained for a bit again (6)

i'm thankful i didn't get too caught up in the rain because walking in the rain sometimes makes me sick, and I'm sick already, so...

it was so weird for a Friday, but then again, (astrology speak) mercury is in retrograde and there's a moon void of course (ideal name for a rock band, by the way)
