I went with a middle of the road height for that @commander-gloryforge and I'm dying.

i have in fact already made myself in gw2 about 8 years ago. its me!

(though the hair colour is long out of date, but if i changed my characters hair everytime i changed my hair irl, id run out of money quickly)

and now my main astrid to compare! both are currently holosmiths actually, but that's about it when it comes to similarities :,,)

idea: make yourself in gw2 (either just in makeover kit or as an actual character, idk im not your mom; also not limited to humans), then compare it with your main

So I finally managed to finish my EU batch of Art Party drawings.

I realize now that I got a little TOO excited and took a lot of screens so uhh next time I'll have to limit myself.

The colors in some of the screens were weird so I adjusted for lighting (hopefully I got it right)

I'm new to the party, tell us about Astrid

HI YES!!! HI!!!

so astrid is my commander (or one of them) and shes a norn engineer!

she's my youngest commander (excluding my sylvari comm who, you know, is 0) and she was about 15 when the personal story started, soon being the youngest member of the vigil to ever become warmaster. shes young and impulsive and maybe that shows in her early leadership, wanting much and not knowing anything. shes good at fighting and killing and winning, but she's also a child that never learned how to grief, thrown into a position of leadership. she forces herself into the role of the commander and adapts- pretends to adapt quickly.

but time goes on and the world gets closer to its end, you know it, the typical commander happenings. she loses more and more people that are dear to her as time goes on. both of her fathers died when she was really young, then it was the enxt father figure that died, forgal, then eir, who has pretty much raised her after the rest of her family died.

she finds comfort in dragons watch, especially taimi and braham, who are around the same age as her and, just like her, never really got to be children, instead being pushed into adventure and saving the world and losing everyone they loved.

shes tall :3 really big and huge :3 max height norn at the start of sthe story, and she keeps on growing. because of magic, mostly. shes big. by the time she hits soto she's honestly not much shorter than peitha

braham seeing astrid for the first time after PoF and he's still hurt and annoyed by her but also his heart begins to ache so terribly because she changed. her clothing and weapons and fighting style and her eyes changed. and her hair which she's always loved is cut short. and she's covered in burn scars.

and even though braham still wants to be angry and still wants to just Not Care about her, he cant help but think what happened to her when i wasnt there for her

he will try to guess what happened. based on the little information the others will give him. but they will never actually tell him, and he wont ask astrid. even a year or two later he still doesnt know. kas still tears up when he asks. rytlock sighs and shakes his head and says that it doesnt matter. taimi tells him to just ask for himself. but he never will. he just thinks up his own stories.

he'll never guess that she died though. maybe one day he will figure it out. years later when wounds have healed. when their friendship is as deep as it can be. maybe then he figures it out because astrid is willing to talk about it. maybe she mentions it on the side. like it isnt important anymore. its been years, and she is alive right now, so why does it matter. but it matters to braham, like really really matters to him.

okay tags wont be enough so heres a post about my naming method.

short version: lore friendly, keysmash, fantasynamegenerators.com, other languages, they just come to me

long version:

generally firstnames often just come to me. i do try to make sure theyre lore accurate though

fantasynamegenerators.com is my best friend for general inspiration but i never really just take a name from there without changing it at least a bit. i use it mostly for asura and charr name inspiration

for sylvari i just put together random letters until it sounds good- sometimes they get a last name that they gave themselves/earned (such as Rian Starbloom, a name he took as he lives among humans and wanted to adapt to their firstname-lastname naming scheme)

my sylvari also often get names that i then shorten (Daeonna is usually Dae, Merrydan is Mer, and i dont even remember Rye's full name)

asura usually are also just letters smashed together, and they usually get titles (Arachnologist Kiko, Pirate Captain Iz, Iira The Cruel)

When it comes to last names, i really like using the typical fantasy word-word last name. sometimes i just decide that the characters family simply has a super sick last name (Dean Skygleam- thats just what his family is called idc) and sometimes these surnames are titles/names they gave themselves (Astrid Gunbjornsdottir becoming Astrid Gloryforge, Ambrosius Wolf becoming Ambrose Wolfsbane, Nakayama Junko becoming Junko Haloglow)

sometimes my characters keep their "normal" surname (Nadira Hinnawi, Léa Grey, Liang Haoyu, Luna Montenero, Kang Eunji, Liv Sylvasdottir)

when i started playing and was 12 years old i did not care about lore accurate names and just went for whatever felt cool in the moment. im starting to do that again because being 20 is the same as being 12.

4. Is there an NPC your commander doesn't care for at all?

Astrid: She was really pissed all the time during IBS and she really has zero attachments to Crecia (and a lot of charr allies of that time). She hated how anything was handled and how everything went down and after IBS she never really thought about Crecia again.

Nona: Oh phew that's hard because she technically hasn't met most of the NPCs yet. I do know that she's going to have very strong opinions about some characters but I can't yet really think of any that she wouldn't care for at all.

10. Are there other OCs of yours or someone else's that your commander travels with?

Astrid: None! She exists in a universe completely seperate from almost all my other OCs

Nona: Also none, but I'm thinking about perhaps making her a companion (girlfriend) in the future :3c

11. What is your commander's favorite in world holiday?

Astrid: She probably used to love Dragon Bash the most, especially when they started hosting it in Hoelbrak and she finally had a reason to return home, but I'm not sure how much she still enjoys it with. You know the implications. She does also love Wintersday!

Nona: HALLOWEEEEEEN!!!! Goth cat loves spooky season naturally. She adores it. The first year she got out of Ascalon and actually got to experience Halloween in Lion's Arch is one of her fondest memories!
