mcd is a deeply flawed series but it has just enough potential to drive me crazyyy

imo it does decline in quality in season 3, but thats mainly because i disagree with a lot of the creative choices made in that season, both visually and writing-wise.

im honestly a season 1 supremacist, i think it was charming.

also, i will FOREVER be shaking my fist at the sky over what they did to zane in mystreet and mcd s3. he was SUCH a great villain--because despite existing in a fantasy world and having goals such as "being more magically powerful", he is fundamentally a villain who is very real: someone who uses systematic power and privilege to benefit themselves and hurt others. that balance of dramatic fantasy goals with extremely realistic means of achieving them makes for a GREAT villain. not to mention the drama kestin howard brings to the role as his voice actor! it all makes him a really compelling and fun villain. but jess seems to not quite understand what makes her own character so good, and keeps fuckin. declawing him. and in mcd s3 its the worst because she clearly still WANTS him to be a scary villain but she doesnt understand what made him scary in the first place! it wasnt his apathy to the destruction he caused, it was that coupled with how easy it was for him to get away with it, with the sheer amount of privilege he wields as the wealthy son of the lord of o'khasis and the high priest of the region's major religion. take that away (by, oh, i dont know, making the world think he's dead?) and he's all bark, no bite. he's just another small-time sadist going on a rampage across the continent, waiting for a hero to take him down. he no longer looms as a larger-than-life threat. it makes him feel, in comparison to his earlier appearances, like a child throwing a tantrum.

so your last Inscrutable machine post i found was from 2015 BUT. i figure ur probably still one of the best people i could possibly find to ask. so im trying to like. put the trio into a magical girl setting but i cannot for the LIFE of me figure out any extra things to give them. ray in particular is giving me trouble. idk if youd have any ideas at all but hey i figured no harm in asking

ray is basically PRIME for being the ~dark magical boy~/antihero flip flopping between helping and fighting against the heroines tbh. i don't know if you're making them all villains according to canon or just going for straightforward hero(in)es, but ray would fit SO well into a character archetype like ikuto from shugo chara (iirc anyway, it's been a while), wherever penny and claire are.

What if at some point Alcor got pseudo-bound or severely weakened to the point that he was unable to manifest in the physical realm on his own?

There’s just so many cool concepts that can come out of it! And with him becoming so isolated from any natural human contact, I bet he’d be less and less hesitant to go to extreme measures to get to the physical realm.

On Alcor’s official wiki page, it says that while he is a dream demon, he eventually has the skills of ALL demon types (which include BODY SNATCHERS!!!)

So here’s a list of some spooky concepts that I like

Body snatching. Imagine a Mizar, she’s just learned that she’s forever connected with the most notorious demon in history. (who’s been seen very little in the past decades) To make things even more disturbing, whenever he visits her, he does so by taking over the body of anyone nearby.

Or with a slightly different route, dead bodies. possessing them long past their due date, holding on even after all the muscular systems had rotted away, holding the skeleton together with sheer will. Only letting go once the bones had disintegrated beyond recognition.

Trapped in shadows. (A version of it was done in the lovely fic “We Live, We Love, We Lie” by @astralcurses ) in a broader version, he could be confined to all shadows, easily kept out by well-lit rooms and reflectors. The real problem starts when he manages to contact Al-V (who proceeds to hack all light tech and maximize shadows in the entire state.) But it’s not like he could do anything anyway, shadows can’t leave the wall. (Right?)

Trapped in mirrors. Was this blatantly inspired by the movie “Mirrors”(2008) that I only ever read the Wikipedia page for? Absolutely. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, he’s basically just be able to appear in any mirror, (by possessing people’s reflections) and be able to force people to do things by making them mirror their reflection. Or he could just look like himself but only be able to travel through reflections.

I’ve had this in my drafts for a few months now, so I don’t think I should let it rot any longer.
