Shout Outs
Pianist Yael Weiss held a livestream for her first-ever recital 32 Bright Clouds: Beethoven Conversations Around the World on January 24 at the Strathmore Mansion in Washington D.C. The recital paired Beethoven piano sonatas with newly-commissioned short piano compositions from different parts of the world. Watch the archived version of the recital here.
The Un-Heroic Act: Representations of Rape in Contemporary Women’s Art in the U.S. exhibition at John Jay College’s Shiva Gallery was #5 on Hyperallergic’s Best of 2018: Our Top 20 NYC Art Shows. The exhibition was also featured in Art in America’s “Critical Eye: Art in the Age of Sexual Disruption” article, which takes a deep dive into the themes and backstories related to the pieces shown in the exhibition. Read the commentary here.
