daedalus, the inventor (asteroid 1864)
Tumblr media
Daedalus was the infamous creator of the Labyrinth in which the Minotaur dwelt. He was given the task of building the Labyrinth after helping Minos wife have sexual relations with a bull - which lead to the birth of this beast (the Minotaur) that Minos then hid under his court in Crete. The Athenian king was forced to pay tribute to Minos - the cost would be seven men and seven women annually to be sacrificed to the Minotaur. After the Labyrinth was built, Daedalus was kept imprisoned in a tower with one of his sons, Icarus. They were imprisoned as a means to avoid news spreading that the Labyrinth existed. Of course, Daedalus couldn't stand this turn of events and instead created wings by melting together feathers using wax. Which, as we know, does not end well for Icarus who drowns in the sea after ignoring the advice of his father. Daedalus ended up in the court of Cocalus who lived in Sicily. In Sicily, he built a temple for Apollo, whom Daedalus presented his wings to as an offering. Minos, meanwhile, searched for Daedalus and devised a plan to lure him out - he made a riddle and when he discover Cocalus had the qnswer he know he had been harboring Daedalus, he demanded Daedalus to return to Crete. Cocalus told Minos to relax a bit as his guest, then the two could be on their way, but when Minos went to bathe, Cocalus' daughters murdered him. IN MY OPINION Daedalus in your chart can represent a) out of the box thinking, b) creativity/innovation, c) boundaries between your wishfulness to create and morality, d) where you hide or are forced to hide, and/or e) your appreciation for puzzles.
Tumblr media
i encourage you to look into the aspects of daedalus along with the sign, degree, and house placement. for the more advanced astrologers, take a look at the persona chart of daedalus AND/OR add the other characters involved to see how they support or impede daedalus!

ariadne, the abandoned helper (asteroid 43)
Tumblr media
Daughter of Pasiphae and the Cretan king Minos, Ariadne was most known for her role in the myth of Theseus with whom she feel in love. Theseus was one of the many heroes who Minos meant to abandon in the Labyrinth with the Minotaur. But Theseus was a rarity in the Labyrinth as he volunteered to be sent in and kill the beast. Ariadne provided him with what he required as she was lovestruck by the hero. Theseus was capable of slaying the Minotaur with the sword she gave him and with a golden ball of thread, he found his way out of the Labyrinth. After this point in the myth, there are two popular endings: in one she hangs herself after Theseus abandons her, and in the second Theseus takes her to the island of Naxos and leaves her there to die. In the both versions, she is recused by and ends up marrying Dionysus. IN MY OPINION Ariadne in your chart represents a) where you give everything you have, b) what you lose when facing romantic rejection, c) where you easily fall in love, and/or d) where you must first face rejection in order to find love.

androgeos, the competitive (asteroid 5027)
Tumblr media
Son of King Minos and Pasiphae, Androgeus was the brother of Ariadne. He was one of the competitors of the first Panathenaic Games, famously known for its athletics/cultural events. It is Androgeus's death that is most interesting - in some versions, he his killed during the games by his rivals, but in others, he is sent by King Aegeus to confront the Marathonian Bull. In the bull version, he is ran though with one of the bull's horns and bleeds out. Whether he is murderer by his competition or a raging bull, Androgeus's death is blamed on the Athenians - Minos sends an army and a naval fleet to avenge his son. When the Athenians begin to lose to the Cretes, they consult an oracle who tells them to pay tribute to Crete. Every year hence, the Athens sent seven men and seven women to Minos who then sent these people into the labyrinth to face the Minotaur. IN MY OPINION Androgeos in your chart can represent a) how you represent your country / nationalism, b) what/who is out to get you, c) how others avenge you, and/or d) where terrible things that happen to you is just the inciting incident for worse things to come.

talos, the bronze man (asteroid 5786)
Tumblr media
Talos is likely this first myth to indicate sci-fi in history if not then within Greek Antiquity. This gigantic bronze man, also known as an automaton, was either created by Hephaestus as a gift to Minos meant to guard Crete or Talos was the last of the third age of man ("Brazen Race") and Zeus gave him to Europa as a gift of affection. Either way the automaton was tasked with guarding Crete. There is speculation that Achilles never had a "weak heel" and that part of the myth comes from Talos, whose only weakness was his ankle. The giant bronze man had a single vein that flowed with the blood of the gods - ichor. The giant ran around Crete three times each day to survey for possible uninvited guests - when Jason arrived with the Argonauts, Talos tried to hurl boulders at the ship to ward them off but Jason at the time was traveling with Medea. Medea climbed out of the ship and bewitched Talos into slicing his ankle on a sharp rock, killing Talos. Others believe that Medea tricked Talos into standing still while Jason loosen the bolt of the automaton’s heel draining the creature of his life source. IN MY OPINION Talos in your chart can represent a) your thoughts on technology and the scientific future, b) where you are a gift, c) where you protect others the best, d) where you are both physically strong and vulnerable, and/or e) where/why standing still instead of doing your routine does you harm.

icarus, the winged man (asteroid 1566)
Tumblr media
Icarus was the son of Daedalus, the infamous inventor of Greek mythology (i am sure we can all recall his invention that helped Pasiphae have sex with the Creatan bull? yea? remember that? well same guy lol). As some of you may know, Minos blamed Daedalus for the minotaur's existence then had him create the labyrinth. Later, when Theseus killed the Minotaur with the help of Ariadne, Minos's daughter, who gave Theseus the claw that Daedalus made - Minos was again displeased with Daedalus (the labyrinth was supposed to be inescapable and Theseus escaped WITH HIS DAUGHTER). Minos made Daedalus and Icarus prisoners in one of his palace's tower. Icarus was a young man - restless and wishing to see the world. Daedalus pitied him and wished for an escape himself so he made wings. Daedalus planned that they would fly away from this place and escape Minos. Daedalus's wings were made of feathers and wax - he taught his son to fly and warned him never to fly too close to the sun because the warmth would melt the wax and never too low else the feathers would get too wet and too heavy to fly. Together they leapt from the tower. Icarus had forgotten his fathers warning and flew too high, the sun (because he felt like a god with this invention) began melting the wax. As his wings fell apart, he found himself tumbling through the air and into the sea where he drowned or died on impact. In Ovid's Metamorphoses, this act is often referred as having too much ambition and falling prey to hubris. IN MY OPINION Icarus in your chart can represent a) where you are punished for your father’s wrongdoings, b) where you yearned to be free or travel, c) where in life you should be careful of being to ambitious or of your own hubris, d) your experience with flight, e) where you momentarily feel like a god, and/or f) where you ignore or forget a vital warning.

ganymede, the cupbearer (asteroid 1036)
Tumblr media
Ganymede is the son of the Trojan king, Tros,(sometimes referred to as Laomedon) and the Lady Callirhoe. Ganymede is famously known as Zeus's first male lover. In his eagle form, Zeus carried the beautiful boy to the heavens to be a cupbearer (in some versions, it is Minos who brings him to Zeus). Zeus pays Tros with immortal horses in exchange for his son. Ganymede is also connected to the constellation Aquarius; allegedly, Zeus turns the image of Ganymede into the constellation of the water-bearer to ease the pain of Ganymede's mother (get it? he was the nectar pourer). Ganymede's age is not explicitly noted in any myths, so, unfortunately, we can only assume he was rather young based on descriptions. And even more unfortunate, this is the first homosexual myth and it starts with the rape of Ganymede (thus the first act of pedophilia enacted by Zeus). In the turn of events there after, Zeus offers to make Ganymede immortal in order to serve the gods forever. Later, Ganymede falls in love with Zeus. IN MY OPINION Ganymed in your chart can represent a) where you are seen as too beautiful for your present situation, b) where you are taken away from home, c) where you break a pattern in your lover’s type, d) where you mark a beginning of an era, e) pedophilia and rape, f) stockholm syndrome, and/or g) homosexuality.

hercules, greek hero who performed the twelve labors (5143)
“when talking about such a popular god, goddess, or hero i am going to for warn paraphrasing - of course all these stories have more details and all these popular gods have stories within stories. i would love to share them all/in detail but i would need a book and a lot more time to write it. my attempt in writing these posts are to inform you on the high level story of the god’s or goddess’s life. that being said if any one of the events regaled in the post pique you interest - please let me know i don’t mind giving a more in-depth tale of any of the events mentioned.”
hercules (the non-disney version).
Tumblr media
Hercules is the son of Zeus and Alcmene (sometimes listed Amphitryon - the grandchild of Perseus, the hero who slew Medusa). Zeus, of course, courted Alcmene in secret - the night of Hercules's conception, Alcmene disguised herself as her husband Amphityon after sleeping with him, in order to sneak out to Zeus. In this myth and having slept with two men on that night, nine months later, Alcmene gives birth to Iphicles and Hercules (lol twins? medically speaking, unlikely due to the DNA that is unshared between the two). Hera learns that Hercules is Zeus's demi-god son and immediately is enraged - sending snakes into the cradle of the two newborns. Hercules strangles these creatures, whilst Iphicles cries. In most myths, after this occurrence, there is a time jump (sometimes not: Hercules kills his music teacher, Linus, accidentally in a fit of rage, thereafter he faces a fate who wishes him to choose between a happy, unmarketable life and tragic, rememberable life - he chooses neither) in which Hercules is a man, father of many children, and a slayer of the Cithaeron Lion. This lion was thought to have preyed on Amphitryon's and Thespius's flocks of sheep. After hunting the lion for fifty some days, Hercules famously donned the skin of the lion, creating the deadhead of the beast - showing he was the top predator. Thespius's way of thanking Hercules was then having his daughters sleep with Hercules. After his youth Hercules marries the Theban King Creon's daughter, Megara. Hera, not having forgotten her spiteful ways, cursed Hercules. Hercules ends up slaughtering his family members in a fit of madness caused by Hera (sometimes he kills just Megara, sometimes just the children, and sometimes all of the above). To atone for his crimes Hercules visits a Pythia who informs him to seek his cousin Eurystheus and do whatever he asks of him.
Thus the Twelve Labors of Hercules are born. First, the Nemean Lion whom Hercules killed with his bare hands because the lion's skin was invulnerable. After slaughtering the creature, he shed the Cithaeron Lion's fur to wear the Nemean Lion's like armor. Second, Lernaean Hydra whom Hercules killed with the help of his nephew, Iolaus, who cauterized the site of decapitation each time Hercules lobbed off a head to prevent new heads from growing back. After defeating this creature, Hercules coated his arrows in the creature's poisonous blood. Third, the Ceryneian Head who was requested to be brought back alive to Eurystheus, who wished to give it to Artemis. This doe was thought to have antlers and breath fire - making this not as easy a feat. Fourth, Erymanthian Boar. Fifth, Augean Stables which involved cleaning the stables of King Augeas's immortal cows. Sixth, Stymphalian Birds, the man-eating birds in which Hercules's shot down with his poisonous arrows after scaring them out of hiding by using Athena's gifted rattle. Seventh, Cretan Bull as we recall from the Minos post, Minos had deprived Poseidon of his sacrifice - Hercules captured the bull and gave it to Eurystheus who release's it in the city of Marathon (later, Theseus kills the Cretan Bull because it terrorizes this city). Eighth, steal the Mares of Diomedes - these flesh eating horses were lured away by Hercules who fed them his own horse. Ninth, steal the Girdle of Hippolyta - the Amazonian queen received this gift from her father, Ares (which shows the militant nature of the Amazons she led), yet Hercules defeated them. Tenth, steal the Cattle of Geryon who were guarded by Orthrus, the two-headed dog - Hercules ends up killing the dog, Geryon, and Geryon's shepherds. After these first ten Hercules was supposed to be even but it was Eurystheus who demanded two more. Eleventh, the Golden Apples of the Hesperides. How Hercules learns of the location of these apples varies; in some he asks Prometheus who is set free by Hercules, in others, Hercules captures Nereus. Either way he finds his way to the garden to discover Hera's guard - Ladon, the dragon. Sadly, Hercules kills the beast but can't get into the garden because the creature's body is in the way. This causes Hercules to ask Atlas to get them - Hercules says he will take on Zeus's task to Atlas (holding up the heavens) whilst he gets them. Atlas agrees and retrieves the fruit but attempts to leave Hercules to hold the heaven's. Hercules tricked Atlas into taking it back and then leaves Atlas there to continue holding up the heavens. Twelfth, retrieving Cerberus from the Underworld - he convinces Hades into letting him borrow the creature.
Many years after these tasks, as we recall from the Nessus post, Deianira naively gives Hercules a tunic which peels and burns away his skin. Hercules dies in agony - after his death ceremony, he becomes a god of Olympus and Hera allows him to marry Hebe. IN MY OPINION Heracles in your chart represents a) where you are godly in the mortal realm, b) if/how you are a womanizer, c) where you are the best at hunting/searching/tracking, d) where you may feel a higher being is out to get you, e) where you atone for doing horrible things by doing horrible things, f) the tasks you may be forced to do, and/or g) where you feel betrayed by those you love.

minos, king of crete and judge of the dead (asteroid 6239)
Tumblr media
Minos was the son of Zeus and the Phoenician princess, Europa. It was with Poseidon's help that he was placed on the throne in Crete. Allegedly, when his successor died the council said that a sign would be sent by the gods to determine who ruled next - so Minos prayed to Poseidon for a sign and suitable sacrifice to give the gods. Soon after a white bull emerged from the sea - this left no room for questions that Minos was the rightful ruler (that makes... total sense lol). Minos thought that the bull was better than the ones he owned so instead of sacrificing Poseidon's gift to him, Minos kept the bull and sacrificed one of his others. Poseidon was enraged by this so he turned his gift into an angry, untamable creature. Minos later married Pasiphae (daughter of Helios) who bore him many children including Ariadne. Poseidon saw Pasiphae as an opportunity; asking Aphrodite for help with the task of punishing Minos, they made Pasiphae fall in love with the bull. Whenever she approached the bull it would grow violent. Pasiphae asked the architect and inventor Daedalus for help with seducing the bull (lol Daedalus must have really just loved creating or gold because he said ya sure). Daedalus created a fake cow with a compartment for Pasiphae to lie in - she then consummated her union with the bull, creating the minotaur. The minotaur only got older and angrier, so Daedalus was again tasked with crafting something - the labyrinth. It is seen in Athenian dramas that Minos is a tyrannical leader who enjoys feeding people to the Minotaur. This was a reaction to the death of his son Androgeos - Zeus allowed Minos to place a capital tax of seven boys and seven girls from Athens every nine years to be sent to Crete as a sacrifice to the Minotaur. Minos was later killed by the daughters of King Cocalus after going to Sicily in search of Daedalus. These daughters boiled him alive. Hades appreciated his ability to judge people - it also didn't hurt that Minos was a son of Zeus - so he made Minos one of the three judges in the Underworld. IN MY OPINION Minos in your chart represents a) where god/a god may answer your wishes for an exchange, b) where there appears to be a full circle made (Zeus seduced Europa in the form of a bull, Minos got a bull as his sign, his wife was then seduced by said bull…), c) where you are greedy, d) where you are seen as abusive with power, and/or e) where you have the power to decide what happens to others.
