obviously contains death, underage marriage/pregnancy, homophobia and more bad stuff. it’s also not historically accurate we just called everything a kingdom, it’s our own au

alright welcome to game of thrones 2.0

it all started with Camille and Viktor’s engagement. her father wanted to marry her to Lukas since he was the king of Lithuania but he... never showed interest towards her so instead they gave her to Viktor who’s the prince. Cam got sent to Lithuania when she was 15 and married Vik a month or two after. Of course neither of them actually loved each other because first off - Viktor is the gayest man alive, and two, Cam likes Lukas. They made it seem like they actually loved each other though they were good actors. Only Lukas and the king of Italy knew about them not being into one another. They are best friends though. At first it was so awkward but they became friends and bonded over the fact that they hate the whole thing. 

The next year suspicion rised though because surprise surprise Camille still isn’t pregnant and there’s no heir. Now that forced the two of them to actually have sex which was awful to say the least...it took them half an year to do it. And the whole time Viktor was sending letter to our favorite boy - Yeoung (aka Tate). And BOY ARE THEY GAY. Yeoung is married to 4 and they already have a kid which made Yeoung the king of Korea horay!! But being gay in this au is kinda NAAAY so you know, it was a secret. Whenever they met it always got spicy and of course Camille knew! Vik always tells her how much he loves Yeoung.

Haha time skip again, 8 months later. Camille is a pregnant 16th year old that has a huge crush on the king. Over the two years she’s been there they got really close so her crush only grew more and more. Lukas was obviously oblivious to that which made things worse. One night when she was helping him with documents she got a bit close and kissed him. He pushed her away and whew... things got spicy real quick.

Cheating is punishable by death. And she just cheated.

“I thought...I thought you liked me too!”

“That’s against the law. And i’m simply uninterested. You have a husband, Lady Sforza.”

“I have never loved him. I’ve always been yours!”

“Not in my eyes.”

“...Just kill me then! I HATE my life!”

“I’ll consider your request. Have a good night, Lady Sforza.”

So haha Camille is left crying and in fear of what’s to come. Lukas is merciless and she knows he wouldn’t hesitate cutting her head off. The worst part is that he knows of Viktor’s secret affairs with Yeoung which would put both Vik and Yeoung in bad positions.  The next week though... Viktor was put on trial. And executed by his own brother. Camille had to watch her best friend die in front of her and she knew that she was next. Lukas is only waiting for her to give birth and there’s only one month left. She had to push all her feelings away and call for help. Over a week she sent letters to her family in Italy and they managed to sneak her out luckily.

Now after Camille escaped Lithuania she visited Korea to make an alliance with Yeoung, then went to France to talk about an alliance with the king of France who’s her oldest sister’s husband. Eventually Italy, Korea, France and Bulgaria teamed up and SURPRISE! They attacked Lithuania to got revenge. Yeoung especially was really mad because he couldn’t even say goodbye to his lover. Secret or no they both loved each other and if they weren’t in such positions they’d actually ditch everything and date but it’s too late.

We meet on the battlefield, Lithuania’s army is huge despite being only one kingdom.  Still no match to the other side though. Lukas’ army is trained for almost everything, it’s hard to say there was no bloodshed. Before the battle started Cam was in the frontline with the other kings so she can see Lukas. She felt awful honestly, she had to kill the person she loved. Yeah, he didn’t love her back but it still hurt.

“Princess! Fancy seeing you again! How’s my nephew?”

“...He’s not born yet. It’s too late to kill me now. My son will be king.”

*slow clapping as Lukas laughs*

“I’d love to see that! Except you’ll be dead before that happens, Sforza.”

“You’ll die tomorrow, Lord Noreika. Sleep well.”

And thus the war was on! The battle is tomorrow. And to nobody’s surprise Lithuania lost. Camille had ordered them to not kill Lukas but to capture him so she can kill him herself. It was her revenge after all. Once everything was done he was chained under the castle where he met his beloved redhead. She brought a small knife with her since she’s too weak and way too pregnant to lift up an actual sword. 

“So, this is how it ends? I was supposed to kill you and that little monster you have.”

“I told you. You’re going to die today.”

She walked over behind him so he couldn’t see her and took out the blade. Placed her hands on his face, caressing his cheeks one last time, slitting his throat. Camille felt awful about this too, but it was the only right thing. She’s always wanted to be a queen anyway. His body fell in her arms, she decided to hold him. A few tears fell on his pale face as he was gasping for air, the blood not letting him breathe. Her dress was all bloody too, so were her hands. 

“I loved you. I really did...”

And now the king of Lithuania was dead. Who’s going to rule it now?

You guessed it. CAMILLE.

“BUT LILY WHY CAMILLE SHE’S NOBODY?”

Look she was married to the prince and is gonna have his baby in like, a week. There is no other close relatives to the king so it only leaves her in the radar. She’ll be queen until her son is 18 and able to rule. She was proclaimed queen of Lithuania (yeah. it’s just Italy under her rule) after she traveled back and gave birth to Isaac a day after. Keep in mind she’s currently barely 17.

“well ok i guess this makes sense. kind of. what the fuck happened to Tate though”

Yeoung felt absolutely awful. When he got the news that Viktor got executed he almost had a breakdown in front of everybody in the castle. He fell into a huge hole of depression and couldn’t say a thing because well...He’s married, has a kid and he’s the king! It won’t only be weird but also against the laws???? to say that you were the lover of the dead prince of Lithuania! When Camille told him there’ll be war he didn’t even hesitate joining so haha. get rekt Lukas

And that’s how the main thing goes i guess. Camille ends up raising her son and 3 years after that she met a blacksmith called Marcus (yes it’s the Marcus you’re thinking about. Sorrel’s jailor) and eventually things got hella nice and they married. But Marcus is actually a royal bastard... His dad is the king of Germany... Which lead to ANOTHER war....but enough for now

One day the Wind brings Jack Frost to the hut, and Jack Frost seems determined that Hiccup should have more than just one friend, though.

Pitch Black, on the other hand, has plans, and for those plans, he needs his Grimalkin back. He's convinced that getting its new master on side shouldn't be hard. The boy is only a human, after all...

So in an effort to truly dump as much as I can that has been spawned from A New Infection, here is a mostly complete list of all the alternate universes I have. Briar's characters feature in most of these, so go check out her descriptions and other universes linked at the end. Also! Any title in green only includes my characters, or at the very least, they're the main focus.( @pagesofcursive is Briar's blog, or you can click her name above)

- Family AU

Half our characters are toddlers! and are fostered by the other half. This alternate universe is almost purely fluff and fueled by chaos. The adults need help staying sane.

- Fusion AU

Follow all our characters through high school in a world that has laws from both universes; powerless people are the most populous, followed by elementals (Briar's universe) and vigilantes (my universe) at an even smaller population. There's fluff, plenty of angst, new relationships, and plenty of new, tragic backstories to discover. This alternate universe has the most polished stories, which we will be sure to post, as soon as someone is introduced.

- Game Show AU

Motivated by money, fame, friendship, or blackmail, our characters join a game show. There's betrayal, love, and old friendships being discovered, as everyone attempts to survive each weekly trial and not be eliminated before reaching the end.

- Hogwarts AU

We're both Harry Potter (not J.K Rowling) fans, so it was inevitable that we'd send everyone to Hogwarts. When a parent goes mad and threatens the wizarding world, it's up to our characters to reason with the twisted adult and save their community.

- Post-Apocalypse AU

This was created solely because of my indecisiveness; there are a few versions of ways the world would turn after being saved from the canon setting. The first short story I posted is set here, even though it's not explicitly stated. This is probably the least interesting AU, but possibly one of the more useful ones (for me at least)

- Royal AU

Scandals and servants, nobles and naughtiness; we put all our characters in a loosely fantastical medieval setting. Embodying various roles, two of our characters are neighboring princesses and employ the others. There are witches, demons, and mortal peril, and suffice to say, it's definitely an exciting time.

- Superhero AU

A New Infection characters live in a world of heroes, villains, and vigilantes. The characters are age curved, and they serve significant roles in their local metropolis. Living with gray morals, fraying patience unrecognised potential, Bella, Zach, and Freddie, masquerading under the names Scarlet Maiden, Bladed Officer, and Biohacker, strive to make their mark on the world.

- Survival AU

After being thrown in an arena and forced to battle by an unknown external source, the ten main characters plot and escape their prison and are now faced with surviving a winter wonderland and somehow finding their way home.

- The Perfect Family (TPF) AU

Freddie is officially adopted at a much younger age by Violetta and Aster. This alternate universe was formed by a selfish desire to write about more sapphic found families, balance out the angst, and give Freddie the childhood he needs.

So, yeah! These are all the AUs I've created (that I can currently remember) You can find Briar's post here since she and I wanted to create a list of all the universes we've come up with. Eventually, we may flesh out each concept, with character descriptions and roles exclusive to each universe. We'll also post stories set in many of these settings as we finish them, and we'll be sure to link to our respective master posts.

I did some fake anime screenshots of that medieval AU of my OCs and my friend’s OCs. Here, they’re put in chronological order of when I made them, so you can definitely see the changes and improvements I’ve made to attempt to make it look a bit more anime.

Anyway, I’ll just stick my ramblings about this AU below. First of all...

1. Brian (blond-haired guy) and Folisha (pink-haired girl) belong to my friend lucid_fantasies on IG. Castor (bottom right) is my OC. What I headcanon (is it a headcanon if it’s a shared AU?) is that Brian is the stoic knight protagonist of this ‘anime’ series, and his partner is Folisha, who sticks to his side 24/7. What I think we have ‘planned’ is that Brian gets a quest to hunt down this famed rogue named Akamai, who was actually his fiancé. Along the way, he meets Aster (a mage/witch) and her partner Castor, who offer to help out. Castor just hangs around making snarky quips and generally trying to be cheerfully irritating, though.

2. Anton (white-haired boy) is my OC, while Rin (blue-haired girl) is my friend’s OC. Basically, Anton is a traveller/merchant of some kind, and Rin’s a thief. She robs him, but when Anton sees her, he decides to chase after her... to attempt to get to know her/flirt with her. Eventually he ends up following Rin around as part of her ‘group’ (and is probably dirt poor because he never does persuade Rin to give his gold back).

3. Brian, again, and my OC Aisuki. Aisuki is probably another knight, like Brian, except she works under a different lord... or something. They’re rivals, and when they meet, they have a duel. (Spoiler: Brian wins.) But yeah, they’re rivals of some sort and end up running into each other more than once. They don’t hate each other, but they’re just... rivals. And probably both trying to hunt down Akamai first. (I also had too much fun with throwing around filters/effects.)

“So apparently this is Tali Can’t Count!au, but whatever!”  Tali shook her head, confused by the array of numbers on her cue cards.  “Match 3! Probably!  We hope!  Coming straight from your worst Nightmare (Valley), a ghost who’s cape is more dramatic than practical, it’s Kinglazrus!”

Laz tripped on her cape on the way into the ring, but caught herself on her inflatable sword.

“And her opponent from the Medieval Province, which probably doesn’t even have cheez-its by the way, it’s roseyyglass aka Aster!”

As they entered the arena, Aster’s three-piece suit changed to a shifting green that reflected the void-like sky above.

“PHIGHT!”

Laz’s inflatable sword transformed into Danny’s arm, prompting a strangled shout from the now arm-less Danny.

“Hey!  What the— give that back!”

“You’ve survived plenty of fics without it,” Laz said before blowing a kiss up to Danny in the stands.

“Angsty, but not illegal.”  Tali shrugged. “Don’t worry, you’ll get it back after the match.  Probably.”

Aster wasn’t distracted by the logistics of shapeshifting weapons or stealing arms.  They summoned their diamond pickaxe and swung it at Laz— only to have it blocked with Danny’s arm.

“Agh!”  He shouted, trying to rub the spot where it hurt, only to pass through the phantom limb.

“Heh.  Phantom limb.”  Tali grinned.

“That pun stopped being funny ages ago,” Danny tried to scowl, but he was always weak to a good pun.  Even an overused one.

“I got to hand it to them, a diamond pickaxe is a nice weapon,” Technus said.  “If I’d been able to set up my betting ring, I would’ve bet on them.”

“Come on, everyone knows a diamond sword would’ve been better.”  Danny rolled his eyes.  “There’s not even any enchantments on that thing.”

But as it turned out, Aster didn’t need any enchantments.  Their pickaxe cut through the suspenders holding up Laz’s cape, making it crumple unceremoniously to the ground.

“NO!  My cape!”  Laz cried out, scooping the thick red fabric up in her arms.  Aster used the distraction to steal Danny’s arm and poof it back to him.

“Much better,” Danny said, flexing his fingers.

Meanwhile, Laz was still tripping over the fallen cape.  One smack from the blunt side of the pickaxe knocked her out.

“Kinglazrus is unable to battle!  Roseyyglass wins!”

The abomination this process created was a fanfiction about how Prussia and Canada get married even though Canada is dead, and the shenanigans that Germany, Japan and Italy get into trying to figure out what is going on. Might as well share it here as well. As a sort of reminder to myself.

Last year, I was very uncertain of this idea of writing a novel. The commitment seemed daunting. I am happy to report that after proving to myself I could pull off the crazy rhythm of NaNoWriMo, a more paced approach suits me better, so am going much slower now, but steady, after needing 5 months to recover from writing burn-out.

I am confident enough, if not in my skill, at least in the characters, story, and world I am trying to bring to life. It has in many ways been a life line and an opportunity for catharsis. Confident enough, that is, that I decided to hire a wonderful professional editor for a editorial assessment of the draft in November. Just need to finish it by then, no biggie. 😅

While my editor is having fun with Leiander and his Night Demon companion Kevv'ach in their familiar yet strange world, I plan to outline my next novel, tentatively titled The Navigator's Diary. It's a steampunk setting, five of the characters you see above were born late last night, idead hit like a hurricane and underneath what I thought the theme was, there was another one lurking, waiting to entwine the stories of multiple characters.

So this is a reminder to my stupid brain that I can do this - I am doing it, in fact. And it was not a one off (there is at least a third project that is a crystallized idea waiting to happen). One day, Leiander and the Night Demon Kevv'ach in their fictional world, Stella Clara Aster and the sentient automaton Cassius Floyd in their steampunk AU England, as well as the solomonar (a mythic weather wizard of sorts) Dumitru and his gypsy lover Mugur in Medieval Romania will have their stories told, and ready to be shared with whomever needs to find them. 💙💙💙
