Said you’re not in my time zone, but you wanna be (see it in my mind, let’s fulfill the prophecy)
Explicit | 17.7k | NFL Coaches!Buddie, Part 4
“So, what are you wearing?” Buck asks, and Eddie cannot help the laugh that breaks out of him for the first time that day at his boyfriend’s antics.
“Buck, you cannot be serious right now!” It’s a complete 180 from their previous conversation, but somehow it’s exactly what he needs. Whether Buck is right next to him or across the country, he always knows what Eddie needs to feel better.
“Why not? You said you wanted me there right now, and can you honestly tell me that if I was we would just be cuddling before bed? Baby, it’s only nine o’clock there, right? We both know I would very well be taking you apart right now.” Buck tells him, his voice shifting from playful to seductive sentence by sentence.
“Buck…”
“ Eddie. ” Buck says, his commanding tone taking route inside of him over 1,600 miles away. “ Be a good boy for me and go check your suitcase. I have a surprise in there for you. ”
With all of the chaos of Chris being sick, he’d completely forgotten about Buck’s surprise that he had planned for them in Kansas City. In seconds Eddie is up and across the room, ruffling through his suitcase until he stumbles upon a black velvet drawstring bag that he is 100% sure he didn’t pack. Putting Buck on speaker, he takes the bag back to the bed before loosening the strings and letting its contents drop onto the comforter.
When Eddie sucks in a deep breath at what he sees, Buck’s voice on the other end of the line perks up, “ I originally planned to have both of us enjoy those in person, but it seems like you’ll get to have some fun without me. ”
Sitting stark against the hotel’s pristine white comforter, are three items. A bottle of lube - which hey, that one was at least expected - a deep purple butt plug, and a large, silicone dildo in a matching color.
In all his years of being sexually active, he’s never actually experimented with sex toys before. He and Shannon were so young and inexperienced when they were together, so the thought of going to a sex shop to buy things like this never even crossed their minds. As he got older, he wouldn’t say sex with his ex-girlfriends was infrequent, but definitely not common enough to give him an intense need to want to try new things and experiment with toys. Buck is the only person he’s ever been with that drives him mad with desire, and the only person he’s ever trusted enough to want to try these out with.
Eddie tentatively takes his time picking up the toys, examining them thoroughly. The plug, while only slightly slimmer than the dildo, is smooth in texture but inflexible. A closer look shows that in the center of the flared base are two buttons: one for power and the other for intensity. Buck packed him a vibrating plug and Eddie’s skin is humming with desire thinking of it sitting inside him, delivering pulses directly to his prostate. The dildo, on the other hand, flexes with ease, and it's around the same size and shape as Buck. It’s not exact, but it’s about as close as you can get without Buck doing one of those cock molds - which, Eddie might have to recommend that he tries just for fun.
“ What do you think, baby ?” Buck asks, drawing Eddie’s attention back to him. “ Would you like to try those out for me? ”
“Fuck, yes.” Eddie moans in response, earning a sultry chuckle on the other end of the line.

WIP Wednesday
Tagged by the always amazing @thewolvesof1998 and @prince-buck-diaz.
Here a smidge more of NFL Buck and Firefighter Eddie, secret relationship.
“Wait, did you ever meet Evan Buckley, when you worked the Longhorn games?” Chimney asked, his eyes bright with curiosity. Eddie hesitated to answer.  He really didn’t want to tell too many lies, but at the same time he couldn’t drop enough information that could lead back to his partnership with the quarterback.  Apparently, his delayed response was answer enough.  Chimney lit up, “Holy shit you have met him!” “Um… well yea. Hard to forget a guy you took off the field in a collar after being knocked unconscious, all the while flipping off the opposing team.” Eddie recalled and he couldn’t stop the small smile to come to his face at the memory. The University of Texas was playing their long-time rivals, Texas A&M, and the latter was getting their asses kicked.  By the third quarter, things started to get really ugly. Defensive players were hitting harder, everybody was getting into everyone’s face, and the flags were flying. By the time coverage broke down, leaving Buck completely vulnerable, 2 players and an assistant coach had been thrown out of the game. It became 3 when defensive lineman, James Dorrick flung the offensive right tackle aside and put his entire weight and speed towards Evan Buckley, picking his whole being up a solid foot from the ground and slamming him down. The ball had been long gone from the quarterback’s hand.
Tagging (no pressure and apologies if you've already been tagged or have posted): @911onabc @thekristen999 @lizzybizzyzzz @bekkachaos @transbuck @ebdaydreamer @elvensorceress
(James Dorrick is not a real player. Also if you have any questions about American Football and the NFL, I am more than happy to answer for a better understanding. I watch a lot of football, hell I just finished binging Quarterback on Netflix, even attend games here and there. So I have some good knowledge.)

Milwaukee Bucks GM says coach was fired to ‘maximize’ team’s talent
Griffin, 49, had coached in the NBA for 16 years as an assistant.
By Evan Casey | Wisconsin Public Radio Before the start of the season, the Milwaukee Bucks had high hopes for first-time head coach Adrian Griffin. Now team management is offering few details on why those hopes soured just 43 games into the season. Bucks General Manager Jon Horst spoke to reporters at a press conference Wednesday, the day after news of Griffin’s firing broke. He said he stands…

Hi so I decided I’m going to start making Chris Evans story’s just because so let’s goooo
Chris Evans story
Warnings: none
Summary: You are the assistant to the Boston Celtics coach and Chris Evans plays on that team, you always loved basketball played every year of school from kindergarten to high school but you decided you didn’t want to play you wanted to teach it but not full time so you went to college for it and while in college your parents were in a car wreck and died you took hard but you knew that they wouldn’t have wanted you to give up on your dreams so you kept going. You went around to many different teams but then you decided that you wanted to stay in your home town Boston Massachusetts so you went to the Celtics where you met Chris Evans he plays shooting guard. The team still needed to get some more staff which included the teams athletic stretcher where if a player tour a muscle then the athletic stretcher would help them heal there muscle and help them stretch before games or stuff like that so they asked you if you would be it all you got to do is take some classes and some test and if you pass you do that and assistant coach you said sure.
Pairing: Basketball!!! Chris Evans x Female assistant coach!!! Reader
It was your first day as assistant coach on the Celtics you got up at 5am and started getting ready. Your wore black sweats with a green Celtics shirt along with a black Celtics hoodie over it you grabbed your running shoes by the door and made your way out. You stopped at star bucks for a coffee then finally went to the Celtics gym and basket ball court/arena.
Tumblr media
You went in none of the players where here yet only you, you where the one who opened everything up as well as closed everything up, you went to your office and unlocked the door and found a whistle and some papers on your new desk. You put all your keys and stuff on the Celtics lanyard.
Tumblr media
You sat down and turned on your computer, as it loaded your look at the paper on your desk,it had your work email and password on it to get into the computer and the rules and stuff like that. You heard a knock on your door, you look at through the glass, it was coach warlock. You stood up and opened the door and smiled at him stretching your head out for him to shake, which he took as he spoke.
“Hi y/n nice to meet you and I see you opened everything nice job I’m coach WarLock but everybody calls me coach Lock.” He said as he let go of your hand and sent a small smile back
“If you get confused on anything let me know but I think everything in the the packet” he said the walked away.
You closed the door and sat down and continued you reading the packet,
———————————————————————
You looked at the clock on the wall in front of you, it read 7:30am, you got up and put the packet in your desk drawer and grabbed your lanyard and walked out just as a few players walked into the locker room. You felt your phone buzz in your packet, you got it out, there was a text from your best friend
Y/b/n
Hey how is it so far
Y/n
It’s great the players are just now coming in and stuff so I have to go love you
Y/b/n
Bye love you
You put your phone in your pocket as you a couple players came out on the court, you grabbed a piece of gum from your hoodie pocket and stuck it on your mouth, you walked over to stand by the court and watch them practice piping bubble gum and tossing your lanyard around your finger.
“Hey Calvin are you left handed or right handed?” You asked noticing his form was off. That is Josh Calvin he’s a point guard
“Uh right handed” he said looking at you with a curious look as to why you asked.
“Started or acting with left to ok but I mean keep… practice with both.” You told him struggling a little with your words.
You walked or paced you could say at the side of the court tossing your lanyard around you finger when you heard an ow from beside you.
You turned to look at who said that, your eyes connected with Chris Evans the shooting guard, he was shaking his hands back and forth
“Oh my- I’m sorry I didn’t see you there” you said as your eyes widen
“You fine um I was wondering if you help me out give me tips like you did for Calvin because these last couple of games We’ve been losing because of me for some reason I can’t make a shot to save my life” he asked as he stop skating his hand around.
“Yeah follow me I think I know what’s wrong” you said you finally took in his appearance, he was around 6 foot and very muscle, nice smile, white pearly teeth which I suppose you’ve got to have as a celebrity.
You went to your office getting a little kit out.
“Okay put your arm out like this” you told him flipping over your arm so the inside of your elbow was facing the ceiling, He did as you told.
You started to press on the skin around his forearm. “That hurt” you pressed “no” you moved to a different spot “how bout that “no” you moved the next spot and you barley press down when Chris winced and pulled his away. You smiled, “okay Evans you pulled your tendon in your arm when over doing your self, so just wear this arm brace for around a week and then your arm shouldn’t hurt when you shoot.” You smiled while putting the brace on and look up at him through you long lashes as you spoke the last sentence. He laughed as well the went to walk out.
“Also no practice or work outs” you said
“What no I have to practice then I really will suck please don’t” he begged
“ I’m sorry Evans go home or sit on the bench” you told him walking past him out your office

7 NBA overreactions after one game of the 2021-2022 season
Tumblr media
Let’s overreact to what we saw on opening night around the NBA.
The NBA is back, and it feels like it was never gone. The 2021-2022 season opened just over a year since the Los Angeles Lakers won the 2020 championship inside the bubble, and only three months after the Milwaukee Bucks won the 2021 title. Yes, the league had another short offseason to get back on its normal, pre-pandemic schedule, and it makes the return of games feel a little overwhelming from the jump.
All but four teams have been in action through the NBA’s first two days. The Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, and Atlanta Hawks won’t debut until Thursday. For everyone else, hot takes are suddenly fair game with one contest in the books.
Let’s wildly overreact to what we saw from teams through one game. It will be fun to check back on these at the end of the year and see what opening night taught us, and what it didn’t.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is going to win MVP
Last time we saw Giannis, he was dropping 50 points in Game 6 of the NBA Finals to clinch the Milwaukee Bucks’ first title since 1971. Milwaukee opened the season against the Brooklyn Nets — the team favored to win the championship this year even without Kyrie Irving — and, yeah, The Greek Freak is picking up where he left off.
WHAT A BLOCK, GIANNIS ✋ (via @NBA) pic.twitter.com/mPqFjPmvfC
— NBA on ESPN (@ESPNNBA) October 19, 2021
Milwaukee rolled past Brooklyn, and Giannis dropped a 32-14-7 line while looking dominant on both ends of the floor. He might be the best player in the league, and we know he has no problem going peddle to the metal in the regular season. Antetokounmpo already has two MVPs, and he sure looked like he’s capable of winning another coming off his first championship.
Chris Duarte will make the All-Rookie First Team
Duarte was 24 years old when the Indiana Pacers took him with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, making him the oldest first round pick in the class. The former Oregon Duck found himself into the starting lineup from game one with T.J. Warren and Caris LeVert injured for Indiana, and he showed he could contribute right away. Duarte finished with 27 points on 6-of-9 shooting from three as the Pacers lost late to the Hornets.
youtube
Duarte was a skilled shooter and disruptive perimeter defender during his time with Oregon, and the shooting immediately translated on opening night. New Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle typically doesn’t trust rookie, but an older rook like Duarte might buck that trend. A spot on the All-Rookie team wouldn’t be too surprising.
LaMelo Ball is going to be an All-Star
Okay, this was one of my preseason predictions, too. I’m feeling pretty good about it after Ball started his second season by dropping 31 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists in a late second win over Indiana.
youtube
LaMelo went 7-of-9 from three on the night. If he’s shooting anywhere close to that, he’s going to be a sensation this season.
Zach LaVine is going to average 30 points per game
LaVine put up 27.5 points per game on wildly good 64 percent true shooting last year. This year, he finally has some good teammates and won’t be the sole focus of opposing game plans any more. LaVine looks terrific in his season debut, putting up 34 points on 11-of-17 shooting in a win over the Pistons.
youtube
Nikola Vucevic took a team-high 21 shots and DeMar DeRozan attempted 17 field goals, so it’s possible LaVine just won’t get enough shots to significantly improve his scoring average from last season. There’s no doubt he’s the best player on the Bulls, though, and at 26 years old he’s just starting to hit his prime. He’s an awesome scorer who is capable of putting up 30 per game.
The Knicks were no fluke last year
Knicks-Celtics was wild on Tuesday night. The Celtics had a wild comeback in the fourth quarter to force overtime, but New York would eventually win the game in double-OT. Julius Randle was awesome (35 points, nine assists, eight rebounds), and new addition Evan Fournier (32 points) added some badly needed offensive firepower. Obi Toppin looked good off the bench, too.
It’s hard to remember that the Knicks were the No. 4 seed this year. Las Vegas expects them to be a .500 team, but Tom Thibodeau’s ‘Every Game is Game 7’ mentality should help them win a ton of regular season games. Prediction: the Knicks will make the playoffs in the East without having to go through the play-in tournament.
Patty Mills will win Sixth Man of the Year
Patty Thrills went 7-for-7 from three in his debut for the Nets.
youtube
Someone has to score if Kyrie is going to be out. Mills is a perfect fit playing off Kevin Durant and James Harden, and will probably be in for a big year.
Russell Westbrook is going to inspire the wildest takes all year
Was Russ good in his Lakers debut? No he was not.
The Lakers' Big Three showed up on opening night LeBron, AD, and, Melo combined for 76 PTS, 26 REB, and 9 AST in a loss vs. the Warriors pic.twitter.com/6ZhZ6OVTWN
— SB Nation (@SBNation) October 20, 2021
The truth is that Russ has started slow the last few years. He’ll be better by mid-season, count on that. The concerns about how he’ll fit alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis during the playoffs are legitimate, though. We’ll spare you a Westbrook hot take after one game and just say he’ll be the biggest lightning rod of the season.

Book, No. 7 Notre Dame run by USF 52-0 to extend home streak
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Ian E-book ran for 3 first-half touchdowns and No. 7 Notre Dame received its 20th straight house sport 52-Zero towards South Florida on Saturday.
Coach Brian Kelly’s Combating Irish (2-0) led 35-Zero at halftime and for the second 12 months in a row posted a 52-point shutout for defensive coordinator Clark Lea.
”We talked all week about the usual we had set for our soccer crew, and it is actually only a mindset for our offense,” Kelly stated. ”It was some extent of emphasis and we bought off to that quick begin and clearly that set the tone for the day.”
E-book, who began with three straight completions, capped the opening drive with a 4-yard landing run. He’s the primary quarterback in Notre Dame’s trendy period to run for 3 touchdowns in a single half. Freshman Chris Tyree scored from a yard out about 5 minutes after E-book’s first TD. It by no means bought higher for the first-year coach Jeff Scott’s Bulls (1-1), who had been a late add to Notre Dame’s schedule after the Irish joined the Atlantic Coast Convention for this off season in a pandemic.
”They have a playoff-caliber crew they usually actually dominated the sport from the start to the top,” stated Scott, a former co-offensive coordinator for Dabo Swinney at Clemson. ”I felt like I used to be taking part in Clemson there for almost all of the day.”
Reserve C’Bo Flemister ran for a career-best 127 yards for Notre Dame because the Irish unfold the touches round between starter Kyren Williams (62 yards on 10 carries) and Tyree (65 on eight). The Irish completed with 281 speeding yards and 429 complete yards.
Jafar Armstrong added a 5-yard TD run to shut out the scoring for the Irish.
Story continues
In the meantime, the Irish protection restricted USF to 65 yards within the first half and 231 complete whereas breaking in three new starters. A complete of 9 gamers missed the sport with security Kyle Hamilton’s ankle harm and large receiver Ben Skowronek (hamstring) out with accidents. Notre Dame didn’t disclose the explanations the opposite eight didn’t play.
The Irish particular groups bought into the act within the third quarter with the assistance of a excessive snap over the top of USF punter Trent Schneider. When the Australian picked it up 36 yards behind the road of scrimmage, Osita Ekwonu blocked Schneider’s kick and freshman Jordan Botelho recovered the ball because it was going into the top zone for a 45-Zero lead with 3:23 left within the third quarter.
The Irish beat Bowling Inexperienced 52-Zero final season.
THE TAKEAWAY
South Florida: The Bulls could not muster something on offense in offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr.’s homecoming of kinds. The son of the previous Notre Dame coach, who was changed by Brian Kelly, used two quarterbacks within the first half. USF began Jordan McCloud and changed him with Noah Johnson however Weis bought little from both. Even large receiver Jah’Quez Evans lined as much as take a snap on a fourth-down pretend punt that misplaced 9 yards when Irish defensive finish Isaiah Foskey sniffed the play out.
”From our facet, clearly it was a really disappointing from the primary drive all through the sport,” Scott stated. ”We’re not going to make any excuses.”
Notre Dame: The Irish had touchdowns on 5 of their six possessions within the first half, whereas outgaining USF 279-65 within the first half. With E-book sitting out the second half and with the opposite gamers lacking for numerous causes, Kelly appreciated what he noticed.
”We stay on this world proper now and also you by no means are ready for it however conscious of it and know it could actually occur,” Kelly stated. ”Our gamers responded properly and so did our coaches.”
AMONG THE MISSING
Cornerback TaRiq Bracy and linebackers Marist Liufau and Shayne Simon, who shared the Buck place, had been additionally out for Notre Dame.
Jack Kiser, a former highschool quarterback and linebacker at close by Pioneer Excessive Faculty in Royal Heart, Indiana, bought the beginning and freshman Clarence Lewis began in Bracy’s place. Kiser had 9 solo tackles and was given the sport ball.
Additionally lacking with no rationalization had been No. 2 quarterback Brendon Clark, large receiver-punt returner Lawrence Keys III, working again Jahmir Smith and defensive lineman Ovie Oghoufo.
POLL IMPLICATIONS
The Irish, who rose to seventh in final week’s Related Press High 25, ought to be about the identical this week.

New Look Sabres: GM 31 - EDM - Dumb and Dumber
Tumblr media
3-2 OT Win
Dumb and Dumber is an iconic movie. It was one of three enormously popular movies the great Jim Carrey made in 1994. There is this one scene where Lloyd (Carrey) and Harry (Jeff Daniels) are at luck’s end, on the run from the law and literally hundreds of miles off course. They had even lost their ride, the 1984 Ford Econoline van dressed up as a dog. The two titular heroes are split up and Harry is walking down a desolate prairie road when Lloyd rides up behind him on the smallest of motorized scooters. Harry utters the legendary memeable line: “Just when I think you couldn’t possibly get any dumber… you do something like this… AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!” Okay, so I don’t recommend that movie if your faint of heart or squeamish but it’s a classic my dad beat every line of into me. I could recite that film to you. The Buffalo Sabres found themselves in exactly the position to make me utter such a line for such a situation. After outright losing to the Calgary Flames on Thursday, the easiest win out of the NHL Clubs in Alberta and British Columbia simply by virtue of the standings, they put up an entertaining but frustrating show in Vancouver that saw Tyler Myers remind us of old days before an OT loss that was ultimately just not good enough. Like Dumb and Dumber stupid crap like Tyler Myers’s two points, or a Milan Lucic goal or an Eichel OT winner essentially getting iced by a separate penalty comes up to make your jaw drop. All the while the lack of a desperately needed roster move is forcing the coach to rotate in and out players and tank the value of Colin Miller who now is apparently on the trade block (WE WANT YOU TO TRADE A D-MAN, BUT NOT THAT ONE)! This game came with the dumb plot element of Casey Mittelstadt getting healthy scratched for Evan Rodrigues. In the Dumb and Dumber analogy I’m trying to figure out who the headless parrot is. Either way the little scooter comes humming down the highway late on a Sunday night when you think the road trip has tanked all hopes for the resurrection of this Sabres Season. Then it happens: “…you do something like this… AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELF!”
The Dumb and Dumber analogy felt so right. The trials of this insane road trip and the team they fully beat is the best of them: the Edmonton Oilers! This Eichel v. McDavid thing has gotten old hasn’t it? Nobody really cares for that narrative in a league bursting at the seems with hot young talent. Nonetheless I’m bringing it up. McDavid was kept quiet on the scoresheet, you know who wasn’t? CAPTAIN JAMES JACK EICHEL OF NORTH CHELMSFORD, MASSACHUSETTS! Ok, so it was a secondary assist on the OT game winner BUT BY GOLLY THE STREAK CONTINUES! WATCH OUT NASHVILLE, WATCH OUT ST.LOUIS, YOUR BANNERS AND TROPHIES WON’T HELP YOU NOW! Yeah, so this game was 90% confused Santas wailing on each other at Santa Con. There was not a notable name on the scoresheet but there was four goals in regulation. The first was Kyle Okposo, somehow on a real roll now, tipping in a shot originating with Marco Scandella four minutes in. With that the GLO line, somehow the most consistent line on this team in this version of Dumb and Dumber, drew first blood. This game was excellently matched as all of the top lines seemed to cancel each other out. That’s shocking for me to see written on this page because I woke up this morning not worried about the Baltimore Ravens or the challenges of my Master’s Project; no I woke up fearing Connor McDavid. The guy is an animal and four years in Edmonton has turned him into a Liam Neeson movie villain all grizzled and hairy with nothing to lose.
Well the dumb part of this game was nothing went the way you expected it… well except the powerplay: that’s dumb, it still sucks ass. Did the Sabres give up juicy chances for the Oilers when they were in fact on the powerplay? Dumb gets dumber and Jimmy Vesey and Rasmus Asplund come flying into the Oilers zone shortly after the home team got a great chance in the other end. Asplund’s shot didn’t go and who finds the rebound? Johan Larsson. How about that? He tucks it in five hole on Mike Smith with a just abhorrent level of disrespect. So as fun as that weird dumb shit was it is followed by just enough expected malaise this team has gotten us used to. They don’t score again in regulation. The Edmonton Oilers come back and dominate the shots battle in the second period. They climb all the way back; they don’t call 2-0 the most dangerous lead in hockey for nothing. The Sabres sure as hell aren’t bucking that trend against a team not from New Jersey. Like we’ve been seeing so much since the end of October really, the Sabres completely devalue possession. They dump the puck in. They slow down the passes because they like to pretend scoring effects don’t come for everyone. They drop the puck in dangerous places and so many offensive zone turnovers turn into scoring opportunities for the other team. That’s exactly what happened when Riley Sheahan got the puck in the neutral zone and took it all the way in past Linus Ullmark to cut the lead in half. What a pretty first goal as an Oiler, eh? Want to get mad? It seems to be all the rage on Sabres twitter right now. Here it is: Zach Bogosian single handedly gave Edmonton all their powerplay chances in the second period. Oh you bet! On the second installment of that shit saga Joakim Nygard tips in a Darnell Nurse shot to even it up. Goodbye lead! Hardly knew you. I should’ve warned you the Sabres aren’t a safe place for leads.
By dumb luck that score line remained through the third period. No goals for the rest of regulation and I had a feeling we’d see poor possession come into play in 3-on-3 OT play. It just felt like we were due for one of the three headed monster on the Oilers to eat us alive. Here comes the redemption: the Sabres possessed the puck for the 1:13 of OT we did get. Bucked trend. Jack Eichel paraded the puck all the way around the offensive zone not taking a shot before laying it off to Marcus Johansson on one side of the Edmonton net who pitched it to Colin Miller on the other side. In the press box no more, out for Jake McCabe’s sake no more, trade asset for a not sexy Alex Galchenyuk no more please! Colin Miller slams it into Mike Smith’s pads, and it trickles in for the Game-Winning Overtime Goal! You lose two games you should have won and then you go AND TOTALLY REDEEM YOURSELVES! SABRES WIN 3-2 IN OVERTIME! And you bet that secondary assist was Jack mother fucking Eichel! You bet! You thought the Bills would be your source of joy today and… well that was a good guess, but No, it was the Sabres who won their game! Surprise assholes!
Okay so the problems are still there. We’re still going to need y’all to win more than about three games a month. We’re going to need you to make a trade, a smart one preferably, involving a defenseman of salary. We’re going to need more than 50% of the points out of a soft(er) road trip. But funny thing: right after Miller scored the OT winner Dan Dunleavy said something curious: “The Sabres get the much needed two points here out of Edmonton!” All points in the standings matter in the unfun language of the hockey world but the Sabres were in a playoff spot before this game. Say what you will about the last three games, what was so especially needed about these two points? Dunleavy will never admit it, but these two points were for us angry, cynical fans. We needed some holiday cheer in all this dumbness. Two points out of Western Canada is ugh. Three out of six? It’s only half but its enough to get us down off the ledge a little. We’re going to need some patience this win saved against St. Louis and Nashville. It will be an interesting week, especially if Jason Botterill makes yet another trade with his hockey daddy Jim Rutherford in Pittsburgh. Like, comment and share this blog because you bet I’ll be writing that up when it happens. Get those sleigh bells ring ging gingalin’ because December has some more surprises, painful and fun, in store for us! I can just feel it after how this road trip went! Let’s Go Buffalo!
Thanks for Reading.
P.S. But yes, I didn’t forget. I said I’d look like a clown if I predicted four points out of this trip, impossible after the Vancouver loss, and then see the Sabres get two points out of Connor McDavid and the Oilers. I am in fact the clown here. What balloon animal do you want?

Like Big Cat Weekend, the goal of this past weekend was to get a number of top targets on campus in order to lay the groundwork for future booms. Mission accomplished.
This week is a unique week on the recruiting trail. For much of July and all of August, it’s the dead period in recruiting which means that prospects and coaching staffs can not have any face to face contact. But from July 25th to July 31st, there is a quiet period which allows recruits to have face to face contact only on a college campus. That has lead to the majority of programs throwing very large recruiting events in hopes of getting their top targets on campus one more time before fall camp begins.
Starting in 2016, Auburn has taken advantage of this time period by throwing a picnic/bbq event at the end of each July. It’s almost like a second Big Cat Weekend though its focus is a bit more split between this class and future ones. It’s proven to be successful thus far. This year it looks likely to have the same results.
The Tigers landed one commit and sure sounds like a few more could pop in the coming weeks. Like Big Cat Weekend, the goal of this event isn’t necessarily to land same day commits. Instead, it’s to forge strong bonds not only between their top targets and the coaching staff but also allow current commits and future targets to bond as well. Often times, it’s the connection between fellow prospects that ends up mattering just as much as the relationships with the coaching staff.
Here’s a rundown of who made the trip and updates on their recruitments.
Auburn Commits
4* LB Trenton Simpson
4* LB Wesley Steiner
4* WR Kobe Hudson
4* WR Ze’Vian Capers
4* WR JJ Evans
4* LB Cameron Riley
3* OG Tate Johnson
3* OG Avery Jernigan
3* OT Jeremiah Wright
3* QB Chayill Garnett
3* OT Jonathan Buskey
All but four Auburn commits made it to campus this past weekend and it doesn’t appear that any of the four showed up at other events. Last year, George Pickens spurned Auburn’s event for Georgia’s, something that in hindsight proved more important than I realized at the time so I was playing close attention to see if something similar went down this year. Thankfully, that doesn’t appear to be the case and even more importantly, the majority of Auburn’s top ranked commits made the trip to help the staff recruit.
The biggest news from this group is obviously Wright’s commitment. He’s someone JB Grimes has wanted for a long time and Auburn is reportedly thrilled they could get him on board before the season. He gives Auburn 6 offensive line commits which could mean they are done at that position. However, they will reportedly continue to pursue some JUCO OT talent and don’t be surprised if they host some more OL official visitors during the season.

2020 Targets
4* RB Tank Bigsby
4* WR EJ Williams
4* DB Ladarius Tennison
4* CB Marco Domio (JUCO)
4* CB Kendall Dennis
4* DB Brian George (JUCO)
3* DL/Buck Rashad Whitehead
3* DE Bradyn Swinson
K Evan McGuire
One of the bigger storylines this weekend was tracking where Tank Bigsby would visit. There was confidence that he would be on the Plains but with Tank anything is possible. Well the nation’s #7 running back elected to head to Auburn over Athens and even more importantly returned Sunday to talk with the staff. This is turning into an AU alum showdown between Carnell Williams and Dell McGee. Can Caddy land his first big boom as an assistant? That possibility feels MUCH more realistic than it did just a few weeks ago.
The other big time offensive target to visit was Phenix City native EJ Williams. He was close to being an AU commit following this event last year but his recruitment absolutely exploded during the fall and now Auburn has been playing catch up. The good news is he stated Auburn had moved up to #2 on his list following the visit. The bad news is Clemson continues to lead and with a decision coming at the end of August, it’s hard to see this one going Auburn’s way. Luckily, the Tigers already have a very strong WR class committed so Williams is more of a “really nice to have” than a necessity.
It’s been hard to get a handle on Auburn’s top DB targets this cycle and even harder to know who might actually be favoring the Tigers. That picture got a lot more clear this weekend. All four DB prospects that visited are absolute takes for the Tigers and there’s a chance all four might now be favoring Auburn. Two are JUCO prospects Marco Domio and Brian George. Both have already used official visits to the Plains and could be closing in on a decision. Interestingly, EJ Williams was only one of two uncommitted prospects to visit Auburn for both Big Cat Weekend and the War Eagle Picnic. The other? The nation’s #2 JUCO cornerback Brian George. Jason Caldwell also reports that Domio’s flight was cancelled which could have meant taking the much shorter drive to College Station but his family instead elected to drive 10 hours to the Plains. The JUCO prospects also reportedly spent a lot of time together during the event. Auburn very well could have to replace both starting cornerbacks next season. Signing two of the top three JUCO recruits this cycle sure ain’t a bad way of going about filling that hole.
As for prep targets LaDarrius Tennison and Kendall Dennis, both have been reported in the past as having Auburn as a top school. But you really can’t start taking players’ interest seriously until they start taking multiple visits to campus. The fact both elected to travel to Auburn for this weekend is big news. Getting Domio, George, Tennison and Dennis in this year’s class would be huge for Auburn. The other name to continue to track is 4* CB Ethan Pouncey. Chances are good at least three from that group will be Auburn Tigers next season.
2021 Targets
5* DB Ga’Quincy McKinstry
5* DT Lee Hunter
4* WR Jaquez Smith
4* WR Julian Nixon
4* WR Dacari Collins
3* LB Chaz Chambliss
3* QB Aaron McLaughlin
3* DT Isaac Washington
3* WR Jackson Meeks
3* OL JT Pennington
This weekend wasnt just about locking down some top 2020 targets, it was also about getting a jump start on the 2021 class. The recruiting cycles kick into gear so much earlier with the new early signing period. That’s why Auburn really split their focus of this event between finishing out their current class and getting a foundation in place for the next one. It sounds like they made signifiant progress on both.
It’s believed that Kenny Dillingham’s cryptic tweets on Saturday evening about a 2nd possible commit were in regards to Alpharetta, GA native Aaron McLaughlin. The 6’4” 225 lb gunslinger camped (along with 3* Will Crowder) with the Tigers on Friday and it sounds like he impressed both Gus Malzahn and Kenny Dillingham. So much so that the Tigers are hoping to get him on board very soon. It’s interesting that Auburn might go so hard after a pro style QB given Auburn’s recent focus on dual threat prospects the past few classes, but supposedly McLaughlin showed enough mobility during camp to make the coaching staff feel good about him being able to run the whole offense. One thing is for sure though this dude can throw the football.
McLaughlin might not be the only future 2021 boom. Lee Hunter has long favored the Tigers so much so that when asked about his top schools his answer was “Auburn, Auburn, Auburn, Auburn”. The Eight Mile, AL native is a 247 Composite 5* already and expected to be one of the top prospects in the country next season. Landing Hunter would be a massive early boom for this 2021 class. He reminds me a lot of Derrick Brown at this point in his career and I don’t say that lightly.
Hunter wasn’t the only instate 5* on campus. The man they call Kool-Aid, Ga’Quincy McKinstry, was back on campus again this weekend. Ranked as the nation’s #15 overall prospect in the 2021 class, McKinstry has long been a frequent visitor to the Plains. But this trip was a bit different as it wasn’t only Gus Malzahn that wanted to meet with him. Bruce Pearl stopped by and let McKinstry know that he also has an offer to play basketball for the Tigers.
#AG2G Truly Blessed & Honored ‼️To Receive An Basketball ⭕️ffer From Auburn University... I WILL HAVE THE CHANCE TO PLAY BOTH SPORTS #WAREAGLE @coachbarber @CoachFlanigan pic.twitter.com/Jcaq6Xprul
— GaQuincy McKinstry™ (@GaQMcK1) July 28, 2019
You don’t see many kids play both football and basketball in college but Auburn is willing to let McKinstry do both. This is going to be one of the most hotly contested recruitments in the state next cycle. It will be interesting to see if Alabama follows Auburn’s lead and gives Kool-Aid a chance to be a dual sport athlete at the next level.
Finally, file the name Isaac Washington away. Visiting from Pilot Mountain, NC, Washington appears to be an early top target for Rodney Garner. He left the Plains with the Tigers on top. Don’t be surprised if his name quickly climbs the prospect rankings over the next year.
Really great day at Auburn University yesterday one of the best days of my life thank you @coachg76 & @CoachGusMalzahn for everything can’t wait to be back. #WAREAGLE pic.twitter.com/LIQQfUQ4A9

OL Lucas Taylor
QB MJ Morris
DT Dominick James
DB Andre Stewart
DB Khamauri Rogers
I will admit that even my obsessiveness over recruiting hasn’t lead me to watch much 2022 film but there was a bit of news from this list. Khamauri Rogers left the Plains with an offer in hand. Given Auburn’s recent success in the state of Mississippi and Rogers having Marcus Woodson has his position coach, I think he’s a name to track over the next couple of cycles. I am guessing we will see him on campus more in the future.

NBA Playoffs preview: Golden State Warriors seek third-straight title but face stiff competition

The Denver Nuggets and Houston Rockets are probably their biggest challenges in the West, while the Milwaukee Bucks lead the talent during the Eastern Conference.

This is the time of year that the warriors come to life, and Steve Kerr's team has been there and done it.
Another sloppy season of 82 games came to a head and ended in a surprising way with the Warriors going 132-117 down to Memphis Grizzlies, that must be a sign to be? Probably not.
Unlike last year, there were several subplots this season with the future of Draymond Green and Kevin Durant far from certain – both now seem likely to leave with or without another championship throne.
Stephen Curry is the Warrior who makes things happen; an average of 27.3 points per game during the regular season further proves its influence on games. The LA Clippers have been cut off and have worked hard to make the Play-offs, but they must be easily dismissed.
It all comes down to motivation and mental fatigue for the Warriors. Stephen Curry

But Portland should focus on what they do well, what tools should they do? they have in their arsenal and they have the all-star Damian Lillard in shape. The 28-year-old point keeper has achieved an average of 25.8 points per game from 80 games and shot 44.4 percent from the field.
A famous comeback victory against Sacramento in the final regular season game was really incredible. Equipped with some of the most important men, the sensational performance of rookie Anfernee Simons showed that the Blazers are far from just a one-man team.
Portland is a model of consistency at this time of the year – that is both good and bad. Every year after 2014, they qualified for the post-season, but they always failed briefly. Three exits in the first round and two in the second round suggest a mental block to translate good forms into series of victories when it counts.
OKC has experienced players who will not shirk when things get difficult. The difficulty for Portland is whether they could win the trend of those who have been before and the distance.

‘Disturbing videos’ and other takeaways from the big Maryland report
Tumblr media
The big report into Maryland football highlights widespread dysfunction in the football program and beyond.
The Maryland football program is a mess.
That’s the simplest takeaway from the 192-page investigative report that a school-appointed commission released Thursday. The commission had been investigating the culture inside head coach DJ Durkin’s program, following the June death of offensive lineman Jordan McNair and a subsequent ESPN report that panned the program for a “toxic” culture.
The report reaches an odd conclusion, that “the Maryland football team did not have a ‘toxic culture,’ but did have a culture “where problems festered because too many players feared speaking out.”
The investigators don’t think players fearing to speak out on issues about their own safety qualifies as “extremely harsh, malicious, or harmful.” While that’s among the report’s most eye-popping conclusions, the document also offers a detailed look into how the program’s been run.
The report doesn’t confirm some of the worst charges against the program, but it still paints an ugly picture of the program Durkin has led, as well as the strength and conditioning program led by Rick Court, who resigned after ESPN’s report came out.
You can read the full report here. Below, we’ve picked out critical information from it.
1. The investigation details several unconventional motivational tactics and punishments, administered by both Durkin and Court.
Examples, in the investigators’ telling, include:
Players were made to watch graphic videos while eating:
Multiple players anonymously complain that the coaching staff would subject teams during meal time to disturbing videos. According to Gus Little, this included videos of serial killers, drills entering eyeballs, and bloody scenes with animals eating animals. Another player says that there were videos of rams and bucks running at each other at full speed. Mr. Durkin maintains that horror movies were sometimes shown at breakfast to motivate and entertain players.
A player was removed from a team meeting for smiling. The report states there was a “preexisting rift” between the player and Durkin, who thought the player wasn’t paying attention
As a form of punishment, Court forced players to exercise on a stair climber with a PVC pipe across their shoulders for an hour. The investigation’s medical expert concluded this was “an appropriate exercise technique.”
Court also allegedly slapped food out of a player’s hands when he was told the player didn’t finish eating before a team meeting:
Mr. Court subsequently snatched the box out of the player’s hand, tossed it against the wall, and addressed the entire group on the importance of punctuality, saying “I was trying to set the tone for what that day was going to be.” Others say Mr. Court knocked the food out of the player’s hand onto the ground.
Court stated that players were told to eat before the meeting.
Multiple players told investigators that Court gave overweight players candy bars or snacks while others were working out:
Accounts vary as to whether Mr. Court placed the candy bars on the player’s lap, dropped them at his feet, hurled them at the player, or poured a bin of them on the player and then forced the player to eat them while the rest of the team worked out. Mr. Court says he threw a bag of the candy at the player’s feet. One player recalls that Mr. Court called the player “fat.”
ESPN’s report claimed a player was forced to eat until he vomited. A coach confirmed a player did vomit during a team meal, but it was unclear whether the player was forced to eat, or if he was simply eating and vomited.
But, speaking of vomit:
During the workout session, the player in question had gotten sick and vomited into the trash can. Some sources, including former players Michal (“Gus”) Little and E.J. Donahue, alleged that Mr. Court then shoved the player against a refrigerator in the gym and forced him to clean up his own vomit from the trash can, which Mr. Court had thrown across the weight room. Others state that Mr. Court just threw the can against the wall, without touching the player, and the spilled vomit was then cleaned by a staff member.
Court crossed a line of abusive speech toward the players, whether he believes he did or not.
This included challenging a player’s manhood and hurling homophobic slurs (which Mr. Court denies but was recounted by many). Additionally, Mr. Court would attempt to humiliate players in front of their teammates by throwing food, weights, and on one occasion a trash can full of vomit, all behavior unacceptable by any reasonable standard. These actions failed the student-athletes he claimed to serve.
2. The whole Maryland athletic department has been deeply dysfunctional.
The report describes palace intrigue between current athletic director Damon Evans and his predecessor, Kevin Anderson. Anderson thinks Evans tried to overthrow him and take his job. Athletic department employees didn’t have a clear reporting structure, including staffers who worked for the football program itself, and specifically Court.
There were inconsistent org charts with administrators, Court, and Durkin disagreeing about who Court reported to.
The confusion over to whom Mr. Court reported is a striking illustration of the Athletics Department’s disarray.
Maryland ultimately fired Anderson under odd circumstances. (More on that shortly.) Evans was the interim AD after that, including when McNair collapsed at a workout and died. University president Wallace Loh has since promoted Evans to permanent AD.
The report ultimately put responsibility on the university for the dysfunction in the athletic department.
3. Durkin’s relationship with Maryland’s leadership is so bad that it seems highly unlikely he could ever coach there again.
The report contains many examples of Durkin wanting things the athletic department would not give him and having poor relations with its leaders. That includes an attempt to get a football team-only psychologist for players and to transform the school’s policy on players and marijuana to be less “punitive” and more “therapeutic.”
The commission said that Durkin, in an interview, “expressed frustration with the level of support, and the lack of communication, he received from Athletics.” It also said Durkin “found the Maryland bureaucracy to be more challenging than what he had experienced at other schools,” and suggests he wasn’t given a chance to tell “his side of the story” when Maryland suspended him following ESPN’s reporting in August.
It has always seemed farfetched that Durkin would ever return to the Maryland sideline. His buyout is about $5 million, and barring a Maryland attempt to fire him for cause, the university will have to pay him that to walk away, or try for a settlement.
4. When SB Nation asked for Maryland’s strength coach’s performance reviews in August, the school curiously wouldn’t release them. It turns out that’s because the strength coach was barely supervised at all.
An August public records request filed by SB Nation sought Court’s contract information, in addition to any performance reviews and personnel files. Maryland cited a state statute in not releasing Court’s reviews and personnel files. Well, those did not exist:
... Rick Court was effectively accountable to no one, and the training staff went relatively unsupervised for extended periods due, in part, to a rift between the Athletics Director (“AD”) and his deputy, which permeated the entire department. There was no formal mechanism to assess coaching performance. There was not a single performance review for Mr. Court during his tenure at Maryland.
5. We now know for sure why Anderson, Maryland’s former AD, went on a sham “sabbatical” just after the start of the 2017 football season. And it’s bad.
In the fall of 2017, reports emerged that Maryland was firing Anderson, the athletic director who’d hired Durkin. The timing was surprising, with the football team off to a decent start that included a season-opening win at Texas.
Anderson, it turns out, had gone outside university protocol and used the athletic department to retain counsel for two football players who had been accused of sexual misconduct. Their accuser was another Maryland student.
Dr. Loh found it disturbing that Mr. Anderson provided financial resources to the accused, while the complainant, who was also a student affiliated with the Athletics Department, was not provided with any assistance.
That’s a fireable offense, so why didn’t Maryland just fire Anderson then? The school put him on a six-month sabbatical, for two reasons:
Powerful Maryland people worried that appearing to discipline Anderson right then would lead to speculation that Maryland’s cherished basketball program had gotten caught up in the FBI’s investigation into college basketball corruption. That story had just broken into the national spotlight at the time. (Of course, Maryland has gotten caught up in that federal investigation anyway.)
The “grace period” helped Anderson get another job without looking like he’d been fired.
All of that led to months of uncertainty and instability within the athletic department, which likely didn’t do much good for the well-being of anyone who worked or played in it.
6. Maryland players had varying views about the program they played in.
The report uses the lack of consensus about some of the allegations to back itself up, especially where it declines to call the team’s culture “toxic.”
There was no uniform rejection of Maryland’s coaching staff, and no uniform rejection of the treatment of players, by any of the groups of stakeholders interviewed by this Commission. The lone, clear consistency was that Mr. Court’s level of profanity was often excessive and personal in nature. In light of our conclusion that Maryland’s football culture was not “toxic,” we do not find that the culture caused the tragic death of Jordan McNair.
7. But, on the whole, Maryland players don’t seem happy.
The investigative team polled Maryland players about how they felt about different elements of their program, including their overall experience. Judging by their responses on a 0.5-to-5 scale, Maryland players are less satisfied with their program than other surveyed players. Views are especially negative toward Court, Durkin, and “culture/values:”
Tumblr media
8. A consistent theme alleged by those interviewed: Durkin doesn’t treat players well if they’re not starters or important on-field contributors.
As one player puts it:
“If you’re not a superstar he doesn’t really care about you. You are just a number on the roster. He needs to learn how to control his staff and become a decent human being. He should not be our head coach.”
One player’s parents say that Court once prohibited a player from sitting on a heated bench during a November game, saying that bench was only for starters, and that Durkin backed that view:
The parents contended that their son deserved a scholarship (he was a walk-on) and that he should be given “a legitimate opportunity to compete for playing time.” They said that Mr. Court (and two other coaches, including Mr. Durkin) had subjected their son to physical and verbal abuse.
The ball is now back in Maryland’s court as to what to do next.
The university system now has the report, and it still has a head coach, president, and AD whose statuses are in flux. What happens now is up to Maryland’s board regents.

My SFG-1 Weekend Knowledge
kettlebells I attended the StrongFirst Girya stage 1 certification in between September 14th and 16th in Tacoma, WA. For the duration of the a few working day event I learned a good deal about myself, the StrongFirst organization, and what I want to function on each physically and mentally in myself shifting ahead. I did not attain the teacher certification, but I did get the education guide and coaching cues that will let me to notify others how to safely and successfully use kettlebells utilizing their system. I arrived into the weekend considering that a B would be appropriate to move. It is not. This was an exceptionally arrogant placement I experienced taken on, contemplating that I could do most of it without having carrying out all of it. I was doing work with an SFG-one trainer, Evan Supanich of Vive Fitness (in between June and September), who would explain to me even though I was undertaking my turkish get up that they would “dock me” for the duration of the certification for not corkscrewing my shoulder at a complete lockout position going up or likely down. I figured hey I have the bulk of the movement designs down, no huge offer if it’s not a hundred%. ninety% is near ample proper? No. It has to be to the standard. [addition] Evan is an exceptionally exceptional mentor. I want that to be a hundred% obvious. He had about eleven weeks to operate with me and experienced to make a decision in between repairing every minor micro deficiency in my form, whilst disregarding the simple fact I could only push my needed fat bell three moments, or he could work on getting me robust genuinely swift and we would hope for the best on getting by way of the skills part. Ideal sort without having being able to drive the correct sized bodyweight would be a fail regardless, acquiring sturdy adequate to do the exercise routines at the essential fat at least would give me a combating likelihood.[end addition] The standard The common can be humorous. The one talent I did display a hundred% was the squat. That truly can make me satisfied that I passed this one as I experienced difficulty with squatting appropriately two several years in the past. I was a knee ahead sitter / squatter, which means I would shoot my knees ahead instead of taking pictures my butt again to initiate the movement. I nonetheless do that if I try out a straight arm overhead squat. But my typical squat is reliable. In any case, there is a part of the common where you need to “grunt” to start off relocating up in your squat. Technically its to tighten every thing among your neck and your pelvis so you defend your backbone. I never grunted during follow, I just exhaled hard and brought myself back up to standing. So during the evaluation I experienced to bear in mind to “grunt” to go. Did it do everything for me? No. Did it move their regular? It sure did. If you are fascinated in pursuing your SFG-one I would highly, highly suggest you locate out what the existing specifications are and make certain you fulfill almost everything to a T. Do not go in pondering that you can get away with a point listed here or a issue there not becoming best. That was a bad presumption on my portion that price me. [addition] You should really don't believe I’m making exciting of, or don’t recognize the importance of the standards. The standards are produced by scientists who are continually creating micro changes (which is why folks need to recertify each two years to discover what the scientists discovered) to practice people in the safest and most successful way. If you perform the exercises to the standard you reduce the chance of damage while also targeting the appropriate muscle mass teams to get the most bang for your buck from the physical exercise. My variety one concern to operate on From my test on your own, my variety 1 issue was with my shoulder not being corkscrewed in. That implies I’m not obtaining the lat engagement I require, or the upper back again muscle tissues working correctly. This can lead to problems in which other muscle tissues that shouldn’t be doing the large perform finish up doing it producing compensations or even worse, harm. The “core tight” statement is to defend your reduced back again from injuries. If you repeat too numerous exercises with a weak, unprotected reduced back you are going to hurt yourself. If you try out to do a turkish get up with an un-corkscrewed shoulder with a excess weight you cannot manage you can blow out your shoulder or collapse to the floor and blow out your wrist and/or elbow. Security is essential. The flip aspect becoming the effectiveness of the movements. If you do the shift properly then you get the total physique workout that was designed by science to be the most helpful. This means you really do not have to go do a bunch of bicep curls afterwords. You are doing work your whole human body which is good. I go into a rant more down about how eighty% in my guide is close ample as extended as an individual isn’t carrying out some thing super hazardous. They go over cueing during the certification. If a person is doing 5 issues improper, do not consider to appropriate 5 items at as soon as. Correct one, possibly 2 items at a single time. If you question them to change 5 factors they’ll modify nothing. If you request for two you will almost certainly get one. Their methodology close to cueing falls in properly with my methodology of not halting someone for undertaking 80% of the motion. The trick is to attempt and get them from eighty% to one hundred% at some point. I think battle athletes will have the most difficult time with often performing the moves 100% correctly. From some the battle athletes I’ve interacted with (myself provided), if one thing is hurt you work about it. If I have blisters on my arms I technically shouldn’t be trying to thoroughly clean or snatch. But I did. And my clean doesn’t drop down as much back into my hips as is ought to as I’m dragging across my blisters. So that produces a poor movement sample in my head. But I’m stubborn from seeking to teach via it. I simply cannot remember if this is on the website everywhere but I got my initial stripe on my white belt in BJJ on a busted ankle. I practically couldn’t stand on my still left leg so I popped a bunch of asprin, set on an ankle brace and went to tests. Fortunately all the movements I was envisioned to do didn’t actually require inserting much bodyweight on that ankle and I passed. This is the kind of mentality that exists in the overcome sports entire world that interprets inadequately into the requirements world of StrongFirst Kettlebells. For a combat athlete if the stomach muscles damage you function about it. That reinforces negative motion styles. The huge lesson I learned (and which is why I say more down I’ll give myself eighteen months to move even although 1 of my assistant instructors says I could do it in three) is that I require to just take the time to mend so I really do not train undesirable movement designs. Instruction harm is poor. If you can’t do the movement accurately for what ever cause you possibly shouldn’t be doing it (that coaching session.[conclude addition] The other thing is be completely ready for a lot of critiquing on your methods, even if you have almost everything dialed in to a T. I walked in considering that I knew what I was performing. I did not. My “pretty close” didn’t perform. I would get comments like “your motion styles are there but you’re a bit bending your wrist,” which also is a fail. If you occur in pondering you have the common principles down but are not a hundred% it’ll be a very extended weekend of correction following correction with not adequate time to make them all to pass. I essentially set my life on keep in June to prepare for the certification as I wasn’t quite robust ample nevertheless. So I qualified for toughness, and stopped undertaking BJJ and Muay Thai although I did it. I started out to resent kettlebell training in direction of the conclude for it robbing me of my hobbies. I didn’t have my snatch down solid so I would prepare with blisters on my palms to try out and get it down pat. I would swing weighty 32 kg bells to get far more hip generate. The irony on this a single is that my appropriate arm snatch passed normal, my still left arm snatch most most likely would have passed normal had I not stopped at 3, due to a blister on my hand and me not experience as strong as I ought to have to proceed (far more on that in a moment.) So swinging a heavier bell helped me create the hip energy emotion to snatch properly. Great. Even so, someplace alongside the way I missing my lat link on the swing and began employing my higher shoulder muscle tissues to pull the bell up on the heavier swings, which developed a fall short state of affairs on the swing. I gave myself too limited of a runway to toughness up. I think the suitable way to get on the SFG-1 trainer cert if you are interested in pursuing it is as follows: Make positive you are more robust than the requirements before you even believe about signing up to go right after it. I signed up and then went right after energy. Make confident that you really don't sacrifice form for energy. If something you do does not meet up with standards you will not pass. Really do not prepare your self into the floor. That goes towards the rules of the group. I believe this is hardest for men and women who like things like martial arts as we have a tendency to prepare even though sore, teach even though harm, and carry on going, heading, heading until you cannot. That mentality with the SFG teaches the entire body inappropriate movement patterns when you’re striving to perform around something which will take absent your capacity to pass. For me at minimum I missing strength on test day. Anxiety, pressure, journey (I’m a terrible traveler and really do not snooze nicely in resorts), and the general tempo of the tests left me experience weaker than I typically am. This is why I suggest getting much better than your take a look at bell prior to you even consider about signing up. If you can do a bell or two greater for expectations then a power reduction on the working day of tests won’t issue in the slightest. Extra worthwhile notes you must know I had been conditioning myself for what I believed would be an exhausting actual physical weekend. I purchased a billion snacks before I went that have been complete of electrolytes, protein, and carbs contemplating I would want them. It is not truly that sort of weekend. You do do the movements all through the weekend so the personnel on hand can observe you and correct you the place you need to be corrected, but they do it in a way that doesn’t break down the human body. I was less sore coaching with them for 2 and a fifty percent times than I typically am performing my possess coaching for a few several hours a day. It’s a psychological workout. It is 2 and a fifty percent days of enter on how to proper whatsoever it is you’re carrying out that is not standard. Evan experienced warned me just before I confirmed up that if I was not mentally tough that they would chew me up and spit me out. That was very correct. I felt like I walked in considering I knew what I was carrying out. I had labored with Brian, heading difficult on instruction from January to June and Evan from June to September. I experienced labored the actions, I experienced carried out a lot of of the drills that I saw during the weekend. My strength, physique consciousness, and posture experienced enhanced significantly throughout that time. But I was beginning from a massive deficit of being an business office dweller who didn’t at any time exercise, to a muay thai dude who hung out in a ahead hunched position, to a BJJ male who hung out in a forward hunched place, to starting to operate with Brian on power coaching to create my human body up. My posture is even now enhancing but its not excellent. A good deal of the MMA targeted people at the certification appeared to have troubles. Resolve your posture before pursuing this cert if you have negative posture. Or at least know how to proper it for the duration of the movements at bare bare minimum. Upper cross syndrome does not satisfy specifications. I’m presently pursuing the NASM Corrective Exercising Specialization on the subject to more proper myself and will be operating with Evan on this as well. In any case, be geared up for individuals to occur in excess of and proper issues that need to have to be corrected. I wasn’t ready for that. I believed I realized what I was undertaking. In the first hour or so I was getting corrected on my swing. I considered my swing was reliable. Evan experienced picked up on a shoulder shrug I experienced produced the 7 days prior to I went. He had also picked up on some rotation I had heading on. My assumption is that arrived from striving to power up also swiftly with the more substantial bells. Once more, brain condition of get the job completed as opposed to do what you can appropriately. My weekend started to tumble aside as quickly as I read my swing wasn’t appropriate. I realized what Evan had explained but did not completely soak up that. Psychological exercising, keep in mind? Then it additional fell apart when I couldn’t locate a location on the floor to follow alongside with the bodyweight get up drill. Don't forget I was below the assumption I could walk in, do factors about 80% right and go. For me in my basic apply that is my regular. If I’m instructing a person one thing and they do it 80% appropriate I’m content, as prolonged as the other twenty% is not some super terrifying that could cause them hurt. I want them relocating and profitable and becoming productive. This cert isn’t that. They want you a hundred% dialed in. It’s a brand name normal. This isn’t your regional health and fitness expert that you go pay a visit to for an hour a few times a 7 days who cheers you on even though you function out. These are individuals who have to hold you to the maximum of standards to keep the quality of their brand name. By some means my brain didn’t make that connection till I practically just wrote that sentence. “The only accurate knowledge is in understanding you know nothing at all.” – Socrates. Consider to go in with that mentality. I did not. I went in contemplating I knew what was up and swiftly discovered I did not. And my mind did not like hearing that. It’s a mentally taxing weekend. I wished to bail the very first working day for the duration of the lunch split since my moi could not take care of the volume of corrections I experienced coming my way. These corrections contain the way you sit even though you hear, so that’s the place my correct your posture point truly arrives into play. I wound up with rug burn off on my fingers by the finish of the weekend from sitting the way they corrected me into sitting down, which did indeed influence my get up come test working day. Do request concerns when they appear more than to appropriate you. I understand now that I paid out for a service for them to correct what was wrong with me. That’s virtually what I (and foreseeable future you whose looking through this) are spending for. It’s not paying for a extended workout, like I partially anticipated and conditioned for. It’s paying for them to inform you what you’re carrying out that is not one hundred% and them telling you what you can do to correct that. Items began to easy out for me when I commenced asking queries, which was for the duration of working day 2. I experienced responses on my squat not being as deep as it could go. Personalized rant – Being that the squat is something I labored on from July ’16 to existing working day I’m extremely extremely touchy about this subject matter. I utilised to round like insane about the shoulders and go knees forward. Thankfully, I really don't do that any longer. I have slight rounding at the best which I’m continuing to function on. Also, I know how deep I can go just before I round out of manage. So I go to there. I in fact stay away from a training class now that has relocating squats as my kind starts off to go and I really do not get pleasure from it. I’m happy with my kettlebell entrance squats for now. The level is I’m quite sensitive toward my squat. So they came more than to give me pointers on my squat. They mentioned my backbone was not fully straight. So I asked “Am I fully rounding out of handle?” This was the sensitive me asking. The answer was no so I ongoing doing what I was carrying out. And I passed that ability. If you’re sensitive to critiquing like I am, inquiring inquiries is a great way to internalize and humanize it. Hearing that you are doing something mistaken can be hurtful. Asking for clarification in just what it is that you’re doing wrong so you can internalize it appropriately and determine out what to do from there with the data can soften the blow and aid you develop as a human being. Will I pursue the certification later in the future? Possibly. I’m certainly performing the corrective workout routines 1st to resolve my posture. [addition] Talked with 1 of my assistant instructors, my posture is not as poor as I internalize it to be. This is a single of people issues in which I myself have a adverse human body graphic and need to perform on it. Evan advised meditation. I listened to two times in a week that I require to get out of my own head. I’ll try out meditation. [end addition] I’m not heading to set myself up with this sort of a quick runway once again. If I go following it it’ll be 18 months or so down the street where I’m not beating myself up. I don’t want to skip out on my BJJ training or Muay Thai education again. It is a amazing certification with a really high bar. But nothing at all in this world is really worth sacrificing every thing else for. My team chief (who I’ll be bugging to read this whole point) advised me at the finish not to consider of my not obtaining the cert this go about as a are unsuccessful. He told me I produced a whole lot of gains in a brief interval of time and to maintain coaching. And for the file my going for walks up and saying “I know I unsuccessful miserably” was a defense system to attempt and soften the blow for myself. I had constructed up seeking the cert to the level I sacrificed much more than I need to have – rest, hobbies, and many others. I learned throughout the weekend I was not fairly prepared. Likely from sofa potato to SFG-one in two many years is a really steep hill. If I pushed I could almost certainly do it in three. But I’ll enable it occur organically as an alternative of forcing it. I can instruct other folks to their standards now, I just do not have the model behind me. I know what I require to correct in myself to satisfy their requirements. I know not to rush my education. I recognize their concepts are fully distinct from the beat oneself into the ground design of education I think of from currently being in the MMA planet. Their method is made to not be done to exhaustion. You should not be tearing up your human body needing extended durations of restoration to proceed. You should not be doing their exercises when your palms are torn up or your ab muscles are so sore it hurts to cough. This was my misunderstanding heading into the weekend. Like I stated earlier mentioned, I’m significantly less conquer up from their 20+ hour three day seminar than I was carrying out 4 times of my personal “prep” in a six day time period. My again was so tight during my personal four working day coaching that my massage therapist experienced to work double time to loosen me up. I’m likely to just take what I discovered from them and implement it to a significantly smoother education protocol that assists my BJJ and Muay Thai as opposed to currently being in immediate conflict with it. I’ll write a separate report about the insane prep I invented for myself. Brian experienced sent me an real SFG prep, that seeking again I need to have adopted, as opposed to carrying out my personal insane issue. Here’s the funny thing. I imagined getting individuals letters right after my name meant the entire world to me. By the end of working day one particular they mattered much less to me. My interpretation of what one particular of the instructors mentioned to me is that I was considerably less standoff-ish, far more comfortable, and a lot more open to ideas occur working day two and working day three. I experienced permit go of the require to have the letters. Working day 1 was a harsh realization to me. I thought I experienced it in the bag. I approved that wasn’t true by working day two and on day 3 I experienced approved my fate that this was not the time for me to get those letters. Included Unadvertised bonuses The cert is good at training you a few issues – you get much more comfy with obtaining eyes on you, specially while demonstrating a ability. I utilized to detest having eyes on me but I had to start acquiring used to it for BJJ and Muay Thai so I did ballroom dancing displays to get eyes on me. The SFG-1 undoubtedly gets far more eyes on you to relieve you into that comfort and ease zone. It also receives you a lot more comfortable with getting critiqued. I really don't feel anybody really likes getting corrected all the time. But soon after three days of it it gets less difficult. You make close friends there. I wound up hanging close to with all the BJJ men. Stunning appropriate? Like the Muay Thai Costa Rica train-cation and the BJJ cruise I fulfilled like minded individuals from other locations. And now I have new buddies I can go prepare with when I travel. That is a awesome reward. My closing advice for any individual seeking the SFG-1 instructor certification Make certain you are much better physically than you want to be just before you indication up. I would hugely advise heading to a 1 day seminar just before hand that has folks strolling all around to right anything you may possibly be performing that does not meet standard prior to you indication up for the a few working day. Placing up a cadence with a licensed teacher on a month to month or quarterly foundation even though you’re education up to the cert would be good. And understand when they say “you’ll get docked” that indicates right that right away. Know that you have to be a hundred% on stage. There is no B or C. This is a pass / fall short technique. Condition yourself with out beating yourself into the floor. Learn how to get treatment of your fingers. Be ready for a mentally exhausting 3 working day experience. Have outstanding human body awareness. And recognize that you can not pressure it. If you do not go during that 3 day period of time you can pass later on. The “not absolutely everyone passes” warning on their web site is legit. And try to have exciting with it.

Cornish Pirates: How probably the most distant group on the UK mainland retains going
Cornish Pirates: How probably the most distant group on the UK mainland retains going
Cornish Pirates: How probably the most distant group on the UK mainland retains going
Cornish Pirates’ dwelling on the Mennaye Area will be one of the crucial intimidating atmospheres within the second tier
“It wasn’t that way back that I needed to take somebody’s window out so we may get their couch into the home.”
Not the type of factor you count on to listen to from the coach of an expert sports activities group however then once more, the Cornish Pirates should not your common group.
No aspect on the UK mainland is additional away from their nearest rivals than the Penzance-based membership and it results in a novel rugby tradition in West Cornwall.
The Pirates are 222 miles away from Hartpury – their ‘native derby’ – though Jersey is geographically nearer however their away day to the Channel Islands entails both a flight or a ship journey.
Joint-head coach Alan Paver, who additionally doubles up as a part-time glazier and removing man, stated: “We’re remoted away from all over the place else, so we’re reliant on one another.
“It is not like they will simply go dwelling to Manchester or Leeds or London day-after-day. They will go a month or two months at a time with out seeing family and friends.
“We’re very reliant on one another, so we have got to verify we decide the suitable character after which after they get right here, we have got to verify we give them the suitable assist and 9 occasions out of 10 they flourish with that.”
Metropolis-dwellers needn’t apply
Penzance has a inhabitants of simply over 21,000 and the fishing city can also be the top of Brunel’s Nice Western railway line.
If you’re somebody who likes the tube, common big-name concert events or journeys to designer retailers, it most likely shouldn’t be the place for you.
“We have loads of native boys concerned these days which has actually revitalised the membership and given us extra of an identification,” says Gavin Cattle – the ying to Paver’s yang on the Pirates’ teaching group.
“It is recruiting boys from the surface to strengthen us who slot in with our values. The likes of Callum Patterson – he is an Irishman, a farmer, he is used to the countryside, he comes down right here and the setting would not really feel international to him.
“It is the identical with the Kiwis, Jake Ashby’s from an identical background of possibly being remoted in a location.
“We’re cautious with who we recruit. It does pigeon-hole a number of individuals and does limit a number of issues, however I do consider that is our power as nicely.”
Making ends meet
Millionaire businessman Dickie Evans (centre) returned to the membership in 2016 after a two-year absence in a takeover with New Zealand-based traders to stave off monetary issues
The Championship – English rugby union’s second tier – has had its fair proportion of monetary disasters.
London Welsh disappeared altogether after going bust in 2017, Jersey needed to dump their floor final 12 months whereas Nottingham and former Championship aspect Plymouth Albion have additionally had cash issues.
So, how do you make ends meet when you find yourself so distant from all over the place else?
“Most golf equipment, and I embody Premiership golf equipment in addition to lots of the Championship golf equipment, depend on our traders, that is simply the best way it’s and we have now to plan for that,” stated chairman Paul Durkin.
“What we have now tried to do, and we’re doing, is wanting ahead and making an attempt to show this right into a enterprise via the Stadium for Cornwall the place we’ll have the enterprise aspect of operations which can then fund rugby.”
The plan is for the membership to relocate round 25 miles up the A30 to Truro and share a stadium with the town’s soccer group and the native additional training faculty.
It’s hoped they will emulate their nearest Premiership membership Exeter Chiefs, who’ve a thriving conferencing enterprise at Sandy Park which has helped the membership grow to be the one one within the prime flight to make a revenue.
“You need to personal your individual floor, that is completely key,” continued Durkin. “You want to entice supporters to pay via the gates and the third is that secondary earnings via different elements of the enterprise.
“It is placing that alongside the rugby and constructing a squad that can be profitable and that is not simple, it is a juggling act.”
The Pirates household
On the age of 41 Alan Paver remains to be registered as a participant for the Pirates
Paver, whose robust Yorkshire accent has not been blunted by 16 years in Cornwall, added: “In a short time all of the gamers realise that we’re a household on the finish of the peninsula.
“What you discover is they are not making an attempt to flee right here, it isn’t like ‘it is three o’clock, we’re going dwelling’. They actually really feel comfy right here within the setting and with a small quantity of useful resource we’re in a position to do large issues right here.”
And it isn’t simply home windows and sofas that individuals have mucked in with.
“It is not unusual for us to have loads of hand-me-down washing machines and fridge freezers,” Paver joked.
“Each every now and then one thing will go lacking and one of many younger lads has needed to promote it for his evening out or no matter.
“It’s enjoyable, it is groundhog day as a result of after they come it is the identical issues again and again, ‘how do I register with a physician?’, for the foreigners ‘I want a checking account’ and for the fellows coming down with the household ‘how do I get my sofa up these tiny little cottage steps?'”
View on the season forward
Bristol had been promoted again to the Premiership final season with two video games of the season left to play and received 31-29 on the Mennaye final September
The results of the Championship in most seasons in a foregone conclusion – the group relegated from the highest tier the season earlier than inevitably bounces straight again. Solely Exeter in 2010, London Welsh in 2012 and Bristol in 2016 have bucked the pattern.
How can the Pirates do in a league the place London Irish would be the robust favourites and well-financed Ealing appear to be their greatest rivals?
“It is simply steady enchancment for us, placing a league standing on it might be silly due to damage and the supply of dual-registered gamers,” says Welshman Cattle.
“However we have got core of boys, we all know with invoice of well being we are able to compete with most groups within the Championship, if not each group.
After a fourth-placed end final season, Paver is a little more candid.
“I do assume we’re able to possibly going a place higher,” he stated. “I feel that if we get it proper firstly of the season we may carry momentum via.
“There isn’t a doubt that we’re going to hit a tough spell. However we all know what that is like mentally and we all know tips on how to get out of that, so if we get in a tough scenario we all know precisely what to do, we have got the expertise.”

Juggernaut Index, No. 29: The last days of Flacco
Tumblr media
The end of the Flacco era is upon us. (AP Photo/Nick Wass)
If, as some believe, the state of U.S.-British relations has worsened in recent months, then we all know who to blame: Joe Flacco.
Flacco’s dreadful performance last season against Jacksonville at Wembley Stadium damaged the reputation of American quarterbacking on an international stage and brought shame to the city of Baltimore. He was breathtakingly bad that day, completing only eight of 18 pass attempts for 28 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions. He somehow averaged just 1.56 yards per attempt, the third lowest single-game Y/A ever produced by a QB who attempted 18 or more passes. The game was a coming out party for the Jaguars defense, but it was also the death rattle of Flacco’s eliteness.
[Yahoo Fantasy Football leagues are open: Sign up now for free!]
By the end of the season, Flacco’s numbers were abysmal: 16 games, 3141 yards, 18 TDs, 13 INTs, 5.72 Y/A, 196.3 YPG. He didn’t pass for 300 yards or three TDs in any game, which seems ridiculous in the current era. Tom Savage, Jay Cutler and Mike Glennon all produced 300-yard performances last year. Jacoby Brissett gave us two.
We shouldn’t fail to mention the fact that Flacco’s receiving corps was horrid last season, and the opening week injury to Danny Woodhead was a minor disaster. But there’s no dressing up No. 5’s year as anything other than a flaming wreck. He’s averaged less than 7.0 Y/A in four of the past five seasons. Flacco cannot be drafted in fantasy leagues of standard size and configuration. If you happen to play in an AFC North-only league (which no one does), your top draft day priority should be to avoid Flacco. Even if the man delivers a bounce-back season at age 33, you have to consider the modest level to which he’d be bouncing. He’s never finished as a top-10 fantasy QB. There’s no significant upside here.
The Ravens drafted a dynamic young dual-threat quarterback back in April, so Flacco’s eleventh season in Baltimore might very well be his last.
Lamar Jackson is going to be a fantasy monster
If you were even semi-aware of college football over the past two years, then you’re already well aware of Jackson’s talent. He was a thrilling player at Louisville; his performance last season was in many ways better than his Heisman-winning play in 2016. Jackson possesses rare rushing ability, routinely delivering game-changing plays from both designed runs and scramble situations. He’s a blur. He ran for over 100 yards in 10 of his 13 games last season and reached 300 passing yards six times.
Jackson wasn’t exceptionally accurate at Louisville, but his completion percentage improved each season (59.1 in 2017) and he averaged 8.3 Y/A for his career. He actually had the lowest velocity reading among QBs who threw at the combine (49 mph), yet concerns about arm strength never appear on his scouting reports. His average depth of target was among the highest in his draft class per Pro Football Focus (12.0) and his deep passing stats aren’t discouraging.
Tumblr media
Lamar Jackson has what it takes to be a fantasy star. Dynasty leaguers, you want him. (AP Photo/Patrick Semansky)
Jackson will be a fantasy star the moment he takes the field. He is, right now, the most gifted rushing quarterback in the NFL. (No disrespect intended to Cam Newton.) Jackson demands a full-time defensive spy, which of course creates advantages for his receivers. Even if he’s no better than a mediocre passer when he debuts, he’s a lock to deliver starting-quality fantasy numbers thanks to his his rushing talent. Jackson is the top rookie QB on my board for dynasty purposes, no question.
Flacco’s name is still atop the depth chart for the Ravens, so there’s zero urgency to rush Jackson onto the field. He’ll have time to develop under OC Marty Mornhinweg, a coach who’s worked with some of the most skilled dual-threat quarterbacks in league history, including Mike Vick and Steve Young. Simply put, Jackson landed in a terrific situation in terms of his long-term development. Baltimore is already putting Flacco and Jackson on the field together, searching for ways to get the ball in the rookie’s hands. In Jackson’s best years, he should be something like a combo QB2/RB2. He’s a highlight machine.
Let’s meet the retooled Ravens receiving corps
Mike Wallace, Jeremy Maclin and Benjamin Watson are out; Michael Crabtree, John Brown, Willie Snead and a pair of rookie tight ends are in. This is an astonishing level of turnover, which means it’s probably doomed to failure. Continuity is a big deal in the NFL. Still, it’s hard to blame this team for blowing up the receiving corps, because it was a fantastically unproductive group last season. (Big assist to Flacco.) Wallace’s 748 receiving yards led all Ravens. No player on this team caught more than four TD passes. The best thing we can say about the Ravens’ 2017 passing game is that we’ll never have to see it again.
Crabtree is a clear upgrade over every receiver Baltimore had on the roster last season, and he enters camp as the team’s unrivaled No. 1. He caught 25 TD passes over the past three years in Oakland, twice finishing as a top-20 fantasy wideout. It wouldn’t be much of a shock if he saw 130-140 targets in the season ahead, and, with a workload like that, he’d likely produce WR2-ish numbers. Crabtree figures to be the most reliable member of this receiving corps. At his current ADP (66.6, WR27), he seems like a fair bargain.
Brown is a terrific vertical threat with a 1000-yard season on his resume, but, as most of you know, a sickle-cell condition has limited his availability. When he’s right, he’s a dangerous receiver. It’s tempting to recommend Brown only as a best-ball option, but that’s a bit too dismissive. He’s a very good player when fully functional and he’s pretty much always available in the final round in redraft formats. Brown is far from the worst flier you can take; he was a 65-1003-7 player three years ago, and he’s only 28.
Snead is coming off a value-crushing season, limited by both suspension and injury. Like Brown, he peaked in 2015, working with a better QB than he’ll be dealing with in 2018. Snead will play the slot and function as the third receiving option for a team that isn’t likely to deliver more than two ownable pass-catchers.
Rookie tight end Hayden Hurst seemed like a semi-intriguing fantasy option when Baltimore selected him in the first round, but his appeal quickly dimmed when the team added Oklahoma’s Mark Andrews in Round 3. Andrews caught 62 balls for 958 yards and eight spikes in the Sooners’ Tecmo offense last season, outproducing Hurst by a wide margin (44-559-2). Neither player is likely to achieve fantasy relevance in 2018. Tight end isn’t a spot where we expect rookies to thrive. Dynasty drafters, you want Miami’s Mike Gesicki over both Hurst and Andrews.
Tumblr media
Alex Collins was a notable bright spot for Baltimore’s offense last season. (AP Photo/Nick Wass)
Alex Collins is legit
The one positive development for Baltimore in an otherwise awful excursion to London last season was the emergence of Alex Collins at running back. He rushed nine times for 82 yards that day, leapfrogging Terrance West in the team’s backfield hierarchy. Collins was released by the Seahawks at the end of the preseason and signed to the Ravens’ practice squad a week before the opener. He was barely clinging to a spot in the league when Woodhead’s injury and West’s struggles created an opportunity. He would finish the season with 1160 scrimmage yards and six TDs on 235 touches.
Collins ranked second among all NFL backs in breakaway runs last season (16) according to Player Profiler, behind only Kareem Hunt, and he finished ninth in evaded tackles (76). He was pretty damn good. Collins isn’t exceptionally fast by NFL standards, but he was a hard-charging and decisive runner last year, gaining every inch available to him. Baltimore’s offensive line graded well last year, despite the injury-related absence of six-time Pro Bowler Marshal Yanda.
Collins, to me, seems like a relative steal at his draft price (ADP 34.8, RB19). Buck Allen is not a serious threat — he hasn’t averaged more than 3.9 YPC in any season — and Kenneth Dixon is simply fighting for a job. Dixon missed the entire 2017 season due to suspension and knee surgery. Collins is this team’s unchallenged lead back entering camp.
Baltimore’s defense led the NFL in takeaways last season (34) and ranked sixth in points allowed (18.9 PPG), so this D/ST is a draft-worthy fantasy asset. The Ravens will open the season with a home matchup against Buffalo and then a road game at Cincy, giving this D extra appeal. Linebacker C.J. Mosley delivered a career-high 132 tackles last year, so he remains an upper-tier IDP.
2017 Offensive Stats & Ranks
Points per game – 24.7 (ninth in NFL) Pass YPG – 189.4 (29) Rush YPG – 116.0 (11) Yards per play – 4.6 (31) Plays per game – 65.9 (9)

NBA notebook: Lakers will reportedly pass on LiAngelo Ball
It appears LaVar Ball faces an uphill battle getting his son LiAngelo a roster spot with the Los Angeles Lakers.
UCLA basketball player LiAngelo Ball listens at a press conference at UCLA after flying back from China where he was detained on suspicion of shoplifting, in Los Angeles, California, U.S., November 15, 2017. REUTERS/Lucy Nicholson
LiAngelo, the younger brother of Lakers point guard Lonzo Ball and middle of three basketball-playing Ball brothers, worked out for Los Angeles on Tuesday. In the aftermath of the workout, the Lakers have no interest in drafting LiAngelo or signing the 19-year-old to play for their G League team, the South Bay Lakers, according to a report from USA Today Sports.
The 6-foot-5 LiAngelo said recently that he wanted to join his brother, the No. 2 overall pick in last summer’s NBA draft, on the Lakers. LaVar, the patriarch of the Ball family, has said previously all three of his sons, including 16-year-old LaMelo, would be playing for the Lakers in 2020.
LiAngelo left UCLA during his freshman season for a Lithuanian professional league following his shoplifting arrest on a team trip to China. LiAngelo averaged 12.6 points per game for Vytautas Prienu this season.
—Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love cleared concussion protocol and started Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors.
Love missed almost all of Games 6 and 7 of the Eastern Conference finals following a head-to-head collision with Boston Celtics rookie Jayson Tatum in the first quarter on Friday. Love was re-evaluated Saturday before the decision to hold him out of Sunday’s Game 7, though he traveled with the team to Boston and attended the game.
Jeff Green started in Love’s place against Boston and totaled 19 points and eight rebounds in Game 7. Love, 29, is averaging 13.9 points and 10.0 rebounds per game in the postseason.
—The Philadelphia 76ers and head coach Brett Brown agreed to a contract extension through the 2021-22 season, the team announced.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Brown had one season remaining on his current contract, making his new deal a three-year pact. Philadelphia went 52-30 in the regular season, the most wins for the franchise in a season since 2000-01.
Brown joined the 76ers in 2013, leading the team to its first postseason berth in six seasons this year. In the playoffs, the No. 3 seed Sixers cruised past the Miami Heat in the first round before being eliminated by the second-seeded Boston Celtics in five games in the second round.
—The National Basketball Players Association named Dr. William D. Parham its first director of mental health and wellness.
In his role, Parham will oversee the development and management of the newly launched NBPA Mental Health and Wellness Program designed to assist all members of the union in addressing any mental health challenges or issues they face.
During the current NBA season, Toronto Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan opened up about his bouts with depression and Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love wrote about his experience with panic attacks and anxiety. Cavaliers coach Tyronn Lue discussed before the start of the NBA Finals his absence from the bench, which was caused in part by anxiety.
—All-Stars DeMar DeRozan and Joel Embiid headline the rosters for this year’s NBA exhibition in the South African capital of Pretoria on Aug. 4, the league announced.
DeRozan, of the Toronto Raptors, will lead a Team World roster that includes Dallas Mavericks forward Harrison Barnes, San Antonio Spurs forward Rudy Gay, Milwaukee Bucks forward Khris Middleton, Los Angeles Clippers forward Danilo Gallinari and Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside.
Embiid, a native of Cameroon, will play alongside Philadelphia 76ers teammate Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, Portland Trail Blazers forward Al-Farouq Aminu, Orlando Magic center Bismack Biyombo and guard Evan Fournier, New Orleans Pelicans forward Cheick Diallo and Raptors forwards Serge Ibaka and Pascal Siakam on Team Africa. Full rosters will be announced at a later date.
