GUEST WARRIORS-IFY: How To Train Your Dragon (Film Franchises)
(author’s note: hey there! sorry took me so long to send in. hope there’s no problem with the submission, tumblr’s submit box is kinda… wonky on mobile. also sorry if my bios are kinda crummy, there’s three movies and like three tv series, and i’ve also read the books, so my grasp on the when and where of the nuances of these characters is kinda fuzzy, haha. nevertheless, i hope you enjoy!)
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third: Littlepelt - A small, reddish-brown ticked tabby tom with a scar across his nose and an odd gait due to a leg injury that never healed properly. Despite his lack of skill in terms of claw-to-claw combat, and his somewhat lackluster hunting skills, he more than makes up for his shortcomings in terms of cleverness and leadership skills. He’s kind and empathetic, although sometimes to a fault - he can be too trusting out of a desire to see the good in others. He can also be prone to letting his insecurities regarding his physical skills and his short stature cloud his judgement. In spite of this, he is well-liked and has fought hard to earn the respect of his peers and clanmates.
Astrid Hofferson: Asphodelfang - A self-assured and talented golden-brown molly. She’s dedicated, dutiful, and extremely competitive. Her love for her clan is immense, and she commands respect for her talents and her ambition. She is ruled highly by emotion, her feelings often getting the better of her, which leads to her acting out impulsively and irrationally. Although she has begun to mellow out with age, no cat can deny that she’s still quite fiery.
Fishlegs Ingerman: Carpnose -A heavy-set and thick-furred golden-brown tom. Timid and not-too-good at fighting, he is very skilled when it comes to tracking and hunting, possessing quite the eye for detail. He’s warm and friendly to just about everybody, and is generally liked because of this. While he’s willing to fight for the clan if he must, he is usually one of the first to run when conflicts arise.
Snotlout Jorgenson: Slugclaw - A large black tom, with fur tinged red from time spent in the sun. He’s cocky and smug, and carries himself with an aura of superiority. Although he isn’t exactly bright, he’s well-versed in the art of combat, and goes into battle with all of the might and confidence of an ancient warrior hero. He’s also stubborn and confrontational, and likes to settle disputes with teeth and claws.
Ruffnut and Tuffnut: Weaselfur & Weevilfur - A dusky-brown molly and a dusky-brown tom, respectively. Two littermates, not exactly the sharpest tools in the shed, but respectable warriors. They often butt heads, but neither would know what to do without the other. Gobber the Belch: Gorseflower - A large, long-haired and battle-worn yellow tom, who is covered in scars. Stoatstar’s deputy and closest friend. A respectable warrior, he’s raised more apprentices than any cat in the clan, and is well-known for his teaching ability. He’s crass and outspoken, and more than reliable in a fight.
Valka: Kestreltail - A brown torbie molly, pretty and lithe but getting on in age. A strong, fearless warrior who is quite athletic and graceful. Although she isn’t much of a people person (cat cat?), she’s caring and devoted to those she is close to. She is Stoatstar’s mate, and Littlepelt’s mother.
Stoick the Vast: Stoatstar (Stoatclaw) -An immense, dark ginger tom, and the leader of Hooliganclan. Famed for his imposing figure and his unmatched skill in battle. While he’s a bit set in his ways, and has a tendency to be hard on his son, Littlepelt, his heart is always in the right place. Although his sense of justice, duty, and dedication to his clan would more than qualify him for the -heart suffix, it would be remiss for the clan not to recognize his unparalleled talent for fighting.

Early Spring
Mintswirl let out a little puff of air. Shellpaw eyed them, his paws hard at work on the poultice for the infection in Burdockheart's bone.
"Are you okay?" Shellpaw asked eventually.
"Being a healer is exhausting," Mintswirl answered simply. Shellpaw nodded.
"At least the infection in Skyrumble's tail has healed." Mintswirl hummed in agreement. "It may not have finished healing, but it's on its way." Mintswirl considered this for a moment, then purred, reached over, and patted Shellpaw's head.
"Thank you, Shellpaw. You're a very good apprentice."

Skyrumble flinched in surprise as Asphodelfang stormed up to him.
"I like you, and I think we should be mates," she informed him sternly. He stared at her, gaping.
"Oh. Uhh.. okay. I like you too?" He stammered. "I would... I would really like to be mates. Yeah."
Asphodelfang nodded curtly, and turned tail to pad towards the freshkill pile. Skyrumble stared after her, his mouth still open and his ears hot.

Late Autumn
Skyrumble hissed, his claws flexing as Mintswirl handled his tail. "I need marigold petals- Shellpaw, do you remember what marigold does?"
The apprentice nodded, the bright yellow petals in his mouth as he hurried over. "They stop bleeding and... uh... Infection?"
"Correct! Chew them up and place them on the wound." Mintswirl turned their attention back to Skyrumble. "It looks fine for now, but I'd recommend that you take it easy for now. I don't want it getting infected, especially not right before leafbare."

"Hi!"
Acornpool let out a little shriek as a brown tom leapt in front of the patrol, his tail waving excitedly. Asphodelfang rolled her eyes.
"You guys are ButterflyClan, right? I've trained so, so hard and I'm finally ready to join!"
Asphodelfang snorted. "Sorry, you've... what?"
"Trained! I know it's tough out here, but I can catch food and I'm perfectly okay with sleeping outside!"
"Well, Parsleystar was okay with allowing Algaesky and Honeydew in," Acornpool hedged. "Maybe she'd be okay with...?"
"Stan!"
"...Stan."
"If he joins, he'll have to change that name. Stan. Whoever heard of a name like that?"

Burdockheart led Barleypaw along the DogwoodClan border, casting nervous glances across the meadow into the shaded copse of trees. She bristled upon noticing a grey shape up ahead, and Barleypaw, taking note of her body language, tensed as well.
"Hello," the cat mewed, and Burdockheart relaxed slightly when she realized this was just an apprentice.
"What are you doing on our border?"
"I... I don't want to be in DogwoodClan anymore. They don't like me there." The apprentice flattened herself against the ground, looking up at Burdockheart and Barleypaw with wide, pleading eyes. "Please! I just want to be around cats who care about me! I don't have anyone in DogwoodClan!"
Burdockheart glanced down at Barleypaw, who was staring at the DogwoodClan apprentice with sad eyes. "Alright, then," she sighed. "What's your name?"
"Sorrelpaw."
"I'm sure we could find a place for you, Sorrelpaw."

Mid Summer
Hickorymarsh let out a low moan at the sight of Whiskershade's body in the camp. He stumbled over, his paws trembling. Stormclaw looked up at him as he approached, his eyes glistening.
"I'm sorry," he mumbled. Between Stormclaw's paws lay a sleeping Barleykit, exhausted by staying up for the vigil. "I know you loved her."
"You did too," Hickorymarsh croaked. Stormclaw shook his head.
"Not romantically, not like you. What Whiskershade and I had... it was different from what you felt for her, I think. It was a single night and nothing else."
"But you had a son with her. That's a connection between the two of you that I could have only dreamed of. I'm sorry for the loss of your partner."
Stormclaw nodded, his eyes back on Whiskershade's body. The two toms sat in silent grief until the sun rose.

"From this day forth, you shall be known as Acornpool. We honor your skill and cleverness, and welcome you as a full member of ButterflyClan."
Acornpool raised his head, pride rippling through his body, his bad leg trembling. Asphodelpaw cheered her brother alongside the crowd. She couldn't stop the fangs of jealousy from sinking into her heart. They were the same age, and had the same skill. Why was Acornpool a warrior now and she wasn't? He'd been sick and injured for the last two moons, while she'd been perfectly fine and had kept training and hunting. Didn't she deserve a name, too?

Gingerpaw couldn't help his flinch when Parsleystar sat next to him. He stared at his mother with wide eyes, his fur spiking nervously. She seemed... sad.
"I suppose your reaction is my own fault," she sighed, her gaze settling on the horizon. "I left you in your grief. I'm... sorry for that, Gingerpaw."
Gingerpaw gaped at her. She shifted, still pointedly not looking at him.
"It was unfair of me to do that. I'm your mother, and you needed me. You'd just lost your father. I didn't... I didn't feel like I deserved you. I didn't feel like I deserved to be happy. But that doesn't mean that I should have abandoned you like I did. If you would allow me, I would like to be your mother again."
Gingerpaw blinked at her, and the silence stretched on for a while.
"Uhm. I... I would like you to be my mother again, too. I missed you," he admitted quietly. Parsleystar finally turned to look at him, and Gingerpaw was surprised to see tears in her eyes. A raspy purr rumbled in her throat and she pressed her cheek to his.
"I missed you too, Gingerpaw. I love you."

Early Winter
The night is quiet, and the stars twinkle overhead. Burdockheart stared at them, her eyes flicking from light to light.
"Burdockheart?" Algaesky yawned, stirring from her nest. "What are you doing?"
"I'm trying to figure out which star is Tempestroar." Algaesky went quiet, settling next to Burdockheart and brushing their pelts together. They watched the sky together, leaning against each other for comfort.
"She was so young," Burdockheart sighed. "I'm glad she's with her family now, at least. But she didn't deserve to die like that."

"Hickorymarsh, you will train Acornpaw. I know that you will do this job well." Acornpaw touched noses with Hickorymarsh gently, hiding the fact that he was practically choking on excitement. He stood beside his new mentor and watched as Aspenpaw was apprenticed to Sakari, and Asphodelpaw to Stormclaw. He was wriggling in his place by the time the gathering had finally ended. He was an apprentice! He'd be the best apprentice in the whole wide world!

Frozenwhisker slipped into Parsleystar's den, his pawsteps silent. He stood there for a moment, admiring his mate and the tiny kitten at her stomach. She stirred and blinked up at him.
"Hey," he whispered, and curled around her. A tired purr rattled in her throat, and Frozenwhisker didn't bother to suppress the purr that rose in his own throat in response. He pressed his forehead against hers, his eyes slipping closed, and it wasn't long before he was sound asleep.

Burdockheart let out a low hiss of pain when Mintswirl tried to maneuver her leg. They curled their lip in sympathy.
"It's pretty badly damaged," they told her. "It might scar, it might not- it's too early to tell."
"You should have stayed away from those hills," Algaesky scolded. Burdockheart made a face at her friend. "You know that twolegs like to set traps for the rabbits there."
"We needed prey," Burdockheart grunted. "I'd hoped that there would be some rabbits stuck in those traps that the twolegs hadn't gotten to yet." Algaesky made a face right back at her.

Late Autumn
"-And the mouse says, well of course not!" Skyrumble joked. Tempestroar snorted.
"That was awful."
"Hey, you laughed!"
Tempestroar shoved him, and he shoved her right back. They scuffled for a moment, batting at each other playfully.
"Ha ha! I've got you now, Tempestroar!" Skyrumble said, pinning her to the ground. The grass behind him erupted as a giant dog emerged.
"Skyrumble!" Tempestroar shrieked, and twisted out from underneath him and launched herself between him and the dog. The dog didn't hesitate, and latched onto her and shook her body. Nausea swelled in Tempestroar's throat. The dog let go suddenly, and Tempestroar yowled as she went flying into a tree. She felt something crack, and was blinded with pain shortly after. She would come to hours later in the medicine den, Mintswirl hovering over her, and be told that she had broken a bone in the ordeal.

Algaesky limped over to Burdockheart, who perked up at the sight of her.
"You've been released!" she joked. Algaesky laughed.
"Mintswirl says that the fever's gone," she told Burdockheart, settling next to her with a grunt. "But my leg isn't going to heal any more than it has. Apparently, I have to re-learn how to walk and such." A dark shadow crossed the she-cat's face. "They say that my leg will be weak for the rest of my life, and that I'll probably have chronic pain from here on out."
Burdockheart pressed herself against her friend. "I'll help you," she reassured her. "We can work together on this. I promise. I'll never leave you to deal with this alone."

Beamsnow stared blankly at the little red body laying limply in the center of camp.
"Papa?" Asphodelkit whispered, and he jerked his head down to look at her. "Are we gonna die too?" He blinked at her and her brothers, and his heart cracked a little more.
"Oh, no, darling," he whispered back, curling around his kits. "No. Applekit was... he got sick. Very sick. Mintswirl did their best, but sometimes... sometimes StarClan's calling is too strong. But you three are alright. I'll make sure that you are. I promise."

"Hello," a voice said. Skyrumble whirled around, fur puffing out, and stared at a tabby she-cat. She blinked at him, amusement in her eyes. "Are you one of the Clan cats I've been hearing about?"
"Ah- yes!" He stumbled over his words, eyes wide. "I'm Skyrumble. How... how can I help you, miss?" The she-cat seemed even more amused, and Skyrumble felt his fur grow hot.
"My name's Tumble. I'd like to join your Clan if I could."
"Well, Parsleystar would have to decide about that, but... well, I'm sure we could find a spot for you. I mean, you look very... Muscular. Um. Strong! You look strong." Tumble laughed out loud, and Skyrumble just about swooned.
"I'm a bit too old for you I think, but thank you."
"Mmmm..." He would like to keel over now, thanks.

Early Summer
"From this day forth you shall be called Skyrumble. We honor your drive and your passion, and welcome you as a full warrior of ButterflyClan."
Skyrumble felt a purr rumbling in his throat, but the cheering was so loud he couldn't hear it. He met his mother's eyes over the crowd, and felt his heart swell at the pride in them. I've done it, he thought. Cloud, I've done it. I hope you have your own warrior ceremony, wherever you are.

"What happened?" Mintswirl gasped, hurrying over to Algaesky's side.
"A fox happened," Lynxfur grunted. "It surprised us both, but it got Algaesky bad."
"Not bad," Algaesky correct, grunting. "I'll be fine." Mintswirl made a sound low in the back of his throat.
"It's way too early to say that for certain," he frowned at her. "You've only just gotten injured. You'll have to be off your leg for a while." Algaesky nodded, accepting this quietly.
"You're lucky," Mintswirl told her. "It could have gone very, very badly, just the two of you against a fox."

"Ah, Burdockheart?" Burdockheart looked up at Beamsnow, who stood before her with a nervous expression on his face. "I... need you to do something with me. Please."
"Of course," she said, and gulped down the last of her mouse. "What is it?"
"I... can't tell you. Please, just come with me."
Burdockheart frowned at him, but stood anyways. She followed Beamsnow out of camp and they walked for a while. It's only when the DogwoodClan border is in sight that Burdockheart's apprehension grows so strong that she halts.
"Beamsnow, what are you doing? Why are we here?"
Beamsnow didn't answer, instead slipping over the border. Burdockheart's ears flattened, betrayal striking through her heart like lightning. She watched her former apprentice slink into a bush and listened to a whispered conversation, the words too quiet to hear. When Beamsnow emerged, her heart lurched. A pair of tiny white scraps hung from his mouth. Newborn kittens, mewling pathetically for their dam. He set them down in front of Burdockheart and gave her an apologetic look, then slunk back into the bushes and emerged with two more.
"Their mother can't care for them," he told Burdockheart quietly. "We... I never intended for this, but... they're mine, Burdockheart. I can't just leave my kits."
"Oh, Beamsnow," Burdockheart breathed. She wanted to say more, to ask who their mother was beyond just a DogwoodClan she-cat, but Beamsnow looked so distraught... "I won't say a word to anyone," she swore instead. She bent down to lick the tiny kittens he'd placed at her paws. "What are their names?"
Beamsnow sagged, a sigh of relief escaping him. "Applekit, Aspenkit, Acornkit, and the little she-kit is Asphodelkit." He nodded towards each kitten in turn.
"They're beautiful."

"I think I'm like you," Shadowbloom announced into the empty air. Mintswirl paused in their sorting and squinted at her.
"How so?"
"You know, not a tom, not a she-cat, something... else," she finished, gesturing lamely.
"Oh. Well, do you like being called they? Like... I met Shadowbloom, they're really cool."
"Yeah. But I also like she sometimes."
"Hm. Maybe you're both a she-cat and not at the same time."
Shadowbloom paused. "....Can I do that?"
Mintswirl shrugged. "I don't see why not."
Shadowbloom mulled this over, turning the thought in their mind. "Yes," they decided, nodding with a finality. "That's me. Sometimes a she-cat, but mostly not."

"I think I want to retire," Sakari told Parsleystar. The leader stopped and looked up at her, her brow creasing.
"Oh. I can hold a ceremony-"
"No, I don't want one," Sakari inturupted. "I just want to retire. I don't need the Clan to fawn over me."
"It's not fawning. It's thanking you for your service, for your contribution to our community."
"What have I done that needs thanking?" Sakari scoffed. "My son, Cloud, died. I couldn't save Aspenpaw. I have done nothing to contribute."
"You've raised Skyrumble to be a strong warrior," Parsleystar pointed out. "You've hunted and fought for us. What happened with Cloud and Aspenpaw wasn't your fault. It was horrible and tragic, but it wasn't because of you. ButterflyClan will want to thank you, Sakari. I want to thank you."

"Hey!" A voice called. A dark brown tabby sat just over the border, their tail curled around a pair of she-kits. Skyrumble padded closer, Gingerpaw at his tail. "You lot are Clan cats, right? You give shelter to cats who need it?"
"Sometimes. Are you in need of any?"
"Housefolk are cruel sometimes," the tabby said in lieu of an answer. "They'll take my daughters as soon as they're able and send them away. I'd never see them again."
Skyrumble bit back a shocked hiss. "We'll bring you all to camp," he told them. "We'll see what our leader has to say, but I think she'd agree to let you stay for a while at least. She's not one to let kits be seperated from their parents."
"I'm Gingerpaw," the apprentice greeted, crouching in front of the kits. "What's your names?"
"I'm Seed, and this is Pod," the darker of the two kits introduced. "And that's our parent, Honeydew."
"Those are wonderful names!" Gingerpaw purred. Honeydew seemed amused by his antics, and swept their daughters along.

"Stop!" Mintswirl hissed, their fur spiking. Tumblefern froze in her spot, turning towards Mintswirl with her eyes wide. "She has redcough," Mintswirl explained. "It's very contagious, and very deadly." The she-cat let out a pitiful mewl, followed by a coughing fit that shook her whole body. Mintswirl winced.
"We can't get close. If an outbreak starts in camp, there will be no stopping it. With all the kits... we can't risk it." Tumblefern cast a mournful look at the sick she-cat before nodding. The two Clan cats continued on their trek, hearts heavy.
