Camera Lens Evolution
The camera lens has been an integral part of photography since its inception, and its evolution has been marked by numerous technological advancements. In this article, we will explore the major milestones in the evolution of camera lenses, from the earliest experiments to the advanced features of modern lenses.
Early Experiments
The earliest experiments with lenses date back to the ancient Greeks, who used glass spheres to magnify images. The camera obscura, a device that used a pinhole to project an image onto a surface, was also an early precursor to the modern camera lens. In the 17th century, scientists began experimenting with lenses made of polished glass to improve the quality of the projected image.
The Achromatic Lens
In 1757, English optician John Dollond invented the achromatic lens, a lens made of two different types of glass that reduced the problem of chromatic aberration. This innovation improved the quality of the projected image and paved the way for the development of modern camera lenses.
The Anastigmat Lens
In 1887, German optician Paul Rudolph invented the anastigmat lens, a lens that corrected for distortion and other optical aberrations. This innovation allowed photographers to capture sharp, clear images with greater accuracy and fidelity.
The Zoom Lens
In 1959, the first zoom lens was introduced by the Japanese company Bell & Howell. The zoom lens allowed photographers to adjust the focal length of the lens, which made it possible to capture images at different magnifications without changing lenses. The zoom lens was a major breakthrough in photography, allowing photographers to capture a wider range of images with a single lens.
Aspherical Lenses
In the 1980s, camera manufacturers began to experiment with aspherical lenses, which used non-spherical surfaces to correct for optical aberrations. Aspherical lenses were more complex and expensive to produce than traditional spherical lenses, but they offered improved image quality and reduced distortion.
Autofocus Lenses
In the 1980s and 1990s, camera manufacturers began to introduce autofocus lenses, which used motors and sensors to automatically adjust the focus of the lens. This feature made photography more accessible to casual users and helped to popularize photography as a hobby.
Image Stabilization
In the 1990s and 2000s, camera manufacturers introduced image stabilization technology, which used gyroscopic sensors to reduce camera shake and improve image quality. Image stabilization technology has become a standard feature in many modern camera lenses, and it has allowed photographers to capture sharper images in a wider range of conditions.
Conclusion
The evolution of camera lenses has been marked by numerous technological advancements that have revolutionized the field of photography. Each new development has expanded the possibilities of what is possible with photography, and has made it easier for photographers to capture sharp, clear, and accurate images. While the history of camera lenses is still being written, the legacy of these early optical pioneers lives on, inspiring and informing the work of photographers around the world.

Edmund Scientific was a company that got its start in the 1940s selling surplus optics — lenses, and then microscopes and telescopes — and expanded into a big mail-order catalog that sold science educational stuff to the public. It also branched out into selling top-shelf scientific lens, camera, and laser systems to industry and research labs. Early in the 2000s, they decided they were just going to focus on the latter and flogged off the consumer end of the business.
But somehow I stayed on their mailing list, which is why I've gotten a glossy catalog full of aspherical lenses, optical stages, beamsplitters, neutral density filters, and helium-neon lasers delivered to me every couple of months for the past two decades.

☀️ DSLR spotlight: Panasonic Lumix DMC-L10 🌕
In 2007, Panasonic released their second DSLR, the Lumix DMC-L10. This is about as close as I am at this point to Leica hardware, as this camera comes with an optically stabilized 14-50mm Leica 'D Vario-Elmar' aspherical telephoto lens.
Capturing up to 10.1 megapixels, the Leica glass takes crisp and vibrant photographs, especially when ample light is present, as the highest aperture is only F3.8 when set to the minimum 14mm focal length.
Overall, I find it an enjoyable shooting experience, but without an extensive selection of Four Thirds mount lenses in my collection it doesn't get an extreme amount of use from me. It's the first DSLR released with a fully articulating LCD screen on the rear of the camera, so I'm sure that was a huge part of the cool factor back in 2007.

As a photographer who has worked with both modern and vintage glass in antique lenses, I can easily distinguish lens artifacts. I wish a lot of you weren't so gullible who think lens flare, bokeh, aspherical artifacts were supernatural orbs!? I have to debunk and point this out on the daily when people post so many different "orb" photos! It makes me lose hope in Humanity and think we are on a downward slope to a pure idiocracy! You have to be smarter than this, especially the UFO Enthusaists, etc. https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn7fMx2vXXu/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Cataract surgery in Pitampura
Cataract Surgery In Pitampura, Delhi
Micro Phaco with Micro Incision Foldable Lens (MICS)
Tumblr media
Cataract is the clouding of the lens of your eye that impairs vision. Cataract is responsible for more than half of blindness in the world, which is a grim fact because it is a treatable condition. In cataract there is a buildup of protein in the lens that makes it cloudy. This prevents light from passing clearly through the lens, thereby causing loss of vision.
Advancing age is a primary reason for cataract. With age, protein of the lens turns opaque. Other causes of cataract are metabolic disorders such as diabetes, excessive exposure to sunlight, lifestyle disorders like heavy alcohol consumption and smoking. Injury to the eye can also lead to clouding of the lens of the eye.
Treatment of Cataract When cataract forms, surgery is the only way to treat it. In cataract surgery, the surgeon removes the clouded lens and puts an Intra Ocular Lens (IOL) in your eye. Your vision will be as good as pre-cataract days, though you may need to wear glasses. Over the years, cataract surgery has moved from vision restorative to refractive surgery, so that you have reduced need of glasses.

Testing out the Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f/1.2 Aspherical III VM lens. I now own the 3 Nokton f/1.2 lenses I wanted to get: the 35mm, 40mm, and 50mm. The 35mm is as sharp as the 50mm, with haze-like qualities as the 40mm, wide open.
I love these lenses. The Nokton f/1.2 VM lenses are probably my favorite set of lenses. But to be honest, they’re a bit of a pain in the ass to use on a mirrorless camera. Which is why I’m saving up for a Leica now.
