aspen has been in love with her best friend, hydrus, for a long time. he confessed to her in their teen years, but she didn't feel the same. things changed, and due to her plant based powers, she aquires hanahaki.

Ordinarily, the grassy field was a place for Aspen to go to wind down. She usually went upon the small hill with the large cherry blossom tree, lounging underneath it to nap, read a good book, or just think. Bathe under the warmth of the sun. She sometimes felt as if the area was made for her. It was incredibly peaceful, and she often found herself surrounded by random little creatures, such as birds, snakes, and even once, a fawn who had strayed away from its mother, and required Aspen’s help to get back to her.

However today, this space did not feel peacefully like hers in the way that it typically did. Not because of the space itself, but because of the way she had been feeling as of lately. The way her heart soared for another being that she dared not to burden her thoughts with the delusion that she could have him. He was beyond it, he had to be.

Hydrus had confessed to her once when they were in their teens. It was a little amusing, now that she looked back on it. He had quite literally asked her, “Asp? How would you ask someone out?”
