ASMRCast turned off likes/dislikes on the most recent Yogslive video, they're also deleting any criticism in the comments. Thoughts?

Hilarious… YouTube says there’s been 65 comments and only about 10 are visible right now.

It’s not like anyone was watching the videos on purpose so the only people reading the critical comments were the Yogscast themselves (and you and I, I guess.) So this is kind of… it’s like publicly receiving a letter, reading it, and then burning it and saying, “what letter?”

Their choice to pretend the videos aren’t total bombs, but if making bombs is what they want to do, whatever.

Do you like video games? Do you like ASMR? Do you know what ASMR is? ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response which as an extremely calming sense that occurs when exposed to different stimuli (e.g. whispering, rain sounds, ambient noise and even visual stimulation). Videos are created in order to relax people and make help them sleep. If you like video games and want to be in a relaxed mood you should follow this great ASMRtist the ASMRCast who has great videos and uploads very often.

"Caff’s creepy ASMRcast thing" after you've spoken about branching out into different things than normal, it's pretty hypocritical to dismiss this as "creepy". I don't know if you've ever listened to asmr, but it's a great tool for some people with anxiety, insomnia etc, and it's really disheartening to see it constantly dismissed as creepy by people who don't understand. Caff started it with zero cross promotion from his main channel and is one of the most respected UK asmrtists now.

Is that like being the most respected sand salesman in the Sahara?

I’ll push for trying new things… if they’re not a waste of time. Whispering into a microphone for less than $5 a video is a waste of time. It’s nice he thinks he’s found something he’s good at, but most of the “top” “ASMRtists” are hot women for a reason. And ASMR is really not so niche that this kind of viewership can be considered successful.

In theory, the most helpful thing that these non-gaming members can get from the Yogscast is cross-promotion. Not every Yogscast fan is into cars, or ASMR, but in theory, some are.

But in reality, however, we know that the Yogscast offers essentially nothing in terms of tailcoat advertising. Nysira, Caff, and the others may get some Yogscast fans, but it’s only going to be some small fraction of the Yogscast’s usual 100k average viewership, and it’s only going to be the fraction that is actually given any notice that these channels exist at all.

End result: tiny pointless hobby channels.

So, why stay? Membership with the Yogscast is said to include assistance in a few areas - salaried artists, a network for reaching sponsors (a la Fifth Floor), assistance with getting equipment and support with YouTube.

Which are all a bunch of really shiny bangles that don’t do anything if you’re making $2 per video. So really getting into the Yogscast is mostly an unwarranted solidarity move. You get Nina-Serena (or a spot in line for her); you get to yell at your dad or spouse that no, you’re not a NEET, you have a real job, the Yogscast said so; and you can call the office and they’ll tell you yes, YouTube has the power to pull ad revenue from your video and no, the Yogscast can’t do anything about it, and the time it took to make this call was worth more than your video was in the first place so, you know, get fucking on.

ASMRCast uploaded to Yogslive and it already has nearly twice as many dislikes to likes. Why is this on Yogslive anyways? I'm not even against ASMR, I actually enjoy it, but I still find his to be a bit off putting

ASMRCast is off to a rollicking start.

I don’t mind that they’re trying new things. People should try new things.But YogsLive is where new things go to die.

If there’s a streamer who’s an immediate hit? Funny? Talented? And most importantly: not too different from the usual crew? Then they can make it out. 

But anything that’s too niche will be met with aggression.

Another ASMR stream. Another boatload of dislikes. This time the woman is wearing fake elf ears, to...ostracise themselves more I suppose. How is this not discontinued yet. Do the Yogs just think they've annoyed Caff too much in the past, so they're giving him this one.

That last comment… I have no wordsHow was it that 21 people decided the best way to phrase “leave Caff alone” is to ask, “why are you treating ASMRcast like the human chattel enslavement of African-Americans.”

I don’t know how you figure the ASMRcast is some kind of apology to Caff, it’s more like, they’ve never felt the need to enforce “quality control” over Yogslive, and ASMRcast will just live as long as Caff has the patience to run it.
