AUTOPSY REPORT

The discovered victim is Lavinia Gladwyn. She was found in the Doll Room, with her cause of death being Smoke Inhalation. The estimated time of death was 1:19 PM.

MOTIVE

The motive was a recorded message from the pawn’s loved ones at home.

CHAPTER 4 BODY DISCOVERY

It's a... surprisingly okay day.

Not even the brightness of it being the middle of the day can quite chase away the ever present gloom that envelops the castle, but other than that, things are peaceful. Well, relatively so.

You should have known better. Peace is just the baited breath before it all goes to hell.

Wherever you are, whatever you're doing is interrupted by a loud, jarring sound that quite literally shakes the building around you. It takes you a few moments to place the sound; an explosion, it has to be, but where does anyone see explosions outside of movies?

If you are on or near the first floor, you heard and felt the explosion in your very bones, distinctly coming from the Doll Room. Even if you are farther away, you can still tell the general area the sound came from.

What the fuck is going on?

The room is a wreckage. Half of it is very nearly charred to ashes, the other half scorched and still smelling faintly of smoke. All of the dolls have fallen off their perches, and there is broken glass and china on the floor. Be careful where you step.

There doesn't seem to be anyone in the room, thankfully.

But...there is something strange. Back by the flame-licked but otherwise undamaged cabinet, there are various sewing supplies scattered about, including a couple wooden shelves that are haphazardly strewn across the floor.

The wooden handle is still hot to the touch as you pull open the cabinet's doors. What you find inside, though, freezes you ice cold…

CHAPTER 4 MOTIVE

There's the familiar ringing and clicking of the intercom as it comes to life throughout the castle, booming Dominique's rather angry sounding voice everywhere.

"NO MORE PATHETIC DISTRACTIONS, PAWNS! We've got a special message ready for each of you, didn't you know? After all, in the last motive, our cameramen had managed to score a message from one of your loved ones!"

The suspense rolls in as the silence drags out.

...

"Oh, but no need to worry. They are not harmed, in fact, they've been left quite well alone once the message was gathered. After all, we are smarter than to simply kidnap or kill dozens of people all at once, you know?"

"Just a simple message, left by somebody who misses you. You'll find a recording machine in your bedroom with the message inside."

"Give it a listen, wont you? You miss their voice. It may even make you feel better! Ho ho ho!"

All pawns have been given a recorded message from their loved ones at home.

CHAPTER 4 EVENT

At the crack of dawn, a note is slipped under your door, whether you're awake to notice this or not. It's handwritten, and a touch too messy to belong to whoever is keeping you captive here. The name at the bottom right only confirms that.

heyyy so it's been a while since we all did something together, huh?? and w/ the pool in the new area, i figured it..i dunno, might be a fun place to have a lil party? :) and also maybe to sho

It looks like the next bit was scribbled out, but it continues nevertheless.

ok maybe that's smthn to explain when theres actually ppl here haha XD but yeah! i was gonna bring snacks, maybe grab a couple of the towels n cushions frm other rooms to make sitting by the poolside comfier ^__^

CHAPTER 4 - FIRST FLOOR B

Doll Room - A room dedicated to the Count’s doll collection. It’s covered in dolls. Covered. They’re laid out in rows upon rows, with a couple even in display cases. It’s more than a little unsettling, depending on your opinion of them. They are all dressed to the nines, and there isn’t a speck of dust on any of them, surprisingly. They must be very well cared for. The only part of the room that is doll-free is a small corner, where a table, chair and a cabinet sit. There’s a sewing machine on the table.

Indoor Pool -  It’s a large section of the second floor used solely for the water. The tiling is made up of blues and gold detailing, and the place has a surprisingly calming atmosphere. The ‘pool’ varies in depth depending on the area, and there are numerous openings on walls  that branch off into halls, which then lead up onto balconies. Small line bridges are also scattered around the area for easier access, since a majority of the floor space is a massive pool.

Cloakroom - It seems to double as a walk-in closet as well, if the numerous old, dusty coats that make your nose itch are anything to go by. As is typical of a cloakroom, there are also many lockers lined up against the wall.

Some of the lockers are predictable locked, whilst others swing wide open. Looks like you’re going to have to search for some keys if you want to open the former…
