What did you do for your last Birthday o man my 18th was actually the first really fun birthday i've had in years!! it was a whole weekend of hanging out tbh; i went to karaoke with The Pals, went down to hang out with hailey and chloe (their roomie at the time made me dinner and it was really good!!), and went to red robin for dinner with my family the next day!! it was really fun omg, i had a great birthday weekend :')

Do people actually think indoor house cats who have been eating exclusively processed food will immediately hunt birds and small mammals on a walk instead of becoming scavengers or look for food around human. Cats definitely should not roam but I feel crazy from reading that claim thrown all the time

Hunting is instinctive, and cats (and dogs for that matter) don't kill when they're hungry. They hunt and kill because it's fun and they're fulfilling a natural behavior. Obviously, we can't blame them for this, but we do need to take this into account when we humans bring our foreign invasive species into places cats have never been. They're very good at killing all kinds of small things, there's a lot of cats, and small things are the foundation of an ecosystem— sometimes the only semblance of an ecosystem left in an area humans have been altering.

ey man, i swear i'm not hating, i just wanted to let u know the person on that post is cishet and ace, and speaking as a gay ace person, a cishet ace person hating gay people for 'being mean to aces'- as if gay people can't be aspec, for starters - is homophobic. being ace doesn't make me any less gay, so it doesn't make them any less straight. and a straight person hating "gays" is always, always homophobia. asexuality is not a shield for that.

hey, thanks for the ask.  i’m an ace girl and i dated a girl this past year in my first and only relationship ever, and even though all of what I *think* were crushes i’ve had in my life have been on girls, i’m not comfortable calling myself a lesbian because not only do i feel like i haven’t lived the lesbian experience, but I haven’t really been able to sort out what my feelings are, or what they should be called. for the record, I’m 28, so I’ve had awhile to think about this.

i would like to clarify that my issue with that post you probably found me from is not that I want to defend aces at all cost. i agree it isn’t a shield, and i’m familiar with the fact that you can be gay and ace. That poster is very clearly and undeniably being homophobic and I DO have an issue with that. I’m not defending that person’s freedom to be an asshole. they are an asshole. they are homophobic. and that wasn’t the point of my comment on it. I can see how the meaning of my comment was unclear. 

my problem with the post is that it highlights the asexuality in correlation to the homophobia. The screenshot is cropped to clearly convey that. It isn’t the only screenshot like that on my dashboard this very day, and I feel like the person who posted that screenshot has posted other screenshots like that before. So I feel like they have an agenda, and the person (now unfollowed) who reblogged it on my dashboard clearly does, too.

It’s always some shitty person on some kind of shitty rant, with a side note of ace thrown in. It’s really saddeningly common for me to see posts conflating asexuality with homophobia, and that’s why I comment on those posts. It makes me feel like my friends think I’m against them, or harboring some kind of secret resentment for their own sexuality, when I feel like I haven’t done anything wrong, and that it’s impossible for me to defend myself against criticism as an asexual without being 100% positive I can also call myself gay. 

Maybe you saw a big, long post defending ‘being acephobic’ and tying it in to the AIDS crisis somehow a few months ago? maybe a year? It was all over my dashboard. It really blindsided me to see people I considered friends reblogging that uncritically and then start to call themselves acephobic too because of it. It still hurts tbh, especially because the logic of it was so tangled and convoluted that it could only have made sense to someone who was already predisposed toward thinking asexuality was fake or harmful.

uh, so yeah. tl;dr-- I wasn’t defending the homophobia, didn’t realize it looked like I was, and I don’t condone shitty behavior or opinions just because someone’s asexual; separating someone’s harmful opinions from their sexual identity is what I want people to start doing.
