Father…? I-I was wondering…could we get a puppy? The small boy looked longingly at his old man, using his own puppy dog eyes to try and sway him into making a decision.
“You can have this puppy. It doesn’t bite, and it even comes with a leash so you can take it for walks.”

Hi Peach!
the latest episode of KNY and your recent posts have just made me go and reread TGW - don’t ask me how many times I’ve read it now cause I lost count 🤷🏼‍♀️
I love your take on my emo King so much. Giyuu is quite a deadpan character but you are able to write him having silly/funny moments so well. They don’t feel forced at all. Adding comedy to the endless of list of your amazing writing skills 🩵
And I’m so looking forward to the part II Tanjiro visit scene (poor poor boy) and the Miko chastising Giyuu for having an empty house (she will be chewing him out I can’t wait)
I went back and reread the first TGW teaser you ever posted and I hope you don’t mind me asking but was reader always going to be a Shrine Maiden or did that idea come later as the fic came together?
Now I need to be so honest with you - Peach ‘IT TAKES TWO’ killed me in the best horny way possible, I am quite partial to a wee bit of SaneGiyu so seeing them in a threesome fic the scream I scrumpt 😭 mean corruption kink Giyuu forever
I hope you’re getting lots of smooches and fresh air
much love
-🫧🫧
(PS no stop no don't write for Shinjiro, he’s totally not everyone’s anime dad crush at all 😉😚)
BESTIE BUBBLEEEEEEEEEE!!
So tickled that you reread TGW again. Honestly, I’ve fallen right back into the brain rot it, and spent a good portion of today writing for it 😭 seeing Giyuu smile in last night’s episode made me MELT.
and ALSMSKAKOAKS as always your compliments reduce me to an absolute puddle and I will never be solid again.
I’ll answer your asks about TGW below!
I won’t give away Reader’s backstory quite yet (that comes in Part 3!) but I will say — she was raised in a shrine and doesn’t have a lot of personal items either. She’s actually so overwhelmed by the fact she finally has a home — something that she can call hers, that she almost cries 😭 but you’ll see Giyuu feel sort of insecure about it for the first time (he just wants to impress his girl lmao).
As for your question about when I decided to make Reader a shrine maiden in TGW..
TGW came about because of the “I’m not your enemy” scene that was teased in the OG teaser — hence, why it was the first look. The entirety of TGW bloomed around this one mental image I had of Giyuu strangling his lover. I decided pretty quickly it would be his BOJ.
I knew she was going to be a civilian when I published the OG teaser, but I hadn’t settled on anything more concrete than that. HOWEVER, the second scene I wrote was the first time scene that ends Part I — I wrote that entire thing in like an hour while procrastinating. I first teased the virginity loss scene like, maybe two days after the OG teaser? So in the span of those two days I decided she would be a Shrine Maiden. It was a pretty easy decision — I needed her to have some flexibility RE her background but also give her a stable place Giyuu could come back to and see her. So that’s how I decided! But to answer your question, she was pretty much a Miko from the start, minus like two days lmao.
As for the Tanjiro scene — honestly, I’m enjoying the thought of it sm. Especially because he, like everyone else left alive after Muzan, had NO IDEA Reader even existed.
Giyuu actually takes off from the Butterfly Mansion to get her as soon as he regains consciousness and doesn’t tell anyone where he’s going — so when they show up concerned to his estate, you can imagine how SHOOK they are to se that not only is there a woman there (the implication of what they did the previous night being very clear lmao), but also that she’s introduced as his fiance. Like, “here she is, this is mine. I love her.”
I’m so glad you loved It Takes Two 🫡🫡 I am happy to provide spit roasting always!!
Sending you much love!! Please stop encouraging me to write Shinjuro I have too much to do!! I’ve already started HELP

you reposted the chapter of the kimetsu gakuen "breath of flame" and made a comment that Kyojuro is depicted canonically correctly here. what do you think about his characterization in all the other chapters of the school au? does his image exactly correspond to the canon? I'm really interested in your opinion, because you understand Kyojuro better than anyone else and are a real expert in interpreting this character. ;^;
Thank you that's really sweet! I'm flattered that you are wanting my opinion and thank you for calling me an expert thats such high praise!
I haven't read all of the chapters, (only Vol.1 and Vol. 2 are currently available on kindle where I am) so this may have something to do with it---but up until this point all the other chapters I've seen floating around Tumblr I feel are canonically inaccurate. It doesn't exactly correspond, it felt like they picked a couple of his traits and then just went nuts.
Which I mean it is an AU and its for humor so I usually don't critique too harshly because its for fun etc etc. But they did Kyojuro so dirty and it makes me not want to read the school au chapters honestly. Everyone else is still relatively canon accurate but him they just...I dunno but I hate it.
Every chapter with Kyojuro involves him getting food, making food or trying to eat something that is for sure bad for him and the other Hashira-Teachers chiding him for it. It feels like the people working on these chapters saw the Mugen Train anime-only episode and the first like 15 minutes of the movie and decided they knew Kyojuro's personality based just on those. And didn't watch or read anything else with him in it. I mean my hell we got the shortest amount of time with this character and they decide to give him a food gag almost every time? Like really? Ya'll being lazy and they clearly did not understand why we all love Kyojuro so much.
In Mugen Train after Tanjiro sees Kyojuro eating does Kyojuro talk or bring up food with Tanjiro during any of that first conversation before they fall asleep? NOPE. During the entire movie there is not a single time-- even when he's eating the bento--that he says or does anything to indicate he is food obsessed. Conversation in his dreams? NOPE. Waking up and finding the boys and giving orders? NOPE. Throughout the whole movie, nothing. It's almost like gasp Kyojuro having a big appetite is just a tiny miscellaneous detail!
His Gaiden right when he gets introduced Senjuro says "I made you some sweets how about a rest?" You know who rushes to him and the food? MITSURI. And behind her Kyojuro is going "Hey! We aren't done yet!" And absolutely no hate to Mitsuri because I adore her and I love her big appetite and her obsession with food but she is the one obsessed with food, in canon she is the one who often talks about it, not Kyojuro. But we don't see it at all in the high school AU.
There are moments in Gaiden, Mugen Train Drama CD etc where Kyojuro is shown mostly being around people when eating but he's clearly enjoying their company and being with them, not focused on the food. Even in the anime only episode which is food heavy, he uses it to navigate around the people he has to interact with--and my only complaint really is him being upset about Slasher stepping on the bento box while he's got his claws in a guy's shoulder. Because Kyojuro cares about people and their safety most and that victim would have been his only concern not the bento.
The very first time Kyojuro is in the High School AU he orders pizza and has it delivered to the school because he was craving it--even though he knows there's rules against deliveries for safety reasons. "I never do anything for myself and always put everyone else, especially their safety first" Kyojuro Rengoku would never do this. Shinobu tells the boys the reason for the rule is to keep dangerous people from trying to sneak into the school and there is no way Kyojuro would risk that, like none. And then Sanemi tells him to "control his urges".
...Ya'll joking right?
Not only is that a horrible way to phrase that especially towards this cinnamon roll man (urges to purchase food you're craving is not that bad anyway if at all...) but Kyojuro is always in control and has never once given into urges or even his emotions other than happy?? Even with Akaza pissing him off he didn't lose control of himself and Upper Moon 3 was attacking his core beliefs. But even then like, I didn't find this particular part of the conversation to be funny although that's the intention but that could just be me.
He wouldn't sneak into the home ec room to make food either, although its unclear if its actually sneaking or if its just "sneaking" to Haganezuka. Either way if he's getting chased for something he supposedly did wrong he's not going to run he's going to confront it and try to resolve it.
There are things that I feel are accurate, at least a little bit. When Kyojuro isn't being food obsessed but is focused on helping his students I feel like we're closer to canon. He does always try to help students who come to him with a problem and he commits to helping them just as he does in canon with his job.
He helps the butterfly sisters try to figure out a solution to creating medicines for their club (but his solution is food when he could have given them historical references/places to look to get ideas from and help them brainstorm from there).
He recognizes how badly the boys wanted pizza and so found a way to get them pizza and made it for them.
I haven't read the full comic but I've seen a little section of Kyojuro helping Sanemi and Obanai get in the way of a pot of spilled Tonjiro so it didn't get on a student. But beyond that to me it just doesn't feel like Kyojuro. The marshmallow one does because he gives real advice and insight about a topic when he talks about it with Senjuro, he teaches the boys about the sun and fire (this hints to me that he should have been able to help the Butterfly girls on a level beyond let's make foods that we know are healthy), when Senjuro realizes that the food in his drawing is more like a marshmallow than sweet potato Kyojuro chimes in with insight "Good idea, come to think about it I also like roasting sweet potato with marshmallow too!"---giving Senjuro additional reassurance that hey the way he colored it does actually fit something Kyojuro would do. The boys get hungry so okay let's feed you lads.
When the lightning starts a fire he immediately goes for the fire extinguisher and then jumps outside and puts it out and all his dialogue here is spot on although I'm not sure I believe Kyojuro would miss a part of the fire. If anything he'd probably offer to just make them a fire after putting one out but maybe that's just me.

Hiya V! How’re you? Hope you’re well! 💛
Out of curiosity, who are your top ten favorite ‘Demon Slayer’ characters and why? I’m really curious!
Thanks! Xxx
Hi Anon! I'm doing well, thank you!
This is a really good question! I've never really thought about my top ten KnY characters before because I love all of them, but if I absolutely have to single out ten of them, with a few underrated ones:
Kokushibo: Need I say more? Or rather, in the immortal words of Jane Austen, if I loved him less, I might be able to talk about him more. His unearthly beauty, his appreciation for talent and skill no matter who he fought, his envy for Yoriichi's gifts, his fear of his legacy being forgotten — all at odds with what is ultimately his all-too human desire to be seen and appreciated for his own skills. Kokushibo has done many unforgivable things in his long, long life — things which not even I can excuse nor downplay — but he is also an immensely complex and compelling individual fraught with at once the ugliest and most beautiful parts of humanity.
Muzan: I have read many manga series over the years, but seldom have I seen an antagonist as single-minded as Kibutsuji Muzan. Certainly, there are better written villains out there, with greater depth and harsher backstories, but the simplicity of Muzan's aims — to conquer the sun and become a perfect being — stands out in a sea of moustache-twiddling foes with schemes to take over the world. That he was born to comfort at a time of Japan's culture epoch, who saw nothing wrong with dirtying his aristocratic hands to kill a lowly doctor; that he did not mind subsisting on humans, but could not tolerate the idea of sitting in the shade whilst other languished in the sun; that he created demons as a tool for his objectives but ultimately saw them more as a hindrance — he is truly a man for himself. As he said in the final battle, was it not enough for the rest of you lot to still be alive? He is not trying to rule over the world, mind you — and even if one were to be so unlucky as to cross paths with him, it was, well, because they were down on their luck. He does not wish to play God, for he does not even care about these lowly mortals; this is truly his world, and we are all just living in it.
Douma: Douma IS brat, y'all. I have always loved unsympathetic villains as much as sympathetic ones, and the second Upper Moon is no exception. Make no mistake, there is nothing redeemable about Douma — he is a cult leader who takes pride in objectifying women as nothing but sustenance. I adore the moment when the light in his dazzling eyes shut off after Kanao calls him out his act. Yet, unlike other delightful sociopathic villains (Tsukiyama Shū from Tokyo Ghoul comes to mind), Douma never fully crosses the line into camp, as in the case of Gyokko; in his mind, he is as sincere as he can be, and he comes across as someone who truly enjoys being a demon and the benefits that come with it. In that sense, he is delightful to watch and even more delightful to hate, and I wished we saw him riling up the other Upper Moons more.
Nakime: In a different world, Nakime would be the perfect protagonist of a psychological thriller/slasher film a la Black Swan. Killing her husband was one thing, but finding the trembling of her fingers post-murder so musically inspiring that she did it again and again — this was a level of artistry that not even Gyokko could fathom in his wildest imaginations.
Rengoku Shinjurō: Reader, I can fix him — was the first thing I thought of when we saw Shinjurō properly for the first time. He is an interesting comparison against Uzui — both of them are retired Hashira, yet the former did not so much as leave a trailing blaze as he fell from grace. How useless must he have felt by the time of Rengoku Gaiden — losing his wife, disgracing his family's name? Likewise, he was no doubt feeling like a mutton dressed as a lamb when Uzui and Himejima joined the ranks of the Hashira. Though his abusive treatment of his children are reprehensible, they also stem from a deeply seated place of mid-life crisis, insecurity, and self-hatred.
Urokodaki Sakonji: There is a wonderful art from Chapter 90 which depicts Urokodaki carving two wooden dolls of Tanjiro and Nesuko — it moves me in a strange way that I cannot put properly into words, only that it encapsulates Urokodaki's compassion, empathy, and kindness in a manner that sets him apart from the typical elder mentor that we see in other shōnen works.
Kanroji Mitsuri: If we are talking about relatable characters, then there is no one I see myself in more than Mitsuri. Though I may not have her generous heart and endless capacity for kindness and love, I understand her struggle of not feeling like a good enough young lady of marriageable age. Her dyeing her hair, eating less and suppressing her naturally bubbly self in a bid to be more likeable — haven't we all been there? Truly, if there was someone in the entirety of KnY to whom I aspire, it would be Mitsuri.
Uzui Tengen: Though he may resent the Shrek comparison (or own it; it's tough to determine Uzui's actual taste when he brushes so close to being trailer trash), Uzui has layers — his flamboyant exterior belies a true concern for his wives and young charges, and if I may repeat myself once more: it is only when he is the most quiet (sneaking up on the shop owner to demand the whereabouts of Zenitsu, feeding Hinatsuru the antidote, giving Suma and Makio head pats) that he is the most himself. His inclination for all things shiny and extravagant is not merely an expression of himself after escaping from his family, it is also a way for him to cloak his true feelings of care — just as a true shinobi would.
Ubuyashiki Amane: There is so little we know of her besides that she was a shrine maiden, but her actions speak volumes. Her arranged marriage to Ubuyashiki could have left her resentful for it was tantamount to an arranged widowhood, but she nonetheless loved and took care of her young husband, and stayed firmly by his side till the very end. The anime does a stunning depiction of this through the eyecatch of her holding his bandaged, disease hand; and that close-up of her impassive face as the explosives set off around the estate, engulfing her and her husband in flames — she has always known what she was signing up for. A lesser person might have left, or ended their life, but Amane stayed true till the very last moment.
The magistrate who sentenced Hantengu: A true underrated favourite, so hear me out on this one; I think this man is easily one of the most righteous of the entire KnY series. He reminds me so much of the real-life historical figure, Ōoka Echizen (played to perfection by Katō Gō in the 1971 series of the same name, but this is a rabbit hole I shan't force on anyone...), who not only exposed Hantengu's lies, but also saw through that pitiful blind man act and gave him a proper sentence. In a kinder world, he could have adopted Daki and Gyutaro; or delivered justice for Akaza — but that is an AU for another time.
xoxo, V ♥️

drawing my au sabitos- this ones swap au :)
I only really have 1 full scene for this au- and it started from me thinking him & Shinjuro both being depressed drinking buddies, lamenting about their deceased dark-haired beauties
When Sabito became a pillar he turned the water estate into a sort of training hub for all breath of water users, to try and help more people to mastery. He pretty regularly spars with people in his downtime, makes comments and tries coaching people from the sidelines very often
Most people are kinda weirded out by him- hes aggressive and stern, very snarky, but he never takes off the mask and it makes him look perpetually sad- sometimes he has this air of melancholy around him, listless, the mask fits in better when hes in those moods. But aside that hes usually very kind and genuinely tries to look out for the skayers under his roof, very hospitable as long as they stay out his shit.
So hes very well received, but no one has seen his face- ever. They have all kinds of rumors and theories about why he wears it, what his face looks like, what the mask is even supposed to mean. Some of the more daring(/disrespectful/immature) inahbitants try to sneak a look in the mornings before he puts it on- but he's always wide awake, sightless blue eyes of the mask staring them down from an inch away the moment they open it
Anyways, one day he's out in the yard sparring with a higher ranked slayer in front of a group doing their own training and whatnot too- theyre both intensely into it, movements hard to keep track of and training swords clashing so loud it echos in the area. The slayer accidentally aims at his mask, the mood changes with a sudden pressure in the air when Sabito deflects the swing and reaches towards them in a flash- a harsh grip in their hair and yanking them so theyre centimeters from his face
"Don't touch the fucking mask."
Everyone drops dead silent at the utter malice dripping through his tone, a moment passes as Sabito realizes what he did and lets go of their hair. He gently ruffles it and straightens his back instead of posturing over them
"I deeply apologize. ...I think i should call it a day." he says in an uncharictaristically quiet voice before putting his training sword up and going to his room
NO ONE bothers him for the rest of the day, or the day after, they give him plenty of space and try their best not to prod at him or tick him off like they usually do- the slayer who was sparring w him was scared shitless and tries their damndest to stay out of his way and not piss him off again. They've never seen him genuinely angry like that- he gets pissed off and annoyed plenty, daily even, but that sudden cold fury over the near hit of his mask was terrifying to witness.
#neros art tag#sabito#kny sabito#water pillar swap au#sabito bewoved :)#he became a pillar at the cusp of shinjuro ditching the hashira meetings altogether & was like just in time to become drinking buddies w hi#theyre quiet and dont talk abt themselves much even if they have Opinions abt eachother#shinjuro thinking hes tragic bc hes like. 17-18 drinking w an alcoholic on his days off and being as sad as he is at such a young age#meanwhile sabito thinks hes a sack of shit shirking his duties as a slayer to bringe drink & abuse his kids bc he thinks its all for nothin#They Do Not Talk About That#Kyojuro however loudly proclaims that he thinks sabito's a fucking weirdo being drinking buddies with his fucking DAD#Mitsuri just thinks its really sad and tries to cheer Sabito up whenever she sees him when hes sober & not planning to Not Be#he really appreciates it and eventually he accepts her invitations to food sometimes (w kyojuro of course)#first time they go Kyojuro gets mad @ him bc he ordered a drink for his food and he went full sass back at em#'unlike your father- i have the discipline to stop after 1 drink just to enjoy the flavor with my food.' he refrains from buying any#alcohol around them after that- which krojuro notices- and he kinda settles down abt sabito bc he also notices that he really is discipline#about everything he does- and hes actually pretty nice to chat with when hes not being sadboy silent drunk#Mitsuri develops a leeetle bit of a crush on him but kinda knows its *never* gonna be reciprocated bc of whoever#the mask and red haori originally belonged to#(also one time at brunch they ask abt his scar & the mask since he has to have it up some to eat#'its not related if thats what you're thinking- i couldnt care less about my face -but the mask is very important to me' with a little frow#he takes a bite and they politely stopped talking about the dead. Shinjuros the only one whos seen his entire face aside from Urokodaki tho#edit: fixed the hand it doesnt make me wanna cry anymore 👍

Yoriichi and Shinjuro?
do i ship our characters together?: yes | no | not yet but maybe soon
would i like to ship with you?: yes | maybe, i'm willing to try | no
type of relationship i could see: childhood or high school sweethearts | exes | engaged | married | long-term relationship | crushes | unrequited love | fling | long distance | online relationship | just dating | new relationship | toxic lovers | friends with benefits
tropes i'd enjoy writing for them: friends to lovers | enemies to lovers | exes to lovers | fake relationship / dating | forbidden love | grumpy and sunshine | star-crossed lovers | surprise pregnancy | second chance | soulmates | amnesia / mistaken identity | forced proximity | secret relationship | slow burn relationship
would i rather plot first or jump right in and see where it goes?: develop their relationship first | jump right in | something in between ( what specifically? ) for you bestie, whatever you’re up for!
what now?: let's plot something | send me shippy memes | i'll send you shippy memes | write me a random starter | i'll write you a random starter
anything else i want you to know about me / my character / my shipping habits: This man is so hesitant in the beginning, he's a little scared. Also, it's nice to have someone that understands the kind of loss he has experienced. There is so much I can say 😩 He likes the Rengoku family, he would adore Senjuro too. -adopts children-
Plus we’ve already talked to much about our characters it makes shipping easier for me.

@fallesto -- Senjuro (?) -- Kyojuro
Tumblr media
It's evening by the time Kyojuro finds himself traversing the dirt road that led to his family's estate. One hand rested on the pommel of his Nichirin blade while the other held a carefully bundled stack of boxes. A slightly colored cloth was wrapped around them to keep them from falling out and they hung by his side discreetly though he made no attempt to hide them.
Tumblr media
Eventually he reaches the entrance to his estate, eyes darting around until he locates Senjuro.
" I have returned!" He announces proudly, hoisting up the bundle he held as though it were a trophy of sorts.

For Miguel and Shinjuro: 🪦🦇🌕
@askthelovenest
selfship ask game!
Tumblr media
🪦 : do you have pet names for your f/o ?
yes !! i call miguel my miguelito and mi querido, but sometimes i call him silly goofy stuff like my meow meow or my pookie 🥺 for shinjuro, i don’t think it’s necessarily a petname but i call him shinjuro-san bc he’s so much older than me ! ^__^
🦇 : when did you start shipping with your f/o ?
miguel and i’s anniversary is 6/10/23, because that was the first time i saw spiderverse in theatres ! ive been selfshipping with shinjuro for at least a year now, the furthest back i can find is a silly tiktok i made for him on 3/24/22, so i’ll just say that’s my anniversary with him ^__^;;
🌕 : general vibe of your f/o ?
i think both miguel and shinjuro are the kinds of people who are closed off to almost everyone but their s/o (me <3) i think miguel would be a lot more possessive and wouldn’t like sharing me with people <3 while shinjuro is intimidating on the outside but he’s rlly respectable when you get to know him !! they’ve both just experienced a lot of trauma :( but i still love them both a lot regardless !! ^__^

Shinjuro Apology Update: Part 3
Part one here: https://www.tumblr.com/teamfreewill56-blog/682190057281617920/if-you-dont-accept-requests-then-feel-free-to
Shinjuro tried to wrap his head around what had just happened. Succession-wise Senjuro was supposed to be Kyojuro’s tsuguko, but based on what he had just heard, Kyojuro and Senjuro were in agreement that Senjuro was not to be the successor. He remembered telling Kyojuro that the line would end with himself on Kyojuro’s first mission, but as he tried to search his foggy alcohol memories, he couldn’t remember if he had said that to Senjuro also. Both of his sons were sensitive, and if he had said that to Senjuro he could see his youngest taking it harder than his brother. He was sure Kyojuro would never blatantly tell Senjuro that he wasn’t good enough to join the Corp or that his sword skills were bad....
But he would, especially with how he’d been acting these past few years. Kyojuro had forgiven him, but as Kyojuro had pointed out, he had been ill-tempered towards Senjuro. He felt that fear scurry back in. If Senjuro didn’t forgive him, it would hurt. But he reminded himself that he deserved to not be forgiven, and he still needed to apologize and leave the decision in Senjuro’s hands.
“Senjuro,” he looked down at him. Senjuro looked up obediently, his eyebrows up in that worried expression. Always that worried expression…”Come here a moment.” He walked to the edge of the veranda, set down the dishes then kneeled down. His youngest watched, curious, but followed him over and sat down across from him, also placing the dishes to the side.
“Yes Chichiue?”
Shinjuro tried to brace himself by placing his palms on his thighs, “I’ve wronged you Senjuro, and I’ve failed you as your father---You have always been there for me and for Kyojuro, even when I have been and acted less than human…and certainly less than a father should act. You have always been kind, understanding and generous and all I’ve done is ignore you and force my responsibilities as a caretaker on you. I’m truly sorry son.”
Shinjuro looked down at his hands, scared to look Senjuro in the eye, scared to see the contempt or anger. “I won’t pretend that I can remember everything that I have said to you boys over the years, and I don’t expect this to erase any of it, but the negative things I’ve said about you and your brother aren’t true. Know that I am ashamed of the harm I’ve caused you both with my actions and words towards you. I won’t ask for your forgiveness, that’s more than I deserve, but please hear my apology Senjuro.” Shinjuro closed his hands into fists then he bowed as he finished, closing his eyes.
Senjuro sat with quiet patience as his father apologized, he felt the tears come when Shinjuro described him, as he listened to Shinjuro he heard his brother’s gentle request on a spring morning.  “Don’t hold a grudge against our chichiue. Losing our hahaue was too painful. I’m sure someday Chichiue will be the same as before.”
Senjuro got up and kneeled directly in front of his father, he softly put his hands over Shinjuro’s clenched fists, “I forgive you Chichue.”
Shinjuro looked up as he felt Senjuro’s hands on his, looked him in the eye just as he granted him forgiveness. Senjuro gave him a genuine smile through his tears. He cried hearing the words of forgiveness, cried at how quickly Senjuro forgave him. Cried because he had been blessed with two wonderful boys, two boys who were already a better man than he ever could hope to be.

Hi! Thank you for answering my previous asks. If it doesn't seem too stupid, can you answer this: When you mention about Shinjuro's mental instability in your fics, what do you mean by that? Why would would you refer it like that? I don't quite get how Shinjuro could be having mental instability like in the memes you were saying. Can you explain it to me? In as much details as you can, without giving out spoilers you don't want to?
Hi there,
Sorry about the late response! I've been busy with a few things and just realized I never responded! So here is what I mean, which luckily does not really go into spoiler territory!
Warnings: mentions of PTSD, child abuse, alcohol abuse, alcohol withdrawal, depression, anxiety, and survivors guilt
Shinjurou's mental health is practically falling apart. He's life has been filled with so many hardships and terrible events so they have shaped him as a person with many mental health problems.
As a child, he was dealt with physical and emotional abuse by his father. He was beaten throughout his childhood due to his inability to keep up with his brothers and having been born when he was not needed (meaning that he was an unexpected birth). The emotional abuse includes his father's verbal attacks of comparing him with his brothers and having been told that he was at fault for causing their death.
As a Demon Slayer, he has seen his far share of horrors, including death of comrades, his inability to get to save someone on time, and so on. Demon Slayers in my mind are practically the same as soldiers so have gone through a battle (which they do since they face a different sort of battle as regular people). He's endured numerous traumatic events, even seeing the dead body of his beloved mother. His PTSD stems from this along with his survivors guilt. He has been at the center fold of being the lone survivor of a battle (aka the one in which he lost both his brothers). He continues to have flashbacks and nightmares from being the survivor of so many battles and is unable to move.
As an adult, he suffered alcohol abuse, as he saw it as a cooping mechanism for his wife's death. She was a focal point and somewhat savior from his troubles. She brought light into his life and once he lost her, he could not coop so he sought out something, anything, to bring him ease from his heartache. He took a nose dive from this and began to lose sight in anything. This lead eventually to the emotional abuse of his own children, which he saw as a way to keep them from dying.
Now, he struggles with alcohol withdrawal, having dealing with repercussions of his actions. This has shown itself as the new physical problems of his heart attack and his body now being uncooperative with certain actions. With the withdrawal, all his memories of his childhood and adulthood have come rushing back without any comfort. Shinjurou has to deal with these problems head-on and he has little desire to try and move past them.
His depression and anxiety stem from every aspect of his life. He has struggled with being unable to move on, to extreme paranoia and constantly on edge, and constantly being pessimistic and thinking that others would be better off without him. The multiple cases of abuse as a child shaped his mental health as someone with little care of their own being and with Ruka's passing, he was empty inside.
With his current situation, his children and others are trying to help him. They are willing to talk about and offer him comfort, but the real question will be, will Shinjurou accept their help and try to move on or will be crumble to his own mind?
Shinjurou is very complex character in my mind and I hope that this will help with understanding him better! Thank you for being patient and waiting for a response! Have a great month as well!
