How many armies do you have?

Apologies on this taking so long to answer, I attempted to answer it twice on my phone, but Tumblr kept eating my response because it has pictures in it :/ I finally said screw it and moved the pictures over to my computer.

I've got two armies, Adpetus Mechanicus and Death Guard!

They are the Submechanicus and the Depth Guard respectively.

The Submechancius uses The Makers Cult's "Dark Mechanicus" models as a base and have involved quite a bit of digital and physical kitbashing. I'm going for a more "20,000 leagues under the sea/Bioshock" theme. The Depth Guard was originally going to be a similar kitbashing scenario, but I ended up finding a modeler named MEZGIKE who's been making a death guard line that was exactly what I was looking for called the "Dredge." They're absolutely phenomenal, I love their sculpts to bits!

To tear back the curtain a bit, before I adopted the mantle of Skitariiposting I was primarily a Death Guard player - still am behind the scenes actually. I love admech's aesthetics, units, lore, game, gimmicks, characters, and everything else about them but I just for the life of me can't pull good stats on the tabletop. So when I'm wanting to play serious, I fall back to my nurgle roots.

This is partially why I've been posting less of my own admech stuff, I've been working on my Death Guard minis in the background and I'm wanting to finish them up so I can play them IRL at my local gameshop and at my friends place. I'm planning on doing some Admech here and there as a palate cleanser between DG models though, as I love painting them a lot :]

Also, I've got a little extra tidbit about where I get the models I paint below that I started going into a spiel about, but half way through I realized it didn't really pertain to your question. Just so it doesn't go to waste, I'm still going to include it just in case you or anyone else would like to know more about it.

I've had a couple folks ask where to get these minis, so I want to specify that I 3D print my minis with a resin printer. I buy the digital files and then run them through my printer to get them. If you have a printer and want to know where I get the digital files from, let me know and I'll send you some links!

While it takes a lot more effort and care, I like the unique look I can achieve with it! Others have also asked why I don't get official models and it's not like I can't afford or don't want to get the official James Workshop minis, I've painted a couple in the past for friends, but its mostly because I just like working with resin minis. The fact it's a bit cheaper to do so is also an appreciated bonus ;]

Haegrapimein balls

Y'know, as much as we dunk on "deez nuts" jokes, it is good that they've essentially phased out "your mom" jokes. At the very least now the recipient is the victim and not their mother who is not there to defend herself.

Psychologically speaking, its brilliant too! It's main goal is to trigger a haegrapimein response from the recipient, which is far more likely to make the gag personally felt than just targeting an external person whose, while important, only tangentially related and not the recipient themselves; plus there's always the chance the person dislikes their mother, making the joke less effective.

I just had a funny idea for a kinda joke themed admech force, and i must inform someone about it. A Tech-Priest in charge of a fleet finds, hides, and becomes obsessed with an ancient human Abominable Intelligence and starts consolting it constantly for help on naming his troops, where to go, what to do, and all that kind of stuff. The A.I. is just some kind of holographic interactive display loaded with a Hatsune Miku basic A.I. designed to say Hatsune Miku things and occasionally sing a Miku song. So, a lot of the fleeta hyms are Miku songs. Squads are named after her songs and maybe a skitarii or two named after other vocaloids.

Admech Heretek Hatsune Miku is one of the best concepts I've heard in a while, and I will now wholeheartedly back the fact that this needs to be expounded upon.

I will now be adding 'Hatsune Miku Techpriest' to my list of things to print and paint, thank you for this gift.

Thank you! I'm pretty happy with that color! I owe it largely in part to @dryderpunk , as she's the one who started using the technique for her tyranids; albeit a little more toned down. She was kind enough to provide me with her method, which I am still very thankful for. For mine, I said no to subtlety and cranked up the green a lot more.

It's done using a metallic speedpaint from Armypainters for the underneath with a glaze of green over it. I believe she uses a different speedpaint than I do? I could be wrong. I use Aztec Gold for mine, with a light glazing of Ork Flesh Contrast from Citadel for my green.

I think we should have more tech priests that wear those big wizard hats. The kinds worn by megumin or big hat logan. I think it would fit them well

Holy shit the glow in the dark paint is cool, fantastic use of that! I've considered trying to use some with my minis in the past, but I have yet to find any in yellow or orange, only green and blue.

Absolutely love your Cawl though, fantastic job! I will admit, I'm self aware enough to know that I am very biased towards green admech and that my judgement is usually skewed towards "every greem is good" but you really did knock this one out of the park, really good work there!

Hey Jerry, so random thought with thr adeptus mechanicus tech lore building anything must be like Lego.

Hear me out, all knowledge is out there some where so you wouldn't design a part for a function as the part you need already exists, so like with Lego you don't make pieces you dig through the pile until you find one that works. And building is mostly is just following the instructions but then some people build new things with the same prices mixing multiple sets and the are right and wrong ways of putting bits together.

Does any of that make sense or am I just going mad trying to justify playing with Lego?

I mean, you're pretty much right. Honestly, it's a good layman's explanation for what tech priests do. As someone who has a Lego collection that's constantly teetering on the razor-thin edge of either "adult lego hobbiest" and "adult who still plays with Legos," I've tried to put together a set with just the box pictures without the instructions on a whim and that shit's hard. The guesswork of the internal structures is always the bit that falls apart. You can try your best to make it look right on the outside all day long, but figuring out how the internal bits work to keep it together is challenging.

The idea of tech priests finding a box of golden age weapons with pictures on the front but no instruction manuals and then just, trying to get them assembled and working is practically canon, that's pretty much what they do. Utilizing ancient tech with partially assembled or completely lost ancient knowledge to improperly use or somehow cobble it together in a way that works is how the admech does things. The knowledge they *do* have (past experience with taking apart and then putting back together lego sets with instructions) is how they go about it.

So yes, essentially, a tech priest is a Lego hobbiest who has instructions for a 2017 millennium falcon lego star wars set and is trying to put together a 2007 Mars mission set with only the box and two scraps of the instruction booklet, one of which is the page with the choking hazard warning and the other is the minifig assembly steps.
