After the ball.

For context: Án (2P!China), upon realising he and Mathilde (Nyo!Denmark) were soulmates, fled the castle and avoided Mathilde for the rest of the night.

Now why is this such a “”devastating”” thing? Well, Mathilde’s been looking for her soulmate for around 15 years. She’s been going to these Soulmate Balls for 9 years, every year without luck. 

She’s had a lot of time to work herself up into a net of anxiety, wondering if her soulmate had died or if they existed at all. Another part of her anxiety is how her soulmate would react to meeting her- she was worried about scaring them off, or doing something else to make her soulmate dislike her.

You see where I’m getting with this, right? Án’s reaction basically proved her fears correct, which is absolutely heartbreaking to her. So her world is kinda crumbing around her at the moment LOL

Appearance: Gry is a tall woman standing at 6'1"/1.85 metres, with a thin and lanky build making her virtually look like a board. She has short, light brown hair that’s gelled up; light green eyes, one of which is dulled due to being blind; and a large scar running across her face. She’s typically seen wearing her nurse’s uniform (simply being too lazy to change when she gets off her shift), or a casual long-sleeved shirt and jeans.

Personality: Gry comes off as an aloof, anti-social character- which isn’t completely wrong. She’s got 0 social skills aside from small-talk, and she typically wears a “resting bitch face” that, when paired with her facial scar and height, makes her look intimidating. In reality, she’s more or less just nervous and sticks around her small group of friends instead of branching out.

She doesn’t understand certain forms of humour, which leads her to asking questions/criticising why someone said something, or asking why it’s supposed to be funny. Although on her own, she sometimes makes jokes herself (which can be lost in translation since English isn’t her first language).

She’s stubborn and refuses to admit when she needs help, or when she’s done something wrong, and will pin the blame on others instead. She only apologises, begrudingly, if she absolutely KNOWS she was in the wrong (and if the other person apologises first).

She becomes a bit more open towards those close to her; If she considers you a good friend, she’ll bring you gifts and become a bit more “affectionate” in her own Gry-way, aka she’ll pat your head to tell you that you’re doing a good job. She’s also a little chattier with friends, and will try to get involved in conversations more for the sake of Friendship™.

After a few hours, Sang Kyu hears the unmistakeable sound of footsteps echoing down the corridor. This was it. What was his strategy to beg for his life? Continue to feign innocence? Insist there has been some sort of mistake? Offer his services in exchange for his freedom? Adrenaline shot through him like hot, liquid iron.

Just like that, the queen was there. She was tall and imposing, just like the stories. Great. Trying to fight his way out with no weapons was going to be a struggle. But—she walked right past him. Was she here for someone else?

A second later, she was back though. For a moment, they stared at each other, sizing each other up.

But at her comment, he forgets his apprehension. A child?

“I’m 23!” he says, offended. He realizes this is no way to talk to a queen, but maybe he can make this perception she has of him work out in his favor. If she thinks he’s young and immature, maybe she’ll let him off easy.

“Whatever,” he scoffs. “Anyway, I haven’t done anything wrong, your majesty.”

Which, aside from the petty crime of stealing clothes for his diguise, is true enough. He hasn’t killed a single person since he entered this kingdom!

After being arrested, Sang Kyu had been put in a cell somewhere deep in the castle. Though he had tried to remember the path they'd taken to get here, he doubted he'd be able to remember it if the chance came to escape. How long might that be? The guards had told him the queen would come to see him "eventually," whatever that meant. He could be here for weeks. He pressed his head against the cold stone wall. What a fool he'd been, thinking he could stay out in the open. @ask-colourkingdom-nkorea

After being informed of their “special visitor”, Mathilde had made her way down to the holding cells, guards in tow. They had told her briefly about the prisoner, though she dismissed their words, instead wanting to “make my own judgement”. That’s just plain stupid, Mathilde.

The clack of her heels echoed as she walked down the stairway, approaching the cell Sang Kyu had been placed in. She actually passed by the cell first, before being turned around by one of her guards. “This way, your Majesty.“ 

"I knew that-”

Now in front of the cell, she remained silent for a moment, tilting her head in confusion. “..This is the ‘dangerous fugitive’ Kris captured? He’s a child, the hell-”

Sang Kyu tries to contain his annoyance. He knows she’s just trying to piss him off with this stuff about his age.

He presses up against the bars after she moves away from them.

“I don’t know,” he shrugs. “Looking suspicious or something of that nature, apparently. You let your paranoid knights arrest people on such shaky grounds?”
